[8.0] "It was a very good event. The best match was the main event and it was really very good. The match for the Strong tag titles was also very good. All the wrestler from UK scene who made appearance had good performance.Really nice to see again Leube and Nakashima and especially with titles.Overall Royal Quest IV was enjoyable."

[8.0] "Really enjoyed this. Not a big fan of the venue. Atmosphere coulda been better. Opening match was good, enjoyed CPF. AZM, Dani Luna and Mina Shirakawa all really good. Callum Newman can fly. Great to see TAKA in person! David Finlay is excellent. Tag Team title match was my favourite. Even though I'm British, I find Zack Sabre Jr and as a result I felt the main event let down the rest of what was an excellent card!"

[5.0] "Pretty much every match on the card save for the main event and semi-main felt like a random tour show with British guys thrown in. However, both the semi-main and main were very good. My biggest complaint, however, is the production quality being very bad and hurting the show for me. The sound mixing was atrocious as mics were constantly peaking and different audio feeds were either too quiet or too loud with no in between. [MOTN: SANADA vs. Zack Sabre Jr.]"

[6.0] "Long shows with some completely useless matches but still quite entertaining because of the random unique matches. Last two matches were also great and they were definetely worth it, perhaps a bigger challenger would have suited better ZSJ's first title defense in UK. ***1/4"

[8.0] "I'm lucky to have been in attendance live for this one, so the complaints about production or anything of that nature will not be applied here. Overall, this was a really fun show! I really enjoyed the top 2 matches in particular, as well as Oku vs Fujita + the tag matches of AZM + Dani vs Kanji + Mina and the fun shenanigans of LIJ vs TMDK + Mascara Dorada! Those are all absolutely worth a watch. I was also more entertained by the 1980s style goon heel angle with Finlay and Gedo, so that gets a thumbs up from me. Nice and breezy show with no matches that were bad, and all mostly decent towards great! Nothing MOTY level or anything, but very much a show worth watching !"

[4.0] "It's hard to even judge the matches on this show because, between the poor production quality and an audience who turn every match into a blur of disconnected pantomime segments, it's almost impossible to be drawn in. British crowds can be novel at times but at their very worst they're the most Reddit-tier crowds in the world. This crowd was so insistent on meming and singing (at one point singing to Sanada, "Won't you fuck off home? ") that nothing was allowed to breathe or resonate. It made the matches feel like slogs without structure. All of the big cheers came from the completion of routine spots as though they were memes and references which the fans were quite pleased to understand. The fans were there specifically to watch a performance rather than allow themselves to be captivated by one, barely reacting to big moves and significant moments of the story being told The matches were mostly in that 'okay' range, but there was a distinct lack of energy in the ring all night. I think other commentators are right to question the future of such shows, and I'll add that when Royal Quest 2 drew more people than this for two nights running, it also did so during train strikes. I feel like this is a 5/10 show but I watched this over two sittings and still found myself making excuses to get up and do anything else."

[6.0] "New Japan shows, and having a mediocre undercard being bailed out by their main events, name a more iconic duo. Whilst the talent may have seen the RevPro show the night before as a dress rehearsal, the reality is that it was the stronger of the two nights. Honestly, Forbidden Door coming to London next August should mean that maybe the Royal Quest name can get a rest for a year, because even though Tony was in town for the Jags match, he probably wasn't in a rush to get the car down to Crystal Palace to start the prep-work for Wrestle Dynasty."

[7.0] "I feel like the tone of a lot of the lower ratings are based around production/ sound etc which as someone who was there live these issues didn't effect me. We got a couple of title matches that were decent - nothing great, and a card of filler that was fine - NJPW standard abroad show really."

