[8.0] "Another excellent episode of AEW tv started off hot with a very good tag match between ospreay and hanger vs takeshita and alexander with it being a great match with lots of good moves and bumps and a tease of what to come in the final of the owen, then ricochet vs zach gowan was a very good short singles match with good heel and face work from the pair with rico picking up the win with the spirit gun and then beating down gowan before briscoe came in for the save, next was a solid top flight promo ahead of their short match vs the hurt syndicate where both teams looked good. Then the weakest part of the show the CRU and the Sons of Texas come out and now have a number 1 contenders match tomorrow for a title shot at DON pretty pointless as neither team is built well enough to be a threat then MJF comes out and gets the third thumbs up from big Bob and joins THS probaley in for a beating next week. Then its on to the very good womens 4 way which Mina won a great showing from all 4 women AZM being the standout and then a good post match angles between Toni and Mina after their mini feud last summer and then AZM Mercedes and jamie hayter teasing a AZM Mercedes rematch and building to the final of the womens owen cup. Then a soild segment with Nigel DG and FTR teasing a match at DON would love to see it, Then the main event and finally a passable moxley title match for the first time since full geat mainly thanks to samoa joe working his ass of as per the finish was good as with all the deathriders taken out you had the small hope joe might do it but no Gabe Kidd slides the breifcase to mox and he clocks joe with it for the finish. Then the beatdown begins with the bucks coming out to join in before kenny runs out to make the save but gets blindsided by okada and the bucks bring the cage down and its 7v2 until the music hits and swerve comes out climbs the cage for the stomp and the death riders and the bucks flee as swerve cuts a great promo and challenges them to anarchy in the arena to close the show. Another great episode and one a side note a very touching tribute to Sabu Rip big man"

I also really enjoyed the Women's 4-Way with Mina getting the win, and setting up a title match with Toni. Also great to see Skye Blue back in action! Really liking the Hurt Syndicate & MJF storyline, with Bobby and Shelton beating Top Flight. Ricochet beat some dude with one leg, and Mox and Samoa Joe beat the tar out of each other in a cage match, but the after match antics with Kenny, Swerve and the Bucks was better than the match."

"Someday I will come here and tell you how I absolutely hated an episode of Dynamite, or at least, how underwhelming it turned out to be, but today is not one of those days. It's very easy to get used to the absolute bangers that AEW produces weekly on Wednesday/Saturday/Thursday nights, but it's important not to take these great episodes for granted. Yes, they are not perfect - but nothing is. The show was filled with nothing but great and meaningful matches, perfectly balanced with entertaining in-ring and backstage promos. AEW really figured out the formula for how a weekly wrestling show should be paced. Despite this episode running well beyond the 2-hour mark, it really didn't feel that long. 1) I didn't think much about it last week, but it's insane that Zach Gowen became a professional wrestler. He's the ultimate proof that your excuses are not valid. Every time you feel sorry for yourself or have an excuse, just think of Zach Gowen who became a professional wrestler with a ONE FUCKING LEG! ONE LEG, CARL! A PROFESSIONAL WRESTLER! 2) Gabe Kidd being in cahoots with the Death Riders just feels right. He looks like he belongs there, especially with that shaved head and beard of his. He's like an evolved Pokemon of Jon Moxley."
Sicario wrote on 18.05.2025:
"So from the positives: 1) Big thing for setting Zach vs Rico match, its wonderfull than legless wrestles can get a shot and show the world how passionate and talneted he is! 2)Osprey and Hangman shouldnt get 'can they coexist' but at this this looked like some proper build up. 3) Also good that Mox defended on weekly show, his matches killed last few PPVs. Biggest boo goes to the most lazy of all bookings with Shirakawa vs Storm, like really, Skye Blue return wasted and no story whatsoever."

[9.0] "Was originally going to go 8 but the fact that Tony Khan changed Mina's entrance music back mid show kicked it up one. Only draw back to this show for me was the glaring issue of a lack formidable tag teams gunning for the titles and I'm still pissed they rushed the Gunns match. They could have had a decent angle or a reasonably long fued but we got a decisive THS win and we haven't seen Austin and Colten since."

