[10.0] "I rarely rate entire shows, it's just not something I'm used to doing as opposed to rating matches. But this show was something incredibly special, and a nice reward for CMLL after the great work they've been doing over the past year or so. Both singles matches were very good showcases. The women's match was quality, although I blinked and missed the second fall. The Torneo match was a ton of fun and featured one of the best cheating finishes I've ever seen. And then the main event. That main event, with one of the hottest crowds you will ever see, was a sight to behold. An Match of the Year level match worldwide, let alone in the world of lucha. My favorite kind of wrestling, the red-hot, all-star, multi-man tag, complete with a little substory of the AEW referee being biased towards his guys. The finish was great too, with the AEW side not understanding the Captain's Fall rules and the CMLL side jumping on the chance to clear the ring and get the fall on Sydal. If you're looking for a pathway into lucha, I can't think of a better start point than this show."

[9.0] "Fantastic, still the best show of the year for me. The AEW/CMLL main event was very good and I think CMLL books the more interesting matches in this relationship. The one weak point was the minis, and the only thing that keeps me from giving this event a perfect 10. That being said, I think their current match rating is a bit harsh, and I am a fan of the minis division in general. The biggest problem for that apuestas was the build was poor in the weeks leading up to the show. Willow looked great and she is slowly becoming my favorite American wrestler. I'd love to see her in Arena Mexico again. Against who, I'm not so sure, but she would be a welcome guest to any show. Barbaro Cavernario/Averno was awesome as expected from two guys of that caliber. EL Torneo Increible de Parejas had the perfect teams in the final, Rocky/Dorada and Atlantis Jr/Soberano Jr are great. The main event is one of my favorite matches of the year and I hope CMLL can bring something similar to this for the International Gran Prix coming up in August."

[5.0] "I heard this touted as a Show of the Year contender, so I gave it a go, and concluded it's in fact not that, at least if you're not someone who loves the lucha style and is willing to accept the mixing in of the AEW style alongside it. For me, it was instead just a very mediocre show with a handful of decent matches and only the main-event being something somewhat worth going out of your way for. That's mostly because neither current CMLL or AEW does a great amount for me, and I felt neither company gave the best representation of themselves relative to what I personally prefer from the both of them. Magnus & Rugido vs Brillante & Neon was a fine opener. It was clearly cooperative when it came to their more flashy stuff, and pretty dull when it came to their more basic interactions, but at least they had some pretty impressive athletic displays and a handful of really cool spots. **1/2. Esfinge vs Zandokan was building up to be pretty fun but got fumbled at the very end and felt rushed. They had good action almost in whole way, with Zandokan in control for the 1st half and impressing with his power moves on top of his actually rather sparse aerial attacks. Unfortunately, Zandokan looked quite cooperative as Esfinge staged a comeback, but at least Esfinge's own offence looked good in isolation. They picked back up the drama with some convincing near fall trades, but then Esfinge got the win off of an underwhelming big counter and his match-winning pin feeling quite anticlimactic. ***. Cavernario vs Averno was a nice change of pace, since it was nowhere near as generically 'flashy' as the previous matches or what you imagine when you think of a modern lucha match. Instead we had two somewhat charismatic guys -- Cavernario the endearingly goofy babyface, Averno the grimy heel -- going through straightforward, well-executed power moves and strikes, with it then feeling significant whenever they indeed brought out their flashier and more agile traditional lucha spots. It also helped that they never went a million miles an hour, so their spots had time to sink in and thus another reason to feel significant. They still never did anything super impressive, but it was a very solid performance. ***. The 4-way mask-vs-mask match was weak. The booking made 0 sense, since there's literally no justification for the high risk of eliminating the first 2 guys so that only with the final 2 does the match finally become mask-vs-mask. Literally high risk and relatively low reward, given none of these guys are stars for the 'scalp' of de-masking them to mean anything. Even by modern lucha standards it was pretty over-choreographed with their high spots, and clear sloppiness came out the longer the match went on. A handful of spots looked okay, but most of the fundamentals here looked pretty weak. **1/4. The 6-woman tag was pretty mediocre. Vaquer, Tessa, and Zeuxis were the ones that impressed me, since they all looked quite energetic, intense, and slick with their work, whereas Catalina and Lluvia weren't that good, and Willow was typically underwhelming with her weak strikes and unconvincing 'monster' offence. A lot of the big attacks here didn't look that good, even those that came from the better-skilled wrestlers, and the same applied with the multi-woman spots. The 3 aforementioned good talents were enough to keep this together, but this was otherwise kinda sloppy and just plain underwhelming. **1/2. Atlantis & Soberano vs Dorada & Rocky was decent. I enjoyed the "can they coexist" story coming out with the mixing of teams made up of 1 heel and 1 face each, which made for some entertaining moments of alliances, tension, and betrayals. Aside from that, however, this was a pretty typically 50/50 match with bomb trades and lucha spots, which were athletically very impressive but didn't have much 'meat' to them because of how mindlessly they came and went. If they had that interesting story of the odd couple pairing and fit that to a more compelling structure, then this could've been pretty good. Either that or if all 4 guys really went further with making their mindless trades and high spots more memorable. ***. The CMLL-vs-BCC 8-man tag was quite good and clearly MOTN. It was nothing crazy like the people desperate for a CMLL/AEW cross-over touted, but it was mindless fun all the same. Everyone got to cycle in and show off their stuff, and while most impressed to varying degrees like Danielson, Mistico, Volador, Claudio, and Sydal, others like Panther and Guerrero didn't feel convincing given the caliber of their opponents and their own advances ages, and Moxley was just doing weird Moxley-style things that likewise didn't fit. The booking with Sydal of all people as BCC's captain made no sense, as did the inclusion of elimination rules only to barely use them and only to a very tiny extent at the very end, but then this match was never about the story, it was just about seeing a mixture of styles for the sake of action, and it mostly succeeded in that regard. It still sucks that matches like this, with so much pure athletic talent, can't be utilised for more compelling stories. ***1/4"

