22 | 27.12.2024 | celticinvader | 6.0 | Overall probably the weakest Forbidden Door up to this point but with a fair few really great matches. Both women's matches were great, as was the main event and the Danielson/Tagaki match which were always gonna deliver. It's really mainly the multi man matches that let this down big time for me with Jericho being useless and the Elite in their worst storyline to date. And that Mox/Naito match was TERRIBLE. Other than that, decent. |
23 | 20.12.2024 | TH0810 | 8.0 | Aside from a few matches, especially the Mox vs Naito match which honestly broke my heart because I love them both a lot, this show was great. Great matches along with an absolutely spectacular main event match. Witnessing Bryan & Shingo was special and they delivered an amazing match as well. ZSJ and OC killed it too. Also got introduced to Stephanie Vaquer for the first time on this show, and while I feel that their match could've been a little better, considering their communication barriers, it was great. Loved this show a lot. The main event was truly spectacular, with Swerve and Ospreay proving why they are above and beyond the two best wrestlers of the year, a classic main event. MJF/Hechichero - **3/4, Elite/Tana-Acclaimed - ***, Bryan/Shingo - ****1/2, Toni/Mira - ***1/2, ZSJ/OC - ****1/2, Ladder - ****, Mercedes/Stephanie - ****, Mox/Naito - **, Swerve/Ospreay - *****. |
24 | 16.12.2024 | brooksavage2004 | 9.0 | Moxley Vs Naito was bad, the Learning Tree six man tag, Elite Vs Tanahashi and Acclaimed and MJF Vs Hechicero are matches that just happened and this show overall shows just how less than stellar the Forbidden Door PPV concept and NJPW has become, but Danielson Vs Shingo, the AEW TNT title ladder match and Mone Vs Vaquer were all real fantastic, ZSJ Vs Cassidy was brilliant and Swerve Vs Ospreay was absolutely phenomenal. Overall AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door (2024) maybe the weakest of the Forbidden Door PPV events so far, but it's still such a fantastic show. |

32 | 17.11.2024 | Willie 19200 | 8.0 | this was a very fun and solid show overall. The majority of these matches were great but the tag matches and Naito vs Mox were average to downright terrible. Only one bad match, a few average ones, and then the rest of the matches were really good. ZSJ and Orange take the match of the night for me but Ospreay vs Swerve was still amazing. Both women's matches were awesome. Danielson vs Takagi was amazing, and That ladder match was very fun. Overall a very enjoyable show, however probably their weakest this year. |

34 | 07.11.2024 | Will Morris | 8.0 | overall i think the show reached expectations, the main event and the Danielson match were as excellent as anticipated, the ladder match was even more crazy than i thought it would be. dr britt return is great, i expect it will be ceo vs dmd at all in now and i can't wait for that. zsj vs oc was also great however the tag matches and naito vs mox match were a low point. the title match especially was very hard watching but this was the only "bad" match of the show |

42 | 01.10.2024 | JoKu2311 | 7.0 | I was really considering an 8 for this show purely because of the incredible main event and the other really good matches (Danielson v Takagi, ZSJ v Orange etc.). However, unfortunately I do not feel comfortable only picking out the cherries from this event because I am rating it as one full experience and this experience was pretty flawed in many places. First of all, similar to most AEW PPVs, this show was too bloated. I do not need this many matches on a PPV because there will always be some less exciting stuff leading to boredom across the watchtime. While previous AEW PPVs started off well and had big holes in the middle, this one started with two very unnecessary matches that could have easily been thrown on an episode of Dynamite. After that, the show became a lot better with three good matches in a row. Danielson v Takagi was great to the surprise of nobody, Toni and Mina had an interesting match embedded in a decent storyline and ZSJ v Orange Cassidy added another fun match. The six man tag was not my cup of tea, partially because I do not care about this storyline and I absolutely cannot stand Hook, but mainly because this was another match that was just not exciting in the first place. Following that, we had two more decent matches but unfortunately the co-main event was really disappointing. Naito looked super weird and they just did not ever get started in this match. The main event was obviously incredible and match of the night, putting a great cap on this quite mixed bag of good matches paired with a disappointment and some uninteresting fillers that were not needed in the first place. Additionally, the crowd seemed pretty terrible throughout most of the night and might have added major contributions to the missing excitement. All in all, I cannot call the entirety of this event great but it was a show in which the positives outweigh the negatives. |

