[7.0] "The show looked great on TV and in the ring it was much improved after last week's very forgettable 2 hours. Hopefully they do more smaller venues after this residency is over. Kind of sad that the theme song has gone though, but Elton John was probably charging silly money for it. There were some audio issues too with lots of echo but hopefully that should be fixed by next week. Darby vs Mortos was a great opener. Sad Skye Blue got injured, I hope she is able to return soon. Also hope they didn't make Lance Archer look like a bad ass backstage, only for him to continue being a jobber in the ring. Always good to see Rey Fenix. FTR returned but not sure how I feel about another match between them and the Bucks at All In. However, the tag division is pretty weak right now. Roddy vs Ishii was another solid TV match. Hologram was OK but not sure AEW needs another high flyer, especially with Ricochet rumoured to be coming in. Enjoyed Purrazzo vs Thunder Rosa too and happy to see the women's division get more TV time. The Trios title match was good also, even if the booking leading to it wasn't the best. I assume they've separated the titles again since they decided to put more effort into RoH? Christian is one of the best heels in the business and seeing him with all 3 titles at the end was great. Seems likely they'll run it back in some form, maybe at Wembley. Overall, enjoyed the show despite a few issues."

This show had a great opener with Darby & Beast Mortos, rock solid bout w/Fenix vs Nese, splendid hard hitting affair w/Roddy & Ishii, very good debut for Hologram w/Gringo Loco being the perfect debut opponent for him, fine Lumberjack match w/Rosa & Deonna and finally a fun trios main event between The Patriarchy & Bang Bang Gang. Good wrestling up and down the card along w/the decent promo work from Darby & FTR to build up Blood & Guts as well as All In. I enjoyed this one a lot"

[9.0] "Thought this episode of Collision was a nice surprise. Sure, the card looked promising but the venue atmosphere really added to the show. Darby vs Mortos was a classic big guy vs Darby match that really peaks when Allin takes insane bumps. The Hologram debut was very effective and was a showcase of his athletic ability. The main event created a new direction for the trios division which was much needed. The only downside was the Skye Blue injury and I hope she is okay."

[8.0] "I like this e-sport setup, smaller but sounds better with a hot crowd. Very good weekly show to hype Blood & Guts, Death Before Dishonor and of course All in. A great debut match in Hologram, that guy is an exciting luchador who will put some bangers spotfests in AEW, kinda like Vikingo and Komander. 2 very good fast paced matches with Fénix vs Tony Nese and Beast Mortos vs Darby Allin, who then cut a great promo in the ring. Rosa vs Deonna was good, seems like the feud ain't over yet and that's fine. The main event for the trio titles is what we need more on Collision, I'll be ok if these belts are being defended every week! Good to see Patriarchy win, Juice Robinson was fantastic tho. Bummed for Skye Blue being injured and the match cut short, she's been working hard from the very start and greatly improved on all level, hope it's nothing serious."

I was begging for it to be fixed, but the whole episode was just very hard to watch because of the issues they had. Other than that, this was an enjoyable episode. No amazing must see matches, but some solid action throughout. I'd probably give this a 6 if it weren't for the audio issues. [MOTN: Darby Allin vs. The Beast Mortos]"

I just think it's going to get a up hill battle for him but im excited to see were it goes. I ain't really enjoyed the main event, Happy Darby is back. I thought this was the best collision in months"

Low key a lumberjack match is one of my favorite gimmick matches. Too bad Thunder lost...again. Great ending to the show with Mama Wayne delivering the Trios titles to the Patriarchy!"

I did like the debut of Hologram and his move set would be mega impressive if not for the fact that we already have Fenix, Penta, Gravity, Kommander and Vikingo working for the company regularly."

