[7.0] "The end of an era. The final WCW Clas of the Champions card. That ending with Sting standing over the arena and the nWo in the ring while that monologue plays is peak WCW and it was really effective, even of the bird bitched his spot. Matches were fine, but it was the angle that was important."

[4.0] "Like basically everything from this era of WCW, this was bad, though definitely not the worst offering from this period. Jarrett vs Mongo was pointless and uninteresting, with Jarrett's generic heel work and bland beatdown offence, plus Mongo's physically limited babyface work. Eddie's interference to accidentally cost Jarrett the match was a very lame finish. *3/4. Wright's short interview with Gene where he riled up the crowd with super low-hanging-fruit insults was really dull. Raven vs Richards was fine but needed longer. Raven's brawl work was decent, as was Richards' selling/bumping. Richards' had an okay comeback leading to some fine trades between the two of them before Raven hit a nice (and well-received) DDT for the win. **1/2. The pre-match video going over Ultimo's history and showcasing his skills was great, covering everything you could possible need in order to get excited about seeing him perform. Ultimo vs Wright was decent and easily MOTN. It started with some nice grappling while introducing Wright's subtle but effective heel work and Ultimo's confident and well-received babyface work. All of Ultimo's attacks had very strong technique and good impact, while Wright had good technique but also superior impact to reflect his strength advantage. Ultimo made some good comebacks with some flashy attacks in the final 1/3rd, and with Wright hitting some good corresponding cut-offs. They then traded some more nice moves and near falls in the final few minutes leading to Wright getting the win. ***. Jericho vs Eddie was the WCW special: a good match heavily undermined by its length and finish. Eddie impressed with his slimy heel work, aggressive beatdown work, and agility. Jericho had a few decent counters but was also noticeably sloppy, and his generic 'fiery babyface' character remained incredibly dull. A real shame the match ended just with a series of generic roll-up trades after only 6 minutes. What a waste. **1/2. The lucha 8-man tag was super short and probably one of the weaker WCW lucha multi-man tags at this point. This was mostly because of their many overly cooperative exchanges and spots, without even the impressive creativity or athleticism to make up for it. It also didn't help that the crowd was pretty dead for it all until the car-crash dives began (which was the only remotely interesting part of the match). **1/4. The 'Dinner and a Movie' presenters surprisingly teaming up with Savage before getting run-off by DDP was pretty cheesy but undeniably fun. Respect to Gilmartin for his solid Diamond Cutter bump. Konnan & Syxx vs Hennig & Flair was another match so short and uneventful as to be almost entirely pointless. Everyone did their thing for the brief time they were allotted, which mostly amounted to a lot of brawling and some really generic spots. Technique was fine enough, but there was nothing else here. **. The post-match continuation of Hennig's "will he, won't he" Four Horseman story offered no actual developments and hit really flat because of Hennig's repeated nonchalant delivery. Savage & Hall vs DDP & Luger was fine for a typical 'nWo vs WCW' match. There was a big focus on the standard nWo beatdown work, with Hall at least doing a bit more than the minimum due to the good impact he got on his attacks. There was good energy and babyface-selling from DDP and Luger, even if their offence was never anything special. Luger hyping up the crowd as he ran around the ring for his hot tag was pretty cool, though the accidental friendly fire between DDP and Luger leading to Hall's pin was super underwhelming (though totally unsurprising). **1/2. The show-ending segment of Sting interrupting from the rafters and staring down the celebrating nWo before his vulture lurks around the ring ropes was really unique, making for a cool and positive finish to an otherwise poor show."

[6.0] "Would've been a damp squib if not for a couple bouts. Wright and Ultimo was predictably decent with a surprising finish and the eight man tag was slightly less chaotic - in a good way - than you'd expect. I didn't even mind the Dinner and a Movie segment. Of course it ends with the cool Sting and vulture visual, so all is well that ends well. At least it felt "Clashy" with there being four title matches."

[6.0] "We bid farewell to the Clash of the Champions series with an installment that wasn't quite as strong as the previous entry but certainly wasn't a bad watch. The main focus here was certainly on building up to the NWO Souled Out show the following week, but let's be honest, this final Clash was a way better show in and of itself. The main event did a good job of showing how, without a leader to rally around, the WCW stars still couldn't quite get on the same page against the NWO as DDP accidentally Diamond Cuts Luger leading to their loss, only for Sting to show up in the rafters to menace the heels during their post-match celebration. The Flair/Hennig vs. Konnan/Syxx match was OK but a little too short and the main purpose was to tease Hennig's turn against the Horsemen. On the undercard, Ultimo Dragon and Alex Wright put in a good effort, Jericho and Eddie did fine with the time they were given (a bad botch by Jericho notwithstanding) though this would be far from their best match; the lucha 8-man was fun if very short; Raven and Richards that would be the high point of Stevie's very short WCW run (I always forget he was in the company to begin with); and Mongo vs. Jarrett was, well, a Mongo match. The Dinner and a Movie segment was entertaining too with the hosts turning to the NWO and Paul taking the Diamond Cutter from DDP (I guess Annabelle was loyal to WCW since she wasn't there for the angle). By the end the Clash was no longer a supershow unto itself and instead was effectively an extension of Nitro and an extra bit of PPV build, but at least the series ended fairly strong with Sting menacing the bad guys."

[8.0] "I thought it was a good Clash, maybe not what I would end it on but there was plenty of story and wrestling was good outside Mongo and Jarret. Konnan and Syxx vs Henning and Flair could have been better but I think they were rushed for time. Happy Birthday nWo."

[5.0] "This was the last Clash Of The Champions, and while it was no longer anything special in reality that was more down to the weekly TV shows getting better than these shows getting much worse. Most of the matches were more about storylines than wrestling, and the whole thing felt like a slightly flashier episode of Nitro. Not an embarassing way to go out, but not a triumph either."

[8.0] "The final Clash of the Champions and they went out with a good one. Mongo/Jarrett was way better than it had any right to be, the 8 Man Tag Team match was fun and I wish it went longer, and a great ending with Sting making his presence known to the still red hot nWo."

[6.0] "The final installment of Clash of the Champions. And though they didn't go out with a bang, it was still a rock solid show from top to bottom. Wright/Dragon, Jericho/Eddie and the cruiserweight tags were all quality bouts. All of the short matches, with the exception of the opener, were alright too. The main event was perfectly acceptable tag team wrestling that saw some good tag psychology."
