[2.0] "Considering how great the previous episode was this was an extremely poor follow up which is a very common theme with AEW for a while. If people ask you why AEW can't get any consistent momentum going then you should point them to this show and they'll easily see why. Matches aren't anything to write home about especially the 1 hour self indulgent shitshow that kills the rest of the episode. Ending the previous episode with a hot angle then putting the promo of Mariah right before the main event in the usual death spot for women is a Tony Khan Classic TM."
[3.0] "I've laid out my thoughts regarding my dislike of MJF vs Ospreay in my comment, and that match severely dragged down this show. Even without it, the other matches were both just adequate and nothing more. For me the matches are always the primary source for these ratings, and I don't even necessarily remember anything redeeming from the other segments on this show. But when over half a show is dedicated to a match I did not particularly care for, that will lead to the show receiving a negative rating, unfortunately."
[5.0] "The Opreay VS MJF battle was not as exciting as I was expecting, and after that, it was a bit hard to follow the rest of the show, also noting that the next battle were pretty average, and the only high point of the show once again was at the end of it. A little bit dissapointed about this show. [**1/4]"
"[7.0] The first match is one of the best matches in Dynamite history. It was simply phenomenal. I'm giving this whole show seven points just because of that match alone. The match kinda drained me and I couldn't focus on the rest of the show. But MJF vs. Will Ospreay was awesome."
[7.0] "Maybe not as good as some other recent episodes, but still a really good show. Ospreay vs MJF was fantastic and although Swerve vs Okada wasn't anything special, the brawl helped build up Blood & Guts. The segments in the middle were mostly decent too."
[7.0] "Another good episode in the run up to their biggest show of the year at Wembley and the conclusion of a new TV deal. Last year's All In felt a bit thrown together in places so it's been nice to see more focus on building it this year. They should treating it as their big PPV now the initial spectacle has taken place. As for the action: Ospreay vs MJF was great, even if it wasn't the greatest hour long match in AEW history. Loved seeing heel MJF back and that spot in the crowd with the young girl was superb. I'm not too fussed about The Learning Tree either way. Mercedes vs Nyla was an OK TV match. Mariah May's promo was a decent start on the road to All In after the turn. I just hope they didn't peak too early because the turn was incredible and I'm really excited for the match. One of the most annoying things about the show was probably the fans chanting "what? " during May's promo. Please stop doing that. Swerve vs Okada was a taster and prelude to Blood & Guts so I never expected a winner, certainly not a clean one anyway. It served its purpose and I'm sure they'll have a proper one vs one match down the road. Loved the Okada signs in the crowd though. And Mark Briscoe is amazing. Also, the Hangman and Swerve tease was a nice touch too. Darby in B&G will be crazy. Enough rambling now. Overall, it was a good show but not an all time classic Dynamite"
[6.0] "Opening match was self-indulgent and they are running the risk of over-exposing Ospreay as his matches start to feel more formulaic. Jericho stuff continues to feel like a total whiff and adding Suzuki to the mix doesn't help as AEW hasn't booked him as any type of genuine threat in the W-L category. Shocking lack of heat for the big Mariah May follow up angle, to see such a praised angle followed up with "What? " chants a week later was disappointing. I blame the Arkansas crowd for that. Okada seems a full step or two slower already in AEW and he dragged down the main event. The star power for the AEW side of "Blood & Guts" is lacking."
[5.0] "I have enjoyed the last couple Dynamited in the fallout of Forbidden Door but this show was a step backwards for me. It did not help that the show was 50% taken up by a match that (while I was not as negative on as others) that I did not really enjoy. I enjoy 60 minute matches when done effectively (AEW has had 3 in the form of Page/Bryan, MJF/Bryan Ironman, and BCG/FTR 2/3 falls) but the opener felt like a bit of overkill with a sour ending that I did not enjoy either. I appreciated the effort of both but it felt a bit overdone. Mercedes/Nyla was every Mercedes match since joining AEW largely. I like Nyla, but she hasnt won a main AEW TV match since 2022 that was not on YouTube or behind a TKROH paywall. The main event match was not much to set up what is by far the coldest a Blood and Guts has felt with the only redeeming factor for me being Swerve/Page reigniting their rivalry. The Mariah May segment was the highlight of the show for me."
[9.0] "Absolute top tier Dynamite. All timer from Ospreay and MJF. They put their all into it and it has me locked in to see how things play out for the All In card. Great segments. Other 2 matches were great too. Top quality show with an awesome ending with Darby's return, from the rafters no less."
[6.0] "Not my favorite Dynamite. Opening match while very good is going to be scrutinized on both sides to death even though it's just a good match with many flaws. Aside from the opener the rest of this episode seemed like filler or rushed. I like seeing all this star power but it's no good without having them do things that are substantial. Also can I get Okada's job? The man has had five matches to this point 4 months in and I think aside from the Pac match at Dynasty he's been running on 30% this whole time. I was never a big fan but I know he's better than this. C'mon give him some time against guys like Swerve or Darby and lets see the Rainmaker that we know still exists."
[8.0] "This is going to be a very polarizing show mainly due to its opening bout. Personally I loved that match and I thought the rest of the show was quite good. MJF vs. Ospreay is easily one of the best matches in Dynamite's history. Perfect match to represent AEW and show what the compan's all about on a 250 episode show special. MJF winning was a extremely surprisingly, didn't saw it coming at all. Can't wait to see what's next for these two, especially considering All In is next month. I honestly didn't care about the TV Time with Jericho because I was still burnt out by the opener. Suzuki came out which was cool and they'll wrestle each other next week. The Acclaimed joined Mark Briscoe and Swerve Strickland in the Blood & Guts which I don't look foward at all. There was a little funny Elite backstage segment with Okada thirsting over Mercedes Mone which I really enjoyed. Monè vs. Rose was alright. I really liked the post-match brawl with Baker. Really enjoying this feud so far. Afterwards Mariah May came out dressed up as "Timeless" Toni Storm. She has now covered all of Toni's gimmicks. She cut a really good promo unfortunately ruined by a bad crowd. I believe Mariah still has Toni in her head otherwise I don't see why she should come out dressed up as Toni again. Okada vs. Swerve was a good main event. I hope they'll run it back one day. The ending was your classic early days Dynamite with a huge brawl between The Elite and Team AEW. There was a nice little tease between Hangman and Swerve and Darby descended from the rafters just like Sting to end the show and ally himself with Team AEW. Fantastic ending. Overall: the opener was a classic. The other matches were just fine but there were some really good segments/angles all throughout the night, the ending one in particular."
[7.0] "I'm giving 250 a 7 out of 10. The MJF/Ospreay match was incredible and deserves all the praise, but the other two matches were frustrating on multiple levels. The first hour was a 10, the second hour was a 4."
[4.0] "I love AEW more than most, but I really did not enjoy this dynamite very much. While I understand why people enjoyed the opener, I really did not enjoy it. It would have been fine if it went half as long but I felt it just went on too long. Mercades vs Nyla was generally fine and the main event was also fine, but I really did not like the dq ending The Elite backstage segment and Darby's decent from the rafters were the best parts of the show."
[4.0] "I didnt really like Dynamite 250 to be honest. Was probably the weakest Dynamite in two months for me. It didnt really feel festive or celebratory of AEWs history in any way. A joyless broadcast with weak follow up to the big Mariah May angle from last weak, a middling crowd, set up for the coldest and most emotionally flat, low stakes Blood and Guts to this point and a checklist opener that was strong until it wasnt. The only times I smiled were when the little girl punched Max in the gut and when Darby descended from the ceiling. Thats AEW. The rest of the show felt Chat GPT. Id prefer more charm and self reference from my anniversary shows personally. A batshit multiman tag, a one night reunion or two, an oh **** off! Lambert cameo and someone slipping on Nakazawas oil backstage wouldve done the trick"
"[8.5]Solid as hell episode of Dynamite. MJF and Osprey killed it. It was great to see Nyla in a high stakes match. Not a fan of the finish to Swerve v. Okada, but it makes sense to me. The Hangman/Swerve eye to eye gave me goosebumps and I can't wait for those 2 to tear it up again."