[7.0] "Collision New theme tune. Saturday Nights Alright is gone, farewell. Darby Vs Mortos: decent match, the best Mortos match Ive seen which admittedly isnt saying a lot. But this was a decent showcase. Got Darby back out there with a bigger guy he could work with. Looks like Mortos legitimately tweaked his knee, but otherwise a solid outing and a good opener. 7/10 Followed by a good Darby Promo. Then a backstage promo with the Acclaimed and it was better. Billy set a better tone and thats the energy the Acclaimed need to keep going forward. Skye Blue vs Hikaru Shida: Shida landed on Skye about 2 minutes into the match on the outside and it appears that Skye has injured her leg. Awful spot, delivered badly and now Skyes injured. That sucks. But Im hoping it was a work to get Shida over as a heel. It went backstage and Lance Archer battered some jobbers, I hope he gets a bigger run and featured more. Followed be Murder Grandpa and Jericho package, and promo. The promo delivered in the learning tree style, putting his match over the main event. Its a real shame that this match is even on that card. Perhaps this will be enough to keep Jericho of the All In card, but I highly doubt it. Rey Fenix vs Tony Nese: the crowd were rabid for this one. Lots of interruptions by the Premier Athletes. Some good sequences and lots to enjoy. A few minor missteps but largely an enjoyable match. Good to see Rey get a proper match, and Tony get a run out. 6.5/10 FTR promo, muted crowd reaction which is a shame. They are a still the best team in the world. A promo segment with Tony in ring. The started by putting Billington over which was great. Weirdly, Cash talked about his nightmare out of ring problems, he looks jacked. The promo set out their run to Wembley to fight the young bucks. Im the longer the promo went on, the more the crowd got into it. Its very telling that the only viable team is FTR. Im guessing the Bucks want their win back as well. Shida promo, heel work. Set up a match with Britt Baker which if Im honest, I have serious reservations about. Roderick Strong vs Tomohiro Ishii: roddy comes out looking upset, hope hes ok. When this match started with a seemingly endless chip fight, I must admit I had a terrible feeling about this match. I was completely off. This match was really good. I admittedly have a very small viewing sample of Ishii, but this is easily the best match I have seen him in. Lots of solid offensive moves delivered really well. Roderick Strong is excellent. The match ended with the U.K distraction and a low blow by Roddy, then the knee. The rest of the conglomeration came out and made the save after the bell. Really good match. 7/10 Video package for MJF Ospreay match recap. Hologram vs Gringo Loco: its a shame Hologram is debuting with one of my least favourite wrestlers on the planet. Everything this guy does just looks like the worst version of it youll see that night. Hologram looks really smooth in places, and then hit his finish. Decent debut considering who Hologram was working with, but its early days and hes going to have to go some ways to separate himself from the other 15 odd people who are doing exactly the same moves and routines. 6/10 Kevin Von Erich, Dustin and the Von Erichs backstage. Great to see KVE doing well. Hoping we Have the Von Erich boys signed up and we get to see them develop. They have a great lineage to work with. Mark Briscoe promo. The man is just the best. Every single promo just hits. A relentless hit rate. What a guy. Thunder Rosa vs Deonna Purrazzo Lumberjack: this was really really good. The lumberjacks did their bit well. They traded offence, and Deonna won using a turnbuckle to Rosas head while rhetorical ref was distracted. Nothing to really complain about. 6.5/10 The Bang Bang Gang Vs The Patriarchy: Trios titles on the line. This match was great, nothing but hits all night. Juice Robinson is crazily over and the crowd popped for everything he did. All six put on a professional and well worked performance. The ending was a bit of a mess that being said, Bryce just fell forward and grabbed hold of Christian, so that Nick Waynes mom could spray something into Juices face. Something didnt quite line up right. Christian hit the kill switch, and new champs. Otherwise, the match was brilliant. The lights flickered during the celebrations at the end so Im guessing Patriarchy Vs HOB is the direction of travel and Im here for it. Special shout out to Austin and Colten who have progressed so rapidly and look like an excellent proposition going forward. I would love to see them get a good build and then a run with the Tag Belts. As for the show itself, this was the best Collision weve had in MONTHS. Everything was delivered brilliantly, all the matches were good, all the segments were good, the crowd played their part and remained engaged throughout because they had something to pop for. Recording this separately from the other shows and treating Collision like it matters has made an immediate difference. Only slight criticism was the performance of Schiavone, but this was his best work for a long time. A solid 7/10 show and I enjoyed all of it."

