Natürlich glänzt auch jetzt noch nicht alles an vorhandenem Gold, aber allem Anschein nach versucht man sich fortgehend an einer Umstrukturierung alteingesessener Konzepte und dazu gehörte unmittelbar die Verkleinerung vom Turnier der schlafenden Prinzessin. Nicht aber nur verkleinert wurde, auch erhielten statt gestandener Main Eventer und Time Limit Draw-Garanten nun Midcarder ihren Moment unter der Sonne. Zur glücklichen Riege dieser konnten sich an diesem Nachmittag Ruaka, Xena und Sayaka Kurara zählen, wo in vergangener Zeit einzig Xena realistisch vorangeschritten wäre. Man muss sich wiederum keiner Illusion unterziehen, dass außerhalb ein paar bestimmter Turnierkämpfe ein qualitativer Anstieg bestand: Im Darkside Kid vs. Yuzuki/HANAKO vs. Hanan-Sandwich ging's verhältnismäßig zu, zwischen 3/4* im Fall von Kurara vs. Tora bis *3/4 um den Dreh. Dazwischen anzusiedeln waren Amasaki vs. Yagami, *1/4, und Iida vs. Kashima, *. Aller Kritik zum Trotz aber hat mir die First Round tatsächlich gefallen; das war kein Vergleich zu vergangenen Jahren mit simpler Zuarbeit hin zum Tope Rope, ganz im Gegenteil versuchten sich alle Damen daran einander im Seilgeviert zu eliminieren und brachten somit eine gewisse Dringlichkeit mit sich. Von all diesen gefielen mir aber eingangs erwähnt der Opener und der Closer vom Turnier an diesem Tag am besten, *** bzw. **1/4. Das Niveau vorgaben aber Pre-Show und der Opener, **1/4 bei leicht ansteigender Tendenz bzw. *** im Fall vom Future Titelkampf. Meiner Meinung nach war der Eight Way überfüllt, das Finish in so kurzer Zeit war aber annehmlich und auch Miran's Stardom-Debüt ist darunter zu verbuchen, das war womöglich selbst Hanan Shimai im Alter von damals 14 Jahren voraus. Zurück im jetzigem Zeitalter und ungefähr 60 Minuten später duellierten sich Giulia und Stephanie Vaquer im Rahmen von ihrem Prelude hin zum anstehenden STRONG Women's Titelkampf, *** bei ansteigender Tendenz. Das Match war überraschend angenehm, da Fukigen Death von ihrer üblichen Komik absah und der Prelude durchaus Chemie bewies. Einer solchen ebenfalls unterlag Natsupoi's Comeback Match und der Main Event, ***1/2 bzw. ***1/4 um den Dreh im Fall vom Three Way. Jener war ein netter Rausschmeißer, habe ich als Hauptkampf allerdings fehl am Platz empfunden und stattdessen dem Semi Main Event zugerechnet. In diesem beeindruckten mich vorrangig Chi-Hash und Sareee, nachdem ich diesen zuletzt meist nicht positiv gegenüber gestimmt war und unter jener Voraussetzung ging ich auch in dieses Match. Natsupoi scheint ihrer Verletzung genügend Zeit gegeben zu haben, zumindest fliegt sie gewohnt und ohne Rücksicht durch den Ring. |

