[9.0] "9 This was exactly what it needed to be. If Wrestlemania is the big blowout of various rivalries and championship reigns (we saw a 4-year and a 2-year run come to an end this year), sort of a season final so to speak, than the Raw after should feel like a new beginning. We had two raw debuts with Ilja Dragunov and Roxanne Perez as well as the continuation of Jade Cargill's rise to stardom and the start of a possible Chad Gable push. We had the the fallout of Rock and Cody and a hint at the future. Punk/Drew continues as well. I liked everything about this show. After a show like Wrestlemania things can cool off a little. We still got the start and continuation of great rivalries."

[7.0] "I clearly thought a lot higher of this show than many did. The opening segment, as long as it was, felt epic. The crowning of Cody was such a huge moment, it warranted this over the top follow up. I like the fact they built some intrigue here (what did The Rock hand Cody). The rest of the show was solid. Good use of NXT stars to hype the draft and a strong main event to get a new #1 contender. Willing to accept I'm scoring this high because of post-Mania feels, but compared to last year, this was night and day."

[6.0] "The 45-minute promo to open this episode was WAYYYYYY too long, and felt even longer than it was because there were no commercials in the first hour (which actually sucked because it just meant they had to cram even more commercials into the rest of the episode, which meant cutting the actual wrestling matches shorter). I know Cody Rhodes needs to do his victory laps and they need to keep pushing the start of the Paul Levesque Era, but enough is enough after a while. The Rock's confrontation with Cody Rhodes (setting the scene for an eventual match at a future Wrestlemania or some other PPV) was great, but again... way too long. Much of the rest of the episode was pretty meh (John Cena's "surprise" appearance with R-Truth and The Miz came as a surprise to absolutely nobody, and I'm already getting tired of Jade Cargill squash matches, though Chelsea Green was great at selling it here), except for the main event with Uso, Reed, McIntyre, and Ricochet, which was very solid."

[7.0] "A solid Raw after Wrestlemania that had that season premier type of feel they try to go for with both NXT top champions having decisive wins, Jade Cargill looking like a full time member of the roster, The Rock and Cody Rhodes having an intense promo at the start of the show, and Sami/Gable being a program I am really anticipating. John Cena's save of The Awesome Truth was fun, and I am now dying to see Drew McIntyre get his hands on CM Punk. 3 star show at worst. Side note I like Cody Rhodes as much as the next person, but with the celebration at the end of Wrestlemania and then the almost tribute package they showed at the start of Raw of his journey to the title you would think he was dying. I understand the magnitude of the moment and him ending Roman's death grip on that championship but damn WWE. I certainly hope Cody gets the Cena treatment from back in the day and gets shoved down the viewers throat."

[4.0] "If not for the main event and Drew's outstanding promo, this show would've been one of the worst of the year. If you're advertising your first hour as commercial free and 45 minutes of it is a promo and less than 5 is for a match, (not including entrances), it's intentionally misleading. It also speaks volumes about it when the WWE YouTube channel only uploaded the last 20 minutes, which were the only worthy part of that promo."

[5.0] "I mean honestly it was hit or miss kind of a letdown after mania. The segment with Cody and Rock was weird but it was fun. Even though it was way too short the Ilja and Shinsuke match was cool I mean most of the matches on the card were at least solid that Awesome Truth and Judgement Day match sucked until Cena came out which genuinely popped me. The Roxanne and Indi match was short but not bad Roxanne is pretty cool and it furthers the storyline of Candices heel turn. I expected more out of the Gable and Sami vs Imperium match but it was still enjoyable and the match between Gable and Sami next week will probably be pretty good. I like how theyre booking Jade as a star shes cool. The fatal four way at the end I was kinda burnt out when it came but it was decent the spot of Ricochet hitting Reed through the announce table was cool Ricochet is not human man. Jey won which means hell probably lose to Priest at Backlash so Priest has at least one successful title defense on a PPV before dropping the belt. Overall the episode was fine I guess although i felt like at some points that I was just waiting for it to end felt like a chore to watch despite the cool moments."