[7.0] "The vast majority of the matches on this card are overrated, with the main event being the exception. The crowd made the whole show, with the atmosphere likely going to end up being one of the strongest all year. And that counts for something. 7/10."

If you want to limit the scope to Mexico, it is literally impossible for anything other than this year's Anniversario to surpass it. (AAA is way too crap in 2024 to produce something half as good, and no other promotion has the ambition and resources.)"

[10.0] "It's going to be a hell of a month ahead, with so many big wrestling cards lined up. This show just might end up being the pick of the bunch though. Spectacular event in a packed Arena Mexico. The tag opener disappointed a tad but it was still a hot opener. The two singles title matches that followed both delivered in a big way. I was so impressed with all four guys. Esfinge and Zandokan Jr. really brought it this week. The minis 4-way wasn't stellar but it still had big stakes and considering two of the four are pushing 60, they went all out. Emotional unmasking for Pequeno Olimpico. Then, we got three stellar tags to round out the show, all of which featured a red hot atmosphere. The main event will be hard to top for MOTY 2024."

[9.0] "I really enjoyed this show. It was my first CMLL show and I will definitely be back for more. I don't think there was a bad match on the card but there were some that I kind of didn't get. The Minis Mask vs Mask 4 way was completely lost on me and I didn't think it was worked that well and the women's match was worked a little faster and messier than I would love. That opening match was absolutely incredible and it hooked me right in and I loved the final two matches, though I still think the finish on the Eight man leaves a lot to be desired. The tap was just too fast for me to feel like it was earned. Overall, very good show and my number 2 of the year so far!"

[9.0] "Solid card from top to bottom. Barbaro vs Averno, the luchadoras, and the torneo final were all great but the main event blew the roof off. Standouts: Zandokan taking the bump of the night from a monkey flip off the apron to the floor; Nightingale's powerhouse domination setting up what I hope is Vaquer coming to AEW; Romero & Soberano love; Dorada hitting multiple highlight reel spots; Mox coming through the crowd; Danielson getting all the love going in then a lot of hate on the way out. Could have done without yet another la Mistica finish. p.s. can someone get Neon a Cagematch profile ASAP?"

[10.0] "In terms of raw atmosphere, this might be the best show you'll see this year. The main event had one of the hottest big crowds of all time. Everyone in BCC, especially Danielson, were treated like megastars. The semi-main had one of the best betrayal angles I've seen in many years, and the undercard was super entertaining. It's unlikely any other show in Mexico will top this for a while."

[8.0] "My first time watching a CMLL event, and it was quite enjoyable to watch. Magnus & Rugido vs Brillante Jr & Neon: A somewhat quite good opening match, having Magnus & Rugido before they continue to impress, whereas I have not seen Brillante & Neon before and they did impress, enjoyable to watch, some decent lucha libre moves used [***1/2]. Esfinge vs Zandokan Jr: Another good match that featured Zandokan Jr, never seen Esfinge before so it was somewhat enjoyable to watch throughout, just wish they were given more time though [***1/2]. Averno vs El Barbaro Cavernario: A somewhat decent match, however the pacing at times did seem to be off a little, the submission at the end was cool to watch, Averno winning was cool to see [**3/4]. Pierrothito vs Pequeno Olimpico vs Acero vs Angelito: Having not ever seeing these four in the ring before until this event, I gotta say it was a great watch, the lucha libre moves used in this match were good to see [***3/4]. La Catalina, Tessa Blanchard & Willow Nightingale vs Lluvia, Stephanie Vaquer & Zeuxis: Willow represented AEW in a nice way in this match, especially when she pinned Vaquer to win the match for her team, everyone else involved gave a solid performance [***1/2]. Mascara Dorada & Rocky Romero vs Atlantis Jr & Soberano Jr: Great match, Dorada and Romero worked well together even with the history they have as rivals, the downfall of the team of Atlantis Jr and Soberano Jr with the betrayal at the end while the referee was distracted was surprising to see [****1/4]. Blue Panther, Mistico, Ultimo Guerrero & Volador Jr vs Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley & Matt Sydal: Fantastic main event, the action throughout was greatly enjoyable, the crowd in Arena Mexico were obviously rooting for the CMLL team, whilst they were enjoying seeing team AEW try their best to win, easily recommend watching the main event [****3/4]"