[7.0] "Hard to accurately rate this show in all honesty. The opening match took up a whole hour and was a MOTY candidate, but the second hour of the show felt very underwhelming with an extremely lackluster first time meeting between two of AEW's top stars in the main event. Overall, this was a good show I believe, but it's very much a one match show for me. Though it's hard to complain when that one match takes up half the show's runtime. [MOTN: MJF vs. Will Ospreay]"
[5.0] "It's tough when you bet 50% of your show on one match. I thought the opening match was good but left a lot of potential in the ring. The second half of the show was overall just meh with two rather disappointing matches and the segments were also not the most intriguing and worth seeing. First half: 7/10 Second half matches: 5/10 Second half segments: 1/10 Therefore overall a solid show with a lot of disappointment and wasted potential (for an anniversary/special episode)"
[9.0] "One of AEW's best shows ever. The opening match between Ospreay/MJF was fantastic, and the ending was a perfect subversion of expectations. The ending breaking down into a faction war reminded me of early Dynamites and what made me love this company to begin with."
[8.0] "I think as a whole the second hour looked a bit weaker following that insane opening match. I left a description for that match, so I will focus more on the rest here. I do not like Chris Jericho segments, no matter how often he appears, there are other talents that deserve more airtime. I also do not understand why in the world Minoru Suzuki would target the FTW title. The FTW title should disappear and not be "the" midcard title, it has no prestige and isn't even a real AEW title. You have three midcard belts, do more with these three, not with the FTW title. Mercedes vs Nyla was a decent match, Mariah May's promo was fine though a bit wonky. The main event didn't interest me because with 15 minutes to go I knew it would just be a setup for next week, which is fine. Overall, the show is an easy recommendation just for the spectacular first hour alone, so it's impossible for me to go lower than 8 here."
[9.0] "When half of your show is spent on an instant classic, youre pretty much playing with the houses money. This was a heck of a show with a pair of huge matches and nothing bad to bring it down. While some parts of it might not have been as interesting (Mone/Jericho/Suzuki), that opener was more than enough to carry it. They only needed one other good thing to make this an easy win and the May promo was more than enough. Great show here, with that opener being more than PPV quality."
"I think it was a good episode of Dynamite, the highlight was definitely Ospreay and MJF. I was really surprised for this match to happen on "free TV", I thought this match was great especially considering how fast paced it was despite going for 60 minutes. I was initially a bit underwhelmed by the finish but I think it was executed well. I think the only slight thing for me was that it meant the rest of Dynamite followed a great match"
[8.0] "Very solid show on the whole, especially given that the main event was obviously not going to end in a clean finish. The Intercontinental title match was wonderful, save for a 30-second period where Ospreay doubled-down on the "Can he find it in him to use the Tiger Driver? " nonsense, despite the fact that we've already seen that: Yes, yes he can. Mone/Rose was good, as well. Most of the non-wrestling segments were decent, though nothing super memorable. But the hour-long match to start the show, with a good'ol classic heel finish elevates this to another great Dynamite."
"Another all timer Dynamite mostly will rememberd by MJF vs Ospreay match which it was a fantastic all timer bout I get the idea some fillers to try to push it toward 60min but the finish justify all that for me when Ospreay hesitated with the Tiger Driver but MJF disn't hesitate using the ring to win the match and the title and leave the door open for the rematch. For the TV Time segment I am glad Suzuki is here and will kick Jericho's ass next week. The Elite with Monè segment was very very funny and Okada is a national tressure. Mariah May segment was very good and creepy for me and make up team deserve a raise it took me a while to know that was Mariah not Toni and the worst part of that segment was the crowd with the fucking (what) chants. Swerve and Okada mini match was good but we know there will not be a finish but the segment was chaotic in the best way possible the best part was the camera angle on Swerve while Hangman music hits and finally we getting the face off after long time but Okada pulling Swerve and stole the moment from us I think it will play more with Okada and Hangman spark that started last week. Finally It is Darbyyyyyy Coming from the rafters with Schiavone voice was perfect to close the 250 episode of Dynamite and start 250 and more."
[9.0] "dynamite 250 was a big deal, really showing the best of what wrestling has. the show started with an amazing fight between MJF and Will Ospreay, a match people will talk about for a long time. this nearly hour-long battle was full of high-energy, amazing moments that kept the audience watching from start to finish. both fighters showed incredible skill and storytelling, setting a big tone for the night. the rest of the show kept up this high standard, with each match and part building on the last. the energy in the place was strong, with the crowd really into it and reacting to every moment. this episode felt special, not just as a celebration of Dynamite's 250th episode, but as a show of what makes AEW special"
[8.0] "A daft overbooked ending put a dampener on this show for me. The first hour was top class even though it was only one match - it was an amazing match. The second half contained a couple of mediocre matches, the second of which ended with a screwy finish and aforementioned overbookedness. Gets an 8 on the strength of the MJF / Ospreay match."
[10.0] "Episode 250 and AEW went all out. Has a weekly show ever opened with a 5 star match? A 2nd title defence. A Champion Vs Champion match. A fire promo from Mariah May. Fans will remember this show even with the weekly high standard. The show ended with a memorable segment too to set up Blood and Guts."
[9.0] "One of the best television matches of all time set up an exciting show. The other two matches were a little weaker, but they were all at least setting up story beats."
[4.0] "For the 250th episode of dynamite, it really didn't feel like an episode that was celebrating AEW or it's history. As always the learning tree segments are unbearable, I found MJF vs Ospreay to be a self indulgent mess. I enjoyed getting to see Nyla as always I wish she had more screen time. Really feel like they should have opened with Mariah, the crowd was pretty dead by the time they got to her promo and I feel like she was set up to fail a bit. The last match being used to set up blood and guts further really didn't do much for me, this blood and guts in general feels like a big pile of nothing. This would have been a year they could have built to a women's blood and guts but instead it'll just be another match that won't even end this "feud" which is barely one to begin with."
"i liked dynamite 250 but it wasnt necessarily my favorite i think it was a decent show with a really good ending but mjf vs ospreay was a good match and an iconic moment but im not a fan of mjf wrestling"
[4.0] "A one match show, really, and the match didn't really do much for me. Maybe I'm just jaded, but I'm getting a little sick of these self-indulgent "epics" where you have a great match but it's stretched out to double the natural length to feel more dramatic. It exhausted the crowd too, clearly - the Mariah May segment got a far tamer reaction than it would've had they just put her out first to bring some sort of continuity to the last episode. And despite only going 12 minutes, Swerve and Okada still somehow went into the overrun. I find it wild that they can book only three matches yet still run overtime, which affirms my feeling that time management has been a very big issue for AEW lately."
[7.0] "Take it as it was, 1 polarizing 60 minute classic, a sasha/mone match, a horrible crap Jericho segment, and a sparing match that was annulled for the set up for Blood and Guts. If your sour or cold on the International title match, this show was a 4.5, if you are hyped on that match, the show was a 7.5. Production was on top of their game tonight, the camera crew was at the best they ever have been, the director only missed like one moment. So I'll say the show was mediocre but the production boosted above that feeling."
[6.0] "Ospreay and MJF was enjoyable for the most part, but felt lacking at times. Too many near falls, and lack of substance at minutes 30-50. However the finish was great and it will be interesting to see what MJF does with the title. As for the other two matches, one was quick and nothing special and the other ended in DQ. Overall I have seen worse episodes obviously but for a special episode as this one it felt very lacking."
[6.0] "Ospreay and MJF was a great time, but sapped away all my interest in the rest of the episode due to how long/exhausting it was. By the time it was over I felt like I didn't have any more wrestling left in me. A really lopsidded 250 that should get credit for its first match, but knocked down a few points due to its lackluster second half and overall incohesion as a show."
[6.0] "This episode fell a little short for me, definitely short of its potential on paper, but it was still pretty watchable. I had issues with the opener but I thought it did enough to be enjoyable for the most part. Mone vs Rose was fine, too, and I thought the part with Jericho basically pleading "Please stop making me hit you" was funny. The main event went nowhere other than to build for Blood and Guts. Okay. That makes for a flat ending for the final match but here's my biggest issue. What's actually at stake at Blood and Guts? Do the winners get anything? Do the losers suffer in any kind of lasting way? There's a pretty big part of the puzzle missing when you think about it, especially for a big match in a rare match-type. Also, I think Mariah May should have stayed away from the direct All About Eve reference. That they were aping that story was obvious from the beginning to anyone who has seen that film. Now those who haven't know it's an unoriginal story too and will likely look out for other retellings of existing stories in future angles."
