[4.0] "This was a disappointing episode of Nitro where there was a few good moments like the shocking Stieners crash, Roddy Piper's Alcrataz promo and the then unknown Prince Iaukea defeating an overconfident Regal to win the TV Title. WCW was cruising on at this point where they knew they was hammering WWF in the ratings because of how big the nWo storyline was, but thats not necessarily meaning it was a consistently better product as Nitro hasn't really been great for the last few weeks now. The nWo storyline focus has gone to the extent where none of the matches feel important because the commentary flat out ignores them and there a total of 12 matches here too. Way too many! The opening looked like a good set up where the nWo arrive and find out one of their members was ambushed and the excitement with that goes flat when it was revealed to be Big Bubba and not one of the top stars."

[5.0] "My opinion is the same as the others here. Highlights include Iaukea winning the TV belt, Piper locking himself in Alcatraz and the car crash of the Steiners. Also, would like to help by saying that Gomez vs. Lazer Tron was broadcasted on Main Event on March 1st, 1997, where Gomez won with a Spinning Side Slam."

[4.0] "Prince Iaukea won the TV title, which was the highlight of the show. That's a sad statement, honestly. Not much here in terms of story. Kind of an empty show honestly."

[4.0] "Guerrero vs Konan was a pretty good match, but I disliked the way the DQ finish was used. Prince Iukea defeating Regal for the TV title was a big surprise that I actually liked. Regal does such good heel work that it felt good to see him lose. Many of the other matches were far too short or just completely unnecessary for storyline purposes and just fell flat for me. The match of the night was Mysterio vs Super Calo. Lots of high risk moves and pretty big bumps on the floor and mats, even the barricades. The NWO pre-taped car crash promo with the Steiners was ridiculous but I loved it. The four horsemen promo was good, Lex Luger's promo was okay, and Hulk Hogan delivered yet another boring, underwhelming promo to me. Not the greatest go home show for a PPV, going into SuperBrawl VII but it easily could've been worse."

[2.0] "Nitro continues to suck, with a bunch of mostly pointless and uninteresting matches, segments, and angles. Bubba being attacked at the start was interesting, but it was only addressed once more in the whole show and thus felt insignificant. Mysterio vs Calo was the one okay match on the show. It was basic, quite short, and a bit sloppy, but still a fun high-flying spotfest. **3/4. Morrus vs Mungo was boring but inoffensive. Morrus' character still sucks but his and Mungo's offences were fine enough. TS;NR (too short; no rating). Piper's promotional recap video was pretty lame for how cheesy it was. Malenko vs Brookside was alright. Malenko's technical work was very good, and Brookside was a mostly competent partner, but Malenko needed a more serious opponent to help build him up to face Syxx at SuperBrawl. Public Enemy vs The Canadians was short and pointless, featuring lame brawling and low-effort tag spots. TS;NR. DDP's interview with Mean Gene was alright. The story of DDP (somewhat suspiciously) denying Genes accusations of his involvement in Bubba's attack earlier was interesting, and DDPs acting of (perhaps faked) confusion was pretty good. Regal vs Iaukea only happened for the sake of a cheap pop when Iaukea -- this totally uninteresting nobody -- got the upset title win. Regal = buried. TS;NR. The referees' match between Anderson and Patrick was extremely short and extremely cartoony. Embarrassing stuff. TS;NR. Benoit vs Road Block was another short and pointless match. Road Block dominated but Woman interfered to give Benoit the edge that led to him winning Lame. TS;NR. The Outsiders' video tape was more nWo immaturity and took ages to get to the point, that being them causing the Steiners' crash. Sullivan vs Dean was YET ANOTHER short, uninteresting, and wholly worthless match. Sullivan is still extremely boring, as is his feud with Benoit. TS;NR. Eddie vs Konnan was slightly longer and more interesting than the other matches but still very limited. Eddie worked hard on both offence and defence, but Konnan offered nothing, and the DQ finish sucked. **. Jerichos post-match save was generic, but he and Eddie teaming up would be fun. The Four Horsemen's interview with Gene was fine but they all just retreaded the usual uninteresting talking points. The Giants 1-v-2 handicap match ended almost instantly and, yet again, was an absolute waste of time. TS;NR. Giant and Luger solidifying their team for SuperBrawl vs The Outsiders in the post-match was fine. Piper's promo from Alcatraz wasn't that good, since his delivery was very over-the-top 'crazy', plus the constantly moving camera was very annoying. Jericho vs Jarrett was the millionth pointless match. It was incredibly short, nothing happened, and it finished with interference. TS;NR. Hogan and Bischoffs show-closing promo was fine, but it was their same old showboating schtick, and then Sting and Savage teased going down only to do nothing. What a cop-out."

