[8.0] "Possibly the best MLW PPV of the year, the quality of these shows just keeps going up. I can't really think of a bad match per se, except maybe the national title match, I felt like it kinda under-delivered, but I didn't think RSP and Tito would have a lot of chemistry anyways. I also dislike the idea of Kojima being a double champ, I feel like it was a stupid decision. Riddle and Bishop had a fine match, and all the lucha was very entertaining. The event was built around the Azteca Lucha vs Promociones Dorado feud, and I feel like they did well with that, and the end made me wanna know what was gonna happen to Salina."
[5.0] "I've been enticed to check out my first MLW show by the confluence of draws they put on here, primarily Kojima doubling up on titles for me, and I was vaguely dissatisfied with what I've seen. The film school-level of backstage vignettes with TAFKA Dario Cueto, Sami Callihan on the hunt, the usual self-containment of CMLL matches all left me wishing there was more to this. It wasn't bad by any means, but better on paper than on video. The crowd was great, though a little too much lucha fandom and not enough engaging with what's going on story-wise."
[6.0] "Haven't seen MLW in awhile so I jumped right in when I saw this on Thriller. Feels like the crowd was mostly here for the luchadors and Matt Riddle which is a shame because the lucha stuff was alright. The openweight changed hands and nobody cared. Josh Bishop got jobbed out for no reason but Sami Callihan returned. Fuego is usually good but he was having botch night and was outshind by the three other guys. The onscreen feud was a little too low budget even for my taste, gets some mics on them and stop using the camera audio."
[6.0] "A mixed show. The show was largely what was advertised with providing lucha. The first two thirds of the show was largely fine if not a bit disappointing. The opener was fine but felt it went a bit long. Tito/RSP similarly fine but felt short especially as a way to end the second longest Openweight title reign. Bishop/Riddle was way too short with Bishop largely dominating the match until the ending. The prospect of a Riddle/Callihan feud does not interest me. The tag title match was fine but I do question Lawlor and DBS being stripped of the tag titles only for CozyMAX to win them (other than the novelty of Kojima being the first double champion in MLW now.) Ultimo Guerrero/Atlantis Jr, the Averno tag, and the main event were my top three of the show with the main event being my favorite and in the conversation for best MLW match of 2024. The lack of some mention of some of the regular MLW roster like Alex Kane felt odd. This rivalry between Salina and Cezar Duran has also gone on for what feels like way too long without a clear feeling of who is supposed to be face or heel in it with it being treated as the most important aspect of the show. At least the TrillerTV specials are easy to watch."
[7.0] "I attended in person. Crowd was about 60% Mexican lucha fans, 40% American Indie fans, 10% people just there to see Matt Riddle. This was a long show as the live Azteca Lucha started after about 80 minutes of Fury Road taping. Match ratings: Lucha 6 man ** (way too long - Atlantis and Felino really can't go anymore), Tito vs. RSP **1/2 (Probably too short, crowd wasn't into it, finish was anticlimactic for a title change), Atlantis Jr vs. Ultimo **3/4 (Atlantis Jr. Carried the match, well paced), Cozymax vs. SGC **1/2 (Cozymax wasn't that over, match didn't have a great build to the finish and poor storytelling), Riddle vs. Bishop *** (really good TV match, Bishop got a lot of heat), Averno&Magnus vs. Fuegostar ***1/2 (Best paced match of the night, Averno did a great job working the crowd), Mistico vs. Cavernario ***3/4 (well paced and well worked but there wasn't any real doubt that Mistico would win, which knocks it down, Lucha crowd was pretty hot regardless)."
