[5.0] "Look, I think this show is massively overhated. You'd assume this was the worst thing to ever happen in wrestling with the way people were acting on Twitter, but now that I've gotten around to it, it was just boring. They're 0-2 at Hammerstein but I don't think this was THAT bad."
Unfassbar."
[5.0] "I've been watching GCW for a couple years. Not all of his shows, but I watch them from time to time. This show was a complete GCW experience. The good, the bad and the ugly. It's not everyone cup of tea, but that's part of the charm. I'm happy something like this exists and is successful. Show wasn't the worst of all time like some people say, but it wasn't a great show either. It ran too long, had too many matches and most of them were average at best. TLC, tag titles, ECW six man and Tanaka vs. Janela were the high points."
[5.0] "GCW just cannot win at Hammerstein. It's a bummer, because I really think Hammerstein is one of the best venues for wrestling outside of big arena type shows. The injury to Allie killed the crowd and the stalling after was both awkward and unnecessary as this show ran for FIVE AND A HALF HOURS. People left in droves before the main event not just out of boredom or exhaustion, but because if they stayed the next trains out wouldn't be until 3am. The opener was great, ViF need to become a mainstream tag team because they are fucking incredible, and while the match wasn't great I love EFFY so I can't help but be happy about the main event. There's a good show trapped inside this bloated, poorly paced card, and with some cuts and changes this could've been the redemption show GCW wanted. In particular cut the cage match, I know it's and indie promotion but man that shit looked actively bad. If I hadn't been there live I'd probably be less generous with the rating, but I can't say it was a bad night out."
"This show was embarrassing. Booker is creatively bankrupt and is also a goof. It must be exhausting for him to pretend he didn't shit the bed twice at the same venue."
WWE.
[3.0] "The show's pacing was overall very mediocre. The very unfortunate injury in the #1 contender match sucked the life out of the crowd (please get well soon Allie), and the immediate aftermath cemented the clunky nature of the show with them sending the next set of wrestlers out, telling them to stall, then just saying the truth for the delay afterwards to a general chorus of boos and apathy from the crowd. Most of the following matches were just okay at best, nothing really special. Though there were some matches that were very entertaining such as the opening DLC match and the ECW vs Los Desperados trio's match (highlights of the night honestly). The line of people heading the exit during the entrances for the main event was the final nail in the coffin for how tired everyone was and the general atmosphere of the night. Brett's attempt at a rah-rah speech during the preshow might as well have been the kiss of death jinxing the rest of it."
"A weak event that has tried to improve on the previous one. Three matches are saved: the DLC, Atticus vs Megan and Joey Janela vs Tanaka. A slightly subdued audience and I think it also comes from not being able to see the complete essence of GCW. Important things to highlight and twists to some storylines but that does not improve the event but the trajectory of some stories. I think they need to identify where they want to focus and not diversify so much, that has been a mistake they are suddenly having."
[4.0] "I thought the build to this show was actually quite good, and they just needed to stick the landing. Unfortunately, they did not, both literally (in the case of Allie Katch's unfortunate injury) and figuratively. If I were to average my scores for each segment including the pre-show matches, I get a little over 5. But the overall show is a 4 because it was just way too long. I went to bed before the main event because it had already been over 5 hours, and I am in the central time zone, so it must've felt super late for those in attendance. The specter of Allie's injury put a damper on the show, but the other performers rose to the occasion. To say that the show is a 0 because it happened is unfair, in my opinion, and to say that others should not take risks is over-correcting. Production was good-not-great. It was nice to have Dave Prazak back, and I like Veda Scott. The shows without them have been tedious to listen to, especially Brett Lauderdale. However, the optics were weird. The theater was well-lit throughout making it feel like a trade show instead of a performance, and the cameras were frequently missing things or positioned poorly. For the booking, it feels like a catch 22 for GCW on these big shows. If they pivot from what brought them, like Jeff Jarrett on the previous Hammerstein show, then the fans reject it; if they stick to their guns, like on this show, fans will say they're underwhelmed for lack of big surprises (the Cardona bit). At least this was included in my normal TrillerTV+ subscription and not an a la carte PPV."
[1.0] "This was absolutely brutal. At a certain point you are just begging for a traditional match. Between the bizarre PCO promo, the owner's promo, and then Katch injury-the show never recovered. It just never felt right. The wrestlers tried so I wouldn't give it a 0 but a 1 or 2 sounds right. It was the type of viewing experience that makes you hate wrestling. You just wanted the show to desperately end and put you out of your misery."
[4.0] "So, it took me three sitting to finish the show. It was just too long, and I could not imagine trying to watch live/being there. MOTN for me would be the ECW originals vs Los Desperados. Most of the matches are fine but it just kind of exists. Allie's injury was very bad for the show."
