[8.0] "This was a very good show with some great action throughout, the best match was Femi vs Osborne , they were working like they're already capable of putting on a 5 star match , this wasn't that but this was still awesome. Femi looked like a beast , Osborne was impressive. The worst match was Trick vs Grayson , and that's disappointing given that that's the main event and it shouldn't be mediocre for a other than that amazing show. Trick vs Dragunov would of made this a absolutely perfect show , but this was a huge downgrade from what could've been. My favorite moment was Kevin punching Waller , he really came all the way to nxt just to punch Waller lol. Match ratings Lyra vs Blair 8/10 , Lwo vs No Quarter Catch 8/10 , Arianna vs Roxanne 7/10 , Fallon vs Tiffany 7/10 , Oba vs Riley 9/10 , Trick vs Waller 5/10."

The complete rearranging of Trick/Ilja really put a dampener on the whole thing, and the main event we got wasnt good enough to make me forget about what couldve been. Undercard was hit and miss, when the highlight is a 3 man tag team battle that had a couple super hokey spots, the card isnt worth it. Underdelivered for me."

[7.0] "Not the best 'special' show but it had its moments. First and foremost I really did not like the change for the ME. As a replacement it was a fine bout between two of the Iron survivors however, if you are marketing a match you gonna do it unless it's a real life injury that needs to be taken serious. Then, Dragon Lee's replacement with Carlito might have been worked better as it turned the whole match into a crowd pleaser. Good to see Carlito in NXT. Fallon Henley winning -twice in a row in fact- was the right choice, the match itself was slightly above average for my taste. Women's Title Match could have been a lot better especially if given enough time but for what it is, it was alright. Third women match of the night (which is a rare sight) had an interesting DQ ending. It intrigues me to see more of Perez's edgy side. Breakout Tournament final was alright too, however, I can't help but not feel Femi is forced upon us. Now that I am writing this review retrospectively and knowing that Femi has won the North American title, it feels even more so. Riley Osborne, due to his tenure in NXT UK, is more of an established star who could have utilized an 'underdog' victory over Femi and a future championship opportunity. Crowd pretty much loves him. Femi is much better than that nigerian giant what we have at home. He's only 22 and has a very solid nimbleness for his size. Yet, as of now, he feels like another generic monster. He needs to go on more long matches and show more character. That's why I feel like he's being force pushed where Osborne is doing more character work with Thea and the rest of ChaseU. Eh, he can turn out as a great breakout superstar after all. He's still one of the finest of WWE PC and I think he might be about to gain a Keith Lee-level achievement in his NXT run."

The replacement main event was fine, but nothing special. There were some good spots throughout this show though. The opener was solid, as was the Ranch Hand/Servant match. The six man was fire, and Carlito got a great reaction (and THAT dive was amazing). Good show, but the main event switch did let it down."

[5.0] "Average average average. To take away the main event during the show was really disappointing, though I understand wanting to build trick up a little more. I would have hoped that another match would rise to the occasion and replace the Dragunov/Williams match that brought in the viewers but this was a regular weekly NXT show with a fancy "New Year's Evil" title put over it. The biggest thing I'm excited to see is Stratton as ranch hand for a day but beyond that nothing super special. I'm anticipating big things from Oba Femi but it's too early to tell."

I honestly didn't really find any of the matches all that enjoyable other than the six man tag, and even then, only a few of the spots really caught my attention. I always like watching Trick Williams wrestle but for most of the show I found myself drifting off to other things and getting pretty bored."

[6.0] "A decent episode of NXT that was still not great as I think it could have been. First of all, postponing Trick vs Ilja was a bummer. The replacing match against Waller was fine but in this situation I think that the Womens Title Match should have been the main event with a little more time and drama to end the show. The rest of the matches was fine but nothing really stood out. The most memorable moment was probably Joaquin Wildes crazy dive that made me jump up from my chair. We saw the conclusion of the Breakout Tournament with a deserving winner in Oba Femi - interesting to see where he can go from there. The worst part of the show for me was the weird overturn after the Roxanne vs Arianna match; that could have been done a bit better. All in all I was entertained but felt a bit let down after going into the show with lots of excitement."