[9.0] "Another damn good episode of Dynamite, AEW has been on such a hot streak since Forbidden Door. MJF vs Will Ospreay kicked off the show, and wow, what a divisive match it was. I for one really enjoyed it. As someone who really loves a number of matches that reached or nearly reached the 60-minute mark, like the two Samoa Joe vs CM Punk matches, The few very long matches between Chris Hero and CM Punk (Including their two out of three falls match that went an insane 92:50) Bryan Danielson vs Hangman Page, MJF vs Bryan Danielson, FTR vs Bullet Club Gold, Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle Iron Man Match and John Cena vs Shawn Michaels from Raw, I had no issue with the length of the match. The two went balls to the wall in a 60 60-minute match, which to me, didn't feel like 60 minutes one bit. The action was intense, hard-hitting, and had some awesome moments, Ospreay missing an OsCutter on the apron, the middle rope Styles Clash, the two flipping out of top rope ranas, and the Hidden Blade Suicide Dive. The finish genuinely surprised me, as I thought it would be a definite draw as the time was ticking, but to my and everyone else's surprise, MJF clocked Ospreay with the Dynamite Diamon Ring after Ospreay, once again, couldn't deliver the kill shot that is The Tiger Driver '91. To me, it was great stuff. The Acclaimed being part of Team AEW for Blood and Guts is pretty lame, but whatever, I'm sure the match will be a lot of fun. Next up was the Learning Tree segment, which I'll admit, I might be in the minority but I find the Chris Jericho, Learning Tree pretty funny and not as annoying as a lot of people do. Jericho cut a pretty funny segment which led to Minoru Suzuki arriving to confirm a match vs Jericho next week. I think Suzuki is awesome, but he's obviously going to lose next week. Mercedes Mone vs Nyla Rose was pretty good, I like the teasing of Mercedes joining The Elite, I think she's a naturally great heel and she'll be a great fit in the stable. Post-match Mercedes was attacked by Britt Baker. Mariah then came out as Timeless Toni Storm to talk a little bit about her attack on Toni, last week. Was a decent promo, where she didn't explain much, and to be fair it's still early so it wasn't time to reveal everything right now. Kazuchika Okada vs Swerve Strickland was really good whilst it lasted, but there was no way this was going to end with a clean finish, it was more used to preview Blood and Guts where they revealed Team AEW's final member as Darby Allin repelled from the rafters, à la Sting. The show ended with a huge brawl to build to Blood and Guts next week."
[9.0] "an all timer of an episode that lived up to being the 250th episode. i did think starting the show with mjf vs will was a strange choice but with it going the hour it makes sense for it to be there on the card. they put on an absolute tv classic, probably top 5 matches of the year so far and arguably the best ever dynamite, some great fast paced counter wrestling that didn't slow down for the whole hour, they even teased a table spot for 40 minutes, the ending was completely unexpected and perfect timing from everyone. the acclaimed were then chosen for blood and guts and as much as this feels like a b team there isn't really another tag team that could be feuding with the bucs. jericho segment then happened, at least it was short. the mercedes match was pretty good but i wish they had built up nyla a bit more. the mariah promo was decent but sadly this terrible crowd whatted her, in 2024 i hate how this is still a thing. bcg being stripped of their titles makes no sense and i hate it. okada vs swerve was also getting pretty good but then a rare dq stopped it. while i am excited for next week, it is just for the match not the people involved as team aew is weak bar darby and swerve"
[9.0] "Excellent way to celebrate the 250th episode of Dynamite, starting with an all timer 60 minute match with Ospreay and MJF. I liked Mercedes Moné vs Nyla Rose too, good tv match but the feud with Britt Baker is the real money. Swerve vs Okada was cool, I liked the after match and it felt hot with the Hangman/Swerve faceoff and Darby Allin paying tribute to Sting. However I don't like The Acclaimed in Blood & Guts... I'd hoped it would have been MCMG or at least FTR. Also no hype for Jericho vs Suzuki."
[8.0] "Another good Dynamite in a string of them, with storylines continuing from week-to-week and one show leading into the next. The main event is great Attitude Era booking with a star vs. star match ending in a DQ, most likely leading to a PPV rematch somewhere down the line with a more conclusive finish. Wrestling TV shows have done this for decades, including the most successful era of wrestling in recent history, so I consider it smart booking. It allows the company to book two big names, but also gives them an out so that neither guy has to job cleanly. I'd much rather have a star vs. star match that ends in a DQ than a star vs. jobber match with a clean finish (the latter of which has been done to death by AEW.) The opener was a classic with both guys pulling out all the stops and keeping the crowd engaged for the entire 60-minute duration. The finish was perfectly-timed and shocking, considering everyone watching probably assumed it was going to a draw."
[4.0] "I think everyone's rating for this show will largely boil down to how much they enjoyed the MJF v Ospreay match since that took up half of the show. And since I didn't enjoy that match, I ended up not really enjoying this show. There were a few highlights; Nyla vs Mercedes was a fun match, I thought the Mariah May promo was good minus the what chants and the brawl at the end of show was fairly entertaining. But over half of this show was just bad, whether it be the aforementioned opening match, the awful Learning Tree segment or the weak main event. Obviously I'm in the minority here but this was just a really weak and at points, really bad episode of Dynamite."
[8.0] "Dynamite has been on an incredible hot streak since Double or Nothing, and whilst the streak arguably still continues, this is possibly one of the least hot episodes of the hot streak. In all honesty, even though I enjoyed the Ospreay/MJF match, I still think it went on a bit too long and threw the sequencing of the rest of the show out of whack. Having one of the other of the two matches on the card end in DQ was a little bit of a let down too. But, as we all know, a wrestling show is not just the sum of its matches, but also the rest of the overarching theatre, and the story beats for all of the feuds presented tonight - Ospreay/MJF, Mercedes/Britt, Mariah/Toni, and the Blood & Guts build - were executed incredibly well. The Mariah promo alone is worth a point in itself, in my opinion."
"Amazing 250th show that went by so fast. The 60min opener between MJF and Ospreay was unexpected and overall a great match. It gives MJF a title and Ospreay a story of defeat from where to ascend to nre heights. Other higlights were the Okada-Strickland match and the Mariah May segment."
[9.0] "We got a PPV Main Event for free to kick off the show, and it went an hour. Incredible. Two of the best in the business MJF & Will Ospreay. I'm glad they have moved CEO to a heel, and returned DMD as a face. Austin Gunn's promo was hilarious. Solid main event with a good end to the episode."
[9.0] "[8.9] One of the best dynamites they've ever done. MJF-Ospreay is a very easy contender for TV MOTY, the Mariah segment was good and builds up a possible gimmick swap between her and Toni, Mercedes vs Nyla was a fun if not inconsequential match, and the closing brawl was really good. Jericho's learning tree stuff still falls flat, but that's the only real criticism I have."
"Legitmately one of the best if not the best Dynamite episode in the show's history. The MJF-Ospreay match might just be the best AEW match period and had so much story in the 60 minutes. Only critisicms is that the Jericho stuff just falls flat but I look forward to Suzuki beating the snot out of him next week. The Mariah May segment was great."
"show ruled. MJF vs Ospreay was a banger. Nyla vs Mone was a banger. Swerve vs Okada banger. Thirsty Okada is da best. Heres to 250 more episodes! [10] [10] [10]"
"Another show ending with an extended brawl in lieu of any real build towards the silly stipulation match next week that is happening because of arbitrary, annual stipulation match nonsense. Two big matches were advertised for the show, both ended with cliche, bad finishes and both went too long. If the match is getting a stupid finish why is it going 20-60 minutes? Why are you putting your audience through that much wasted time for a spoiled result? Imagine if Barry Lyndon ended it's 3 hour runtime with the protagonist slipping on a banana peel. You can't promote and praise your own show for being the best of something while actively producing a product that wastes the viewers' time for no reason. I am sick of these huge brawl sequences. Done too often and never done well. Guys having a heated brawl while clearly standing around waiting for the co-operative stunt that is always mistimed and late in AEW. The rest of the show saw Nyla Rose of all people being used to do a job for Mercedes, who has been a complete flop. Of all the women available they try to use their monster heel to get heat on Mercedes. It doesn't make sense. Then the fake security sent out to protect Mercedes end up tackling her because they obviously were not given proper directions. Also we got more of Jack Perry being presented as a scary tough guy. It doesn't work. It will never work. Please stop trying this. Why is he in the Elite if he never appears with them and is always LARPing as a tough guy in the hallway on his own? What is this character? Another Dynamite means another bad production; cameras zooming in and out clumsily, lighting patchy and lifeless. This company had a personality 5 years ago and a lot of room to grow. 250 episodes in and the only changes are the loss of personality and the refusal to learn how to manage any of the production properly. Also, why is Mariah getting spooky, eerie music in her video package? Is she supposed to be scary? The big reveal of the All About Eve story, that Tony Khan spoiled himself by namedropping it, unprovoked, in one of his more recent scrums, was so ham-fisted. Too actory, too badly shot and lit and closing with a blatant name-drop of the movie (with Eve swapped for Mariah) as if AEW wants to brag about badly copying a 74 year old film that the majority of their audience have never even heard of anyway. The show has been getting better, but an hour long opener is not accessible to casual viewers - especially with 2 weeks of build. There isn't enough history between MJF and Ospreay to justify an hour of stalling out the excessive amount of time they were given to kick out of every move so that they'll have nothing left to work with in their inevitable rematches. So what, as the story progresses and they get more reason to actually want to hurt each other they get to do either more of the same or less? It's completely backwards. AEW have a real problem with building things up and they desperately need to fix that problem. The Jericho stuff is stale again already, too, and it gets more and more upsetting seeing legends of wrestling come out to no reaction because there has been no effort made to establish them to the AEW audience - Suzuki shows up and loses and you expect an audience who largely didn't know him to begin with to still care? I love Suzuki and have for decades but he means nothing in AEW. The shows had been getting strong the previous weeks and I was getting optimistic again that they might figure out how to steer the ship and tighten up these shows, but this Dynamite was another case of AEW attempting to hotshot for ratings by booking matches that could have been built up and meant something, but now they were wasted with too much time and no benefit. The majority of this episode was superfluous."