[6.0] "Just some final hype before SuperBrawl. Piper has lost his mind apparently and locked himself in Alcatraz for some reason. Prince Iaukea is TV champ for some reason despite being a jobber who has won around 2 matches since 96. Too many jobber matches again and it's sad because it started with Rey Mysterio vs Super Calo and the mystery of who attacked Bubba Rogers."

[6.0] "Was für eine eigenartige Nitro Episode? Wrestlerisch war erneut nicht viel sehenswertes dabei. Die Stories waren teilweise recht unspannend (Horsemen und Piper) aber teilweise auch ganz nett (Referees und der Mordanschlag der Outsiders). Es lies sich alles in allem gut weggucken."

[6.0] "This was the weakest Nitro for some time with a few not-so-hot segments such as Prince Iaukea's TV title win and the Piper's Alcatraz promo. Solid ending though."

[7.0] "A pretty good Nitro, though not the best of the era. Best match is Mysterio vs. Calo, some very good stuff there. I liked the Canadians vs. Public Enemy as well. The Steiners car crash angle is a bit over the top but it's executed pretty well at least. Regal dropping the TV title to the useless Iaukea is quite ridiculous."

[6.0] "Nothing great about the matches, all shorts but with some funny moments. The angles work fine in this show, Hogan, Piper, the Four Horsemen make things interesting, enough for the episode. There is a weird title change, but it's still acceptable."

[6.0] "Mit 11 Matches, darunter auch 3 Titel Matches und vielen Storyentwicklungen bemühte man sich eine erinnerungsträchtige Episode zu zeigen und sah erneut eine sehr abwechslungsreiche Show, jedoch gingen einige Segmente etwas in die Hose. Positiv zu erwähnen waren natürlich die Title Matches, die für ihre kurze Zeit unterhaltsam waren, wie auch der Versuch alle Fehden weiter voranzutreiben. In dem Sinne war die Show durchaus gelungen, da bis auf das Six Man bei SuperBrawl alle Matches einen akzeptablen Aufbau bekommen hatten. Zum Kopfschütteln fand ich jedoch die "Verfolgungsjagd" der NWO, wie auch die Promo von Piper in Alcatraz. Die Piper Promo wurde immerhin noch gut delivered und man könnte darauf plädieren, dass sie zu seinem Charakter gepasst hat, obwohl es meiner Meinung nach eher in den Bereich Wrestle-Trash gehört. Zu der NWO Verfolgungsjagd fällt mir jedoch nur wenig positives ein. Das half weder der NWO noch den Steiners, da beide dabei schlecht wirkten und lebte lediglich vom Schockmoment der kriminellen Tat. Da hilft auch der Vergleich mit der Pillman Storyline nicht weiter, die aus vollkommen anderen Motiven passierte und gleichzeitig auch eine andere Präsentation hatte. Das klingt insgesamt negativer, als es eigentlich der Fall war, aber diese 2 Szenen waren auffallend schlecht."