[9.0] "Super entertaining show. The opener was fantastic as usual, particularly the spots between Ospreay and Hanger. MJF/Hurt segment was great and can't wait to see where this goes. The women's 4 way was great. Toni is so damn over that it elevates everyone and great way to bring Mina back. Ricochet is a fantastic heel and Zach overdelivered - they put on a better match than the Mania main event if we're being honest. The cage match was great. Classic true heavyweight FIGHT. The ending being screwy sucked but what followed was one of the best endings to a Dynamite we've seen. Swerve is an absolute star and the company did a masterful job building him into one (and credit to him obviously for taking the ball and dunking it). Can't wait for DoN!"

[4.0] "There was nothing in this show that we hadn't seen before, no fight stood out, and no segment stood out, pure filler. I know AEW Dynamite had some really good shows a few weeks ago but now we're back to basics, I hope Double or Nothing is better. Toni Storm continues to be the most overrated woman in the world. She couldn't even beat AZM with a good match. I'm not kidding. There's no excuse for having a mediocre match against AZM. And the main event wasn't as bad as I expected, but it was slow and boring, which prevented me from giving it a 7. In my opinion, this show doesn't pass muster."

The main event could have certainly been better, but Moxley is who he in 2025, and the closing angle to setup Anarchy in the Arena was pretty great."

[7.0] "I agree with the person below saying this was too much entertainment with the wrestling not being great, but my opinion is not that negative. Opener was fun, a bit underwhelming knowing that the four guys are way better than this. I don't like the "can they coexist? " matches and the almost-hitting finishers, but the image of the hidden blade cms away from Hangman's face looked cool. Ricochet stuff was great. THS with another casual ass kicking match that is cool to see but it doesn't really means anything, and as I said before, the MJF segments feel repetitive. Fun four way, but a bit rough. I'm glad to see Skye Blue back, she looked so happy that she was struggling to keep character. Mina's new song is horrible, not that it really matters but I have to say it, I much rather prefer the usual fake version of Danza Kuduro. Steel Cage was ok but I hated the finish. Is nice to see Gabe but I expect a good explanaition for it. The post match was pretty cool."

[5.0] "Average show for me with a strange crowd, nothing like the great ones from the past few weeks in more intimate venues. Opening was a good match that teased some cool stuff but was too long of a match for its own good. Ricochet match was okay but didn't accomplish that much in the grand scheme of things (All of that heat for a Mark Briscoe run-in, seriously? ). Another boring tag titles defence by hurt syndicate which was followed by a god awful tag team promo segment. That whole thing could have been accomplished by a simple backstage interaction. I have no idea why they're so persistent with charisma vacuums like Top Flight, Lio Rush, Action Andretti and Sammy Gueverra. The writing is on the wall man, move on! Negative pop everyone got was very telling, at least MJF saved that whole disaster. Women's match was very good despite Mina's theme song blunder. Mina got the pin over Toni but I have no idea why they booked this match on a 10 day notice when they had a great story last year. Feels very rushed and out of place but will have to see if they got anything in store like a Thekla debut or something. I don't expect Mariah to return, even if she's coming back having her return involving Toni would be so dumb. Post match segment between owen final participants did nothing for me, it felt shoehorned it and reminded me of a couple of years ago where they would book all the women stuff in one segment since Tony Khan can't afford to cut in men's time. It's quite funny how women are still an afterthought even after the roster becoming more and more stacked and talented. It's almost as if there is a fundemental problem regarding the booker. Main event was stinky but no surprises there considering the horrendous deathriders stuff will unfortunately continue at least for a couple of months. Anarchy in the Arena announcement was so underwhelming. A match that was once an attraction becoming so lame and repetitive speaks volumes about how this company loves running cool shit into the ground and making these amazing concepts so lame."

[7.0] "Admittedly weaker on the wrestling side from what you would expect from a special episode and without any standout matches but at the end of the day I was fine with it cause at least there was a bunch of story progression and I had a good time watching. MJF/HS segment was the highlight of the show, way too cute of a moment for anyone to turn next week, and the ending with the AITA set up was pretty hype."

The interactions between Hangman and Ospreay were gold. Everything else was very entertaining, from Ricochet and Zach Gowen, to the segment between MJF and the Hurt Syndicate which was very funny and the chaotic end to the main event, which set up the now annual Anarchy in the Arena tradition."

