[7.0] "Its interesting seeing some rate this show so poorly, it was a really good example of the direction a tour card should be going in my opinion. A few solid but unremarkable multi-man bouts in the undercard with one surprisingly good singles matchup between Mikey Nicholls and Callum Newman, and then two really fun singles bouts. Tsuji / ELP was very good, brilliant selling by ELP and great, diverse offence from Tsuji meant that the Musketeer came out looking incredible, he seems ready to win the cup in my opinion judging by how hes been in it so far. ZSJ / Narita is just the perfect example of what a majorly heel faction should be doing. ZSJ beat the stuffing out of Narita, and while the younger technician put up a solid fight and found a bit of that old fighting spirit back in him, it wasnt enough so he fell back on his new cheating tactics. It followed through on the story beats of ZSJ and Nicholls being alone on this tour, as well as meaning ZSJ has lost out on the cup but has a strong case for winning the G1. Finally this means we get Tsuji vs Narita which should be brilliant judging by their last bout and how far theyve come since."
[6.0] "Another so-so night in the New Japan Cup. The undercard was pretty uninspiring, but the actual New Japan Cup matches were good despite being nothing to write home about. Ren Narita came out looking the best from this show as I believe his match upped his stock quite a bit. Now if he can only be booked more like this in the future. [MOTN: Ren Narita vs. Zack Sabre Jr.]"
[6.0] "Katsuya Murashima vs Shoma Kato: It was an average young lions match, that had not so surprising ten minutes limit draw outcome [*3/4]. Mikey Nicholls vs Callum Newman: It was nice to see a singles match on the undercard between these two, it was an okay match [*3/4]. Just 5 Guys vs Boltin Oleg, El Desperado, Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma: A usual standard multi man match on the undercard, all involved did their parts [**]. BULLET CLUB vs CHAOS & Ryusuke Taguchi: Another standard multi man match on the card, all involved did what they needed to [*3/4]. Guerrillas Of Destiny, Shota Umino & YOH vs House Of Torture: An okay multi man match, YOH picking up the win was good to see [**1/4]. United Empire vs Los Ingobernables de Japon: Best multi man match on the card, some intriguing interactions in this one, BUSHI being pinned is not surprising [**3/4]. Yota Tsuji vs El Phantasmo: Another great match in the 2024 NJC for Tsuji, he and Phantasmo took each other to the limit and beyond, the ending curb stomp was unique, Tsuji winning was surprising but good to see [****1/2]. Ren Narita vs Zack Sabre Jr: This match was better than I thought it was gonna be, Narita held his own against ZSJ, even with the attempted interference at the end when ZSJ took Dick Togo and EVIL down and Mikey Nicholls came out to help his TMDK teammate, Narita winning was a surprise [****1/4]"
[4.0] "The undercard was the same as always but this time we got a 1 vs 1 match that unfortunately sucked. Then the wtl Cup matches were very different. One if the new MOTT, and the main-event is good bout ruined by the EVIL stuff and the ending. Average show. **"
[8.0] "It was probably the best show of the New Japan Cup tournament so far. Maybe the crowd could have been more vocal, it is Osaka after all but besides that it was a great show. The multi-men tag matches did their job, some of them were very fun and Boltin Oleg stands out again as a future star. He often gets strong reactions from the fans. The New Japan Cup matches were some of the best matches of the tournament in 2 different styles. This show did an excellent job at putting over 2 young stars, 2 wrestlers who represent the future of New Japan so I don't get why people would be mad about this."
[6.0] "Despite the disappointing ending, the show had some very good wrestling. The Young Lions tine-limit-draw that kicked off the show was actually very impressive and set a good tone. Nicholls/Newman wasn't bad either, certainly better openers than most of the cards in the tournament had so far. Tsuji/Phantasmo is definitely worth the watch. Tsuji seems primed to make an impact in 2024. Ren Narita/ZSJ could have been better, but anything with HoT will have huge asterisks. Hopefully this sort of thing doesn't come to define Narita."
[5.0] "Should have been a well above average show. The under-card was fun, if not mind-blowing. What are we really meant to expect from a bunch of house show loop tags? Everything was solidly worked and built toward future tournament matches. As for the cup matches; it was a tale of two cities. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Tsuji and ELP had the match of the tournament. ZSJ and Narita spent 20 minutes having a fantastic wrestling match, but then realized that one of them was in House of Torture, so they stopped all that and just did some pantomime crap."