[8.0] "Absolutely nailed the feel I prefer for Collision. Intimate atmosphere, a more sporting presentation, and that "I didn't know I needed this, but now I do" vibe. Who knew I needed a Tony Nese/Ray Fenix match? Now I do. It's always a pleasure to see The Beast Mortos, and I thought he matched up stylistically with Darby very well. Hologram, who was hyped for the appropriate amount of time, is a perfect addition to the lower-midcard showcase slot. Great initial opponent for him. Fun trios match to keep the division moving along. Pity about Skye's injury, even moreso since it seems they had more planned for this match as evidenced by the apparent Shida heel turn. 7.75/10"

[5.0] "The production, the arena, and the hard cam facing the stage made this feel like a TNA/Impact episode. I'm not sure how I feel about that but it did make things feel a little different. The smaller size of the venue probably helped the crowd feel more invested so I don't view that as a negative. From personal experience, I think the best live crowds to be in are closely packed audiences of between 2, 000 to 6, 000 people. Going above that, especially over say 15, 000, you start to get a "Loneliness in numbers" effect in which fans feel like islands in their sections instead of feeling like they're part of one big whole. The biggest problem for this episode is that the matches feel inconsequential, which is a Collison staple at this point. Much of it still feels like wrestling for wrestling's sake outside of perhaps the top two matches, though the opener was 100% a "Wouldn't it be cool just to see these two wrestler for the sake of it? " kind of match which actually was pretty cool to watch just for the sake of it. Hologram's showcase debut was also fine, and having Gringo Loco - a guy who knows that style well but doesn't look like he'd be an obvious dance partner - was a good move. The rest wasn't so interesting and would have felt at home on Rampage. On top of that, you also get Skye Blue getting injured and some awkwardness around declaring Shida the winner which ate up a little more time than needed. I'm not a fan of roster splits in general but if Tony Khan was to announce that he's sectioning off some of the roster and putting Scotty Beefcake D'Amore in charge of them while he focusses on Dynamite and the main event scene of Collision, I wouldn't be upset. Collision, especially with episodes like this, needs more (compelling) midcard stories."

[7.0] "Pretty solid episode, and I do actually like the setup for the residency. That said, there were some notable teething issues with the production - most notably in the sound department - that really did detract. Whilst a step-up from the previous week's episode, Collision as of late is still suffering from a noticeable lack of star power, now some of the more recent Collision mainstays are either on Dynamite in headline feuds or off TV altogether for storyline reasons, although having Allin, Cage, FTR and Strong on an episode means we're not completely bereft of star talent by any means."

[6.0] "Pretty solid episode of Collision. Not a huge fan of the new theme song but it will likely grow on me over time. It sucks when AEW is having such trouble selling Collision tickets that they had to decide to move the show to this same set up for the summer months but it is probably a good thing because it helps to give Collision a little bit of a different identity than Dynamite. The only complaints besides the theme song being changed is the production seemed very piss poor on Collision tonight. It is a major step down from the production work that is done on Wednesday nights for Dynamite and almost makes the company look a little bush league. The audio sounded terrible and the crowd didn't sound too good in the stadium likely down to audio problems and not the buildings aesthetics. Anyways, AEW seems to be making some moves that are going to help them savesome money by moving Collision to the Esports Stadium for the summer and getting rid of the probably expensive Elton John song. However, if you didn't plan on paying for it going forward it probably shouldnt have ever even been the theme to begin with. I miss when Collision had it's own different type of opening where they did those quick promos in the style of an old 1980s territory or something. It was something that helped make Collision look a little bit differently than Dynamite. That quickly changed and the show has a lot of weeks been like 2 more hours of AEW Rampage every week with a lot of matches that have no rhyme or reason (for the most part) and major storylines areny really being continued on this show. It doesn't make sense to me. I still think Collision needs to have its own roster and titles to help make use of the over bloated roster and over bloaded title belt collection but we all know that Tony Khan isnt gonna do anything that isn't "his style" or "his vision" and he has been against a roster split since the beginning so we know that ain't even going to happen. Oh well."