This was a solid raw, it drew lines under finished storylines and advanced some new ones. The wrestling was good and if promos are your thing there were some belters, including a 45 minute promo to open the show"

[5.0] "Ilja could be a big player on the main roster but out of all people did it have to be Nakamura who had to get squashed (It's logical to assume it'd run longer if it was not for the promos)? It kills you inside. Hurray! 2 womens matches and 3 minutes combined. It's been the main attraction to RAW after all. Roxanne is a nice surprise alright but what about the Cargill squash? Made me wonder how many more will get until we saw a proper Cargill match without the 'moves of doom'. I hope it's sooner than later. Awesome Truth - Judgement Day match was not working until Cena arrived (and it appears to be staged just for the sake of it) and then it was fun-ish in the context of history between all three guys. Gable & Zayn against Imperium was a fun bout. Gable is a reliable worker with a high work rate so I pray for WWE to finally pull the trigger on him and crown him once he gets over again. Main event was a good match but I have 0 interest in the Main Event Jey even if we consider WHC an upper-card belt. A Ricochet win would have been a pleasant change of scenery. 45 minutes promo thrice in a row is jarring but yeah, it was expected for a RAW after Mania. Not the best RAW after Mania and lacked surprises but it's worth to keep an eye out for a while."

"Starting the show with Hunter welcoming everyone to the new era was expected. Cody coming out as a champion and the video package and the emotion out there was cool. The rock came out to drag the show and take some spotlight. I loved the surprises of ilja and Roxy coming out. Jade seems to be raw bound in the draft. Jade vs Rhea? Sign me up. Miz ruined raw for me. I like truth tho. Imperium deserve more respect in the WWE, they are legitimate A class tag team wrestling champs worthy. Main event was ok. Finally, I wish this new era leads to more wrestling matches and longer matches in weeekly shows."

[6.0] "The good part: it was a better show than the average these days, thanks to some surprises and nice matches. Also, it was a so much better RAW after Mania than last year. The bad part: it was quite a mid RAW after Mania show. The only surprise that truly hyped me was having one of the best wrestlers in the world and one of the two best wrestlers in WWE today, Ilja Dragunov debuting in one of the best glorified squashes I've ever seen. That speaks volumes of how great both Ilja and Shinsuke Nakamura are, and I can't even imagine what a real all out match between both men would be. Some of the time given to the Awesome Truth match should've been given to this match and I'm sure it would've been one of the best of the year so far. Repeating the same move with the women was so lazy. It was good to see Roxanne, but there was no creativity there. At least that match served to keep developing the story of Indi and Candice (so good for a low-card story). John Cena entering the handicap match was made obvious by WWE, and I think, just like WrestleMania, that he should've appeared earlier. The opening segment was too much for me. Cody Rhodes did good, but The Rock's delivery of a pretty good promo with no silliness on his behalf and setting a future 1 on 1 match with Cody was so bad and boring. The eternal silences, the neverending interruptions to let the people react (it's ok to let the people express themselves, but he just kept killing the vibe over and over and he looked like he never could end a sentence). And sorry, but I strongly dislike how they're making something that's already big, epic and great by itself look bigger so forcibly (I never see any other World Champion in WWE be treated like Cody Rhodes. Austin, Cena, Hogan, Bryan... When did they get that much pomp and circumstance for winning a Title? They never needed it and their moments felt iconic by itself). We got some new stories began like Gable vs Sami (I'm really hyped for that. The match can be great, but the potential feud could've be even greater), and some random stuff like Jade squashing Chelsea Green because they have to present Jade as a big star instead of letting her show with a more organic booking. Drew McIntyre once again killing it on the mic and his feud with CM Punk getting hotter, a nice main event... Show was enjoyable for the 3 hours, and despite some issues, it was better than usual. I actually felt that sense of re-start and freshness. Let's see if this is actually going to be a new era."

