[6.0] "The opener here was just too weird and unnecessary, and the rest of the card didn't have the highest heights with most of the other matches being good but only slightly above average. I understand how many would put Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr as a blockbuster that outranks anything and everything here, and it's good, but I'm not a giant fan of the technical submossion stuff, so this match didn't do enough to raise this to excellent or anything like that on my scale."
[7.0] "Like most AEW shows, there's too much average on here to give it a perfect score. For me it was very hard to enjoy the event after Danielson and ZSJ, nothing was going to be as exciting as that and an over dramatic main event that just didn't seem to end didn't help either. Strickland and Page is pretty decent but other than that everything is very skippable especially the tag title match that has to be the most boring Revival/FTR match I've ever seen."
[10.0] "The final 4 matches are crazy levels of good. The show is a little inconsistent before that but the last 4 makes up for it. My favorite matches was the main event, the Bryan match, and swerve vs Hangman."
[8.0] "Rightly or wrongly I still associate the latter half of 2023 (well, the whole of 2023, to be honest) as a mixed and awkward period for AEW. The issues with CM Punk had a huge impact on what the company was doing (particularly with the awkward not-quite-a-brand-split soft split with Collision that resulted in some clunky booking), but not just that, the storyline between MJF and Adam Cole completely fell apart when the latter became injured and the world title started taking a bit of a backseat. As a result of all this context I have provided, I personally feel that a lot of these 2023 PPVs were a bit too disjointed to really be rated any higher than a 8. There were some great matches and of course Copeland debuting was great. Not all the matches were that good though."
[10.0] "The inaugural Wrestledream lives up to the name with yet another stellar PPV. Ignoring the MJF opening match with a world title story that grows increasingly unpopular, and the random TV match between Starks and Yuta, the its just a perfectly structured supercard. You got a solid opener with Kingston vs Shibata, two guys with a lot of respect towards each other and the storied traditions of Japanese "strong style" professional wrestling. Julia Hart was super hot this year and looked impressive against the champ Statlander, but the champ retained. The fourway tag team was a lot of fun, even though it sucks it looks like Rey Fenix got legit injured. Then we get our first great match with Hangman vs Swerve. Hangman's feeling disillusioned after losing the world title to CM Punk, and Swerve wants his top guy spot. Swerve is cheered like the home town hero, and its such a banger of a match that feels like a main event. Its the kind of match that elevates a wrestler's status, and Swerve looked every bit a superstar as Adam Page. After the skippable Yuta/Starks, we get an absolutely incredible match between Zack Sabre Jr and Bryan Danielson. One wrestler has won the Best Technical Wrestler award seven times in a row, the other has won it twelve times and the award is named after him. This justifies the title of the PPV alone, a ***** classic thats as good a pro wrestling match I ever seen. There are sequences in here of just pure mat wrestling counters and holds that got me and the whole audience jumping out of their seats. Its the AEW MOTY for me, even over the more suitably epic Omega/Ospreay from Forbidden Door. The six-man tag after that was fun, although clearly too chaotic with the legal man thing going out the window like 8 mins in. The Aussie Open/FTR tag was better and one of my favorites of a stacked night. Just a terrific tag team between two teams who have amazing chemistry with each other. And then finally, we got an awesome main event, a 2/3 falls between Darby Allin and Christian Cage. This is a major grudge match with some big twists and turns, and some absolutely brutal bumps from a guy in Darby who's made a career of taking brutal bumps. This ending was great too, borrowing a play book from one of the great Dynamite TV matches of the year with Samoa Joe removing the tarp on the mat to reveal the wood underneath. And while there's a big twist ending to screw Darby out, the big debut of Edge sends the audience out on a high note. One of the best pro wrestling PPVs I ever seen."
[7.0] "Don't agree with that much of a high score as this PPV had some really weak spots but overall it's a good show with a few standout matches. Cope's run might have been underwhelming but his debut was really well executed. Overall this was a transition period for AEW and they did alright here."