"Wonderful show. Built for the future, celebrated this special episode, and gave us some amazing wrestling. All the matches were good but the opener was a thing of beauty. Great to see Wembley being built far more consistently than last year. Setting the table for blood and guts worked well and has brought more heat for next week. Really enjoying Sasha going heel and has really given her a lift"
[10.0] "Man o Man...What a dynamite...pure goosebumps from start to end...from past 3-4 weeks dynamite is on another level...everything is story driven, not like random matches which were religious on previous dynamites...aew is concentrating more on storylines which was a problem for it from many times...now aew is firing on every cylinders...nobody can stop this from getting a higher ratings and it is proving week after week it is the best wrestling show on tv..."
[8.0] "Really good episode of Dynamite, if not the extravaganza I would like it to be. The opening contest was a classic MOTYC, that was given every ounce of attention that feud deserves. The Acclaimed & Jack Perry promos for B&G were okay, and got paid off at the end. Mercedes continues her feud with DMD in a serviceable defence, with Britt chasing her away and them still not getting physical. The Learning Tree segment was decent, Jericho is seemingly finding a passable middle ground with his schtick on the mic. Suzuki was welcome, but the idea of their match seems unappetizing. The Mariah may promo was pretty good on paper, quite good in delivery, but the crowd really did not get into it. This Little Rock crowd seemed unenthusiastic and perhaps wanted to see a maniacal murderer in May and what they got was a cunning villain. After not having an identity for so long Mariah coming out after such a brutal heel turn as Toni (with them also kinda looking similar in general) was not a good idea. The psychological sharpness of what AEW were trying to do fell on its face with this crowd. The main event was really good, both men looked like stars and the match was getting quite great. I love the way Okada is wrestling and how strong he looks at all times, and the champ was super popular. End of the show brawl was okay, decently heated considering the smorgasbord of wrestlers on Team AEW, but Darby descending from the rafters was really cool. The standoff following that was somewhat goofy though because the brawl prior was not super intense and we really did not end the show with any major chaos or big fight feel. Still, a really good show carried by one of the best matches ever at the top."
"I really enjoyed this show and the opener was a MOTYC. The Mercedes segments, OKADA segments. Everything was super entertaining. I cannot wait for the payoff of Mariah May & Tony storm, I really enjoyed episode 250 very much. 8/10"
[5.0] "One of the weakest Dynamites of the year... the opener was a great match, MJF and Ospreay divided the wrestling community, but in my opinion the match was well worked, but the next two matches couldn't deliver anything, and the main event was extremely disappointing, considering the names involved. Segments were also weird, we had comedy Okada again looking like a loser and Mariah's segment was good but underwhelming considering the all-timer heel turn she just had. Darby coming from the rafters was great, but I'm extremely disappointed with the lineup for Team AEW for the Blood & Guts match."
[1.0] "Uh yeah, i didn't enjoy this. The toni and mariah stuff is okay but i know the match will be a dissappointment, one hour was wasted with the opener and the other two matches were surprisingly lame for a show that promotes itself as the best wrestling, the learning tree segment was, i mean, as bad as any other jericho recent stuff, and the fact that they keep using the Acclaimed both as faces and using them in general is enough to make me not want to watch dynamite weekly, a very lame 250 special show"
[10.0] "Another amazing dynamite, celebrating the 250th episode with the tv match of the year and a possible match of the year in Ospreay vs MJF. The rest of the show was good, with the mariah may promo being great even though the crowd was annoying. Looking forward to see how they follow up with MJF being the new champ."
[2.0] "The opening match was way too long and is a significant problem with today's wrestling scene. It was more high spots than anything else also there was a significant lack in storytelling within the match. People that say the opening match is an all time classic, will it be remembered in 3 months or so? Storytelling or the lack there of really makes this feel like a dud to me more than anything. The Mercedes Mone match felt flat as Nyla Rose just isn't that opponent for Mercedes. It was just an eh type of feel. The main May promo looked good until she spoke then it went south pretty fast. She needs a manager more than most if she is to thrive as a top heel after the Toni Storm feud. The main event ending in a DQ was just eh especially for an anniversary episode of Dynamite. This show had so much potiental but it underdelivered on the goods in my opinion."
[9.0] "Not quite as good as the past two weeks but still a really strong episode. Loved MJF-Ospreay. Did it go a little longer than it needed? Sure, but glad they had an actual winner instead of another draw. The pace they were able to go at for almost 60 minutes was insane. But otherwise loved it. Mariah May killed it even though the fans were morons. Mercedes-Nyla was okay but forgettable. Figured there would be a screwy finish to the main event, they painted themselves into a corner with a 60-minute opener that had a decisive finish, but really good way to close it out with a classic WCW melee finish."
"Was really surprised that the show opened with what was essentially a PPV headline match, lots of very tight and focused storytelling on the show and advancing the storylines, not much pointless fat. Great watch!"
[8.0] "The Will Ospreay and MJF match for me held this show together and they both gave us a TV Match of the year candidate for absolutely free. The two matches after I feel unfortunately suffered from this especially the Swerve vs Okada match. That's what I was looking forward to the most from this episode. Other than that very solid show imo. Also shout out darby Allen for coming down the rafters like sting. That was fucking epic."
[10.0] "Fantastic episode of Dynamite I would say maybe the best one of the year. Obviously it was heavily carried by probably the best match in Dynamite history and arguably the greatest TV match of all time between MJF and Ospreay but I enjoyed the rest of the show as well especially Darby Allin coming down from the rafters to ignite the big brawl to set up Blood and Guts for next week."
[9.0] "Excellent show, from the start of the show with the amazing match by MJF and Ospreay to the awesome promos and other matches including Okada and Swerve. Onto the breakdown. The title match was great, probably the best match I have ever seen on free TV, honestly just fantastic, it had it all, it was fun and it was fast paced, it was dramatic, it was a very welcomed title change and i look forward to see what MJF does with the belt. The Mariah promo was fantastic, slow methodical, evil and it provoked so many emotions, not to mention she looked so pretty wearing the timeless Toni gear. I did wish we got more from the Okada Swerve match but I understand its a tease of whats to come, thats AEWs future and honestly any combination of Swerve, Okada, Ospreay, MJF, Hangman and a few others can sell any main event be it on Dynamite or PPV, i look forward to AEW Dynamite 300, 400, 500 and more. A very solid and celebratory episode that had all the tones of the first 249 episodes. Thank you and I hope you enjoyed the show, some extra notes, the Learning tree segment was cool and the mercedes match was nice. Some promos backstage were very nice and solid. Check it out please"
[6.0] "It's a hard show to grade. More than half of it was one match. That match was great but it was also WAY too long and burned me out for whatever was next. I also didn't expect an actual match. I thought it would be an angle and the rematch would be at Wembley or something. So even though I really enjoyed that match, I'm not that pleased with it in the long run. Mone is still a disappointment and Strickland vs Okada didn't really go anywhere because we got the brawl at the end for a match, Blood and Guts, that I totally forgot about. Great workrate and even great matches don't necessarily make for a great overall show."