[6.0] "If you take away the Raw after WrestleMania expectations, this was still a pretty solid episode. Started off draggy though with The Rock and Cody having that pretty weird segment but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I think thats also the reason Shinsuke/Ilja was so short because they went over. That match picked up and was looking to be great but a sudden end to it ruined it for me. The tag match was decent, I didnt think the NXT Womens Champion would show up on Raw to squash Indi but okay I guess. Sami still going with Imperium and the title match vs Chad is looking good for next week. Jade squashing Chelsea wasnt a surprise and the main event was really good in my opinion. Overall, still a pretty good episode if you take away the expectation of the Raw After WrestleMania. Although I am a little surprised that Sheamus or Brock didnt return."

There wasn't much wrestling, and most of it was uninspired. I was interested in the Rock - Cody stuff even though it didn't make a lot of sense. I thought they would do more here."

[6.0] "Nakamura vs Dragunov was awesome until it suddenly ended and if HHH & Rock soaking it in for 20 minutes between them is why it went 4 instead of 10 that sucks. This was a reminder why I don't watch WWE weekly (so little wrestling, odd pacing, so much focus on so little), but it's at least cool that they have momentum and a lot of dudes that are over. A few good matches despite the lack of time devoted to wrestling, and while people treating it like high cinema are exaggerating the post-Dunn production is a massive improvement (the unbroken shot from Dom & Rhea to Indi's entrance was kind of excellent though). WM40 proved to me that I need to keep a closer eye on WWE but I'm not spending 3 hours every Monday on it if this is their best shot."

[6.0] "Pretty average episode of Raw here. Obviously they're were a few surprising moments, like Ilja, Jade, Roxanne and Cena showing up for matches, but overall this was kinda just whatever. That opening segment also went on for far too long, when it couldn't easily gotten the point across in half the time. It was essentially just Triple H introducing Cody, putting him over, playing this lovely little video for him, and then the Rock coming out and basically just saying that he wants a match with Cody at some point. That should've taken like 20 minutes tops, but because of all of the stalling, especially during the Rock portion of the segment, it ended up going on for 45 minutes and taking up most of the first hour. Really just a fine show overall. Built to a few matches, like Sami vs Chad, Priest vs Jey and Rhea vs Liv, but overall this wasn't anything amazing."

Because being a 3 hour show it felt rushed, Ilja was nice, and he could actually have a great match with more time, some surprises but not many, it was fun anyway, just not enough for a post mania"

[5.0] "I feel like ever since I stopped watching Raw regularly, I tune into the post Mania Raw expecting something really good only to end up being disappointed. This was by no means as bad as the last Raw after Mania, but between the lack of excitement and overly long intro promo between Rock and Cody, I couldn't help but be pretty disappointed in what was delivered despite the actual matches being decent enough. [MOTN: Bronson Reed vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jey Uso vs. Ricochet]"

Only a 5 because I had fun laughing at the company that 'saved professional wrestling.'"

[7.0] "It was what I expected from this show. What I want to see from this raw after mania is knowing new stories, new feuds, debuts and returns. The start of the program was emotional, seeing Cody crowned as the new face of WWE is incredible. The segment with La Roca was too good, showing that there may be a rivalry. Ilja's debut leaves positive feelings for the future, beyond the in-ring level of the fight and the few minutes. Seeing the public react in a good way to an NXT talent is something that I had not seen in a long time, I think I haven't seen anything like this since the Black and Gold era. Then, we saw the Judgment Day celebration with Rhea as women's champion and the new world heavyweight champion, Damian Priest. The only thing that caught my attention was the moment in which R-truth poses with Damian and Rhea with his new championships. It was entertaining. Then the six man tag team match would take place, but it started with a 2 vs. 3 handicap match, until Cena arrived and helped Awesome Truth and wins the match. Fan service. After the match, Roxanne Perez made her debut on Raw, defeating Indi Hartwell. Jade Cargill also made her raw debut, beating Chelsea Green in less than a minute. The time in action of the women's division in Raw is very criticizable. I consider that Raw needs a women's revolution to make it more interesting to watch. I also liked seeing that there may be a feud between Gable and Sami, I'm very intrigued by that. The main event was one of the best I saw in the show, four fighters with varied styles put on a good show, and it also added more angles to the feud that there will be between Punk and Drew. Ricochet's 450 splash towards Bronson was the best. It's not a bad Raw after mania, without a doubt, it's much better than it was last year."