[6.0] "Elf Matches in knapp hundert Minuten sind mit allem Drumherum ein ambitioniertes Vorhaben. Zumindest bei Rey gegen Super Calo geht das noch gut, aber McMichael bekommt zwar noch Pos, das Match ist aber eher bieder. Robbie Brookside, heute Trainer im NXT Performance-Zentrum, legt danach einen belanglosen Job gegen Malenko hin. Der Iceman hingegen befindet sich im Visier Waltmans und somit der nWo. Vor den Augen diverser anderer Teams werden die Quebecers langsam nach unten durchgereicht. Big Bubba wurde backstage attackiert, aber DDP will damit nichts zu tun haben. Dann kommt es zum Upset - Rey lenkt Regal ab, so dass dieser seinen TV-Titel an den Edeljobber Iaukea verliert. Feelgood-Momente für Randy Anderson sind die Folge, die ihm EB aber in keinster Weise gönnen möchte. Benoit holt aus der Strassensperre so ziemlich das Maximum raus, was aber auch nicht viel ist. Die nWo drängt anschliessend Rick Steiner von der Strasse - das ist ein krasser Unfall und ziemlich verstörend. Sullivan bleibt weiterhin von Benoit besessen und zerlegt einen Jobber nach dem anderen. Die Faces of Fear attackieren ganz unmotiviert Eddie Guerrero mitten im Match und rauben Konan so einen möglichen Titelgewinn. Die Horsemen wieder mit einer 'Won't back down' Promo, das ist nicht sondelrich originell. Der Giant zerlegt dafür gleich zwei Edeljobber auf einmal und repräsentiert auch die Zusammenarbeit mit Luger im Projekt Tag Team Titel. Roddy Piper trainiert derweil in Alcatraz zu einer heftigen Facepalm-Reaktion meinerseits. Beim letzten Macht macht McMichael noch einmal unmissverständlich klar, was er von Jarrett hält, und verhilft Jericho somit zu einem unerwartetem Triumph. Am Ende gibt es noch ein wenig nWo-Blabla von Hogan mit gebannten Zuhörern namens Savage & Sting. Die spürbare Stärke der Show ist der Aufbau der Stories, die Schwäche ganz klar die Matchqualität mit Ausnamhe des Openers. Als Hype für den PPV ist das somit in Summe überwiegend brauchbar. Aufgerundet."

[7.0] "Opener war wirklich nicht schlecht, Misterio gegen Super Calo, schönes Cruiserweight Wrestling. Aber das Outfit von Super Calo da werd ich mich wohl nie mit anfreunden. Aber ey, darum geht es ja auch nicht. Danach ein paar kurze und knackige Matches, wobei Mongo McMichael weiter aufgebaut wird, für das Match gegen Double J, wo es darum geht ob Double J bei den Horseman aufgenommen wird. Zwei zu erwartende Siege danach, ehe dann tatsächlich Prince Iaukea Regal um den titel erleichtert, sehr überraschend. Randy Anderson besiegt Nick Patrick unfair und wird dann direkt wieder entlassen, da es ja unfair war... was nicht im Sinne der nWo sein kann :D Chris Benoit fertigt den Edeljobber ROad Block ab und Sullivan besiegt ebenfalls einen Jobber. Wodurch beide weiter stark dargestellt werden. Eddie gewinnt durch DQ und am Ende kommt Y2J ihm zur Hilfe und bekommt n US Titel Match beim PPV. Giant gewinnt ein Handicap Match und Jericho gewinnt gegen Double J, nachdem eben dieser den Koffer von Mongo übergebrettert bekommt. Alles in allem eine gute letzte Ausgabe vor dem PPV. 7 Punkte."

[7.0] "Ordentliches Nitro vorm PPV. Der Titelwechsel kam überraschend fand ich. Randy Anderson gewann (unfair) und wurde doch wieder entlassen. Dazu ein paar ordentliche kurze Matches und der Hype für Hogan-Piper und den SuperBrawl VII."