[10.0] "This show was a blast from the past. The good old days of committing to broadcasting excellent, state of the art wrestling and building your angles and promos off of the golden age of American pro wrestling and not the rotten abscess that it has been over the last few decades. The opening match was sublime. Was it the greatest match in wrestling history? Not a chance. Was it the greatest match in American TV wrestling history? Worth having a discussion about. If you can't enjoy a 60 minute masterpiece of physical performance, live crowd manipulation, and physical story-telling...why are you watching wrestling? Seriously. The main event match did a fantastic job of representing Swerve as physically and strategically on the same level as an all-time great, before breaking down into a frenetic, enjoyable brawl. Darby descending from the rafters was a special moment, and his connection to Sting will always be appreciated. Everything in between was a mix of good to great table dressing for Blood and Guts, All in, and the residency in Arlington. This company is hitting on all cylinders."
[10.0] "Massively entertaining episode of wrestling television with plenty of in ring action balanced with some story development with promos. MJF and Will Ospreay putting on what is easily the TV MOTY to date, you won't see me complaining about getting a match of this quality on free TV. Very eager to see the continuation of the Mariah/Toni story. A little taster of what Swerve Strickland and Kazuchika Okada can do together, will greatly look forward to them meeting again. Mercedes vs Nyla was fine for what it was. Really looking forward to Blood & Guts next week!"
[9.0] "We got an excellent 60-minute war between Osprey and and MJF, a great TBS title match between Mercedes Mone and Nyla Rose, a star-making promo from Mariah May, and Swerve vs Okada that was a great lead-in to Blood and Guts next week. This is the wrestling I live for."
[8.0] "The match up until the first break was excellent. Max worked the crowd and got his heat brilliantly. Lots of well worked segments and a couple of injuries that added some jeopardy. I was really enjoying the match, until they went into the stands. The little girl chopping max was funny, but they should never have gone out there. It didnt need it and killed the tone of the match for me. Once it got back into the ring a lot of the pace and the crowd was lost, perhaps the match went too long. The Ref never once attempted a count out despite the talent being outside the ring for about 5 minutes after they had already been in the stands. A rare miss from both of these guys here. Again they returned to the ring and where they both shine. A styles clash on the apron after a brief back and forth, two count. One arm powerbomb, two count, into another break. 40 minutes on the clock. TOO LONG. Back from the break it was back on track. Arrogant MJF and baby face Ospreay. The back elbow and mid rope styles clash done well. The table was finally broken with a flying elbow by MJF on Ospreay. ANOTHER Picture in Picture. Too long MJF had a heel tantrum about the belt, good work. Did some classic heel crowd work waiting for the end of PIP. Too long. Back from the break, 50 minutes on the clock. The pace started picking up, MJF a kind of powerbomb back breaker that looked sick. Cheeky Nandos kick by Ospreay. MJF landed on his feet from a top rope poisonrana, Will landed on his feet from top rope hurricanrana. This was so much better, the pace and the skill came back and so did the crowd. Lots of clever back and forth, a super kick to block the Oscutter, brain buster blocked, Stormbreaker blocked, rough looking Spanish Fly they got away with. Much better. Top rope Oscutter into a hidden blade, two count. Ospreay hinted at the tiger driver and then didnt hit it, ref bump. Hit with the dynamite ring and MJF won the title. 59 minutes and 58 seconds. I think it is unfair to rank this match in one go. Segment 1: 9/10, segment 2: 6/10, segment 3: 8/10. It went way too long, but I get why. The match was by and large excellent despite my complaining. I really enjoyed it. Had this been a twenty or thirty minute match with the outside stuff in segment two/three this would have been an easy 9/10 match. Regardless, it was a BELTER. What an opener. Acclaimed and Briscoes backstage segment, unfortunately the Acclaimed for blood and guts. At least we have Briscoe and Swerve. Learning Tree with Jeriblows. I guarantee people turned off in droves. Suzuki comes out, Schiavone talks over his entrance pop, because of course he did. Then the commentators made some jokes to pop themselves. For the love of god TONY! PAY RICCABONI WHATEVER HE WANTS. Get him and Nigel as lead team. Keep Taz if you want a thre man booth. But Schiavone and Excalibur are actively hitting the show. You have outgrown them and its time to accept that. Elite backstage promo, didnt really hit and then Mone interrupted. Okada did some comedy about her dance. I honestly wonder what AEW could have achieved if they had done this angle with believable, serious heels. If they could get the young bucks to take themselves seriously for just a minute. Theyve buried what should have been the biggest angle in the history of the company trying to keep themselves relevant. AEW will never be able to have someone hit TK again so its been permanently wasted in a vague attempt to get people to care about Jack Perry, and give the young bucks a reason the steal TV time. What are we doing? ! Anyone that survived TV time with Jericho would have been chased off with this nightmare fuel. Mone vs Nyla: decent match, rough in patches but just basically a squash match with extra steps. The crowd was surprisingly engaged throughout. Mone then took out her own glove and went for the lockjaw (DMD style) and Nyla bit her fingers, that was decent. Mone put the crossface on and got the win. After the bell we Britt attacked Mone from the crowd and got a good reaction. Im delighted for her. The security guards ran for the wrong person unfortunately but I doubt most people noticed or cared. Jack Perry beats up Cutler and calls out Darby. Who cares about it Jack or Cutler? ! Its pointless. Hopefully Darby could add some real heat to this. Mariah May promo: good promo, poor crowd reaction. Im looking forward to Wembley immensely. Tony schiavone once again proved how much of a liability he is dropping the B word aggressively. Get him in the back or doing in ring segments where he shines. This just aint it. Bang Bang gang backstage setting up their match on collision. Should be good. Swerve Vs Okada: decent start, slow paced but solid. Okada working the crowd and running the match as he should. Brief flurries where Swerve ups the pace and gets some offence in before Okada shut him down. Then it went to sh*t. A DQ interruption by the elite and then the rest of the blood and guts groups ran in. Hangman stopped from attacking swerve by Okada. Darby came in from the roof, sting style. Man I love Darby. Mark Briscoe might be one of my favourites. Hes a beast. The show by and large was really really good. A few missteps but the good far far outweighed the bad. If AEW keeps up this momentum, ALL IN is going to be incredible. On to Blood and Guts!"
[4.0] "YMMV if you're into long matches and DQs. I'm not, so U thought this was a pretty big drop off of what I would consider a top 10 all time Dynamite last week. I think MJF and Swerve are on TV enough, so taking and hour and a half to focus on them over everyone else made me a little bored."
[5.0] "Ive watched AEW more than any other promotion over the years, but this was a very disappointing episode. The work in MJF/Ospreay was great, but there was nothing about it that warranted 60 minutes, plus the ending felt cheap (***1/2). The decision to make the match that long damaged the rest of the show, as Mercedes/Nyla and Okada/Swerve both felt rushed. The decision to put Max Caster in Blood & Guts left me scratching my head. The closing angle was awesome, and Mariah Mays promo was effective. Subpar show."
[9.0] "A superb, hour-long title match, an homage to Sting from him disciple, Okada having a crush on Mercedes, Murder Grandpa, and a wild brawl leading straight to Blood and Guts. What a fun show."
[6.0] "Only one match I thoroughly enjoyed, the segments were okay to good. MJF vs Will Ospreay: What a match for AEW Dynamite 250, the match went almost an hour and it was absolutely awesome, they gave all they had and more, quite a few memorable moments and even if MJF did win the title and Ospreay lost, one of the best matches from Dynamite I have seen in a while, both took each other to the limit both physically and almost time limit [*****]. Mercedes Mone vs Nyla Rose: It was an okay match, there wasn't any chemistry to be honest, the action was average at best, Mercedes was the obvious winner here [**]. Swerve Strickland vs Kazuchika Okada: This match was not that good to be honest, could not enjoy it that much, and the DQ finish did ruin it sadly [*1/4]."
[10.0] "This truly felt like a celebration of Dynamite and how far they've come, especially with the major storylines like Ospreay/MJF, as the rivalry continues to develop with a fantastic, nearly 60-minute long match that was like an ironman match in everything but name; Mone/DMD with some legitimate hype behind it; the incredible long-term storytelling with Mariah and Toni; and of course, the buildup for the Blood and Guts match that we'll be seeing next week! Dynamite is on fire right now in my opinion, and I can't wait for next week's special Blood and Guts episode!"