[5.0] "It was a very mid show. Gladly I watched replay and could skip most of the unnecessary stuff and time stalling, but the VOD of 6 hours would have been brutal to watch for the quality that was shown here. I can definitely see why some people rated this show so low, if they watched it live. Probably being in the crowd at the show itself helped just a bit, but when pacing like this is all over the place - you will just get plainly tired even, if the quality of matches was good."
[5.0] "All of these zeros are crazy. This show is not somthing I'd recommend but it's not that bad. Some of the standout matches on this card are the DLC, Los Desperados/ECW, and Janela/Tanaka. Great moments on this show aswell such as Sawyer coming back, Cardona's great entrance and the tag title change. Their is tons of bad on this show aswell like the show going a long time, Allies injury, and the state athletic commission holding things up. But can you really get mad at GCW about those last two things? In my opinion you shouldn't because it coulda happened to anyone in any company. Anyway there's nothing amazing that you must go outta your way to watch but the show was fun for what it was"
[6.0] "Kinda wild to be forced to comment just to make a MID rating. We'll start with the bad. The first obvious being the injury early in the contendership match which in turn caused delays in the next contest; itself not that great. Show pacing was irregular as a result. Luckily viewing on demand meant one could skip the downtime. Also didn't really care for the overbooked cage match, and the Main Event suffered due to obvious earlier happenings. As well a match we've pretty much seen a hundred times in the past year. Can't forget having to experience a live Downstrait performance lol. Thought the Bloodsport fight was a bit better than everyone else seems to give credit for, but the result probably should've been different. Other than that, the opening DLC Unification match was really fun, the tag title match was probably the best of the night, and the Lucha-esque trios bout was pretty good. The other matches not mentioned were fine. Yet another learning point for GCW. Your move."
[1.0] "Oh, Mr. Brett, oh, oh. The hype was huge, but the show turned out to be really long and weak. There were some shots at the federation that recently organized a show there, and maybe even at others. "Sold out" arena, etc. Psss, giving away tickets for free. I read that he didn't admit to it, but there is evidence on the internet. Above all, a different "configuration." I'm not talking about hate or anything, just to avoid lying like a politician. Of course, when other federations inflate the number of sold tickets and other things, that's not okay either. GCW packed Hammerstein Ballroom to the brim with people, just like the card. Brett wants to be Paul Heyman. Returning to the matches - there was too much packed in. In the end, it was just an ordinary GCW show, and because it was hyped up for taking place in a legendary venue, the final result is even weaker. In my opinion, it turned out much worse than the first time. And then there's Allie's injury... I definitely won't be watching GCW regularly, I won't even try."
Mein Match of the Night war gleich der Opener. Tom Pestock hat sich auch richtig gut geschlagen. Dan Janela Match war auch stark."
[3.0] "lmao y'all wildin' with these 0's. I do understand a lot of the gripes in these comments, and overall this was not a good show, but this is in no way the second coming of Heroes of Wrestling like some of y'all are making it out to be. First of all there's the elephant in the room: the Allie Katch botch. It's wrestling. It happens sometimes. Yes, it was very poor judgement of her to attempt the move at all, but if she had nailed it with no problem nobody would've said anything about it. What's inexcusable, however, is the aftermath. The oversight of not having an auxiliary ambulance on standby is just bush-league. Not only is it potentially detrimental to the talents' health (what if two wrestlers got hurt at the same time? like in maybe, y'know, the 9-way ladder deathmatch that opened the show? or the 6-way scramble or TWENTY-SEVEN person battle royal on the pre-show? ), but it ground this show to an absolute standstill for a very, very long time that it really just never recovered from. Which brings me to the other big issue with the show: The runtime. Even without the ambulance delay this would've been, what, a 5.5 hour show if you include the preshow? What is it with these wrestling companies trying to make these ultra-long, epic cards when most normal humans don't want to sit around watching wrestling for that long? Lauderdale obviously tried to go for both quality AND quantity on this show, but really only achieved the second one. You could remove the cage match, Cogar/Bayne, first trios match, and Cardona stuff (or at least everything before the Jimmy Lloyd turn) and you'd still have a brisk (assuming no ambulance fuckery) 3-ish hour main card and 1.5-hour pre-show, which is still pushing it imo. All that being said, some of this is worth watching. Opening ladder was an enjoyable multi-person car crash, I really really (really) enjoyed the tag title match, and the two matches with ECW guys were very fun as well. Akeem/Vikingo, Bloodsport, and main event were all just there, idk. Not bad but not great either. For whatever reason GCW just really can't seem to get itself on the right track, and unfortunately I don't think World Champion Effy is going to make much of a difference. Lauderdale's speech to close the pre-show was very cringe, and it really just made him seem like an insecure geek. They were really setting themselves up for redemption here but it absolutely did not deliver. I dunno. Show was mostly bad due to the runtime and pure mid bloat of it all but these 0's are just crazy to me."