[5.0] "For all this new era talk thats been shoved down our throats this weekend the expectations going into this show were very high. And well this show flopped. While it was much better than last years disaster it wasnt anything special. Starts off with a 40 minute promo segment which i dont care who is the ring I dont wanna see them talk for 40 minutes. While the rock and Cody promo was important and will lead to an eventually singles match between them it didnt need to take up almost a whole hour. It was nice to see the mens and womens NXT champs get showcased, the awesome truth vs JD tag match was a drag even with cena coming out to help. Only thing worth watching from this is the main event 4 way that was a good match the rest is forgettable."

It was a decent RAW, they need to cool it down a bit after WrestleMania, don't they? Would've given it higher if we got better matches (apart of the main event). Man, I wish Ilja/Nakamura would have lasted longer."
BigReedus wrote on 09.04.2024:
[7.0] "I thought the opening promo was excellent. It ran long, sure, but I'm okay with that with a new champion. Given the narrative and everything that happened, Cody deserved all the time he wanted to soak it all in. Not his best wordplay, but the emotions were palpable. Then, The Rock came out and subverted all my expectations. He didn't get nasty, but was subtle and insidious. The whole segment where he wanted to hold Cody's new belt was soaked in tension. Plus, Rocky's interactions with the Philly crowd were gold. The other champ promos were also really fun and emotional. It was great to see Ilja Dragunov be over with a main roster crowd and he looked good. But, again, it came at Shinsuke Nakamura's expense. Likewise, it was good to see Roxanne Perez - her heel character is deliciously nasty. She's getting better by the appearance at playing that entitled bully who only is worse now that she actually has the title. Yet, she was paired with Indi Hartwell, who is not on her level in the ring. It made sense story-wise given their NXT history, and the slow build to Indi vs Candice is nice and I hope it has a good payoff. I appreciate Chelsea Green and all she does for the company, but her squash by Jade Cargill was unnecessary. Feels like that spot could have been used in a better way - we already know Jade is a beast and it'd be nice to see Chelsea actually wrestle, because she's quite good when she gets the time. All in all, this adds up to a solid, if unspectacular, RAW-after-'Mania. After what we got last year, I'll take it."

The only probleme is that it did not make sense that Cody let the Rock play with him like that. The matches and segments were good. Dragunov Perez and Cargill? Hell Yeah! Cena? Let's go! The main event was also cool with McIntyre losing his mind and Jey winning. I'm hypped for Smackdown and Raw in Montreal next week!"

Instead, we got a 40+ minute promo that could have been done in a third of that time. A bunch of meaningless matches filled the rest of the show. And the main event quietly went from elimination to one fall during the match, but it was hard to care about that match because there were multiple commercial breaks. Just torture all around. [8.0] "Not really understand the hate on this show. Yes there was promos, but we have new champions, included the one who ended a 4 years run by the precedent champ, and who will have a feud with the Rock within the year, and you want it to be a 5 minutes celebration then a 5 minutes promos? Come on, be serious. Not a lot of surprises I can agree with that, but is that affect the quality of the show? Not at all. The main event was a great great match, indeed the other matchs were just mid, whici is I think the main problem of this show. I think it was not the first raw of the new era, it was just the conclusion of the Wrestlemania week, the first show of that new era will be the next raw, but for this one, it did the job, to conclude an amazing week with some good vibes, so it's an 8 for me. Not the greatest Raw of the year, but a satisfying show."