[8.0] "Another very solid episode of Dynamite, however there was a noticeable dip in quality from the previous two weeks. If it wasn't for the incredible 59 minute opening match between Ospreay and MJF, I probably would have rated it a little lower. The main event was always going to be more of an angle and mess to lead to Blood and Guts, so I was mostly fine with that end to the episode. That said, I feel the hottest things AEW have from the last few weeks are MJF and Ospreay, Britt and Mercedes and Mariah and Toni and so more could have been done with the latter two. Mariah probably should have opened the show. Overall, the first hour was absolutely brilliant and then things get a little more mixed. The Learning Tree stuff really doesn't need to be on every week and the EVP heel Elite storyline has felt a bit directionless since it began."
[4.0] "It was a downgrade from last two Dynamites that's for sure. If you're hyping up a special episode then put some effort into it. In my opinion special episodes should have way more segments. Unfortunately more than 60 minutes were wasted on MJF vs Ospreay match which wasn't worth it after the finish. Why did this happen on free tv after not much buildup? This would have hit the crowd so hard if there was weeks and weeks of buildup behind it. But it didn't and the crowd's mild reaction showed this. Garcia should have caused an interruption or a DQ or double count out should have prevented this... Other matches were even worse. And only three matches on a 2 hour show? Sheesh... Mariah delivered a very good promo but crowd couldn't care less. I really liked that segment... And another horrendous Learning Tree segment. The crowd started booing Jericho as soon as he opened his mouth. Suzuki comes out and hits Jericho while Big Bill and Bryan Keith do nothing? Wtf? Sleep inducing segment... Jack Perry still can't cut promos if his life depended on it. He is just so bland, so unintimidating it's funny... Mercedes accepting her fate as a heel is good. She looked awful desperately trying to be a babyface these last few months... Not a fan of Okada doing comedy and not a fan of this Elite storyline when there are no consequences to this... This was a 250th episode. So many opportunities for rest of the roster to appear on this episode but it looked so empty. They should have had Bryan Danielson, Moxley, and probably other big stars like Hayter and Omega in speaking only roles. This should have been a spectacle. Or this should not have been advertised as such."
[10.0] "an excellent match worthy of a (big) PPV to open the show, a segment with Jericho preparing for the future fight between Jericho and Suzuki, a match for the TBS title with a post match preparing for the future All In match between Mone and Britt Baker, a segment with May dressed as Storm to prepare for their rivalry and their All In match and a main event between two champions to prepare for next week's Blood & Guts match. In short, good, very good wrestling and segments used to prepare for future events, that's what we expect from a good weekly and that's what we got. So a very good weekly."
[9.0] "Not quite as good as the prior two episodes of Dynamite but still a phenomenal one. The opener is one of my favourite matches in tv history, Mercedes/Nyla was fine for what it was. Mariahs promo was great and I cant wait to see more. You could tell they were holding back in the main event but I loved the schmozz at the end. Excited for blood and guts and All In."
[3.0] "I went into 250 excited given the expected quality of those involved but I was left quite disappointed. Half the show was taken up by Ospreay and MJF which turned out to be mediocre given the timeframe they had. I felt the finish could of been achieved in a shorter timeframe with MJF winning with the ring and still building into the rematch at All In, but instead we got a full hour of constant pinfalls, using moves like styles clash as transitional moves. Mercedes Mone and Nyla Rose was instantly forgettable and offered nothing in terms of match quality. I expected a lot more from Okada and Strickland but it felt low effort, and Okada has felt underwhelming for awhile in AEW. The Mariah May promo was decent."
"PPV quality match to open the show. To be able to watch 2 of the best in the world go like this is nothing short of amazing. Storytelling progressed throughout the match, and the last hour flew by and was very entertaining. Commentary is always hilarious, congrats on 250, best pro wrestling show every week by a mile. Do not listen to the other comments from the troll brigade. This show was all killer no filler. Mercedes can go in the ring, and Okada backstage with her was hilarious. He does have some funny bits but is all business in the ring. Do not be put off by his dry humor, the guy almost put Swerve out cold until interference which set up next week brilliantly. To see Darby come down like Sting back in the WCW days was the cherry on top."
[3.0] "This show sucked a fat one for two hours. The only good thing about this entire thing was the Mariah May promo. The matches provided offered very little for myself to enjoy. The opener is probably one of the worst matches I've seen this year, not THE worst, I already talked about that one. But it is probably the worst AEW match I've seen this year. It just offered nothing of value to me. I was hoping Mercedes vs. Nyla would be good but it was just fine, didn't really do anything too crazy. Swerve vs. Okada definitely happened and was just a cock tease for the Blood & Guts match next week, A DQ finish for an allegedly "historic" match, yeesh. Darby Allin showing up from the rafters like Sting was unintentionally a funny visual. So yeah, not good."
[10.0] "Dynamite is on a hot steak! This show was tight and compact which is unusual for a Dynamite but when you're doing an hour long match that second hour has to be. Everything on this show severed a purpose and built to something. Awesome opener which might be my TV MOTY so far. The Jericho segment was shorter than expected and it let me yell KAZA NI NARA! Which I'll never not pop for. Okada continuing to be the funniest wrestler alive. Mercedes and Nyla having an good match to further the All In fued. Jack Perry counting to be an amazing character. Mariah May giving a decent promo that the live crowd messed up IMO. Then the main which had awesome wrestling before the interference which lead to a really fun brawl and closing out strong."
[10.0] "Fun show tonight. For a one match show that one match really delivered. The stuff with Mercedes and Britt has been gold and it's great to see Nyla getting a match on 250 after being there since the start. Awesome ending to the show that really felt like something from the Dynamites of old. Mariah did a very good job tonight building on her feud with Toni and I can't wait to see what happens next with that. My only big negative was getting Jericho after a 60 minute MJF match as I'm a bit bored by Jericho (though the more sinister tone he's had is a step in the right direction) but even that was saved with Suzuki showing up. Can't wait for Blood and Guts even if I'm not too hyped for the Acclaimed in it."
"I enjoyed the first half of MJF and Ospreay but the second half just felt so repetitive. As a 20/30 minutes match it would have been amazing but I was just thinking "hurry up and get this over with" by the end"
[6.0] "Overall I liked the show although I was pretty shocked they only put three matches on the card. This seems abnormal for AEW and I hope it doesn't become a pattern. I thought the Ospreay vs MJF was probably the biggest highlight for me. I also thought both of the other matches were pretty good. The show definitely had some fun segments as well. I just don't think I could give the show higher than a 6 on account of the unusually low Match count. I feel like even with Ospreay and MJF going an hour that they still could have squeezed another Match on the card."
[6.0] "I'm gonna go in the middle for this and give my reasoning why as I usually don't when I rate shows since this one was pretty divisive. MJF vs Ospreay was a GOOD match to me, but at times very self indulgent. I believe the match could of been 30 instead of 60, while condensing the story they wanted to tell in that amount of time. Felt more like a match that went 60 for the sake of it, instead of something that would of fit the story. This leads to my next mini gripe i had. I feel like because that went so long other things on the show didn't get as much time to shine as they could of. I would of loved to see Mercedes and Nyla been able to go another 6-7 minutes, ditto with Swerve and Okada (especially with the type of wrestler Okada is). It felt like both never got to reach the next gear and easily could of were they both given extra time. Mariah May and the ending with Darby were the two high points of this show and saved it from being bad/middling. Wasn't the biggest fan of this show but in no way did i think it was bad/terrible. I think they should stick to the formula they've done for the past 3 episodes of dynamite that had a good mix of great wrestling and character progression, as I felt this one lacked both mainly because of the first match."
[7.0] "I thought tonights episode was a pretty good episode. The MJF Vs Ospreay match was really good but I dont like when AEW always has matches like this and Ospreay no sells everything. And with using a table in a normal match which normally would be a disqualification. But overall a good match. Besides that Mercedes Vs Nyla was an ok match and the main event was pretty good. Im hoping they have a rematch with MJF & Ospreay and Garcia costs MJF at All In which then leads to a three way at All Out."
"This was just a ratings grab I was not impressed at all giving away title matches on tv is never the right way to do it also MJF has lost whatever it was before the injury I hope he can get it back"
[9.0] "An incredible episode of Dynamite. It was mostly carried by two matches. The first was longer than I personally would have done but MJF and Ospreay put on an all time TV classic. An hour is difficult for anyone to pull off but these two great wrestlers were able to do it. Seeing Suzuki was excellent and Mercedes and Nyla was a nice quick sprint. The main event was a fun taste of what Swerve and Okada could do with more time. The ending was really cool and a fun WCW Nitro type of ending. Overall fun two hours."