[8.0] "I watched this show live and it was great though a grind towards the end but that's my only gripe about this show, Allie Katch getting injured was very unfortunate and the NYAC doing their job and GCW having to adhere to their rules in a very unprepared and unexpected circumstance killed the flow of the show for a short period of time (no one's fault, accidents happen) but the VIF vs Garbage Daddies tag match brought back the energy in the building. But, by the time we got to the main event it was pushing nearly 1am and a majority of the crowd left which sucks as this was meant to be Effy's big moment. Looking at the positives: DLC Match was pure carnage and a great way to get the main show started, VIF vs GD blew my expectations out the water and I very much enjoyed this match a lot. Lucha match was excellent, very fast paced, Super Crazy recreating the ECW ONS 05 spot was awesome. Sawyer Wreck coming back one more time to fuck over Cogar was a cool moment as well. All in all this show wasn't as bad as what the comments say, the length and the amount of matches are the biggest negatives. If the Cardona matches, Bloodsport and Cage Match were taken off and moved to different shows, this would've been a way easier watch and there would've been a full crowd at the end of the show."
[5.0] "What's the famous saying? Opinions are like assholes, right. Is this show as bad as the number of 0s it is getting? I don't think so. Is it good and does it do what it set out to do and banish the demons of the previous visit to the Hammerstein? Absolutely not. Going into the show, I already felt the number of announced matches and the number of wrestlers booked was already at ridiculous levels, and then the worst happened and Allie was seriously injured. Once everything was out of kilter, that was it really. The guard rails did feel very close to the ring from the get go, particularly for a show where you knew there would be dives, and sadly Allie was the one who paid the price for that. To concentrate on the good stuff for a minute. The ladder match was great, the pre-show scramble was good fun, Los Desperadoes vs the ECW legends was really good and was the first time, and perhaps one of the only times, after the injury that the crowd just fully invested again and there was a buzz in the room. I thought Joey vs Tanaka was good, and I really enjoyed Bayne vs Cogar (Atticus' entrance gear was a superb decision, and made him look so much more the psychopath than Mason). The not so good. A cage match in the middle of the show is awkward on the indies, and the Mason storyline had always been just a little too farfetched. Booking a random nobody to face Cardona was pointless, should have just had the Jimmy Lloyd turn there if anything. The Bloodsport match was entirely unnecessary. Vikingo feels a bit of a shell of himself right now, and Akeem isn't good enough to carry that match. And by the time we reach the main event, everyone is drained and the title change is now not getting more respect. Marketing your show on the lines GCW did was always a risk, and it has bitten them in the arse here. Too many matches, too long a show, too many people, not enough quality."
[0.0] "The haters said he couldn't do it. And they were correct; honestly, a great call from the haters. Everything about this show was cursed and doomed to failure. Seriously, when your selling point for a show is "we know we sucked last time we were here, but give us a chance! ", that doesn't fill people with confidence. Brett Lauderdale clearly thinks of himself as the Paul E Dangerously of the new generation - especially with the rah-rah promo biting the hands that are feeding you talent - but Paul had, and still has, a charisma that Brett solidly lacks - never would Heyman script his promos, nevertheless read them from the Notes app on his phone - leading to a promo even more cringe than PCO giving his TNA belt the Madusa treatment five minutes previous. And it's through this Temu Paul E act that the biggest sin occurs: AEW running the Hammerstein last month clearly rattled Brett, and so obsessed was he to beat their attendance (including, if you believe the scuttlebutt, personally comping tickets), he packed people a little too close to the ring... which led to Allie breaking her leg. Poor woman, I sincerely hope that she recovers quickly, because that injury was gnarly. And from there, well, the show went off the rails after the SAC had the talent vamp for half an hour so they could get more medical personnel in, and afterwards, it never picked up. Though, if we're going to be honest, there wasn't much of a chance that was going to happen anyway, with middling-at-best matches doing nothing but expose just how badly the show was produced from top to bottom (Why have a cage match in the middle of the card? Why have a bloodsport match on a show that Barnett isn't booking? Why, after Ricky Starks got pulled, send Matt Cardona anyway just to waste everyone's time? ), and you could tell by how progressively emptier the Ballroom got as the night went on. When the biggest pop of the night goes to Luigi Mangione, you know something's wrong. Let's sincerely hope that the next "The People vs. GCW" doesn't happen in a courtroom, because the way things are going, that seems inevitable."