I had my hopes with the first minutes of Iljia Dragunov vs Nakamura, wich was starting great! But the match was like 5 min... Also there's way too much video packages and recap. John Cena looked kinda stupid in the trio match, arriving way too late when R-Truth was supposed to introduce him before the match. Making Roxanne Perez debut against Indie Hartwell... I need to see more of Jade Cargill than a squash too. Didn't really cared of the main event since the important stuff happened before. Still skeptical about that HHH era."

It was cool seeing NXT talent on RAW, perhaps testing them for a call-up soon. Everything else was just fine. Jade's squash match did what it needed to do, Sami/Chad VS. Imperium was good, 6-Man Tag was harmless fun and the main event was good, planting the seeds for future matches like Drew/Punk and Priest/Uso. If that opening promo was cut down to maybe 30 minutes, my score would have been higher."

[7.0] "In-ring, this episode of RAW did little to support the "pro wrestling is back" mantra WWE were promoting at WrestleMania, it seemed like most episodes of RAW. The start was carried by new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion (still a mouthful) Cody Rhodes and The Rock going head to head, teasing a future match between them. There's also another draft coming up at the end of the month. In terms of surprises, there was only really John Cena, plus short matches for NXT Champions Ilja Dragunov and Roxanne Perez. Worth noting that in three hours (the first being commercial free), there were barely 50 minutes of in-ring wrestling, with only three minutes and 16 seconds for the women, although Rhea Ripley got decent screen time, including being attacked by Liv Morgan. I just got the feeling that despite the WrestleMania hype, they were conceding defeat to the college basketball championship game that ran opposite its last two hours."

We got debuts of two of the top NXT stars. Ilja looked great against Nakamura. Liv Morgan back in business. A Jade Cargill appearance. Loved the Cena appearance and the Zayn/Gable dynamic. And then a great main event 4-way to determine the number one contender. Do Jey/Priest at Backlash and hold off on McIntyre/Priest rematch until Clash at the Castle."

[7.0] "Decent raw with okay matches, really carried by the Cody segment and the main event. I'm a little skeptical of how much ass-patting WWE is giving themselves despite the product still largely resembling what it did a year ago aside from more experimental production. It'll be interesting to see if this momentum can be kept up for the next year as far as establishing new, entertaining angles and "continuing the story", as Cody said. When the in-ring quality remains relatively the same style and format across the board, it's not a big ask for stories that can elevate those matches as well. I can't see anything filling the drama void that the Bloodline left, at least not just yet. I'll remain optimistic since there's a Rock/Cody feud on the far edges of the horizon, the aftermath of the Bloodline's fallout, and Drew/Punk, but so far nothing happening RIGHT NOW is making me excited when I know all the payoff is extremely far out."

The opening segment was rough. 45 minutes for an opening promo that really could have gone 15. I feel as if the crowd reactions perhaps stretched this out, but even so I think the video for Cody could have been showed after the show and uploaded to Youtube later. Nakamura vs Dragunov was my first time watching Ilya's work. I thought he did fine, but perhaps Nakamura wasn't the best opponent for him. Nakamura isn't his NJPW or even his NXT self 8 years on, and I feel like Dragunov was perhaps moving in slow motion to protect Nakamura. The middle segments of the show weren't much either. Nothing really stuck with me until the main event, which was sadly plagued with ads. Overall, a disappointing start to the "new era""

I think the Cody/Rock segement absolutely did not need 45 mins but it was still a good segment that told us we are basically getting Cody v Rock once he comes back. Seeing Ilja and Roxanne was really cool aswell, fun little surprise appearances. John Cena being there was also a huge surprise. We got Sami v Gable confirmed for next week which should be awesome in front of a hot Montreal crowd. The fatal 4 way was really good and I think having Priest go against one of the hottest baby faces in the company in Jey Uso will be a blast. Ricochet is also insane btw. Punk also made a cameo distracting Drew from winning is perfectly setting up their feud once he's cleared. Overall, it was more of a good vibes type of RAW and I think they'll get back in the groove come smackdown and so on."

