[7.0] "5 Jahre Dynamite ist auch eine Hausnummer. Muss man ja einfach mal sagen.

All the matches featured were above average, with the opener and main event being the better ones and expect from the LT stuff (which wasn't even that bad this time), all the other segments were solid."

[7.0] "This show had quite a few ups and downs but it was mostly good. Moxley's promo at the very start of the show was phenomenal. Ricochet vs. Ospreay kicked off the show for the wrestling side of things and they put on a great match. Fast-paced and entertaining with excellent "flippy shit". Only downside was the ending which I thought was just dumb. Having the match end in a draw, restart only for it to end in a no contest seconds later is stupid. And although I like that Takeshita is getting more and more opportunities, wasn't he on a feud with Okada? Jericho/Briscoe angle was overall fine. Jericho stinks but Briscoe's great. Just a bit too long but fine in the end. I ain't looking foward to this match at all. Page vs. Juice was good although I didn't think Hangman neeeded a low blow to win against a midcarder. Jay White coming back in the post-match was great. Hangman and Jay could put on one of the rawest feuds in the company's history. Great Darby promo, can't wait to see who answers his open challenge. DMD vs. Deeb was decent. However does not deserve to be in the title picture at all. Speaking of that, great little backstage interaction between Willow and Mariah. Shelton Benjamin's debut was a cool moment, great pop from the crowd. Only Lashley is missing now for the Hurt Business to be back. PP's squash was alright. I'm happy to see them back in the title picture. They have great chemistry and lots of history with the Bucks. Okada vs. Danielson was the best match of the night. It was long but it never dragged for me and it was filled with great stuff. The ending could've been a little better though. I liked Yuta finally showing some character at the end, I'm loving his character direction. I also liked how this is not about him but about something bigger with commentators saying somebody might be focing his hand. Overall: opener and main event were really good, especially the main event. There was a debut and a great return but also some booking issues, especially regarding the finishes of the matches. Also I wasn't a fan of all those mini packages of the best moments of the five years of AEW. Not a huge fan of how WrestleDream's shaping up with matches like Perry vs. Shibata and Jericho vs. Briscoe that I'm not interested in seeing at all."

The fact that these matches are happening in 2024 on a globally broadcast pro wrestling TV show that isnt the WWE would have been an idea of pure fantasy 6 or 7 years ago. Its times like these that pro wrestling fans should reflect on how lucky they are that the industry they love is in a better state now than it was before AEW came along."

[7.0] "5 years of Dynamite, some incredible highs, and some major lows. Overall, what a special 5 years it has been. The 5 Year anniversary show begins with, in my opinion, the best BCC promo ever - incredible work from all 4 performers. Ospreay and Ricochet delivered a great opening match, which felt like they were leaving room for future matches to build on. Takeshita now being inserted into a major storyline / feud is great. The triple threat at Wrestle Dream could end up being the best three-way match of all time. Good promo exchange between Jericho and Briscoe - builds a nice story for their match at the PPV. Great Darby promo - future world champion. Fun match between Hangman and Juice. Give me Hangman vs Jay White! Really good women's match - Deeb is really underrated. Big pop for Shelton - cool to see. Not a big fan of what there doing in the tag division but hopefully it leads somewhere. Main event while a good match felt like a let down the first 20 mins were slow but the last 10 were good. Overall, this was a good show that felt a bit hot or miss with more hits than misses (7/10)"

There were Highlightclips of moments throughout the show but they felt more like a goodie. Darby Allin had no match, the only womens match on the show did not feature Riho oder Nyla Rosa or someone other than Britt Baker from the early days of AEW. The two highlights of the show with the opening and the main event match had some asteriks to it with lackluster endings. A slightly disappointing yet still good show."

[9.0] "The Pittsburgh crowd was electric! The show kicked off with a banger, as the best wrestler in the world Will Ospreay and Ricochet tore it up! However, would have liked a clean finish, but hopefully Ospreay will be able to get a clean finish at Wrestle Dream. Adam Page and Juice Robinson was also a fun match. Robinson's character works much better as a face. He's hilarious, and Page is just purely psychotic. Then after the match Jay White is back! Glad to see Britt wrestle on this trip at her alma mater, since we missed her last time AEW was in town. Private Party squashed the Iron Savages, which is unfortunate. If this match was on a typical Rampage or ROH show it would've gone longer, and the sauce sippin' hosses would have gotten in some offense. Danielson and Okada main event started slow, but picked up at the end. Okada flipping off Claudio and Pac was tremendous! Also, Shelton Benjamin debuted during a back stage promo."