Despite enjoying some of the midcard matches more than most people seemed to, I ultimately think the poor matches drag this below a nine. Overall a show worth viewing just for the highlights, but probably best enjoyed with a willingness to skip the bad matches. |

59 | 29.08.2024 | JakeR | 6.0 | A few good matches and amazing main event but man this show as a whole just felt mid. Way too many average matches and tag matches with thrown together people to be on the card. Half of the matches really don't feel ppv worthy and more fitting for dynamite. Probably the least forbidden door type forbidden door ppv so far. |

62 | 26.08.2024 | boymeetsworld | 5.0 | This show left me thinking that amongst the wrestlers themselves, 'Forbidden Door' concept is not something that's universally accepted, supported or even liked - four matches on the main show were average or worse, and all of them came across like wrestlers involved either didn't want to be there, tried to get by or totally misread the crowd. Good amount of spots in Mone/Vaquer was surprisingly sloppy and clunky, expectations probably played against them here and they overthought everything they were doing. The Elite vs. Tanahashi/Acclaimed overdelivered though, Tanahashi's presence and charisma are still 1-of-1. Ladder match for TNT title tried to use 'less is more' approach, but not every spot was as good as it could've been, though Takeshita's Blue Thunder Bomb on ELP was one for the ages. ZSJ/Cassidy actually felt like a 'Forbidden Door' match, something that could only happen in that time and place. Danielson/Takagi was awesome, an expertly structured tournament match that gave Shingo a chance to go back to his roots and lean into working heel more. Main Event kind of saved this show, and in a way saved 'Forbidden Door' concept - this felt like a match that both wrestlers would want to show to any pro-wrestling fan, anywhere in the world. |

67 | 20.08.2024 | joshbrady91 | 5.0 | This was a decent event, although I do think it was probably the worst Forbidden Door event we've gotten. The main event was great and I also enjoyed Danielson vs Shingo, those two matches on their own made this worth the free download. I think there were a couple of dud matches here, TV type matchups that we didn't need to see on PPV, such as "The Learning Tree" match, MJF's match, the first women's match was also poor, and damn that IWGP World Heavyweight Title match STUNK! The Elite trios match was nothing special either. The Ladder match had its moments, and I love watching Vaquer, she is awesome. The build for the event was also very poor. |