[0.0] "I can enjoy the small indies and I'm obviously more lenient when it comes to them, but that won't be the case here since before the show even started they are taking shots at TNA and AEW so this clearly another attempt from them at joining the big time, as such I will be holding this show to the same level of scrutiny as I would a TNA or ROH one. Obviously they have failed miserably once again, production was bad, the commentary was annoying, especially the woman, show dragged on far too long with way too many needless matches. Just amateur hour all around, every single idiotic indy trope was present here. Cardona's BS matches were a complete waste of time as well, just like they were the last time they ran this building. I mainly feel bad for the girl injuring herself for such a needless spot, nobody care about a suicide dive these days so why do it? Why was the barrier so close to the ring with no fans anywhere near it? Why did nobody tell the girl that clearly has not one athletic bone in her body not to do such a move? The answer is obvious, they don't know what they are doing and they have no agents or any real pros to help them, despite GCW hyping themselves up they always will be a small indy that occasionally draws large crowds. They once again tried to hit the mainstream but their roster mostly consists of skinny flippy guys and out of shape deathmatch 'wrestlers' and all the washed up has beens they brought in just for this occasion clearly didn't help either. The worst aspects of indy wrestling were on full display here, stupid overly contrived stunts, poor or nonexistant selling, meaningless flippyshit, poor comedy, you name it, this show had it. Most people on this card wouldn't even be fit to be comedy jobbers in a real fed yet they have them winning belts and expecting people to take them seriously. They destroy TNA's belt on the same night that company put on one of the best shows they've done in years and the big time GCW serves up this disaster. Like I said before, I'm holding this show to the same standard as I would a TNA, ROH etc one since they consider themselves to be on the same level now, and this was miles off, if any respectable company would offer this they would be relentlessly mocked for years, imagine people like Cole Radrick, Jimmy Lloyd or Atticus Cougar showing up in those feds, never in a million years would it happen yet GCW tries to tell us they are on the same level. I rate this show as low as this due to the sheer delusional arrogance of its owner to talk such a big game and underdeliver in such fashion, as the Rock would say, know your role and shut your mouth, jabroni. Stick to deathmatches in front of 200 people."
"Un evento mediocre luchas flojas me esperaba mucho más pero el evento terminó decepcionado muchísimo, el dueño de esta empresa es un traídor a los ideales de Czw y se merece que falle con esta empresa"
[4.0] "I can sympathise for the live fans who had to endure a 6 hour ppv with mostly midling matches. As this is my first GCW show apart from the annual Wrestlemania week marathon, and watching this a day after, I could absolutely say it wasn't up to the hardcore GCW fan's standard. But I will say this, I see a lot of hate on the 6 man tag that followed the injury that they were stalling it too much. I personally thought it was very professional of all 6 man to "entertain" the live crowd until they were cleared. So yeah big ups to them"
[1.0] "First, my heart goes out to Allie Katch, who I hope recovers well from her snapped ankle. Even so, what a dreadful show. GCW is excessive in how many people it books and in match quantity, but there was no reason for this show to flirt with six hours long. Allie's injury probably changed the main event, but we have to evaluate the matches that actually happen, and Effy vs. Mance Warner was no good. Matt Cardona wasn't particularly good, Tom Pestock/Baron Corbin is a dreadful fit for GCW, and Atticus Cogar's botched air raid crash to Megan Bayne is one of the most reckless things I've seen in years. The decent stuff in the middle like the Masato Tanaka match was overwhelmed by the show length. It's ironic that GCW focused on making this show an apology for their first Hammerstein venture, when this show was nearly as putrid. Go away. 1/10."
[3.0] "The 0.0 drive-by ratings that seem to be based 90% on Allie Katch breaking her leg are mystifying, but that's wrestling fandom for you: if it happened within the last hour, it's either the best thing you've ever seen in your life, or the worst thing you've ever seen, with no in-between. This show absolutely should not have been six hours long. By the end, I was just kind of numb to anything good or bad. Some of the matches could have been parceled out to be main events on smaller shows in different markets. Just too much stuff, some very good, some very bad, most of it aggressively average. It was like watching one of the Wrestlemanias with a way-too-long runtime, just with worse production values."
[8.0] "Lol what in the hell is this tribalism/bot stuff going on here? This show was great! Not perfect of course but a hell of a lot better than their tepid first Hammerstein show. Opening match was a 10/10 car crash spectacle that GCdub does best, that'll def be one of my favorite GCW matches of the year. Tag title match absolutely rocked, Bayne/Cogar was excellent and the main event was great. Glad to see Jimmy finally break free, too. Yes most of the show felt off because of the unfortunate injury (get well soon queen! ) but that's not a reason for a negative rating. Kirk and Wreck got nice send-offs, and Amazing Red got an emotional moment in the ring too. Also PCO quit Impact live on the air and that was sick as hell. It wasn't all perfect, the Bloodsport match was tame, the cage match was dulled by the overall feud being terrible and the NY OG's match was buckled by the delay. And yeah it was way too long. But the rest really delivered! Great lucha matches, comedy bookings, tag matches and massacres, an array of what GCW does best. Looking forward to rewatching some of this. Imagine if the Hammerstein allowed blood, though. C'mon guys! My main question to all the people downvoting this: if you don't like GCW, why did you watch this?"