[7.0] "A bit weak after almost a stellar Grand Slam show but it did set up bunch of things. Ricochet and Ospreay were going really good and I'd be very willing to accept the double pinfall however restarting the match only to have Takeshita screm them over? Not my taste. I am glad Takeshita is back at the title picture and hopefully will be the one to redeem it but the way they did it is so bleh. I liked the stipulation to Okada vs. Danielson but they really didn't play it cleverly. Lots of stalling from Okada and they try to feed it to us, I get it. After first 20 minutes under Continental Classic rules, I thought it would eventually kick into the next gear but it really didn't as Okada's first pinfall loss came from a rollup. That's not quite a definitive ending to a trio. Nowhere near the NJPW bout and close to the Forbidden Door one but is still the weak link of the three. Robinson vs. Page was ok and good to see Jay White back. Britt and Deeb was overwhelming, Deeb of course had to be Deeb and did most of the mat work. Private Party promo was alright and I hope this is the time they get their fire back. Blackpool Combat Club stuff is even better now as Yuta attacked Claudio & PAC despite they intentionally held themselves against him. MVP promo was solid and Benjamin (who got a heartwarming pop) looked like business. It was roughly an anniversary show besides the clips. No fireworks, no pyros, nothing at all."

[6.0] "Fairly middling Dynamite. Some good stuff here definitely though. The MVP segments were great; loved the Shelton debut too. Obviously the Moxley faction stuff continues to be brilliant and the show closing angle with Danielson added even further hype to their match at Wrestledream. Honestly that could end up being one of the best matches of the year. The wrestling on this show wasn't great. Hangman v Juive and the main event were good, although the latter was pretty underwhelming, but the other matches just simply weren't good. Ospreay v Ricochet was absolutely awful and basically epitomises everything that I hate about Ospreay matches. Then the Britt v Deeb match was just very boring. This show was still pretty decent overall though and helped build up several matches for Wrestledream. MOTN - Bryan Danielson v Kazuchika Okada"

[8.0] "[8] I thought it was a good episode, but can understand people's complaints as far as it not feeling all that special for an anniversary show. It felt like an ordinary episode of Dynamite for the most part. I don't personally have a problem with the "shenanigans" and finishes to a lot of the matches, as I fully expected that two weeks away from a major PPV that this would all be about moving stories forward and pushing angles. That said, the double count and fake finish in the opening match between Ricochet and Ospreay was just silly. It didn't even look convincing, as you could literally see Ospreay rearranging himself on top of Ricochet, rather than both collapsing and landing in a natural manner. Other than that, the match up until then was great and I didn't mind the Takeshita interference. I hope it leads to a decent push for Takeshita. The segments involving the Learning Tree (although I laughed when Jericho mocked 'experts') and Mercedes backstage stuff didn't really land. In addition, Britt and Serena's match was dull (and wow, the crowd didn't care one bit at the beginning. You could hear a pin drop the crowd was so dead for the first few minutes). Fortunately, there was plenty on this episode that kept things interesting and entertaining. Everything involving the BCC, Moxley, Yuta and Bryan has me really intrigued. I love how they are alluding to an impending war and so on. It was also great to see Jay White return. Hangman continues to be one of the best characters on the show since his transition as a result of his feud with Swerve. I am also enjoying MVP and looking forward to seeing what Shelton Benjamin and no doubt Bobby Lashley bring to the company. Finally Okada vs Danielson was great and I have no issue with the finish personally. Overall, a solid 8/10."

