"Can MM survive the biggest bully in the yard and win his 1st Triple Crown? MM spends a great deal of time working-over/stretching-out the Texan’s left arm to prevent receiving a fatal Western Lariat. But SH’s a big man and an arm-workover isn’t going to sap his core strength, nor his stamina. SH’s rationale is that if you try and take out my left arm, I’ll do the same…and w/ that spirit he hits MM w/ a shoulderbreaker on the W ringguard rails and over the next couple of minutes does what he can to prevent MM from getting back into the ring. Over the course of the match Hansen does a fine job selling the accumulated effect of all those elbows. MM works in an excitable front facelock submission that has the crowd buying it might be enough to pin the big man. Nope, and soon-after a SE top-rope splash misses. Hansen’s late-attack begins to flatten the challenger; MM tries to Octopus-himself but the champ flings him off. The crowd’s desperately chanting “Misawa, Misawa. ” Hansen cross-armbreaker on MM’s left arm and refuses to break clean when MM reaches the ropes. MM up, hits an elbow, SH staggers w/ an unsteady boot, MM hits another elbow and SH collapses face-first on the NW side of the mat. MM rolls him over, 1, 2, 3! An explosion hits the Budokan! SH is up soon-after and walks around ‘WTF? ! ’ He shakes MM’s hand and leaves but not before a last unneeded Texan ‘WHOOO’ as he should be selling this Big loss more and not just discard it w/ a ‘I’ll be back’ howl. The crowd’s insane! 7. 75"