[7.0] "I don't write reviews on Cagematch very often. In case you can't tell from my name, I'm sort of a lurker and rarely very interested in stating earnest opinions. But this is one of those rare times where I feel like I need to step in because the response to this show is heinous. I'm only now discovering that GCW is not very well liked among the IWC, and I haven't done enough research to fully understand why, but I'm a fan of the promotion and have been for many years. I've seen them put on some perfect shows and I've seen them host some stinkers. This was neither perfect, nor stinker. This was a good show with minor problems, and for whatever reason the minor problems are vastly overshadowing the good stuff. The opening DLC match was a wonderful, violent blast. VIF vs Gahbage Daddies absolutely cooked. Janela vs Tanaka was nuts. I even thought Bayne vs Cogar and the OGs vs F'N Pros six-man match were good too! Obviously, as a human being with a heart, I hated seeing Allie get injured and hope nothing but the best and most successful recovery for her. And to anyone using PCO's shoot on TNA as an excuse for crapping on this show, remove mouth from boot and get real. That was sick."
[6.0] "Annoying tribalists downvoting this. Yes it was long. Yes, there was an injury that messed up the pacing of the show. Yes, none of the matches were all-time classics, but really this was an average show and was better than the last Hammerstein show as it was booked like an actual GCW show that existed in the actual GCW timeline instead of some sort of ECW Reunion/Fantasy match show like the last one. The Extreme DLC match was good for what it was and had a credible winner. Everyone had good spots. Tag Title match was also solid with a well-received title change. The Main event was fine. Don't know why it has such low ratings. Yes, this match wasn't as good as their one at the Collective but NY Commission rules really limited what they could do here. This was fine. Untwist your panties."
[8.0] "(Watched live) Was very confused this morning to see this level of negativity. Being at a show live effects the experience for sure. I have noticed I might like something more if I saw it rather than not. However I really had a blast at this show despite the length and the injury (which GCW really has no control over). This show was not perfect match quality wise either but nothing for me was anywhere close the rating I am seeing this show at. Ladder match was such a good way to kick off the show. Allie injury afterwards followed by the delay hurt this show a lot. Once the tag titles match went on I think the show gained it's steam back. Cardona stuff I found pretty funny but I can't lie and say I wish it went another route a little more serious. Effy winning was cool but everyone was just so burnt out by that point. If you really think this show was a 0 I just simply don't think you've seen enough bad wrestling. Ladder, tag titles, ECW 6 man, Bayne vs Cogar, and Joey vs Tanka I would recommend seeking out."
[1.0] "I went into this wanting to give GCW another chance, and I was having a good time during the pre-show but holy mother of God did this turn into a train wreck of an evening. Listen, I don't think it's Heroes of Wrestling bad, some of you are being dramatic, but it's def. got some stink on it. Major stink, a funk they aren't ever going to wash away because every time I put themselves on a big stage they end up shitting the bed, and they are never going to grow outside of their niche of deathmatch weirdos. I was going to give this a 3 and call it a night and just say that is was weird circumstances with Allie's injury, but then the Matt Cardona parade of nonsense and a WAY too long Effy/Mance match that half the crowd was leaving during because it was already past midnight and this show was already over 6 hours long and I was like, nope fuck this show. They were like we know, the last Hammerstein show sucked and then they proved critics wrong by putting on an even worse show. Incredible. Time for Brett to go to his Notes App and book the next one to be even worse."
[6.0] "show went to long but it was far from bad. the main event did have the Allie catch injury surrounding it which was unfortunate. her injury did provoke Grim Reffer to threaten the athletic commissioner cause he was stalling the show for a bit which was hilarious. im very confused by the 0s for the show but I guess to each there own. top 3 matches Los Desperados v Little Guido, Super Crazy and Tajiri, Gahbage Daddies v VIF and the 8 way ladder match. Janela v Tanaka and Bayne v Cougar are up there for me too. I liked Cardona's 3 matches as jimmy finally is splitting from him and he got to have a moment. overall did have higher expectations for some matches but I still enjoyed watching. note: very obvious to tell who's being negative about the show because the speech Brett gave where he said they had the highest gate or something for Hammerstein in the past 30 days which is a clear shot at aew weather he realizes it or not. it wasnt bad but very obvious to tell who's hung up on it lol"
Alles was danach passierte war sehr traurig. Gute Besserung an Allie.
[4.0] "This was not the showcase GCW needed to drum up interest in its product. Between the injury of Allie Katch casting a dark cloud over the show that bled into the awful long stall fest to start the Six Man Tag Match that followed to using ECW legends from 3 decades ago to pad out the card. This just wasn't it and I almost wish I would have just skipped this PPV all together."
"Just a comment to draw attention to this seemingly being a review bomb on Cagematch. At the time of this comment, half of the card is rated 6+ and the other half of the card doesn't have enough votes for a total rating. In other words, 30+ people have drive-by given this show a 3 or lower rating while not rating a single individual match."
[2.0] "I hate to do this since this was one of GCWs main cards so far this year. They have been promoting it for some time now. This just fell flat. The show did not seem to be any more important than any show they put on. Some matches were ok but most didn't live up to the hype. I would have given it a but since this was heavily promoted and came up short I gave it a two. Ally Catch going down to injury, I hope she isn't to badly hurt, really killed this for me. I was looking forward to her appearance the most."