[4.0] "[4.0] Needlessly long show. It was nearly 2 and a half hour long episode. That's just too much. And it wasn't anything special. Moxley and his group are still talking in secretive manner. They're throwing around big words like war and democracy. At some point they have to say more than that because it's been going on since late August... Ospreay and Ricochet was another indie flip spotfest... Mercedes cut another horrible promo and crowd didn't care at all about her... Same thing with Jericho. This stupid gimmick takes so much of time and there's no end in sight... Adam Page vs Juice was nice. I will always pop for my boy Jay White. Hope he goes after world title scene but it's a little preoccupied right now... Darby cut a good promo. Britt had a good match with Deeb. But women deserve much better than whatever they're getting. No proper focus. I mean what the hell was Mariah doing ringside? She is women's World champion ffs. Treat her better... Private Party cut a passionate promo but crowd didn't respond well because they've been stuck in one spot ever since their first year in AEW... Briscoe's promo was legitimately very good... Main thing that people were expecting were good surprises amd returns. Only Jay White returned. They should have had Kenny in a non wrestling role for this episode and MJF as well. This show lacked big stars and needed those draws. Over all very underwhelming episode of Dynamite and a major downgrade from last week."

Between this being the 5th anniversary and the new TV deal just being announced, this particular episode felt like it should have been bigger than it was. Still a good episode overall, bookended by two good matches that could have been significantly better (I gave both *** 1/2). Some build for WrestleDream, although that show had so much more buzz going into it last year."

Basically the opposite of Pac and Ospreay at All In which was a clinic in how to do this kind of match and not embarrass yourselves and the people watching. Sloppy, not a lick of selling, truly just two guys doing random moves to one another. 10 years ago, impressive. In 2024? This kind of match is on every show. It's some real who gives a shit kinda wrestling we got going on here. With no real build wither. Horrible finish to boot. Okada continues to underwhelm in AEW. Overlong mediocre match with Danielson that I doubt anyone but the sickest sickos wanted to see. Predictable long length and finish. Just a filler match to main event your anniversary show. Yeesh. Page and Juice was fine. Would be nice to see someone like Juice, better in every way than page, get a years-long push like Hangman has. return of Jay White is nice -- maybe he's used like something more than a space-filler this time around. One of the biggest takeaways for me is that the crowd just doesn't care about so much of the stuff TK is booking. Don't no one care about the Bucks, Moxley, Jack Perry, Private party, etc. Meanwhile where are, say, the Outrunners? Dynamite is the one show people watch. Put them on it while they're white hot."

They at least set up some matches for the WrestleDream show (although in some ways they reeked of late 2010s WWE, ) a PPV which had 1 match announced prior to this show. If this were just a standard edition of Dynamite, some of these choices made would have been weak enough but on an anniversary show with plenty of clips to remind of overall stronger times in the company, it made the show feel worse."

I thought the selection of Dynamite moments of the last five years was a bit subpar and overall it didn't feel that big of a deal, but I liked the matches and the continuation of storylines. Some of the promos were fantastic, like Mox's cult-like promo in the beginning and Darby's excellent self-reflection while throwing out the open challenge for WrestleDream. Speaking of the PPV, it is shaping up nicely and I am glad it is again on a Saturday. I also really enjoyed Nigel on commentary, it was a different dynamic for Dynamite. His best moment was mentioning the hypocracy by Tony and Excalibur who often fall into the babyface announcer trap of forgetting the bad deads of babyface wrestlers in the past and vice versa."

This one badly suffered from WWE tropes and poor follow through on stuff like Takeshita vs Okada which had been teased for a long time. Also why were Callis etc leaving to catch a plane 2 minutes into the show? Why even fly out to the show? Highlight is moving on the Yuta stuff. He is one of the best workers on the planet and deserves a championship in AEW. I think they are saving him and Okada for an eventual showdown in the Continental Classic tournament. All of a sudden Private Party have some momentum behind them and maybe they can go on a nice little run. I do not want to watch Britt Baker anymore I think a lot of her legacy is carried by that hardcore match against Rosa, she is very slow in the ring and gets carried by better workers the majority of the time. All the matches on the card felt predictable with the exception of the tag team match. Okada vs Danielson felt like it was stretching out time too much to really squeeze out the value of having a overrun, it was disappointing for being supposedly a part of one of the greatest slow-burn feuds around. There was a awkward Mercedes Mone promo that was suppose to showcase her time in AEW but it was too short, and there was a random Brodie Lee videopackage."

