| 1 | 30.03.2024 | DanTalksRasslin | 6.0 | My first time seeing New Fear City - this show came up in my Youtube recommendations - and this was pretty enjoyable overall; certainly moreso than other no-ring shows I've seen. The action was fast but logical, with some actual wrestling holds and psychology on display in addition to the standard brawling you'd expect from this kind of show, incorporated weapons in a way that, again, suited the psychology of the matches and never came off as excessive (and didn't get too terribly gruesome - the spots I cringed from most involved playing cards being used to inflict paper cuts), and this certainly featured some quality talent. It even included some decently entertaining comedy work, especially in the first two matches (Puf vs McMurphy and Denaro vs Dice), followed by more intensity in the second pair of matches (Osborne vs Gotch and Valentine vs Coughlin). The latter set even featured a good dynamic with matchups between more grappling-based competitors in Gotch and Coughlin (who it seems sadly made one of his last appearances as a competitor on this show) against more brawler/deathmatch types in Osborne and Valentine. The hour and a half went by easily and I'd be interested in seeing more from NFC. |