[7.0] "I thought the show was ok, not as good as the last few weeks, but pretty good and a welcome distraction from politics, (boy this month cant end fast enough), but anyways, the MJF/Ospreay match was really good obviously but it didnt need to be an hour, but cant really complain, good wrestling is good wrestling ! We absolutely did not need the learning tree segment smh, loved the interaction between Mercedes and Okada and hope that is explored more, it was interesting hearing some of the crowd cheer Mercedes, makes me wonder if shes going to get dueling chants moving forward. Tony calling Mariah a bitch was hilarious and the ending of the show was ok enough, wish they were in a better city with a better crowd though !"
[7.0] "If this show was planned better, then it couldve been a much higher score. Starting off with a 60 minute match followed by Jericho practically guaranteed that Mariah wasnt going to get the reaction or attention that she deserved after last week. Having Will vs MJF as the main event would have also not made the main event seem so pointless since it was obviously just going to be an angle. Darby and Swerve are awesome, but the only way theyll be on the winning team is to try to sell it as an upset, cause their teammates should not be in that Blood and Guts match. Mercedes vs Nyla would have been a much better match 4-5 years ago when Nyla had any momentum at all."
"Surprising how so many people cant seem to remain focused on a match if it lasts more than 20 minutes. do yourself a favour and switch to watching soap operas."
[9.0] "The in-ring work in this episode (especially the opening match) was of a quality that you literally won't see on TV anywhere else, and you certainly haven't seen in recent past. The stories told in the ring (and in post-match segments) through the other two matches was of a very high quality and does a great job in building toward Blood & Guts and All In. I was particularly impressed with the way they integrated Darby into the angle with Jack Perry and the Elite so seamlessly (and in a way the crowd clearly enjoys), as well as the manner in which Ospreay and MJF were able to weave so many angles/stories into their ringwork. I thought May's promo was great, and it's a shame the WHAT? chants diminished it. The Jericho stuff remains the sole piece to be ambivalent about in Dynamite programming, and I'll be excited when that time is dedicated to some other folks on the roster."
"Top tier episode of dynamite this week .. MJF and ospreay put on a clinic to start the show. The Mariah may prom was excellent and the rest of the show was really solid. Only down was the acclaimed joining team AEW for blood and guts next week"
[7.0] "I wanted to like this episode more but man did MJF/Ospreay drag like hell after its first half. Time limit should've been a half hour, maybe 45 minutes, you can still have that last second pinfall but before it feels like they've exhausted just about every spot possible and are just killing time. Mercedes/Nyla was fine, both are solid in ring workers and they put on a good showing, Brit appearance helps keep that story moving. Okada/Swerve is definitely gonna happen on a PPV as a proper match, but here it served its purpose to establish Darby's return and send us into blood and guts next week in a good place. The Mariah May promo was absolutely stellar, I'm loving this storyline and her coming out as timeless Toni was really great. All in all, this episode did what it needed to do, and while I wish a milestone episode like this had been a bit more exciting, it was definitely a strong showing that helped to advance the current stories and have everything in a good place as we head into the final stretch of the build to All In."
[3.0] "Since half of this show was Ospreay vs MJF (an absolute DUD), I can't give this more than a 3 because there wasn't anything else here to save it. Mercedes Moné vs Nyla Rose was forgettable if anything and in the main-event we saw the continuation of Okada following the footsteps of his senpai Shinsuke Nakamura in US television not putting any effort. I hope the retirement money is good. The Elite storyline is one of the most embarrassing things AEW has ever booked and getting The Acclaimed in the mix doesn't help a bit. Highlight of the show was Mariah May's segment, very good."
[8.0] "Another good Dynamite. MJF vs Ospreay was a very good match. I know a lot of people have been complaining especially on Twitter but I think theyre over-hating. Yes, it felt like it was dragging towards the middle part but in-ring wise its another incredible showing of both these guys. Mone vs Nyla was a fine womens title match. Mariah May doing the timeless Toni Storm impression was cool to see. That match is gonna be super good. What Tony said on commentary during her talking was a little wild lol, there really was no need for him to call her that. Swerve vs. Okada was a good Main Event. the ending to the show with the elite/team AEW brawling was awesome. Especially with it followed by Darby decending down from the rafters was a great homage to his father Sting. Fun show, very enjoyable. Compared to other Dynamites & it being a big special anniversary event I feel as though they couldve cut MJF/Ospreay in half and gave someone like Danielson a match to make it a little more special but theres no point in complaining. Great show!"
[9.0] "Little Rock's hottest new club is Dynamite. This place has everything: -A 60-minute time limit draw tease that ends in a pinfall for a title change -A triple table spot tease paid off by a gorgeous diving elbow (no legs were fractured) -An avalanche poisonrana flat-footed counter followed by an avalanche hurricanrana flat-footed counter -A single-armed kneel-out Last Ride (what do I even call this? ) -A garbage can Cheeky Nando's -A little girl chopping Max in the chest -A fielder's choice apron Styles Clash or avalanche Styles Clash (porque no los dos? ) -Kazuchika Okada down bad for Mercedes 9/10 wrestling rules"
"Tonights dynamite was a solid 8 and if you disagree then the show and the company is just not for you and thats fine there is plenty of other wrestling shows out there. Review bombing shows is actually degen behaviour."
[10.0] "This was an excellent episode, very well paced from a to z, which allowed all the ongoing storylines to move forward. We were treated to 3 very good fights, very good athletically. With the first fight likely to leave an indelible mark on many thanks to its extraordinary 59 minutes and 58 seconds. Thanks to these wrestlers for giving their all every week and for giving so much of themselves to entertain us. The last fight was very clever, to make us want to be at blood and guts even more. Ps: it's not normal to let so many people leave ratings from 0 to 3 when by just reading the first 2 sentences of their comments we can know that they simply hate AEW and just want to reduce it. Thank you cagematch.net to do something about this the wwe fan in life and death who rate all the shows of the aew with the note of 0 every week do not deserve to be part of this beautiful community that is cagematch."
[5.0] "Didn't think this lived up to the 200th episode which did infact have a kind of "restore the feeling" effect whereas this, uh, didn't. The controversial MJF/Ospreay match obviously took up most of the show. Not my cup of tea but not completely awful either. The Mercedes match was pure filler and not very good filler at that. The Mariah May promo/angle was a huge whiff with a crowd that just did not care about giving that thing heat at all. Main event was also pure filler except also a waste of a "huge" match."
[8.0] "3 Solid shows in a row where AEW progressed many storylines and built up the cards for upcoming shows. This show started off with what I'd say is one of the best matches in AEW Dynamite history. MJF proves hes the top heel on the roster and had a perfect 1 hour match with Ospreay; where Ospreay lost due to not using the Tiger Driver, and getting hit with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, which is what Garcia refused to do and lost. Mercedes and Nyla had a decent match. Mone segment with the Elite before the match, and her and Britt after her match was really good stuff, I can see a lot of story potential here. Swerve and Okada was the build up preview for Blood and Guts. The Elite stormed the ring and caused the DQ. Soon there was an all out brawl, which was actually really good and surprising. Darby came in from the rafters is an amazing visual. Some people criticized that for being one week after the Owen Cup, it was reported AEW actually asked Martha Hart if this was OK. Overall Awesome show."
[9.0] "A very good Dynamite. MJF vs Ospreay was an instant classic, had very good spots, a very intense and fast pacing match that lasted almost an hour. I dont remember such a long match in television, but as a fan of this type of fights I was pleased. Both are great wrestlers and I think that put over MJF was a great move, im hoping for a rematch. Jericho segment was ok, this character is werid but is evolving, I hope people give it a little more time, because is already hated. Mariah promo was good, this story is probably the best women storyline in wrestling today (at least in occident). Mariah dressed as Toni was a nice touch. The Moné vs Rose match was ok, maybe the lowest point of this program and the reason of not being a 10. Moné is very slow, she isnt gaining pace, and neither Nyla Rose, so the match was lacking some action. The segment with Britt was cool. And last the Swerve vs Okada was very cool, a little slow paced at first, and a obvious DK end. Darby return was fire, always nice to see Darby Aillin. Great program and pushed some nice stories."
