Im Aftermath geht Mox nochmal verbal auf OC los, das war richtig gut. Der Face-Off im Ring zwischen Hangman und Swerve war absolut fantastisch. Hangman hat hier die beste Promo seines bisherigen Lebens gehalten. Dieses Segment war perfekt. Das Backstage Segment mit Strong und Cole hätte ich nicht gebraucht. Skye Blue vs. Red Velvet war ordentlich. Der Sieg von Blue macht absolut Sinn und ist auch verdient. Im Anschluss gab es eine gute Videopromo von Miro, auch wenn ich immer noch nicht weiß, wie ich die Storyline um ihn und seine Frau finden soll. Storm und Mariah May haben ein weirdes, aber unterhaltsames Segment miteinander, das ist schon gut gemacht. Im Anschluss macht Samoa Joe standesgemäß kurzen Prozess mit Jon Cruz. Joe's Promo danach war gut, viel Neues hatte er aber nicht zu sagen. The Young Bucks vs. Penta und Komander war ein starkes Spotfest ohne Pausen, die heelischere Ausrichtung der Bucks gefällt hier gut. Backstage gibt es dann noch ein interessantes Segment mit den Bucks und Omega. Danach dürfen die Gunns zwei Jobber squashen, von mir aus. Ihre kurze Promo im Aftermath war absolut in Ordnung. Die Videopromo von Wardlow in Richtung MJF war ebenfalls unterhaltsam. Dach ich schon lange keinen so bekloppten Street Fight gesehen habe, hatte ich hier total meinen Spaß an diesem Main Event. Hin und wieder kann so etwas sehr unterhaltsam sein. Das Abschließende Segment beginnt mit einer soliden MJF Promo, die mich aber nicht ganz gekriegt hat. White's Antwort war ebenfalls in Ordnung. |

Red gegen Blue war wirklich nicht besonders gut. Auch wenn das Publikum einmal This is Awesome ruft, sind hier einige Sachen doch sehr unsauber, inklusive des Code Blue am Ende. Die Bucks gegen Penta und Komander war mal wieder so ein Match, wo ich schon vorher weiß, dass ich da keine Sekunde Spaß dran habe. Moves, Moves, Moves. Da gehe ich lieber in den Zirkus zu den Artisten. Dafür hat der Eight Man Street Fight den perfekten Mix aus Spaß und Hardcore Aktionen geboten und war wirklich stark. Es ist sicherlich auch das Beste, dass Paul Wight für zwei Spots da ist: Ein Chokeslam für Kyle Fletcher durch den Tisch und dann Will Hobbs' Slam auf das Autodach. Das genügt völlig. Ungewöhnlich ist dann, dass wir nicht mit einem großen Match enden, sondern stattdessen mit einem Promo-Segment. Das war dann gar nicht mal so herausragend. Die Kommentatoren machen einen besseren Job als die Performer Jay White und MJF, als sie am Ende sagen, MJFs Vergangenheit holt ihn ein, denn niemand kommt heraus, um ihn vor dem Beatdown von Bullet Club Gold zu retten. Insgesamt muss ich sagen, dass ich diese Show wirklich eher durchschnittlich fand. Die Jobber-Matches nehmen bei AEW überhand und mit Blue-Velvet gibt es leider auch ein ziemlich schwaches Match. Der Street Fight war gut, das Match der Bucks im Grund auch, aber einfach nichts für meinen Geschmack. |

War der unterhaltsame Quatsch den man erwarten konnte Ich mochte es auf jeden Fall. Der Opener von Dynamite war dann doch ein gutes Tag Team Match. Mox und Yuta war mal eine neue Kombination des BCC. Guter Auftakt für die Show. Blue gegen Velvet war ein ganz nettes Match. Velvet zurück ist erstmal gut. Jetzt braucht sie noch ein wenig mehr Persönlichkeit und dann wird das schon was. Joe gegen Cruz war halt da. Mein MOTN ist das Match der Bucks. Egal in welcher Kombi Bucks und Lucha Brothers sich begegnen, da kommt immer was sehr gutes bei raus. So auch hier. Schönes High Flying Tag Match. Komander kann Fenix natürlich nicht ersetzten aber er fügte sich gut ein und hat auch viel gezeigt. Ich mag so etwas einfach. Schönes Match. Das Match der Gunns war egal. Der Main Event war dann ein gutes Mulitiman Street Fight. Das Motto wurde gut getroffen, das Wrestling war in Ordnung. Da hat einfach viel gepaßt und es hat einfach Spaß gemacht sich das anzusehen. Wight spielte auch keine große Rolle. Guter Abschluß. |