[6.0] "This was an okay episode of AEW Dynamite. The opening match made the start of the episode very exciting, but that was the peak of the episode for me. I thought MJF getting into the Hurt Business finally was such a funny moment. I don't think it'll last knowing MJF's history, but I'm going to enjoy every seconf og it. Mina gets the win over Toni Storm, which led to a match being made for the title at Double or Nothing. The Main Event Match was very mediocre to me. We saw Gabe Kidd come and help Jon Moxley, which didn't make sense to me. Afterwards, a huge brawl ensued where Swerve Strickland comes out and makes the rescue and announces at Double or Nothing for an Archery in an Arena Match. The past week's episodes were great, but this episode kinda tuned down. As we are almost at Double or Nothing, they need to have another strong episode before the event."

Even the match between Ricochet and Zach Gowen was very cool, I had a great time watching it. The promo with the Hurt Syndicate and MJF was hilarious, I loved it. And the end of the show, when it was literally anarchy and Swerve like Batman came to save and calm everyone down, was absolutely crazy. I think the episode deserves more praise, it was very good."

Great pro wrestling, even if we did not get a match of the year contender or anything and amazing use and showcase of an insanely stacked roster. My only complaint would be the outdated Queen's Quest graphic for AZM!"

A few problems here or there that would knock it down from rounding up to a 9, which I'd often do given the match quality on display, but it's definitely a very very solid 8."

[8.0] "Very good Dynamite that started with the MOTN, Ospreay is a fantastic TV wrestler, they did a basic "can they co-exist" story with Hangman but it was great, some anime stuff with both almost hitting themselves with their finishers, and the incredible Buckshot Lariat x Hidden Blade to finish the match! Ricochet vs Zach Gowen was a cool little weekly feud that fit perfectly for Rico's heel character, the match was entertaining. The part of the show I didn't really liked : Top Flight being jobber and the CRU/Dustin Rhodes & Sammy reminding everyone how uninteresting the mid card tag teams are... The ROH tag and trios really gotta change hands. Another well produced MJF/Hurt Syndicate segment, they're still going with this story with the contract signing for next week, but I liked that later in the show we got a backstage promo giving us a little extra to the storyline as MJF now have Sterling in his side. 4 way was good, I expected Mina to win tbh, but that's cool she made the small package pinfall on the champ! Good segment to hype FTR vs Danny & Nigel, who we know can still go after his great performance in the gauntlet last year and the match with Danielson. Main event steel cage Samoa Joe vs Moxley was good, we got to see a more exciting version of Mox, didn't mind all the overbooking and finish, because Gabe Kidd is a great addition to the storyline, the after match with Swerve announcing the Anarchy in the Arena for the PPV was perfect, this time it's gonna be a mixed one with Marina Shaffir and Willow in the match, can't wait! In the middle of the show they also did an emotional tribute to Sabu with Taz honoring his greatest rival, big respect."

"This was a good episode, although it felt like a slight decline from previous weeks. The opening match was great and I liked the tension between Hangman and Ospreay. The hidden blade/buckshot combo was cool. Josh Alexander came off great and have high hopes for him. Ricochet/Gowan was good for what it was. I found the Hurt Business segment went a little long. I think Top Flight feel done at this point and it may be time to do an amicable split or some sort of shakeup. The women's match was decent, and the result surprised me. I thought the main event was good. Joe and Mox laid in some stiff shots. The ending was a little flat though, and the last few minutes felt overbooked."
NikoKillbain wrote on 15.05.2025:
[3.0] "Poorly produced show, with the ending being the worst part. They crammed so much into the last five minutes and gave nothing room to breath. Swerve's dive was huge but we saw Cope break his leg jumping vertically off the cage. The women's match was poor, as Mina's a particularly bad performer. The cage match was boring, with one bad mistake. The Hurt Syndicate segment took its time but hopefully they stick with it. MJF is more interesting when he's got different stuff to do. The only highlight was the tag match, yet I don't think they need to be forcing heat between Will and Hangman. Performer of the night was Josh Alexander."

[7.0] "A good episode, may be a bit underwhelming for a tv special. As opposed to the opinions down below, I do think the matches were good. The opener was well made, they just didn't show everything they can do (that's what some people asked to Ospreay, slow down and don't give everything everytime). Once again a great and fun Ricochet segment, much respect to Zach Gowen. The 4 way was really cool, too bad it didn't got the attention it deserved. Finally, the main event was really great in my opinion, violent and sadistic, without even using weapons. This kind of match is what Moxley should have done during his reign. I loved the crazy ending with everyone being involved, Gabe Kidd and Moxley looks so great together for some reasons. On the other hand, I think the non-wrestling segments on the show were mid : the less funny segment of MJF/Syndicate, and unecessary segment with Garcia and Nigel that could have been on Collision."