[8.0] "Enjoyed every match on this episode. If I had to choose, then surprisingly my least favourite was the Ishii-Strong match and I don't mean that in the negative; it more about how much I enjoyed the fun heel antics in the Fenix-Nese, Lumberjack and Trios matches. Love to see more of Mortos, and also this version of the Premier Athletes; both they and Mortos always put on a decent show and probably should start getting some wins to capitalise on crowd reactions. Love Mark Briscoe, but they may want to be careful not to kill the goose with the golden egg when it comes to his promos. Have to say though, not overly a fan of the way they presented the venue, it did make AEW look a bit small-time. To give the impression of background crowd instead of darkness, I would bring in raked seats/bleachers for the back rows at ringside and a bit more lighting to have them show up on camera pans. Otherwise, enjoyed the show and maybe it's time for some more mid-card angles to show up on Collision?"
kanyegriddy wrote on 22.07.2024:
"Honestly one of the more enjoyable Collisions in recent memory, especially with last week's mediocre episodes fresh in my mind. The arena and group of wrestlers they're keeping in Texas for the time being immediately gives it more of an identity, something the show's been struggling to find. Darby vs Mortos was great as expected. Skye's accident was unfortunate, but genuinely just some bizarre bad luck, and Shida's promo later was one of the best she's done and got me interested in what might be her darker side coming out. Rey Fenix vs Tony Nese was great; Nese got his usual cheap heat and was great as expected in the ring, and the interference didn't feel too bad since it was mostly reserved to outside the ring. I missed a little bit of Roddy vs Ishii but it was fun from what I saw, both consistent performers. I'm definitely not invested in Thunder Rosa/Purrazzo's rivalry, but the lumberjack match was fun and refreshing even if the in-ring wasn't the best. Hologram's debut was clearly meant to be a quick exhibition to show him off, which it did well enough. Solid main event even if my boys lost, I'm hoping Christian's great promos/story angles can bring some more attention to the trios belts."

[6.0] "Very overwhelming episode. Mortos/Allin and Strong/Ishii were fun matches; I recommend watching those. Fenix/Nese could have been a bit better if it didn't go over 10 minutes with constant interferences. Even the repackaged Premier Athletes still lack heat besides Sterling. Nese's promo was generic af. Shida/Blue ended in an unfortunate disaster. Hologram, so far, looks like AEW's version of Axiom (minus being less flashy), and that is alright in itself, though being an attractive luchadore in-ring, I didn't get what's the catch there either. Imho, Hologram is not a good name to begin with. Why not just leave him as Aramis instead? The lumberjack match was a complete clusterfuck. First of all, why do we have this match after 2 Purazzo wins? Then, why does this match only further the ROH feuds? Taya and Purazzo have a history for sure, though it was not quite mentioned. Purazzo picking up a cheap 3rd victory is as uninspired as it could ever be, though it's also my preferred outcome as Rosa picking up a W would have achieved nothing; she still leaves the match as a fan favorite. As for Purazzo, I can only hope 3 victories over Rosa would mean anything substantial. The main event was good until that stupid finish that killed the entire showdown for me. The fuck was Remsburg doing? I doubt they would ever address this. It being a match for a vacant title and BCG assumingly going face does not stick with me as well. The audio was all over the place with lots of echoing, and the light flickers were hilarious. I don't vibe with the new theme, but the new stage is alright. I can only wish they didn't look like their 2019 amateur days. Long story short: 2 good matches and that's it. The rest are unacceptable as of 2024's AEW standards."