[5.0] "A decent special episode of NXT. Lyra vs Blair for the title in the opener was solid, although it should have gotten more time (6/10). The six man tag had some fun moments (6/10). Roxanne vs Arianna was okay, it was more about developing Roxanne's heel turn more than anything else as the referee reversed his decision due to her actions after the match (4/10). Fallon vs Tiffany was decent, it gives Fallon a big win while setting up for some comedy vignettes with Tiffany (5/10). Oba vs Riley in the Breakout Tournament Final was pretty good, both young guys got to show off what they could do. Either guy could have won, but Oba seems like the better choice right now (6/10). The original main event was supposed to be Trick vs Dragunov for the title, but Dragunov wasn't medically cleared and Waller taunted his way into being the replacement. Trick vs Waller was another solid match, the finish once again teased the breakup between Trick and Melo that's been going on for way too long now (6/10). None of the matches were bad, but at the same time none of them were all that great, either. Didn't like the false advertising for the title match, that hurt this episode quite a bit. New Year's Evil 2024 gets a 5/10."

Pretty big negative on them for doing a bait and switch with Ilja here. He didnt even appear on tv so doesnt even seem like he was there, tell people what's going on. Crowd really helped this show a lot."

[5.0] "A mediocre episode of NXT that given its card shouldve been so much more than it was. Blatant false advertising for the main event, only two matches that delivered to a 7 or above standard and some rather clunky storytelling with some very bad moments of dumb nonsense throughout. Enjoyed the Chase U dynamic however and Oba Femi is a true star of the future"

[9.0] "Anybody not giving this show the props it deserves and saying it was 'average' probably watched this show looking to say it was average. This is a show for those without a good attention span, it's snappy, the matches don't go on for too long, the finishes are decisive, the finishes aren't overcomplicated nor do they come across flat, there's always a heap of suspense in everything - this is Crash TV in 2023, and NXT are probably the most exciting and concise product in Pro Wrestling right now. Anybody not admitting such a clear fact is just kidding themselves. Great show."

"Quite an average show. The highlight was Oba Femi for sure but that's all. The Wilde spot in the 6 man tag was wicked. The womens matches were average as was Waller vs. Trick. Definitely not battling for show of the year."

[7.0] "This was certainly a much better show than the previous years New Years Evil TV although like how that show had a bait and switch in the Creeds vs. Indus Sher, this one had one on a much more important match in the main event. A bizarre turn of events in that Im not sure if they got cold feet toward doing the match and wanting to draw it out longer or if there is an issue with Ilja of some form. Regardless it put the show in a tough spot but it ended up at least being a pretty good show. The trios match was my favorite of the night but everything else was largely solid. At least with the show being a TV show and not a PLE, the bait and switch doesnt hurt as bad but it did still hurt. Nevertheless, a better NYE than 2023s although not quite as good overall as 2021s or 2022s."

[8.0] "I thought this was a really solid show tbh. Lyra vs. Blair opener was really solid stuff and I enjoyed it. The trios match between the catch crew and LWO with Carlito was a lot of fun. Joaquin Wilde did the craziest springboard dive I've ever seen. It would have fit in well in Arena Mexico. I was happy that Oba Femi won the breakout tournament because he has a lot of potential to be a great big man in NXT. I almost wish they would have sent him to AJPW instead of Charlie Dempsey. We were supposed to get Dragunov vs. Trick on this show but Dragunov was not medically cleared which is disappointing. I was really looking forward to that match but it will happen at a later date. Instead we got Trick putting his number one contendership on the line against Greyson Waller at the behest of Melo. The Melo/Trick storyline continues. The match they had was fine but I think he would have had a better match with Dragunov. Overall, one of the better NXT episodes in recent memory."