[6.0] "This was an decent card with the three last matches being the better of the show, the other matches were okay-average. Oskar Leube & Yuto Nakashima vs Brendan White & Danny Jones: An okay pre-show match, with Leube and Nakashima showing they have improved since going on excursion, the match was average to okay at best, did what it needed to do [**]. Robbie X & Taiji Ishimori vs Danny Black & Joe Lando: Robbie X being the surprise partner for Ishimori and the newest member of BULLET CLUB was surprising to see, X and Ishimori did okay, but their opponents were not that good, resulting in a average match [**]. AZM & Dani Luna vs Kanji & Mina Shirakawa: A well worked women's tag team match that had some good exchanges, it did look a bit rough for a moment or so, but for the most part was good to watch, Luna picking up the win against the RevPro women's champ Mina Shirakawa was surprising and interesting to watch [**1/4]. Kosei Fujita vs Michael Oku: Oku coming off a long reign as the heavyweight champion in RevPro so needed to gain momentum, Fujita being the less experienced wrestler in this one had a solid performance, the match did flow well, the match should have had more time instead of going just under 10 minutes, Fujita getting the win was surprising [***]. Yota Tsuji vs Drilla Moloney: Maybe did not need to go as long as it did, could have had 5 minutes cut off the match, Moloney was okay and Tsuji winning was the right call [**1/2]. Shota Umino vs Callum Newman: This was a rubber match between these two, this was longer than their G1 Climax 34 match earlier in the summer, but was not as good, the match went way too long and did seem uninteresting and boring at times, they did not click like they did during their previous matches [**]. David Finlay vs TAKA Michinoku: Michinoku had to take on Gedo first which I am not counting as a extra match as it was absurd, Finlay and Michinoku had a short timed match that was absurd as well [DUD]. Hiromu Takahashi, Tetsuya Naito & Titan vs Mascara Dorada, Robbie Eagles & Ryohei Oiwa: A fun trios match, Dorada and Titan should have had more time in the ring, the crowd was into this one with them getting behind both teams [***1/4]. Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste vs Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tomohiro Ishii: Ishii and Tanahashi had a solid time as a duo, against the champions Nicholls & Haste, while the challengers may have not had the experience as the champions, they turned this into a STRONG (no pun intended) title match [***1/2]. Zack Sabre Jr vs SANADA: Technical showcasing from both the wrestlers involved, the crowd booed and chanted to SANADA, ZSJ had a hero's welcome, the 25 minutes went by smoothly, flowed quite well, well worked and a great first title defense for ZSJ especially on his home turf [****1/2]"

[6.0] "This was a good card overall, nothing to write home about but nothing actively bad on the show (aside from some technical issues). I really enjoyed the semi main and main event, but other than that it was largely competent if unimpressive wrestling. A fun enough way to spend a few hours with no bad wrestling on the card gets this a 6/10."

[5.0] "NJPW continues to show decreasing effort being put into their Royal Quest shows with each passing year. This reeked of a nothing house show, from the card, to the effort of the wrestlers, to the lack of enthusiasm from the fans (at least as it came across over the broadcast). The future of this show is in jeopardy to me as fans will begin to realise they don't prioritise the show's quality. 5.5/10"

Nothing blow away, nothing terrible, crowd was very loud all show (not sure how well that came across on stream, from other comments I guess it didn't), last three matches were really fun, fun show overall."

[5.0] "It is great that New Japan finally make sure they deliver authentic shows in the UK as this was all very competent but dull wrestling where the only Japanese lads who are over are all completely and utterly broken. I often see really positive comments about the current product from the last hold outs of the dwindling western fan base and I have to remind myself that they aren't really lying per se, they are just doing everything possible to convince themselves that all the time , effort and money they invest in the promotion is not a complete waste of time. This show also had the added bonus of a crowd that really wound people up and the best match Finlay has ever had so it was not a complete wash. It was a chore."

[3.0] "Very boring and uneventful show. The only reason to watch this show is if you had the opportunity to watch it in person to see the NJPW stars in the UK. No match is good enough that it's worth seeking out, but there's also no match that is insultingly terrible either. However, when you sit through so many mediocre matches in a row, it starts to leave a sour taste in your mouth. This show could've been saved into being an okay show had it had 1 show stealer... Unfortunately, some of the matches I looked forward to the most really underperformed my expectations. It sucks but I came out of my viewing wishing I hadn't watched this show and spent my time on something I'll remember."

[7.0] "From a live perspective this was a rather enjoyable show. Whilst no match was excellent, most were perfectly decent to good (apart from the Gedo one). The crowd were really enthusiastic and loud for the vast majority of the bouts, so I would assume this just wasn't captured by the live feed. The vitriol reserved for Sanada I did feel was particularly undeserving and hurt the match somewhat, he's relatively dull though was met with a reaction like he'd thrown a firebomb into an orphanage. Regardless, show was perfectly decent and I had my fun and that's all that matters."