Also I'd like to say how much the aesthetic of Esports Stadium looks fantastic, immaculate vibes. Darby vs. Beast Mortos was the best match of the night. Really fun bout. Shida vs. Blue could've been a really good but it's a shame Skye got hurt like 2 minutes into the match. Hope she's alright. Fenix vs. Nese was a fine match. Strong vs. Ishii was a really good match although I was expecting a bit more from these two. Hologram made his debut against Gringo Loco and he looked good. Purrazzo vs. Rosa was really good for the standards of the lumberjack stipulation. Deonna is proving to be one of the best signings of 2024. BBG vs. Patriarchy was a really good main event. Happy to see Christian with gold around his waist again. Overall: all the matches delivered, outside of Shida vs. Blue due to Skye's injury, and the two hours really flown by."

And while not every match was a hitter, there was a lot of fun to be had with most of the matches here. This new set that theyre using for their stay in this Esports arena also looks really good. If they can keep putting on shows like this, with cards full of fun matches and an invested crowd, I can see Collision making somewhat of a resurgence during this run of shows. MOTN - Darby v The Beast Mortos."

Outside of the rather sad injury to Skye Blue I thought tonights show was a very good B show, my only issue is the return to FTR vs Bucks AGAIN but thats not Collision's fault thats more of an overall booking issue, the tag division in AEW needs some serious rehab ASAP."

Hope Skye Blue is ok, and gheez when will Thunder Rosa ever get a break? Darby Allin vs The Beast Mortos: A fun match to get this episode of Collision started, both delivered what they needed to, Allin got momentum ahead of competing in the Blood and Guts match [***1/2]. Hikaru Shida vs Skye Blue: A match that had to end early due to the injury suffered by Blue, of which I hope aint serious [*]. Rey Fenix vs Tony Nese: A fairly fun match but the interferences from The Premier Athletes did spoil things unfortunately, both however did put on a strong showing and Fenix winning was the right decision [***1/4]. Roderick Strong vs Tomohiro Ishii: For the most part this match was enjoyable to watch, from the chops at the start to the physical showings throughout, Ishii proved to be a challenge for Strong even if Ishii did not win, The Undisputed Kingdom coming down for the distraction to allow Strong to hit a low blow on Ishii for the win did spoil things [***]. Hologram vs Gringo Loco: A fun but short match that Hologram showed a great first showing from what we did get to see, Loco made an ideal first opponent for Hologram [*3/4]. Deonna Purrazzo vs Thunder Rosa: The lumberjack stipulation was the ideal stipulation for this match as they have had a chaotic feud, Purrazzo showed why she is great addition to the AEW Women's division with a decent win here against a former champion in AEW in Rosa [***3/4]. Christian Cage, Killswitch & Nick Wayne vs Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn & Juice Robinson: This match was better than I expected it to be, all six had their moment to shine, The Patriarchy winning was good to see, the action was solid throughout, wish they had longer timewise though would have made it more better [***3/4]"

Collision has a different look at the ESports Stadium in Arlington, where the show will be for the next few weeks, hopefully being somewhere consistent will help the show truly differentiate itself from Dynamite. The one downside unfortunately was Skye Blue injuring her ankle when catching a tope from Hikaru Shida, sometimes these things just happen, and hopefully Blue isn't too badly hurt. I presume Hologram will be featured often during this residency, I'm not sure what exactly makes him stand out from other luchadors, but at least it was nowhere near the worst debut for a luchador I've ever seen. The standouts were Strong vs. Ishii and the main event."

Hologram's debut was solid, I'm excited to see him wrestle dudes like Ospreay, Fenix, and Ricochet when he eventually joins AEW. The trios main event was solid, as well. The low point of the show, I would say, was Shida vs Skye, but that was really only because of the unfortunate injury Skye sustained."
