1926.01.2025TH08107.0The return of Saturday Night's Main Event, and it was pretty decent. The matches themselves were nothing too special, however the pacing of the matches really made them feel worse than what they could've been (which I'd say is done better in the one from 25th Jan). However, the matches weren't bad by any means. Drew & Sami had a good opener, Liv vs Iyo was fine for Iyo basically being in control for 75% of the match, the Triple Threat was the highlight of the night in terms of matches, the first Women's US Title match was also good for what it was, and congratulations to the very deserving Chelsea Green on becoming the inaugural champion, and the main event was also good but I felt like they didn't need to overdo the ref bumps in that match. Overall though, a good show. Drew/Sami - ***1/2, Liv/Iyo - ***, Gunther/Priest/Balor - ***3/4, Michin/Chelsea - ***, Cody/KO - ***1/2.
2026.01.2025Open The Vault7.0The Return of Saturday Night's Main Event was a welcome one! A very consistent card spliced with good matches and moments throughout and in general I managed to have a wonderful time watching this. Drew vs. Sami, IYO vs. Liv, The Triple Threat, Michin vs. Green and KO vs. Cody. All of those matches meant something and the ending despite being off the show was awesome with KO giving Cody a Package Piledriver! Loving the story between Cody and KO. Good show overall. [***1/2]

2218.01.2025DanTalksRasslin6.0A fine enough TV special. All matches here were at least decent, with the triple threat championship match between Gunther, Priest and Balor standing out as the best of the lot. Cody vs Owens was also a good TV main event that was clearly designed as just one stop on their ongoing feud, and the McIntyre vs Zayn match and both women's matches were perfectly cromulent. Also nice to hear Ventura back on the call after all these years.

3005.01.2025anguslee6.0For detailed evaluations of each match, please refer to their individual pages. Here, I'll focus on the overall impression of the event: With multiple championship matches and relentless promotion, it's clear WWE aimed to present this as a PLE-level show. Unfortunately, the excessive commercials mercilessly destroyed the viewing experience. This became especially frustrating when you realized that every match was shorter than usual. However, if you approach this as a special episode rather than a PLE, it's actually a decent outing. The nostalgia and retro vibes, amplified by the return of some familiar faces, made for a charming throwback atmosphere. All in all, I'd rate this a 6 out of 10. I'm still optimistic about the next Saturday Night's Main Event in San Antonio this January--assuming WWE learns from this experience and fine-tunes the execution of such special episodes.

3304.01.2025TW Coach8.0This show stood out as being wildly different from the weekly shows WWE produces. This felt like a trimmed-down PPV/PLE, rather than the promo-heavy content we see on Raw and SmackDown. Making SNME different in that regard was necessary in order to have the prime time special feel just that: special. Anyone tuning in for this event on NBC, who might not be a regular viewer, saw a well-laid out show, with angles/storylines clearly explained ahead of time, and matches that were easily digestible and not overly booked. I enjoyed all of the matches on the show. Not saying any of them are match of the year worthy, but I was thoroughly entertained throughout. The main event was the best match on the night for me, and having Jesse Ventura on commentary was the icing on the cake. I also thought the crowd reaction to Chelsea Green's win made it feel like a big moment. All together a solid program that may bring in new viewers.

