[7.0] "This was an entertaining event, even if it was just an extra Nitro at this point in WCW's history. You had a terrific match between Malenko and Ultimo Drago, a couple of good ones in Benoit/Sullivan and the trios. The main event was fine."

[7.0] "By this point it was pretty obvious, if it hadn't been already, that the Clash specials were pretty superfluous in a WCW schedule that now included monthly PPVs and a two-hour Nitro, as well as the Muthaship still plugging along on Saturday nights. But they were still able to pull off a pretty solid show. Luger vs. Hall in the main event was fine, despite the predictable NWO shenanigans; Malenko vs. Ultimo Dragon was great as expected; the Steiners vs. Canadians was a solid Tag Title bout; Chavo/Jericho/Calo vs. Konnan/Parka/JL was a lot of fun; Benoit and Sullivan just couldn't seem to avoid fighting in bathrooms in another wild brawl, and Guerrero vs. Norton was a well-crafted power-vs.-finesse match even if the main focus was on DDP's interference. Nothing on the rest of the show was offensive either."

Granted, on paper, this card has some rotten apples, but I quite enjoyed seeing Gomez and Renegade take a beating. Chono and Wright was pretty rough, but even Enos and Riggs was up to snuff. Despite the fact the main even finished the usual NWO way, the angle's hot, and the crowd are excited for it. Hard to fault the variety. For my money this might be a top 5 Clash for entertainment value. Yup."

[7.0] "Dean Malenko and Ultimo Dragon should open ever WCW show until 2001. Skip Scotty Riggs and Mike Enos. 6 man lucha action was awesome but Konnan is too big to rock with these guys, Super Calo is awesome though glad to see him again. Skip Harlem Heat vs The jobbers, poor Joe Gomez and The Renegade. Chono after his injury is just isn't as good as he use to be. Eddy vs Scott was a clash of styles that I didn't care for but I'm hyped the nWo ppv. Benoit and Taskmaster continue their feud in crazy matches. The Steiners vs The Quebecers was awesome and Scott looks huge. Lex Lugar and Scott Hall put on a mediocre match but the win one for WCW."

[5.0] "Clash Of The Champions as a meaningful concept was dead by this point, this was just a slightly souped-up Nitro, and mostly just promoted the upcoming NWO Souled out PPV a few days later. It wasn't terrible - in fact, it may well have been better than some of the earlier Clashes - but it juts wasn't special in any way. As usual with WCW events around this time, the opener was great and the main event awful."

[6.0] "The Clash of the Champions concept has pretty much lost all of its aura at this point due to Nitro also being 2 hrs and all. But this was an overall solid show. The cruiserweight title match was by far the best of the bunch, as expected. A great match between two quality talents. The six man tag and the FCA bout were loads of fun in its short time. Main event was solid, if not underwhelming. The rest of the card was just there. I think the main problem here is the number of needless matches that serve better being put on weekly TV."

Best match was the wild sprinting brawl between Sullivan and Benoit, as they fight their way through the bathroom once again in a crazy brawl. Also thought Norton vs. Eddie was a great quick match, not to mention that awesome lucha trios match. Ultimo/Malenko was very good, Luger/Hall was very good despite the DQ finish, Steiners/AFC was fun... yeah, top notch show."

[6.0] "I don't see the point of this supershow in 1997 when it's almost the same of an episode of Nitro, even with filler matches and squashes that don't fill together in a supershow. The opening match is amazing, the rest is okay, also another good Benoit vs Sullivan match and the trios match. The main event is a bit disappointing, but one of the best in-ring work from Lex Luger."