Seriously, this felt twice as long as it actually was, probably due to an underwhelming card of overlong matches and middling segments. AEW usually has hot opening matches, but from the get-go, something was clearly not clicking with the crowd. OC doing a repeat of his last storyline almost 1:1 is lazy. Skye Blue wrestled like she's on a 3-second delay. Squash matches aren't believable or even useful in 2023. And The Bucks are inexplicably still present on my TV screen doing the exact same things they've always done. It's just so... samey. But for all of the grime on this show, there were still some redeeming qualities. Swerve/Hangman had a great, believable promo that actually features a modicum of intensity and hatred between the two of them. The Bucks turning heel is somewhat refreshing, since they're barely characters as faces. The goofy Yakuza tie-in match was fun when it wasn't completely laughable, and I'll give it credit for waking the crowd up and having one or two brutal looking spots. It's good that Joe is being featured weekly, though pointless squashes are not a way to build up a world title contender that doesn't even need to be built up in the first place. MJF's generic babyface promo was okay, but Jay White barely has the fire to compete with him on the mic. If this is what a 2023 Dynamite is like when you don't center the entire episode around MJF, I don't know if it has enough steam to keep people invested. I wish I could give this a higher rating, but one entertaining match and segment on a 2 hour show is a tough sell, especially when nothing else grabbed me. |

Das Eight Man Tag war wie zu erwarten reinstes Chaos, die Kamera wußte gar nicht wohin sie schalten musste und hat damit das meiste verpaßt. Big Show hatte vor 20 Jahren schon im Ring nix drauf und jetzt im Alter noch weniger. Was soll das? ! Bitte geh und bleib in Rente. Dich braucht echt keiner mehr. Was für eine absolute 0 Nummer. Die Promos von Hangman und MJF waren gut, ansonsten eine äußerst schwache Ausgabe von Dynamite. |

Now they probably have the hottest angle going into the PPV. Maybe the only angle with any measurable heat at all. I can barely remember what happened at the end with MJF and Bullet Club Gold. I think the poor main event really took me out of things. It already felt like AEW was leaning too hard into Reddit-tier comedy in the past few weeks and then that match happened. |

Finally, we got the Like a Dragon Gaiden Street Fight as Kota Ibushi, Paul Wight, and the Golden Jets took on Brian Cage and the Don Callis Family in a very fun match. |

Wild Dynamites are the best Dynamites. The Young Bucks vs Penta/Komander was my personal MOTN. The Bucks work better as heels. But the fun didn't stop there. The eight-man street fight got me on the edge of my seat the whole time. That bodyslam from Hobbs to Paul Wight was easily one of the craziest spot in Dynamite's history. And the piledriver from Fletcher to Ibushi was a holy shit moment. Was weird to see Ibushi get up before Fletcher though. He still looks a tad lost in his AEW matches. I'm sure MJF/White will deliver, but I'm not into their feud as much as I thought I would. Swerve/Hangman could easily be for the world title belt. All in all, very entertaining Dynamite that got me pumped up for Full Gear. |

Hook & Orange Cassidy vs Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta: A good preview of Moxley and Cassidy at Full Gear, it was chaotic before the bell even rang when Hook and Cassidy jumped Moxley and Yuta, Moxley gaining momentum heading into the Full Gear match was good to see [***1/4]. Skye Blue vs Red Velvet: Good back and forth match, Blue winning was okay but would like to have seen Velvet win, but Blue winning was obvious choice to win as her involvement with Julia Hart will continue into the title match at Full Gear [***1/4]. Samoa Joe vs Jon Cruz: A dominant victory for Samoa Joe [*]. Komander & Penta El Zero Miedo vs The Young Bucks: Great match, paced rightly throughout the match with some great action throughout, YB resorting to underhanded tactics did ruin the match slightly but still worth watching [***3/4]. The Gunns vs Jacoby Watts & Peter Avalon: A really quick victory for The Gunns ahead of them challenging for the ROH Tag Titles at Full Gear [DUD]. Brian Cage, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher & Powerhouse Hobbs vs Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi & Paul Wight: This street fight was as wild if not wilder than expected, all involved gave their best within the match and it showed with quite a few brutal spots like Powerhouse Hobbs hitting a bodyslam on Paul Wight on the car or Kyle Fletcher hitting Kota Ibushi with a tombstone piledriver through the sign through the chairs just to name a few. Jericho, Omega, Ibushi and Wight winning was the right choice [****1/2] |

Things that I liked included Hangman's fantastic promo on Swerve, the surprisingly strong women's match between Blue and Velvet, Miro's promo, Toni Storm's backstage segment, the Bucks versus Penta/Komander (first Komander match I really liked, to be honest), the Bucks fully turning heel (as Matt said, it's their best version) and even the Street Fight was really good. Although, honestly, I hated the bumps in that match for their danger: the Tombstone on Ibushi through the stacked-up chairs, the Suplex on Omega through the tables, Paul Wight who can barely walk being recklessly tossed half-way unto a car windshield and who knows what broke inside him when he slid to the floor. Guys, I really admire your work ethic, but some of this stuff is way too extreme. Commentary was excellent again. |