| 28 | 11.03.2024 | Rossg17 | 7.0 | 8 Way Match: A fun to watch pre show match, there were a couple of times that the action was chaotic but for a pre show match it was fine [*3/4]. Rina vs Miran: For 2 wrestlers who are 14 and 17 years old respectively, this match was somewhat enjoyable, even though the moves werent all executed perfectly, they opened the event with a good match [***1/4]. Starlight Kid vs Yuzuki: An enjoyable way to get the 2024 Cinderella tournament started, both wrestled a fairly fast paced match, some really close near falls toward the end of the match [***]. Sayaka Kurara vs Natsuko Tora: Tora ambushed Kurara before the bell even rang, the match in itself was underwhelming, the outcome with Kurara winning by DQ should have been booked differently but with Tora was not surprising [*]. Yuna Mizumori vs Lady C: This match was somewhat okay, it could have been better had it been given more time, the ending move looked decent [*1/4]. Xena vs Momo Kohgo: A match that did not even go 4 minutes, Xena looked impressive especially when she got the win [*]. Miyu Amasaki vs Ranna Yagami: Another match that was short, both tried their best with the time they had but could have been better [*]. Ruaka vs Koguma: I did not like this match unfortunately mainly due to the interference that started with Natsuko Tora pulling the referee out the ring midst of a pin and the ending was not great [1/2*]. Saya Iida vs Saki Kashima: A somewhat okay match, Saya Iida getting the win was the right decision [*1/2]. Hanan vs HANAKO: A good first round match, both Hanan and HANAKO gave a physical match and the submission at the end looked brutal [**1/4]. Giulia, Konami & Syuri vs Fukigen Death, Momo Watanabe & Stephanie Vaquer: Very good six woman tag team match, Konami and Momo did their thing, Vaquer and her team should have won to give Vaquer more credibility en route to her title match challenge against champion Giulia, the interactions between Giulia and Vaquer were good to watch [***1/2]. Chihiro Hashimoto & Sareee vs Natsupoi & Saori Anou: All four gave an excellent performance, good to see Hashimoto and Sareee in Stardom, an excellent tag team match, Natsupoi made her return in this match and looked good, the pacing was right throughout [****1/2]. Maika & Mina Shirakawa vs Mayu Iwatani & Tam Nakano vs AZM & Saya Kamatani: While this match was of a decent standard, this should not have been the main event match on a show like this, it should have been in the middle somewhere, the action from all 3 teams was okay [***] |

Negativ für mich allerdings der Großteil der Turniermatches, die aufgrund der Turnierregeln teils viel zu kurz und auch schwachsinnig gebooked waren. Eine Show also mit Licht und Schatten, insgesamt aber doch mehr vom Ersteren. |

Really solid main event too, and Sareee challenges Mayu Iwatani for the IWGP title to close the show on a perfect note. |

The pre-show eight way was fun and fast, nice way to get everyone warmed up for the show (6/10). Rina vs Miran for the Future of Stardom title was good. Miran has a lot of potential and Rina continues to get better (7/10). Starlight Kid vs Yuzuki was the first match of the tournament, and it was the best of the first round. Fast pace, good action. Yuzuki is very good for a rookie (7/10). Kurara vs Natsuko was short and had a dumb DQ finish. Yunamon vs Lady C was okay, nothing special (4/10). Xena vs Kohgo was short and mediocre. Kohgo came back and showed up with new gear just to lose in three minutes, oof. Miyu vs Ranna was a match that certainly happened, again nothing special. Ruaka vs Koguma was decent until the terrible interference spot that made the ref look like an idiot (4/10). Gori vs Saki was fine for how short it was. The last of the Cinderella matches was Hanan vs Hanako, ending a long streak of mediocrity to deliver something worth watching (6/10). The six woman tag was a filler match that belonged on a house show, but it was still pretty good and entertaining enough (6.5/10). The tag team match featuring Poi's return and Sareee's first Stardom match was by far the best of the show (8/10). The three way tag team main event had zero reason to be the main event. Nothing was at stake and the match played out with everybody just hitting moves because there was no story or anything to care about (5/10). Only after the last match did anything important happen, with Sareee coming out to challenge Mayu for the IWGP Women's Championship. Finally these two will have a match after the first time they tried ended in a debacle. This show was a mixed bag. The first two matches were enjoyable. Most of the Cinderella tournament matches were nothing special, though on the flip side it was a welcome sight that there weren't any time limit draws. The main event was house show tier and not that good, hopefully they can learn from this to have better, more meaningful main events. Overall, Cinderella Tournament Opening Day was a fine show with some good to build on and some bad to improve. 6/10 |