But for the 5th Anniversary match that opened with Ospreay vs Ricochet and ended with Danielson vs Okada, this felt like a whiff. Again, it was FINE. But we had every right to expect much more than FINE on this night. There wasn't a single moment that felt pure to what AEW was supposed to be when TK founded the company. This show was more about the "moments" in pure WWE fashion than elite in-ring action with straight, logical, progressive storytelling."

I'm happy for the TV deal, I went in locked in for a celebratory night and it felt like a party that I wasn't fully tuned into mentally or something. Not like a terrible show or anything, but all three major matches I focused in on had very weird finishes. First, Ospreay/Ricochet had a double pin, then a restart, then a DQ. Then there was a non-clean finish in Hangman/Juice after a satisfactory match. And then there was a flash pin at the end of Okada/Danielson, hinting at another match, but I don't know if we get match #4 with a clean finish at all so it seems flat. And also, Jericho (who I have mostly tuned out of in 2024) really made me sick with the Jay Briscoe mention. Hopefully he gets his comeuppance, but I don't have a lot of optimism sadly."

I enjoy AEW's hard-hitting style and high level of competition typically showcased during its PPVs. I would expect to have loved this Dynamite on paper, with Ricochet/Ospreay, Hangman/Juice, and Danielson/Okada. And while all three matches were, mostly, exactly what I wanted, the finishes and booking for each of them were distasteful to an astonishing degree. It's AEW's 5th anniversary and I've watched all five years, and now more than ever I simply do not enjoy what AEW television is delivering. Ospreay and Ricochet ended with a nonfinish DQ after Takeshita's interference following a nonfinish "tie" that led to the match restarting. If that sounds incredibly stupid and frustrating, it was. These two deserved a finish. The audience deserved a finish. Why should we believe any future matches involving these three will have proper finishes? Hangman Adam Page was only able to get a victory over midcarder Juice Robinson by distracting the referee and kicking Juice in the balls, much like he resorted to kicking Jeff Jarret in the balls to win last week. If making Hangman looked pathetic, making his victory embarrassing was AEW's goal then great job. It was terrible and unnecessary and Hangman is capable and deserving of so much more than this shit booking. Again, these two deserved a finish. The audience deserved a finish. Okada and Danielson had a solid extended match. It was TV quality with both men overly safe and no big spots, but it was physical and competitive. It ended with a fucking rollup while Okada was distracted by... Claudio standing in the audience. AGAIN, these two men deserved a finish. The audience deserved a finish. That a major show and three major matches couldn't deliver a single decent finish... it's just so fucking stupid and such a waste of my time. Imagine if Ospreay beat Ricochet but only barely, if Hangman beat juice but only barely, and Danielson beat Okada but only barely. If all three matches ended well. Imagine how much better that TV episode would be, how much excitement it would build for those wrestlers' future matches, and how much more attractive AEW would be for both its live and broadcast audiences. That's the AEW fans deserve. Not this stupid, embarrassing bullshit."

While PPVs are still really good, boy howdy are the television shows filled with 2018/2019 WWE tropes and lazy booking. The ending to Ricochet/Ospreay was crap. It seems like they dropped the Takeshita/Okada story for some reason. Speaking of Okada, his full real pinfall loss was to Danielson on a rush-job put together match? Really? Also, I feel I may be the only one, but I thought Okada/Danielson was a liiiiiitle bit boring. Slow for the sake of stretching the match length, it felt. Hangman Page/Juice Robinson was just there. Adam Page is rapidly losing heat. The Dentist is still not very good. Also, 1 win DMD, Willow coming off losses, and Queen Aminata (who is coming off a loss) are now in the Women's Championship orbit? Stupid. Shibata just happening to be in the right place for Jack Perry arriving is 2019 WWE bullcrap. Marq Quen is not very good, sorry. Shelton Benjamin in 2024 is certainly a choice, and of course Jericho had to take 15 minutes to stink things up. Outside of the few bumpers recalling past Dynamite moments, this did not really feel like a big celebration. This show was definitely a let down. Thumbs down."

Jericho's segment was insufferable as usual, and Mark Briscoe didn't do much to help salvage it. We get a great pretape promo from Darby Allin, and a squash match for private party, whio end up getting challenged by the young bucks in the afterbirth.