70 | 15.08.2024 | Lukeathon | 8.0 | NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 on paper looks the weakest of the Forbidden Door cards, 2023 had Okada vs Danielson alongside Ospreay vs Omega and while I understand why this was a bit of a weaker card, AEW being plagued with long-term injuries seems to be the issue. But for what they had I think this was still a very very good show, AEW shows are usually amazing in-ring action but with how many matches they put on across their time spans I usually need to split it across 2 watches, the 2 night PPV System might benefit these shows if they ever went that way. Again I completely get why they have so many matches, their roster is INSANE. Anyways let's begin with MJF vs Hechicero, an.. odd match for MJF to be part of but I digress, it was okay, MJF doesn't look as strong as he did in the ring and I'm wondering if it's ring rust or if he still isn't fully healed, I doubt we see Hechicero on an AEW PPV again. (3/5). The Elite vs The Acclaimed was next, again an odd choice for 3 of your best wrestlers to be facing on such a show but this match was again fine, The Acclaimed could do well in a feud against the Young Bucks (If they ever defend the belts). (2.5/5). Bryan Danielson vs Shingo Takagi was next and this was the first match I was properly invested in, I knew Danielson would win but that's why in my opinion he's the greatest of all time, he makes any match worthy of being a believable battle... a believable battle. Really amazing match as expected and on the border of 5 Stars (4.5). We had Toni Storm vs Mina Shirakawa next, and this storyline has been... something indeed but it was a really good match! The split is 100% coming between Storm and May but Shirakawa was a welcome addition into this storyline. (3.5/5). Zack Sabre Jr. vs Orange Cassady was up next, I've watched Sabre Jr. live and think you need a specific type of opponent that the fans care about for his matches to be good, Orange Cassady was a great choice in this spot. A great match here for Tony Khan's favourite as he continues his streak of having bangers at Forbidden Door. (4.5/5). Samoa Joe, Hook and Shibata vs The Learning Tree and Jeff Cobb was next. I don't care for this Learning Tree Gimmick unless it boosts Bill and Keith in the long run. Jeff Cobb being in this match was random as I had thought he issued an open challenge for his title prior to the event and in my opinion deserves a better spot than tagging with a washed up Chris Jericho. (2/5). TNT Ladder Match was next and like nearly all ladder matches, this was great! The result to this was obvious but sometimes obvious is the best, Jack Perry has really impressed me since returning, Takeshita always shows up and in a ladder match was no different, Dante Martin was a welcome surprise into the match and I'm glad Lio Rush didn't win, I think he is more trouble than he is worth. (4.5/5). Mercedes Mone vs Steph Vaquer was up next and this was a big surprise of a match, I'll admit I knew next to nothing about Vaquer coming into this, I know she's a champion in AAA and that's about as far as it goes, I also know with hindsight that she has signed a mega deal with WWE since this and after watching this match it should be clear why, Mone deserves a lot of credit here too, noticing the harsh reaction from the fans and playing into the role of the heel worked very well for this and made the contest that much better. Again, it was clear to me that Mone would win but the best of the best make these matches believable that they could go either way and both ladies really delivered here. (4.5/5). Naito vs Moxley was next and I'd say this is one of the matches that sold the show for me, unlike Danielson vs Takagi though, this match did NOT deliver at all, 17 minutes that felt like 25, it really just didn't get going, congrats to Naito on winning his belt back. This NJPW World Title Reign for Moxley was a very failed experiment. (2/5). Main event time! Strickland vs Ospreay is a match that at last years Forbidden Door I would have been very excited to see, and while I'm still excited, I think at a show like this, it goes against the main point of the show which is NJPW X AEW, this is a match we could have seen at any other AEW show, I'm impressed with the backstage talk surrounding this match hinting at Ospreay offering to do the job to Strickland to stop internet talk of Swerve being a transitional champion, that's how wrestlers should be and props to him for initiating it, I'm sure Swerve appreciates it as well. The actual match was really really good as expected, Ospreay has been on such a tear since making it to AEW with stellar PPV Match after stellar PPV Match. This is no exception, the finish was unfortunate with Don Callis making his presence known but it doesn't bring it down too much for me, it's another 5 star showing. (5/5). Overall while this card was weaker than the 2 previous years on paper, I think it was still a very enjoyable watch, I might be able to make it to All In again this year and I'm honestly more excited for it this year than last, there's more storylines at play, some of which have taken months of buildup. Some odd choices for matchups like MJF, No Gabe Kidd on the card and Jeff Cobb in a Chris Jericho match. I'd give this a very solid 8/10, if some matches were changed I'd easily change this to a 9 though. The Key to AEW PPV's is to split them into 2 watches for me. |

72 | 11.08.2024 | Okaro143 | 7.0 | Good show. Forbidden Door has lost a lot of its charm. New Japan doesn't have the star power to match AEW anymore especially since AEW has taken its most prolific stars ( Okada and Ospreay). Naito has lost his edge in ring and now its time for younger guys to be given a main event stage in NJPW. Stardom and CMLL doesn't have the exposure that New Japan gets but it was Mirakawa and Vaquer who had the best non AEW reception, in fact both women got cheered harder than their respective opponents. From New Japan side, I would say that Zack continues to deliver in any and every stage he is on and while Shingo and Bryan didn't reach the lofty expectations I had, it was still a very good match that they put together. On a negative point, the the show went on too long and there were a few too many filler matches. Coming to the main event, it was a true spectacle, it was easily the the best match on the Card and one of the best AEW World Championship matches I have seen yet. Hopefully the booking of AEW gets better to keep the crowd invested not just in the main card but also the undercard as well. 7/10 |

78 | 03.08.2024 | SkibidiPunk | 5.0 | Very mid show upon further consideration. Really just worth watching for the main event and a small handful of others. Plus, the builds for this PPV were abymsal, either non-existent or INCREDIBLY one-note. The work here is fine but the lack of storytelling is upsetting |

97 | 18.07.2024 | SpacecadetLondon | 8.0 | Solid show. Not the best of the year for AEW but still a very positive show overall. As always though AEW puts too many matches in the card. It would have been a much better event if they removed 2-3 useless matches, giving more minutes to other matches that really needed it. Please limit the matches on PPV to 7-8 with a PPV duration of maximum 3 hours and a half. It would be much more enjoyable and the audience wouldnt have so many moments of silence. |