"Not the best, not the worst. Definitely could have cut some of the fat, but some of it was because of Allies injury (get well soon), so booking became chaotic. The tag title change was great and the crowd was super hype for it. Half the matches seemed out of left field and more of filler. I feel if Allie didn't get hurt, we would have had 2 great matches with loads of story."
[3.0] "I really wanted to like this show. But the quality of both booking was sub-par most of the show. It felt like most of the matches didn't click and the whole Matt Cardona big reveal was a failure in my opinion. It was a shame with the delay but I'm glad they took their time to treat Allie Katch. I'm also very happy to see Effy win the GCW title, but it didn't feel special when everyone basicly stormed out of the building as soon as the ref counted 3. I really wanted to like this show, but for me it just didn't click. Hope GCW can bounce back and go on to bigger and better things."
[8.0] "The show was nowhere near as bad as everyone else is acting like it is, yes there was obviously some bad but its nothing below a 5 rating in my opinion. Some stuff they couldn't control, injuries happen and i hope Allie recovers quickly! The New York Athletic commission is very stricted so they had the delay which sucked. The ladder match was good, cage match was alright. Love Cardona but i think bringing that Tommy Invincible dude in for this show was horrible, could have worked at a smaller GCW show but not on their biggest stage, i love Micro Man so that was cool, hated to see Broski Jimmy turn on Cardona but it will be cool to see Jimmy do his thing again! Los Desperados vs Tajiri Super Crazy and Little Guido was my match of the night, it was perfect everyone in that match did exactly what they should have and it was an amazing spectacle! NYC OGs were awesome loved that Red got inducted into the HOF after the match it is very deserved. Kerry Morton and Griffin McCoy are good young heels and Tony Deppen has been one of the most reliable guys on the indies for years now so NYC OGs vs Real FN Pros was good. Main event was okay, would have rather had Mance win because he is a good heel and can work, EFFY is a draw and has a great connection with the fans but his punches are horrible but otherwise he is a good wrestler who the people love! Show was good i feel people were just sour over Lauderdales comments about the other company that ran Hammerstein last month"
[5.0] "A sine wave of a show. Strong start - the scramble, the DLC match, and even the rumble brought great chaos energy. Allie's injury, and the subsequent needing to stall due to NYAC requirements for a new ambulance to arrive threw everything off. Tag title match was hot, only for the momentum to be ground to a solid halt by the wildly unnecessary Mason/Holiday cage match. Vikingo/Akeem didn't click, but the Desperados six man did, and then the show again runs into the wall with a plodding Bloodsport match. Janela/Tanaka was fine, the Cardona thing was one fake-out too many, and the main has been done better multiple times in 2024. Not as dire as the voting current stands but not the home run GCW needed. [attended in person]"
[1.0] "Let's not sugarcoat this: This was a bad show. GCW should consider not running a show this big because they are clearly not ready for it. They went 0 for 2 at Hammerstein. It's a show marred with issues. Running a show on a Sunday night in NYC that ends on Monday is shortsighted. Having to give out free tickets months in advance because you're not selling well should be a big indicator that it's not working out. Allie Katch getting severely injured certainly derailed things and should be seen as a bad omen. Stripping GCW of what makes it GCW just to draw a bigger house is a form of selling out. And if you're gonna sell out, at least be successful at it."
[0.0] "I only watch like 2-3 GCW shows throughout the year and this is by far the worse overall in terms of fun. About two to three watchable matches on a 12 card show. Just check out the two 6 man tags and the tag title if you like brainless go brrrrr style mind-numbing American indie tag matches. The ladder match is watchable until the finish since everyone had already wiped out doing the crazy shit. Felt soul sucking by the time we reached that god awful cage match. Vikingo and Akeem played it super safe with only one crazy spot. Everything else can be binned. Stinky ass shit. Would have been funny if the athletics commission canceled the show after that unfortunate injury that Allie got. Shout-out to Dr. Redacted, Mr. Danger."
[2.0] "After 6 hours of the show, I can't say I was fully entertained. The show was way too long with too many uninteresting matches. The few that stood out were really good and almost bangers. Thanks to Cardona and the comedy wrestling for saving the end of the show. It was a show full of happy endings and nice stories, but too many good stories spoil the nice ones. Clearly, I gave GCW another shot, but I'll be skipping them once again."
[0.0] "This was a brutal, torturous watch that I didn't even pay to watch, yet I feel like I want a refund. This was dull, boring, long, and felt never-ending. I won't even talk about the absolutely BRUTAL Allie Katch injury (Prayers to her and if you can, please support her gofundme), but everything about this show was just flat out BAD. The highlight of the show was Blake Christian on the preshow and Super Crazy on the main show. The crowd and atmosphere was all of balance off of the Allie injury and subsequent delay to the show due to the New York athletic commission and by the second to last match, the crowds were visibly leaving and angry. I think Hammerstein and GCW are either cursed or Lauderdale holds his company to a MUCH higher standard than everyone else, including the diehards of the product."
