[9.0] "It was very good event.The main event was awesome as i expected with ZSJ wins the G1 for first time.It's interesting the decision to have the match for the title isn't at the Wrestle Kingdom but before.Tag matches was good and with build for future title matches.I think YOSHI-HASHI vs Finlay and Hiromu vs HENARE will be real good matches.The build up of Naito vs GOK and DOUKI vs Ishimori also continues.Also the story of ELP is interesting to join or not House of Torture."

[8.0] "A incredible final between Tsuji and Zack, while the rest of the show was just there, I just came here for the G1 and the G1 Final delivered"

[6.0] "Of course, the undercard was too long but at least the main-event was great while not being an all-timer. There are still one or two decent tags here but overall few stories were developed and it was mostly just a filler to don't have a one match show. ***"

[5.0] "This was a one-match show (the main event). That match was pretty good, just not enough to make up for the almost completely run of the mill undercard. If you're skipping through, the most important happenings in the undercard (none being must-see) are likely in War Dogs vs Bishamon and Honma, and the ten man tag. Just be warned that the latter is a bit of a melodrama overload match. The average match on this card isn't terrible but this show would be painfully average for its length without the G1 final to look forward to. Maybe I'm being slightly too hard. It at least wasn't boring and the general pacing of the card was pretty good, but one big happening/debut/angle or whatever on the undercard would have made the card before the main event feel less like a Road To show. This doesn't feel as big as it should. It feels like a card sold entirely on the main event."

[7.0] "Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Ryusuke Taguchi & Satoshi Kojima vs Shoma Kato, Tiger Mask & Yuji Nagata: A nostalgic match featuring the dads of NJPW and young lions in Kato, the match did what it needed to do [**]. Taichi vs Katsuya Murashima: Murashima got a couple of moves in that was surprising to see, Taichi hitting the backdrop driver looked brutal [**1/4]. Mikey Nicholls & Robbie Eagles vs Francesco Akira & Konosuke Takeshita: One of the better undercard tag matches of the tournament series, Eagles and Akira have great chemistry and hoping they have a singles match down the road, Takeshita and Nicholls did their parts well [***1/2]. Clark Connors, Drilla Moloney & Taiji Ishimori vs DOUKI, SANADA & TAKA Michinoku: A house show standard multi man match, nothing memorable happened here [**]. Hirooki Goto, Tomoaki Honma & YOSHI-HASHI vs David Finlay, Gabe Kidd & Jake Lee: An alright match with a surprise ending when YH pinned Finlay, the action was okay to be honest [**1/4]. EVIL, Ren Narita, SHO, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Yujiro Takahashi vs Boltin Oleg, El Phantasmo, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shota Umino & Toru Yano: A boring match that did not have anything interesting happen in this one, HoT tactics were used and HoT winning was not surprising [*]. BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito vs Callum Newman, Great O-Khan, HENARE & Jeff Cobb: A decent worked multi man match with a surprise ending when Hiromu pinned HENARE, the action in itself was alright, Naito looked a bit slow to be fair [**1/4]. Zack Sabre Jr vs Yota Tsuji: One of the best singles matches of Tsuji I have seen, ZSJ winning the G1 was great to see, the match was awesome, either could have won at any moment it was that close, the crowd was into this one and a potential and should be MOTY [*****]"

[6.0] "In all honesty, I'm probably overrating this a little compared to the ratio of filler tag matches to actual important matches with story consequences on top of me not being as high on the main event as others, however, I'm ecstatic that my favourite wrestler in New Japan and possibly the world right now won the G1, so I don't mind bumping up the rating a notch. [MOTN: Yota Tsuji vs. Zack Sabre Jr.]"

[5.0] "This was a card full of tag team matches so I didn't expect to watch anything special other than the main event. The final was really good and I am so happy that ZSJ won, the Takeshita and LIJ matches were fine but the rest of the card was just average to bad matches."

