[5.0] "Perfectly average but enjoyable Nitro. WAY better than the standard Monday Night Raw at the time. Hogan/Gang sucked though."

[5.0] "You mean to tell me that Randy Savage beat Ric Flair for the world title and marked the very first time the world title changed hands on Nitro, and Sting and Luger won the tag team titles, and they let Hulk Hogan be in the main event? I mean, should anyone genuinely be surprised at this?"

[7.0] "The main problem with this show is exactly the same as last week where a Hogan squash match main events the show over two title matches and his overinflated ego is really insufferable to watch at the moment. However this still had some solid wrestling and was a notable episode of Nitro because Savage won the World Title in the opening match of the show making it the first World Title change on an episode of Nitro and the match with Flair is a good one as well. Hogan takes all the glory for it as usual and wants a shot at the title because Savage being the champion doesn't work for him, brother! He noticeably gets booed during this as well with Savage yet again having the spotlight taken away from him on a World Title win. He later makes the Four Horseman look like jabronis in the last segment ot the show where hes taking them out along with Dungeon of Doom with ease. There was another major title change here where Sting and Luger win the tag team titles against Harlem Heat and the storyline with that was actually really good. Also Pillman's Loose Cannon character work was a lot of fun."

[5.0] "Hogan main events over a World title match and a Tag title match which is a very Hogan thing to do. He also pins the current US champion at the time so thats another Hogan thing to do. Other than the stinky Hogan match, its an all around average early 1996 Nitro."

[6.0] "Why is Hogan the main event again when you got the world title match and the tag titles on the line tonight? The match quality was good and I love that Konnan just appears in the opening comments to hype up his match at clash. Pillman showing his loose cannon phase in his wrestling is definitely something to watch. Still hating that Dungeon of Doom."

[3.0] "Nitro's standard formula of only 1 good match per show and some hit-and-miss promos/angles continues to be a recipe for mostly failure. Konnan's promo was short but he showed good confidence. Savage vs Flair was very low-effort for a WCW World Title match. Savage gave yet another performance devoid of anything interesting, instead just going through the motions the whole time. Flair gave good effort with everything he did, even if he drifted into melodramatic territory a few times with his selling and bumping. And then of course there had to be interference to cause a very screwed finish, but at least the crowd's massive excitement softened the blow a bit. **1/4. Hogan again showed how bad of a babyface he was by trying to steal Savage's thunder by parading around like an idiot in the post-match, rightfully causing Savage to cut a good, relatively serious and intense promo calling him out. If either guy could actually work then I'd be really interested in seeing Savage get his hands on Hogan, but oh well. Malenko vs Pillman was obviously unfairly short but still quite fun. There was good unhinged character work from Pillman, making up for Malenko's distinct lack of personality. Malenko's offence of course looked very good all around, as did Pillman's. Pillman's heel-selling was very energetic, making Malenko's attacks look even more impressive. They produced quite a few cool exchanges and spots with their strong chemistry, maintaining a good 'real fight' feel. A shame about the stupid finish, since the ref could clearly see Malenko's leg was tied up in the ropes to make any pinfall invalid, and the set-up getting to that spot was clumsy too. Still a fun match. ***. Harlem Heat vs Luger & Sting was pretty generic and not always too interesting, but still fine. Booker and Sting showed decent energy and some fine athleticism at points. Harlem Heat's control segment on Sting definitely lasted too long, but at least it made them look like a genuine threat and not something the babyfaces could easily brush off. Luger sneakily using the handful of coins from Hart to take out Booker and get the win before proceeding to happily celebrate with a surprised Sting was enjoyable for how dastardly it made Luger look, deceiving his upstanding best friend and partner Sting into thinking they had won fairly. The Sting and Luger storyline remains the most interesting drama on Nitro. **1/4. Hogan vs One Man Gang was the usual BS Hogan formula, making for another totally worthless match. Gang was dreadfully goofy to an insane level, somehow making Hogan look like Misawa by comparison. Hogan was still bad though, of course. Too short to rate. NR. Hogan and Savage fighting off the Horseman and the Dungeon was very boring -- the same thing we've seen many times before. Hogan and Savage also seemingly abandoning their interesting earlier tension in favour of banding together for a joint promo to hype up the Clash of the Champions show was disappointing."

[8.0] "My favourite episode of Nitro so far. The debut of Konnan was exciting, and it was nice to see Woman, despite her appearance being regrettable for understandable reasons. Savage and Flair put on an exciting, if somewhat frantic match, Malenko got the best match he could out of Brian Pillman who was not on his best form, and Sting and Luger's controversial title win made for great viewing from a story perspective. Hogan and One Man Gang had a match that was as terrible as you'd expect but it was mercifully short enough to not ruin the good time had at Cesar's Palace, a locale which gave the episode almost a PPV feel."

[6.0] "An alright Nitro, my favorite bit was the Luger and Sting tag match, both for being a very solid encounter and for Luger winning the titles for Sting through shady dealings but Sting not realizing it, some fun character stuff going on there."

[7.0] "Important episode where Randy Savage defeats Ric Flair and gets the WCW World Title for the second time. Lex Luger and Sting beat the Harlem Heat and become new tag team champions, maybe unexpected with a cheap finish. The quality of the event isn't great, but it's exciting to see some changes at Nitro. Also there is ad interesting story between Macho Man and Hulk Hogan."
