[6.0] "This show was decent. Nothing standout going on, but a couple of really good matches and a lot of otherwise decent matches outside of the EVIL bout. [MOTN: Hirooki Goto vs. Yuya Uemura]"

[7.0] "Ist alles okay? Please tell me I'm not insane and Red Shoes did indeed ask this question. Tsuji vs. Finlay was most likely supposed to be this year's New Japan Cup final, so it was nice to see both guys getting the main event slot here. Naito's so much more enjoyable if he doesn't have to close the show anyway. My MOTN was probably Goto vs. Uemura, but I liked pretty much everything. I also love that Meltzer apparently only awarded a single star to EVIL vs. Jake Lee, because I thought that match was super entertaining."

[9.0] "This was an excellent night of G1 competition. With the exception of a shoddy match (and even worse booking) in Lee vs Evil, then a skippable opener in Newman vs Sanada, everything else on the card is damn worth a watch! My favourite match of the evening was an inspired sprint showing off many different aspects of wrestling in Kidd vs O-Khan. The top 4 matches are all also excellent, really making this feel like a night of classic G1 action, with everyone giving everything to win and get their points! Really good stuff, this is how I want G1 nights to feel!"

[8.0] "1. Goto vs Uemura 2. Naito vs ZSJ 3. Finlay vs Tsuji 4. Shingo vs Shota 5. ELP vs Narita 6. EVIL vs Jake Lee 7. HENARE vs Oleg 8. Kidd vs O'Khan 9. Newman vs SANADA Another solid night of G1 action. The main four matches all delivered tremendously, with the undercard being solid at worst, and very entertaining at best. Tsuji is proving himself as a future world champion, ELP's continued fragility is getting the crowds behind him majorly, Uemura is figuring it all out in real time and evolving into the wrestler we've all hoped he can be, Naito and ZSJ had an excellent match and set up interesting progressions for both men through the post match, Umino looked a lot better than he did against Newman the day before (although still not quite main event material in my opinion) and I remain convinced that Oleg is going to be a superstar once he's less green. Newman still looked weak, I am not entirely sure if I enjoy repeated exposure to Gabe Kidd's aggressive English lad persona, and no match has been a match of the year contender at this early stage of the tournament, but I've enjoyed myself massively."

[6.0] "Show was bit better than night 1, especially thanks to ELPs continued story through the tournament, Shingo vs. Umino being great and a better Tetsuya Naito match. Overall still a lot of potential left to being fulfilled, the groups and their participants are not that bad. I feel like most people involved don't want to already go all crazy from day 1 and rather save their energy."

[8.0] "SANADA vs Callum Newman: Newman had great pacing but did have some issues executing some moves, SANADA did not do anything memorable excepting picking up an unsurpising win [**1/2]. HENARE vs Boltin Oleg: HENARE brought the intensity to counter the offense of Oleg, this was a decent power for power match between two big wrestlers, which at times was crazy [***1/4]. Gabe Kidd vs Great O-Khan: This match was okay, they did complement each other with their abilities however the action on the outside did take quite a bit of time [**1/2]. Ren Narita vs El Phantasmo: ELP did oversell his leg following the failed moonsault to the outside of the ring, Narita had one of his best tournament matches to date, ELP countered the finishing move (double cross) of Ren Narita in a memorable way which was surprising to see [***]. EVIL vs Jake Lee: This was not a good match, typical HoT bullshit again, with Dick Togo getting involved and the action was not that good and sloppy at times [*]. Yuya Uemura vs Hirooki Goto: Uemura gets another win in the G1 Climax 34, on par with his match with David Finlay yesterday, Goto had a solid showing which was good to see [***1/4]. Shota Umino vs Shingo Takagi: Surprised me with how good this match was, they had a great showing considering that Umino is the young wrestler and Takagi is the more experienced wrestler, the ending Death Rider was botched however, Umino getting the win was surprising though [****1/4]. Zack Sabre Jr vs Tetsuya Naito: This was at times showcasing technical wrestling which was good to see, I would say on par with their 2023 G1 Climax 33 match, they did have a good match which was fairly enjoyable [****]. Yota Tsuji vs David Finlay: This was better than their Wrestling Dontaku 2024 match, Tsuji despite not having as much experience as Finlay showed he can actually beat him for the 3 count, though it did seem at times that Finlay was gonna win it, but Tsuji perservered to win in a surprising result [****1/2]"

[6.0] "Unfortunately the last two matches of the last show were better than any match here but yesterday it was a really stacked card so I get it. Last three matches anyway were really enjoyable and saved the show. Personal MOTN was the Umino vs Takagi match. ***1/4"

[5.0] "My first tactical skip of the tournament (Goto vs Yuya) and I regret it. I think I was influenced by EVIL and Jake Lee being the G1 lowlight so far. No barnburners here, and no standout performances, but Shingo and Finlay did good work."

[6.0] "Day 2 was weaker but it was still watchable. Match of the Night was the Main Event. Detailed ratings in the guides. SANADA vs. Newman: ***1/4 HENARE vs. Boltin: ***1/4 Kidd vs. O-Khan: ***1/4 Narita vs. Phantasmo: ***1/4 EVIL vs. Lee: ***1/4 Goto vs. Uemura: ***1/4 Takagi vs. Umino: ***1/2 Naito vs. Sabre Jr.: ***3/4 (Naito losing again...) Finlay vs. Tsuji: ***3/4 (MotN)"

[8.0] "Huge improvement over Day 1, with three great matches (Kidd vs O-Khan, ELP vs Narita, ZSJ vs Naito) and every other match being good. The only average match was the opener between SANADA and Newman. If they repeat this, this will be a great G1. Thumbs up from me."

[7.0] "Good Day 2 for the G1 Climax, in my opinion this was better than last night, it may not had been a match in the level of Takeshita vs Tsuji, but most of the matches were solid and the event was way more consistent. Last three matches had a great level, and I think Narita vs El Phantasmo will be one of the hidden bangers of the tournament, that was a great match. It had some weaker matches, but in comparison to the Day 1, even the bad ones had more positive things than the last night bad ones. I'm enjoying this edition so far."