4228.12.2024Frank Shooter6.0Not a bad show, but certainly this was another example of WWE being so conformist with their current product. Triple H must have planned his RTWM by this point so whatever we've watched here was just little pieces of his big plan being developed. Good opener, with Drew McIntyre regaining some dominance after his HIAC loss and building-up a little substory of Sami Zayn not being able to beat him and being far to do so, like the good underdog he is. Not spectacular when it comes to in-ring work, but effective when it comes to storytelling. Women's World Title match was the worst part of the whole show by far. You just can't use the best female wrestler in the world to put over clean a rather mediocre one just to hype-up a match with Rhea Ripley. And it's not only that, Io made the whole match and one of, if not the biggest carryjob of her entire career here. Liv Morgan just had to follow up whatever Io was creating, selling and bumping and do the finish. I'll give Liv her credit when it comes to saving Io's botch, that was great on her behalf. Triple Threat match was also fine, well worked and helped Gunther regain some of his confidence as he beat Priest and Bálor at the same time, but sadly the match never tried to push forward to demand the wrestler show more of what they can actually deliver in the ring. Women's US Title finals felt just cold. They try so hard to sell the moment as big with words but they don't do anything factual to actually deliver their promises. Match was really bland, a good start that just faded away, having Mia Yim, who's far from being a very good wrestler, have control of it because Chelsea Green is the comical character, so she's the underdog. Good finish and right winner, though. The Title needeed Chelsea to have a strong interesting start and she needed the title to have a solid chance of gaining credibility towards being a future World Champion contender. Finally, the main event... Remember what I said at first about Triple H's plan and WWE being conformist with their product? Well, this is the prime example of that. They had a perfect chance of delivering a 5 star match. The workers can go and the story was white hot and great to justify delivering an iconic classic. Not only that, they had a magnificent chance to do an unexpected and shocking title change. Kevin Owens has the credibility to beat Cody Rhodes, even if it's just for a short 2-3 month title reign, he doesn't need more to deliver a great story with it, and we could get out of the spiral of big title changes just taking place at big PPV like WrestleMania or SummerSlam. There was a time where the WWE title changed hands at No Mercy, Unforgiven, even at Heat. Now it just take place at Manias because of "Cinema" and all of those social media forced driven fanservices. I'm not mad at Cody retaining, but this was perfect to give KO a much deserving big win in his career, a shocking moment, and a great instant classic. But that's not half as bad as cutting out the Package Piledriver being applied for the first time in 10 years to just upload it on YouTube. It doesn't hit the same at all.

4527.12.2024RealGrapsThomsen7.0I enjoyed this for the most part. I feel like all of these matches could have been better if the show was given more time. The overall look and aesthetic of the show was pretty good, it blended modern and nostalgic aspects really well. Cody bringing back the Winged Eagle was my favorite part of the show.
4626.12.2024KOAC7.0I suppose I can announce with pleasure that sports entertainment is alive and well in the year 2024, courtesy of the resurgent Saturday Night's Main Event. Overall, an enjoyable card that clearly was built and curated to cater to a wider audience as a result of its simulcasting on national television channels in the United States. A great opener delivered by Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn, a good triple threat for the World Heavyweight Championship, a highly enjoyable title match for the inaugural Women's United States title (and a worthy winner in Chelsea Green), and a nice main event made even better by what apparently happened off the air. The match between Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan was unfortunately a bit of a dud, but there were still things to enjoy despite the lower quality. And that goes for most of the show -- enjoyable despite being a clear "B-show".

5124.12.2024ejr63097.0I thought this was a great show, everyone's expectations were very high for this but I didn't have too many expectations, the only complaints I have is that all the matches were way too short in my opinion but that's really it. The first 3 matches were very enjoyable, the women's US title match was decent but happy with the winner, and the main event was good only too short.
5323.12.2024theacmoney4.0If the goal of this show was to bring back the days of mid wrestling, then congratulations, mission accomplished. I can't imagine WWE gained any new fans from this outing, and it felt like a huge missed opportunity.