[3.0] "Another terrible episode of Dynamite. The MJF and Ospreay match was downright awful, and had a terrible result. We then went backstage and found out that The Acclaimed are gonna stink up the Boood and Guts match next week. Terrific. We then had another TERRIBLE TV Time segment from the learning tree. Ive said it before and Im gonna say it again, Jericho has go away heat, I dont care if its supposed to be bad, that doesnt make it better. We then had the womens match that was mediocre. Im not a big fan of Nyla, shes very slow and clunky in ring. The main event very heavily under delivered and had a non finish with everyone brawling at the end."
"This is again as good as wrestling on TV can get. An all time classic between MJF and Ospreay. Legitimately one of the best matches Ive ever watched on tv. Good story progression and a hot cliffhanger ending to tease the next episode. Just fantastic all around. MJF and Ospreay deserve all of the flowers in the world for putting themselves through a match like that when the easy thing to do is deliver a typical 15min match like most in their position would do. AEW is on fire since April, and in particular over the last 3 weeks."
[9.0] "This show featured an absolute 59:58 classic by MJF & Ospreay. I am shocked to see how low that has been rated so far (currently rated a 6.24 with 10 x0 which is something). Match absolutely delivered & more importantly the story is there. Cannot wait for the rematch. Mercedes had an okay match vs Nyla Rose. Britt using Stings mask in the crowd surprising Mercedes was cool. Not a fan of the Acclaimed joining Team AEW for blood & Guts but they are the #1 Contender for the tag titles the young bucks posses so at least there's that. Loved Mariah May coming out as Timeless Toni Storm. Curious to see the way they continue to build May vs Storm. Main Event sucked but the post match antics saved it. Darby coming down like Sting from the roof was terrific. He's a good addition to team AEW. Loved they kept Hangman & Swerve apart. By no means better than the prior 2 weeks but it was a really good show with a classic opener."
[8.0] "This show as carried by the opener, which I personally thought was amazing (**** 1/2). The match justified its length to me, and was a great showcase for MJF as a heel while still keeping Will looking strong. The women's title match was good but not great, it clearly wasn't given a ton of focus. The main event was mostly just there to setup the Blood and Guts main event, and have a showdown between Swerve and Adam Page, which is the most interesting thing in the company imo. The main event is easily the most important part of the show, the second best aspect being the great Mariah May promo."
[10.0] "I am very shocked on how polarizing the Osprey versus MJF match was. I thought it was probably the best match I ever saw. I just don't get the hate becouse it was 60 min. Most titles have 60 min timelimit but most companies Don't use it, I'm kind of really over the Jericho stuff. It really hurts the show every week. I really hope that tk sees that. I start the Mariah May. stuff was really good, but it just sucks that the crowd was so rude with the what chants. Main event was fun. It was really cool seeing Darby come down from the rafters. Besides the Jericho stuff, I thought it was a really good episode. And like I said, the 1st event over delivered. I just don't understand the hate for it."
"An excellent Dynamite with a Match of the Year-caliber opener in MJF vs Ospreay. MJF needed a match like this after a rather slow start to his big return and he certainly delivered tonight. I eagerly look forward to an eventual rematch hopefully soon."
[7.0] "I was expecting one of the best AEW Dynamite episodes we had seen in a long time and man did they disappoint. Where do I even begin? Ospreay vs. MJF didn't need to go almost 60 minutes, They blatantly forgot wrestling rules, they had repetitive spots and boring moments all for a good climax but man...I don't know what to say. Mone vs. Rose was skippable and the brawl after was good! The Mariah May promo was alright. Nothing too special and her delivery was very monotone and lifeless. The main event was underwhelming as hell and a waste before they had a WCW styled brawl to end it. [***1/2]"
"[10.0] What an amazing show! The MJF WILL OSPREAY match was amazing went for 59 mins! That had me on the edge of the seat! We got Mercedes MONÉ also my favorite wrestler doing great things! We got build up for the DMD! Also Mariah May killed it with her promo as Toni Storm what a show!"
[7.0] "Pretty good. The opener might split opinion due to its length, but I thought they did a good job with the pacing and the ending was fantastic. Elite shitting on the Acclaimed and Okada sweating over Mercedes were fun, also liked Jack beating up Cutler. Really underwhelmed by the Acclaimed entering Blood and Guts, but if Caster finally turns heel on Bowens I'll take it all back. Dumb ass WHAT chants during Mariah's promo. Mercedes and Nyla match was fine, main event was basically filling time to build to the DQ brawl ending, as it should."
[10.0] "Brilliant show tonight. Ospreay and MJF was a MOTY candidate that told multiple stories and showcased why these guys are two of the best in the world at this right now. Just amazing to watch. Mone and Nyla killed it and had a great, high intensity banger and the pull apart was hot with the crowd. Please book Nyla more, Tony. Mariah knocker promo out of the park even with the dumb "what" chants. Swerve and Okada was really cooking before the interference but the aftermath made it worth it. Darby coming from the rafter almost made me shed a tear. Cool ass tribute and Briscoe unhooked him like a damn pro. This right here tonight, is the shit I came to see."
[3.0] "250 episodes deep, and it still feels exactly the same. This pattern of AEW following their biggest successes up with nothing is getting really, really annoying now. To watch a show, week to week, and always have this deep feeling with AEW that the shows simply cannot stay good. And again, that worry is proved right. A deathly boring opener that goes an ungodly hour of copy and paste spots from both competitors already formulaic matches. Nyla and Mercedes was okay, crowd didn't so it justice whatsoever. Main event was a champion vs champion match that ended in a lame but immensely predictable DQ finish. Reeked of 2020 WWE. Bleak, bland matches and uninteresting segments that take place in front of dead silence. At least Mariah May has a good promo."
[3.0] "Going into this show, I was super hyped up. Although the card was small, they put out the big players. Unfortunately... The card not only underdelivered, a lot of it was straight up bad. MJF/Ospreay did not work for me at all. I thought they mashed up a bunch of different match types and it did not work at all, and when the match goes an hour, some of those stretches appear lengthy and dull. Mercedes/Nyla was pretty bad, as they had no chemistry. Okada/Swerve was... fine. You kinda just sat waiting for the screwy finish which they did. Not only were the matches not very good, the limited non-wrestling segments were ALSO bad. The Mariah May explanation was a flop, I am so done with The Learning Tree, and the post main event brawl was very uninteresting. I do not care about the Blood & Guts match and tonight's show did nothing to improve that. "Team AEW" is such a lousy team. Everything on paper seemed awesome, which makes it hurt more that it pretty much all flopped."
[9.0] "Despite and overall weak build to next weeks Blood & Guts match, the ending to this show really helped elevate the excitement, and Darby Allin being in that match will be absolutely bonkers, outside of that we've got a fantastic opening match, solid womens action, and a good storyline main event where a DQ finish is completely fine, a good follow up with Mariah, but a rather weak learning time segment keeps this show from being a complete 10/10, and I do enjoy me some learning tree Chris Jericho, I just felt this one was weak, absolutely insane to give that match on free tv awesome stuff, absolutely loved it, great show and a fantastic cap to 250 episodes of AEW Dynamite :)"
"This show was the epitome of AEW and what dynamite has become known for over the past 250 episodes. Incredible in ring athleticism and a super fast pace and strong show closing angles. The mjf ospreay match delivered and then some, the sequences those men pulled off 50+ minutes into the match was just ridiculous. Rest of the show kept the flow going and there wasn't a single segment that didn't work for me. Three straight phenomenal episodes of dynamite building tons of momentum towards ALL IN. Also as a side note, loved that Mercedes couldn't properly apply the lockjaw like Britt can..Great little detail"
[10.0] "Another fantastic Dynamite, continuing the excellent run of Wednesday night shows since the Iowa episode last month. Discussion and your enjoyment of this show is going to focus on the 60 minute MJF vs Ospreay match that killed in the building, kept in intense pace the entire time, yet will have an incredibly divisive reaction because half of the IWC have convinced themselves one or the other of the combatants are actually bad. I havent loved Maxs return run so far, but have to give him props for putting on one of the best matches in AEW TV history"
[10.0] "This episode was an absolutely phenomenal barnburner from start to finish. From a very good Mercedes/Nyla match to a fantastic angle to close the show and make me hyped for Blood and Guts, despite my dislike of the Acclaimed, is great work. And thats not even mentioning what is, for my money immediately following this episode, possibly the best TV match I have ever had the privilege of watching in MJF/Ospreay. Incredible in ring work with a finish that astounded me and made me intrigued beyond belief for the future. This show is an easy 10."