Seriously the man came out Saturday, then wrote a promo for his wife on Sunday and for whatever reason Cody thought (surely all by himself) that for the first world title win in his WWE career at the biggest stage of them all he should invite the guy "who made it all possible" ... so this is a new era huh? 45 minute promos that could have been done in 10. 3 matches under 5 minutes, a sloppy but kind of fun if not pointless 6 man tag (almost a tradition for Raw after mania) and one single. solitary. wrestling oriented/focused match that still has to end with an injured old part-timer who cant go anymore screwing over a hot prospect... outstanding. Slow claps all around I guess. I mean yeah, better than last year's Raw after Mania but in true WWE fashion they let all the hype carry the show and did the most bare minimum of work. I really should have known that Raws after Manias wouldn't be special anymore, but HHH SWORE to us all like 5 times in the last 72 hours that this was a "new era" and the other guy's stench would be no where to be found. But lest we forget who mentored HHH for the last 20 years on that side of the business? Well if it wasn't Vince it was freaking Bruce Prichard and that's pretty much the same damn thing."

[9.0] "The "RAWs After 'Mania" have not always been exclusively about the shoking debuts/appearances/returns, in fact it used to be like that before mid-2010s. To me the most important thing for the post-WM shows has always been carrying correctly the momentum from WM, and imo this show did that really well. This show planted the seeds for a Future Cody/Rock title match, got the first challenger for Damian Priest while continuing the Punk/Drew feud, set a title match between Sami Zayn and Chad Gable next week, and teased the next title feud for Rhea Ripley against Liv Morgan. Add some nice appearances like Ilja Dragunov and Roxanne Perez teasing which new people might bring the Draft in a couple of weeks, a surprise appearence from John Cena, and an amazing crowd throughout the whole show, and you have a great first show after WrestleMania."

[6.0] "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. For how vaunted this "new era" is, not much has changed in substance. I know there's gonna be a lot of discourse about stopwatches, and I think as far as the specifics go, we grant WWE some of their indulgences as it is the Raw after WrestleMania. Certainly, I did not mind the first 30 minutes at all; Cody is a well deserving champion and deserved the time. But then the Rock came out, and everything started unravelling fast. So wrapped up in milking his own aura, he yet again busts his times wide open, and as the first hour was commercial free, the piper needing to be paid meant that a lot of the matches had to be shoved to PIP. A small mercy they weren't behind the full break, I guess, but even PIP wrestling is only slightly evolved above full-commercial rest holds. But still, squashing Nakamura in five instead of letting two of the best wrestlers in the world cook for fifteen is really sad. And for a Raw after Mania, there was very little in the way of surprise returns. Sure, they might want to hold on call-ups until after the draft, but still, part of allowing the Raw-after-Mania the indulgence is that we expect on some level to get certain things delivered. Otherwise, just like how the Rumble as of late has become a spin-the-wheels glorified battle royale, this too is just more like a regular Raw than what we should be getting. More than anything, really, this shows why Netflix might be wise to bring Raw back down to two hours."

"This was far from the worst Raw Ive ever seen but was also far from the best. The opening segment was fun but felt like it went on way too long and made the matches suffer because of it. Aside from the main event every match felt rushed and the pace of the show felt off. The main event and the opening segment really brought the show up but everything in between felt like more the same and thats not what you want for a new era"

[5.0] "I dont know, man. The show just went downhill after the Cody and Rock segment, which was longer than it needed to be. Nakamura vs. Dragunov is an excellent match on paper, but it was limited to 4 minutes. I'm glad the NXT superstars are getting showcased, which is a positive, but not enough to bring this show back up. Im hoping something changes this Friday, but I feel certain its going to be the exact same. The main event was fairly decent, and it lead to them furthering the feud between Punk and McIntyre. Other than that, this felt like a normal average RAW that we have seen countless times. At least its slightly better than last years atrocious show."
