[6.0] "The August 9th, 1999 edition of WCW Monday Nitro was...good. The best show we've seen in MONTHS. Not the best show in the world but they seemed to put enough effort into it for the go-home show but the problems are still there. Highlights for me was the consistency of the show overall, Benoit's US Title win, Mona being showcased, Guerrero & Mysterio vs. Adams & Taylor, Hogan returning to the Red & Yellow and a decent main event. My only gripes I had is the Rodman v. Savage stuff and some underwhelming matches. Overall, an effective go-home show. [***]"
[7.0] "This was a really, really good show for a 1999 Nitro, in that while it had some of its usual problems, such as the Chad Brock concert and the Public Enemy match, the rest of the show featured mostly good matches and promoted Road Wild extremely well. Also, David Flair losing the US title was a HUGE plus and the return of the red and yellow made Hogan somewhat fresh again."
[5.0] "A better Nitro than many around this time, though it still suffers from the problems of this era. The best thing about the show is the crowd, which is super hot all night, presumably from Boise, Idaho not getting too many notable wrestling shows. It climaxes well at the end when Hogan comes out in red and yellow, the response is insane. Just goes to show Hogan still had major value, though perhaps as a special attraction rather than a weekly wrestler where he would quickly grow old over again. And listen to the crowd meltdown all over again when Goldberg tags in! Quite a hot night for the crowd. The wrestling? Well, not so much. The Mysterio tag was pretty great but shafted for time. The opening six man was surprisingly solid, and the women's match was better than you might expect. But a lot of matches shafted for time, David Flair remains a focal point, bad pushes like Disco, Bagwell, and the Cat continue. Still better than many Nitros around this time, at least."