[2.0] "Another Dynamite that falls way below expectations due to a heavy focus on sports entertainment and matches that look good on paper but underdeliver because they're short, slow, soft, and prioritize posing for the camera instead of kickass action. The opener, unsurprisingly, was Dynamite's best and only decent match. Will Ospreay seems one of few AEW talent unwilling to slow down no matter the match, show, or nearness to a PPV. But this match still doesn't hit its potential. Josh Alexander continues to look like he's unhappy with his role in AEW, wrestling with little personality and an unwillingness to bump. Takeshita, typically great even in poor situations, faded in the background as Ospreay and Hangman drama sucked up screentime. And that's what hurt this match the most -- it simply didn't matter. This was only ever going to be about Ospreay and Hangman, and Takeshita and Alexander were only ever meant to fill time and lose gracefully. Fine enough for a mid-show time-passer, but a bummer for a named Dynamite opener. After that, Ricochet and AEW graced us with a gross throwback 90s match where Ricochet beats up disabled wrestler Gowen, intercut with brief "Look, he can wrestle! " comebacks. Gowen deserves better than a sideshow match meant to build Ricochet heat. Following that, everything to do with The Hurt Business and MJF continues to be atrocious television. Top Flight, CRU, and Dustin+Sammy continue to be below Dynamite talent level, yet seem to get more TV and promo time than fuckin' Kenny Omega and a more deserving portion of AEW's upper card. The match between Hurt Business and Top Flight was thankfully short, no one looked strong, and Hurt Business' reputation of never helping their opponents continues. The entire segment with MJF was painfully long, on the other hand. Dumb, pointless, unfunny, and inevitably leading to a match or series of matches that will suck, it's the same segment you've watched for the last month or two. MJF continues to have nothing worth the time it gets for us. Hurt Business continues to be AEW's latest shit running-on-branding WWE act filling Copeland's time. Or was it Cole's time? Or is it Jericho's, at least until he's done with his tour? A women's match with potential is undercut by masturbatory excess as Toni Storm was intentionally overshadowed by perpetual underperformer Skye Blue's comeback and forever-mid Mina Shirikawa's apparent signing and push. Meanwhile, exceptional Stardom talent AZM had to fucking slow her work down for her opponents to smile at the camera. Even the rollups looked amateur in this match and now we're stuck with an inevitably 6/10 matchup between Toni and Mina at Double or Nothing. At least the build will be gracefully short and Toni will probably cut a hilarious promo about Mina's tits. Despite all that, easily the most disappointing match of the show (yes, worse than a 5-minute Hurt Business stomp and another where Ricochet builds heat beating up a disabled man), Jon Moxley defeats Samoa Joe in the worst cage match of the year. These two unapologetically half-retired in-ring performers took turns choking each other, using rope breaks (yes, rope breaks in a cage match) to transition into the next choke, and then finishing with a bullshit Gabe Kid foreign object spot. Somebody use Tony Khan's Time Cop time traveler gimmick to end this fucking championship reign before it started. Put Samoa Joe on Collision where he can have bad matches quietly with Hook. Put it all out of its misery. One last pair of notes -- can Kenny Omega stop fucking selling his goddamn guts and look like the great wrestler we're told he half the time? Also, Swerve is rad af. Should have pivoted to him like everyone fucking knows. Dire episode from top to bottom. My fault for being excited for a named Dynamite."

[8.0] "Another strong dynamite heading into what feels like an extremely exciting Double or Nothing PPV, a killer opener with 4 hot acts, Hangman/Ospreay "co-existing" in a great way with the eventually blow up happening post match, an awesome heat filled segment with Ricochet who has genuinely become a premier heel, absolutely fantastic, some cool with with the Hurt Syndicate who get away with not doing much by just being unbeleviably awesome, a fantastic 4 way with the upset win of Mina now as a full time AEW act, and finally Moxley proves he isn't washed in an absolutely awesome steel cage main event, a big thumbs up."