5523.12.2024celticinvader6.0Loved the look and feel of this show, and as a big fan of 80s WWF I popped hard seeing Koko and Tito again, seeing the red white and blue ring ropes and the smaller aisle. Especially popped for Ventura on commentary. Match quality was a little lacking, but there was nothing offensively bad, just kinda generic.
5623.12.2024Stallion Peach4.0
5723.12.2024Lukeathon7.0There was nothing exceptional at this event, but for the most part there was also nothing bad at all! Sami Vs Drew was a good start, only complaint is they've done this exact formula for a match between these 2 men multiple times in the past year and Drew has won EVERY single time. Looking forward to the Drew VS Bloodline story. Liv Morgan Vs Iyo was fine but it felt like these 2 could definitely do more. Rhea Ripley vs Liv AGAIN confirmed after the match, didn't like that too much. I swear to god if that rivalry goes on until Mania it would be Mania. Gunther then retained over Finn & Damien. I will admit I was a fan of the decision to add Priest to the match beforehand, 1) Because I thought Gunther would finally pin Priest & 2) Because if he wasn't in the match, the ending would have been so so predictable. Instead Gunther pins Finn Balor while Priest who nearly messed up Gunthers powerbomb stays undefeated clean by Gunther. Crazy. Genuinely crazy decision which I cannot understand, Triple H has failed booking the world title storylines on Raw for Men & Women. They suck despite the actual talent that's around those scenes (apart from Damien Priest he does suck). Next we had Chelsea Green winning the Womens US Title, very good choice here! Well done to Chelsea who deserves this fully and I hope she has a long reign and isnt forgotten about, give her her flowers. FINALLY we get to Cody vs Kevin and it was a very good, also a very good post match attack, and this all being commentated over by an oldschool heel commentator gave it a little boost as well. Fans are starting to turn against Cody in some situations, to me that's mainly because for a guy that wanted to be a fully fighting champion, he never wrestles on the TV Shows, Live Events or PLE's he turns up 100% but he does rarely wrestle on TV, akin to Roman. Looking forward to what we get from Owens going forward, might be him VS Randy Orton at Mania for the winged eagle title while Cody defends against The Rock. A decent event to be honest, I cant knock it too much, Raw continues to be booked 50 times worse than Smackdown in nearly every way but NXT is still miles clear of both shows in my opinion.
5823.12.2024Jaymeeriott7.0(Before anything, I will say I was there for this live, I don't go to live wrestling often, and I had really good seats so my evaluation may be skewed). From the product I saw, I'm shocked to see this score be below a 6/10, but this show may be a real case of not overpromising in case you underdeliver. Given the tight two-hour runtime, every match was about 3-5 minutes shorter than it needed to be to really land (especially the main event which I'll get to), and the fact no titles change hands when 2 switches in particular were probably the more interesting move it taints what were honestly decent title defenses. I will also mention that the presentation was definitely neat, liked the colored ropes and the lighting in particular, and Ventura still has the heel commentary down pat in big 2024. Matches: - MCMG vs A-Town Down Under: 2.5/5 (dark match, not much of anything, but did its job) - Zayn vs McIntyre: 3.25/5 - Definitely a heated, engaging, and fun opener with two top tier talents and I'm happy to see Drew pick up a large win, but the match felt fairly inconsequential, not really pushing much forward, and the fast pace didn't make for a lot of drama. Zayn was out after one Claymore, and one finisher being all that was needed became a trend across the show (which in a world where finishers are better protected would be a great thing, but instead made each match ending feel kinda limp and shined light on the time crunch). - Morgan vs Sky: 2.75/5 - We're still doing Rhea/Liv huh? JFC... Ignoring that for now, match was better than most in Morgan's reign (which is both a compliment and condemnation), as most of that can be attributed to the engaging offense of Iyo Sky. I will give credit to Liv improving nicely on a presumed Iyo botch, but that immediately goes away because her offense looked AWFUL, especially the world's slowest Three Amigos and her unfortunate finisher, which put out Sky clean. Its honestly a travesty Iyo lost to Liv clean as a sheet (even if not seeing Dom was welcome for freshness), but then Motionless In White hit and I popped for .2 seconds before grimacing that Rhea/Liv ISNT FUCKING OVER. If this leads to a Mania match instead of Rhea snatching the belt in January to build to either Rhea/Bianca or Rhea/Iyo at Mania, we're fucked. - Gunther vs Priest vs Balor: 4.25/5 - Gunther is still fantastic and this match was a fairly good step at course correcting some of his weird booking as WHC. I'm hoping this OFFICIALLY killed his feud with Priest and this weird self-doubt character arc (because the most dominant NXT UK and IC champ ever should be booked as a WEAK CHAMP... ffs Paul), even if pretty much all their matches have been great. Like every Gunther WHC match (sans Orton at Berlin), its too short for it to reach his best or for him to make proper MOTY-contender magic, but all three men looked awesome in this match (big props to Priest, who looked amazing in his section of dominance bc Gunther is a master at getting people over in defeat) and this had the best false finishes of the whole night. - Green vs Michin: 3/5 - Maybe a little generous as I don't think I was particularly more engaged watching this match than with Morgan/Sky but that was probably on the crowd giving Mia Yim NOTHING during her offensive maneuvers (this is possibly a factor of her ring gear being HBK Survivor Series 02 levels of dull brown, which apparently was a shoutout to her high school, but when compared to Green's flashy attire, it was a clear giveaway she wasn't winning). Regardless, I did enjoy the match because the finish felt like a big deal, Piper Niven's acting on the outside was a treat (she's super underrated in her role alongside Chelsea), and this was the right winner and a feel-good moment (something that I found to be lacking across the show *ahem* Morgan winning *ahem* Cody winning *ahem*) - Rhodes vs KO: 2.5/5 - This match's finish fell so flat I left before the big post-match angle and that probably could've saved this by a half star... but at the same time WTF was this? First off, this match was struggling for time, needing at least another five for anyone to buy a KO victory, which sucked bc he deserved it and god forbid a main event heel not named Roman Reigns in WWE gets a major win. But I'll address my elephant in the room: Cody stunk in this match. The selling of the ankle which was played up both in the video package and beginning of this match was non-existent and his offense felt really predictable and unengaging (the fact KO of all characters still waited 10 seconds for Cody to do a springboard and hit the Cody Cutter was asinine). Worst of all, the finish. I do like the juxtaposition of KO actually going full on with the cheating and that it eventually cost him when he probably could've won clean, but 1: there's TWO goddamn ref bumps, and the fact the same story was told twice with the visual pin and chair made both the match and KO's character seem stupid, but also 2: Cody winning with only one Cross Rhodes while also using the chair and the ref magically popping up to count while OUTSIDE the ring was some dumb shit. I get that he said in the go-home show that he isn't afraid to "go there" like other babyfaces, but he can't have that be his character while also being the crying, injured, resilient good guy champion. To touch on the fallout breifly, I both like and DESPISE that KO still holds the title, bc Kevin Owens being delusional (even as a heel) is pretty much character assassination and I'd rather he just win the fucking belt and build to a pipedream KO/Zayn World Title match. 4 ...damn maybe I didn't like this show LOL