[0.0] "Is Lauderdale a real person? Are we sure? Almost irredeemable. Opens with a nice little ladder match, at least. Lotta people calling Allie's injury unavoidable, but maybe if the barriers weren't like, 3 feet from the ring, she'd be fine. Every match aside from the ECW nostalgia 6 man was dogshit. Everything has a sense of ego and misplaced self-importance for a promotion that just frankly does not matter. Embarrassing show, can't wait for the next one."
[1.0] "Over booked and poorly booked. This promotion once was great. Seem to have lost its way. The first Hammerstein gig was ran very similar to this. You would have think they would have learned their lesson? The current roster has some very capable people. Unfortunately the promoter does not believe enough in their drawing power so it's booked like an absolute mess."
[2.0] "GCW proves once again to never be worth of value. They chose to make a storyline out of how bad their last Hammerstein show was and they followed up with a better, but much more forgettable show. It doesn't look like there's a single over act in GCW currently from the crowd reactions. Lauderdale doesn't have a clue what he's doing."
[6.0] "I was at the first GCW Hammerstein show and had a blast; I remember being surprised by the reactions to it but it made sense given the mix of GCW originals vs outside talent and the burdens of expectations that put on things. This one is even more fascinating and surprising to me. I think it was a worse show but mostly due to the uncontrollable; Allie's unfortunate injury and the delays really messed with the flow of the entire show. But the booking here is much stronger than the previous show and sets up the state of the company well. I guess GCW is just cursed with Hammerstein? Because this was a pretty standard GCW; maybe that's the problem but its far from the worst thing I've ever seen. I'm pretty far from the main circles of wrestling discussion anymore so if there's some sort of angry tribalism rebuttal then maybe that's it? Who cares if so pick up a football."
[4.0] "About an hour into the main card, this show was looking like an absolute disaster. But with the help of the tag title match, GCW steadied the course and delivered, at the very least, an NYC marathon of decent/solid matches that gave fans their money's worth even if they were exhausted at the end. (I guess this time they didn't have to worry about the notorious curfew that cut the last Hammerstein show so short.) With the state's restrictions on violence, it was definitely hard to pick out any one thing from this ostensibly milestone night that will carry the promotion into the future - I never got the sense that there was a real groundswell of support for Effy as world champ. But particularly for those in attendance, this card had its share of memorable moments - Super Crazy moonsaulting off the balcony, Tanaka eating chair shots, the Jimmy Lloyd pop - that saved it from being irredeemable."
[7.0] "I guess Cagematch isn't deleting meme votes anymore. This was a solid show aside from the unfortunate and unforeseen delay regarding Allie Katch's injury. It did feel like she was going to be in the main event so they had to pivot to on short notice, but made the best of it. It was great seeing guys like Tajiri and Masato Tanaka still cooking in 2025. Super Crazy had the spot of the night with his balcony dive as well. Megan Bayne v Atticus Cogar was good and very hard hitting. The run ins in that match made sense as well. The Bloodsport match didn't really do it for me, kinda wish they'd keep those on the Bloodsport shows only. Sabu standing still pointing was very funny, I think he expected Joey Janela to turn around way faster than that. They went off air basically as soon as the main event ended, they were running super late and long at that point (mostly due to the delay, but they could've started the main show a little earlier imo). Overall a solid show, nothing amazing, but definitely nothing deserving of 20 people meme voting 0."
[6.0] "A long show but a better show from GCW than their previous Hammerstein outing. The show endured some issues following an unfortunately terrible injury to Allie Katch in the second main show match. Best wishes to her on her recovery. The injury caused a delay in the show for the following match. The main show ended around 12:33 AM EST which is not much later than how late some other companies' PPVs go that didn't endure delays from the NYC Athletic Commission. There were a number of enjoyable matches such as the DLC ladder, the VIF/Gahbage Daddies tag, the Los Desperados/ECW originals trios match, and Janela/Tanaka. Most other matches on the show were solid at least with the right results as well as payoffs such as Sawyer Wreck's surprise appearance in Atticus/Megan after Atticus spoiled Sawyer's moment at NGI9. The most panned result of the show was the result of the Bloodsport match as the crowd wanted Tom Pestock to win. It's hard to say if Effy/Allie was supposed to have a conclusive result like it did due to the injury because a triple threat with Allie/Mance/Effy would have felt more unique after Effy and Mance had six singles matches in 2024 but Mance and Effy did the best that they could at the end of a long night giving the result I feel most expected. Overall a better show than GCW's previous Hammerstein show while most of the matches had been built up with a payoff to it. Nowhere near the ratings that some users have dealt this show as of this writing."
[0.0] "What an absolute mess of a PPV. The booking choices were baffling, the event saw a serious injury to Allie Katch (wishing her a speedy recovery), and most of the matches felt painfully slow and dragged on far too long. On top of that, whose idea was it to let Super Crazy attempt a moonsault off the balcony after a major injury had already occurred earlier in the show?"