"Kind of feel that the the semifinal matches and final match should happen on the same night otherwise you have an entire card of pointless matches leading up to the one match that everyone wants to watch. You now like start the show with the semi finals matches then but all the undercard matches on to give the wins a chance to rest before the finals match"

[6.0] "Eh. Apart from the final and the Eagles/Haste undercard tag everything here was fine. I understand these shows are largely built around the final though"

[7.0] "This was all about the main event, and whilst it didn't hit the heights of some past G1 finals, it was a great match that set up two major stars for the future and should be considered a massive success. The undercard was mostly just fine and nothing standout in terms of matches or angles."

[9.0] "A very fun show where the crowd was engaged throughout the whole thing! I was expecting a little bit more story development on the undercard but they set up some nice title defenses in all the tag matches and El Phantasmos story has been really nice to follow. Hes not playing a dumb character and its cool to see. Hes just depressed. I feel that, ELP I feel that. Hoping TAKESHITA one day signs with NJPW full time because he feels right at home. United Empire looks incredibly solid right now as a unit. YOSHI-HASHI vs Finlay is not a match I ever anticipated to see for a major title but I feel like those two will have an underrated banger for the GHC that people will mock before it actually happens. HENARE vs Hiromu should be great and GOK vs Naito was something I thought we were getting at King of Pro-Wrestling in October until a certain Front Man made a shocking announcement (the KOPW champion challenging for the IWGP at KOPW made sense to me). ZSJ won the big one and with the Royal Quest IV announcement makes it feel like he is actually bringing the world title home. I love the change in dynamic for Wrestle Kingdom after its become too predictable on how the second half of the year plays out in NJPW. Will Naito retain and walk into WK as champion? Will Zack win and defend it at WK and Wrestle Dynasty? A part of me wonders if Naito retires at Wrestle Kingdom 19 as the main event while Zack defends the title against someone like Shingo Takagi. Naito vs Tsuji in a passing of the torch match (pretty sure Tsuji vs 0-2 against him) and Shingo vs Zack right before it would feel like pretty big matches. Very excited to see how this all plays out!"

"A nice event to close this year's climax, with a much more enjoyable format than the previous two years. The matches were decent, nothing baffling or special outside of the final. Now, even though the Tsuji vs ZSJ match was pretty nice, I must say I preferred both semi-final matches; the atmosphere in the arena however, the crowd's enthusiasm really made this match. Both guys are over with the Japanese fans and they wouldn't have been disappointed if either guy had won. Although I was kind of mad seeing they gave the tournament to Zack, who is a massive downgrade compared to former top foreigners like Ospreay and Omega in terms of star power, I must come back to reality and admit the hard truth: nobody else was built well enough to win the Climax this year. The Musketeers haven't accomplished much, outside of Tsuji's NJ Cup win which was quickly forgotten after his failed title shot, therefore none of them are ready yet. Finlay won't get over portraying something he's not. SANADA hasn't been booked very convincingly this past year. The company failed to find someone to fill Naito's place at the very top, and it's becoming more of an issue as the poor guy's body is crumbling. When I looked at this G1 I quickly figured there was a real lack of stars, especially in the B block. Not so long ago this company had some larger than life characters, now New Japan really feels empty. Things look very bleak ahead of Wrestle Kingdom, and if you think Zack is the providential guy, he's not. They have so much faith in him they made him use his title shot three months early. He most likely won't enter WK as champion and definetely won't exit as such, but I doubt they can build someone credible enough within the end of the year."

[9.0] "A great way to close out the G1 Climax 34 with a clinic between British Strong Style and Lucha/Strong style hybrid. I was shocked that Zack went all the way and took the tournament. Now we have a rather interesting development, not only is ZSJ the first Brit to win the tournament but also he's choosing NOT to wait until Wrestle Kingdom to use his tournament win. I wonder if this choice will come back to bite him or not. Guess we'll have to wait and see but then again you never know how it will play out"