6122.12.2024Maui6.0Okay, knowing this was a TV show and frankly just a pit stop, no surprises were ever going to happen here. Every title holder defended successfully. The matches were also too short to make a lasting impression on me. The main event was definetel the best out of the bunch, because of its overbooking and the good commentary. I liked the feeling of the show and the bowing towards its historic past, with even the Eagle Version of the World Title making a short-term return. One match I skipped, because women's wrestling sucks and so does the unnecessary Women's United States Title Tournament. Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY was surprisingly weak with a bad referee.

7420.12.2024hassan017.0B+ show (high 7) imo. The triple threat was MOTN definitely but I also loved Drew/Sami. It was however the women's matches that disappointed me as none really were above par. It was very heartwarming.

8219.12.2024nickpatt4.0This show was made out to be so much more than it was. I cannot speak for everyone, but I felt as though this was being built up to be akin to a PLE. Instead it felt like a weak episode of Smackdown with a world title match. I liked the nostalgia and the presentation, but the advertisements were ridiculous. JV still has it, and he helped make this event not feel like a complete disappointment. Maybe I'm being too harsh.
8319.12.2024WallstMoney6.0I appreciate the nostalgia and the retro vibes for this show and that fact that they brought back the winged eagle belt was really cool to they should have also brought back the Big Gold Belt to. This PLE did not feel like a PLE it felt more like a special RAW or SMACKDOWN event. The presentation was there but the wrestling was not only one good match on the show and no matches went more than 15 mins. There were too many ads it was just ridiculous. Overall the show was fun but it wasnt a PLE it was more of a special episode of RAW.