"The show was way, way, WAY too long with no real standout matches plus a really unfortunate, gnarly injury. Just for the life of me can't comprehend what was going through Brett Lauderdale's mind with this one. Not Legends of Wrestling bad, but this event just didn't have any real redeemable qualities. A shame."
[0.0] "I feel bad for GCW (In a VERY small way) since the Allie injury clearly put a weird atmosphere over the whole show, but it feels like this was just poorly paced regardless of that. Not even just the many bad matches, but also lots and LOTS of plodding around. The DLC Match was a clear high point, at least a 3-4 of these matches should have been dropped in exchange for a shorter but more well-paced show."
"GCW is know for their stacked match cards, but unfortunately this show proved that sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. With twelve matches on the main card and two on the pre-show this PPV ran nearly 5.5 hours, and boy do you feel it. Honestly, for the most part the match quality throughout the event was pretty good, with the Cardona gauntlet being the only noticeable dud, but after a certain point fatigued really started to set in for both the live and streaming audience. The reception to the latter half especially suffers from burnout. I'll commend the GCW management for learning from the last Hammerstein event and prioritising homegrown talent this time around, but sometimes not everyone can bask in the spotlight. It they had cut the main card down to six or seven matches I guarantee the feedback would have been so much more favorable. All that being said the overall show was a vast improvement from their previous outing and bouts like the DLC, Tag Titles, Lucha 6-man, Cogar vs Bayne, and Janela vs Tanaka are all worth checking out."
[0.0] "Wow I HATED this show. I was really excited for this, I even flew to NYC for the first Hammerstein show. We were promised that this show would right the wrongs of the last GCW Hammerstein show which was a self admitted disaster. This show just had a whole new crop of issues, the allie match ending injury was just something that was unfortunate and could not be helped, but it affected the entire night. this show had multiple 20-30 minute stoppages, more then it had good matches on the night! the fans were actively rejecting multiple matches, how many babyfaces got booed out of the building? 3? 4? There was not a single thing to like about this show and plenty to hate."
Also hier geht absolut KEINE Empfehlung raus. Holt es nicht nach. Haltet Abstand von der wie Gandalf sagen würde:, , Flieht ihr Narren""
[0.0] "You know what? This is the first "real indie company" to run the Hammerstein. I've firmly been of the belief that GCW is a shindie that refuses to accept its identity as a shindie, and yeah, this is just further proof of it. Not a singular match from this match was good, not a singular moment where I thought any of it was good. I knew it was doomed when Brett read the speech that he wrote from the notes app, then the show went for 6 hours. Only one or two miles ahead from the first Hammerstein show, and three miles closer to the inevitable death croak for GCW. No recommendations, all abysmal."
[3.0] "Unfortunately not the redemption that GCW wanted after their last Hammerstein show. I'm not a regular watcher of GCW, but I hoped this show would be a good jumping off point to convince me, and other new fans, to hop on board. The pre-show started alright, with a very fun scramble match and a messy, but entertaining rumble. After that Brett Lauderdale decided to come out and take veiled shots at other promotions while reading a speech off his notes app in a way that felt needlessly bitter for a show which should be a big celebration of the company he, and the wrestlers, worked hard on. The main show itself started off promising with the title unification match, which had some inventive ladder and table spots. Things took a turn after, with Effy/Katch ending in an unfortunate injury. While there were a few solid matches on the card after that point, nothing really stuck out and no foundation was really created to convince me to tune in to future shows. It was also way too long with nearly 5.5 hours of wrestling on the card. GCW books some of the coolest wrestlers on the indies, and has an compelling mission statement, but the company keeps getting in its own way."
[2.0] "Some aspects of the show worked. The kick-off scramble was a solid start, though Blake Christian deserved a higher spot on the card. The Rumble was entertaining, with PCO's TNA callback providing some levity. The GCW Unification Match was the match of the night, showcasing what the roster can deliver when everything aligns. The six-man spotfest was another bright spot with enjoyable action. However, there were significant issues throughout the show. The match placement was a problem, as opening with the Unification Match set the show up for a downward trajectory. The tag division struggles were apparent, with the Tag Title match feeling sloppy and uncoordinated despite the individual talent of wrestlers like Kevin Ku and Alec Price. Overdone gimmicks, including the BTK killer and serial killer tropes, felt tired and poorly executed, detracting from the matches. Mason vs. Holliday was overbooked with interferences, making the cage stipulation meaningless. Josh Barnett vs. Tom Pestock was another low point, dealing a blow to the prestige of the Bloodsport style. The main event failed to provide a satisfying conclusion or emotional impact. Pacing issues were also a major problem, as the show dragged on to the point that even a Vikingo match couldn't bring the energy back. Overall, there seems to be an overarching issue with questionable booking decisions that made matches feel aimless or repetitive. GCW also seems to be losing the identity that once made it exciting and unique."