"I've been defeated and brought down Oh, dropped to my knees when hope ran out Oh, the time has come to change my ways On this day I see clearly Everything has come to life A bitter place and a broken dream And we'll leave it all, leave it all behind Yeah I'll never long for what might have been And now regret won't waste my life again Oh, I won't look back, I'll fight to remain On this day I see clearly Everything has come to life A bitter place and a broken dream And we'll leave it all behind On this day, it's so real to me Everything has come to life Another chance to chase a dream 'Nother chance to feel Chance to feel alive Mmm-mmm-mmm Fear will kill me All I could be Lift these sorrows Let me breathe Could you set me free? Could you set me free? On this day I see clearly Everything has come to life A bitter place and a broken dream And we'll leave it all behind On this day, it's so real to me Everything has come to life Another chance to chase a dream 'Nother chance to feel Chance to feel alive"
[10.0] "AEW's WrestleDream 2023 ends up being an absolute masterpiece of a PPV. Great matches, great storylines, great moments. Great everything all around. A celebration of AEW x NJPW and the life of Antonio Inoki. We had matches like Darby vs. Cage, FTR vs. Aussie Open, Callis Family vs. Golden Lovers / Jericho, Danielson vs. Sabre Jr, Swerve vs. Hangman, Kingston vs. Shibata and a huge debut with Adam Copeland showing up. Overall, this will go down in history as an all-timer PPV and if you want to introduce someone to AEW, show them this show! [*****]"
[7.0] "Mostly really good but theres a few things dragging it down. The tag team four way was a truly terrible match, and the six man and Yuta/Starks were bad also. Everything else though? Good! Opening three were all good, setting the pace nicely, then Hangman/Swerve was match of the night and Danielson/ZSJ wasnt far behind at all. Both phenomenal matches, and the main event was also brilliant with a fantastic post match angle."
[10.0] "Excellent PPV, another incredible one for AEW in 2023, what a year they're having when it comes to pay-per-views, truly on a roll. This had some mediocre matches, specially at the beginning, but the event kept evolving and progressing, and it's truly a PPV of the year contender, what a show. Edge/Adam Copeland returning after that incredible main event was the icing on the cake, perfect event."
[10.0] "The handicap match was pretty bad and there were a few matches on the undercard as solid as they are, could've easily been left out, but Kingston Vs Shibata and FTR Vs Aussie Open are both really great, Don Callis Family Vs Jericho and Golden Lovers is fantastic, Hangman Vs Swerve, Cage Vs Allin two out of three falls and the AEW Debut of Adam Copeland are all really phenomenal and Bryan Vs ZSJ is just a masterpiece in wrestling. Overall AEW WrestleDream (2023) is a really phenomenal show."
[8.0] "Just a good PLE nothing unwatchable (or even particularly mediocre) with some strong highs (Swerve-Hangman, Danielson-ZSJ, Darby-Cage), but much more defined by some incredibly fun and unique matches (namely Eddie-Shibata, the Six-Man tag, and the aforementioned main event). Good times."
[7.0] "This was a pretty Average PPV in terms of in ring quality with no really five star classics in my opinion however there wasn't any bad matches just all the matches bar danielson and sabre jr and sweve hangman were average but adam copeland debuting was a great moment 6/10"
[9.0] "9. I was there live and had the time of my life, but I am basing my review on the PPV broadcast. I had four matches rated **** or higher and five more matches rated at least ***. The only one I rated below *** was the opener between MJF and The Righteous (which really feels like it belongs on an entirely different show). Consistently top-level wrestling once you get past the opener, logical booking choices throughout, and of course the night ends on a high note with a fantastic main event and Adam Copeland's debut."
[8.0] "A pretty cool PPV, like really cool, with great matches, a heartfelt tribute to a legend who has passed, and a surprising debut that marked the end of the show. It had a strong chance of being the best AEW show of the year, but the excess of filler and uninteresting matches ruined much of the viewing experience, making it tiresome. However, we did get one of the best technical wrestling matches in history with Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr."
[7.0] "all tho i do think this is a good show i don'tthink as good as people say it is, other than the opener match wich i think was horrible i don't think there is a bad match, but that doesn't mean the other matches were all classics, the matches people often talk about in this show are good but are a pilot for a bigger matvh for example bryan vs ZSJ or swerve vs hangman, the main event was fun but other than those matches the other ones were forgettable."
[7.0] "In my opinion, the overall rating of the show is overrated. Even looking at the ratings for the matches, you can see that they are mostly lower than usual at AEW shows. I can't say the wrestling was bad, it wasn't, but a number of the matches were clearly unnecessary and dragged the show down. In addition, the main match that everyone advertised was not a significant event for me. The only thing I liked was the ending of the show and some really powerful fights. But overall I rate the show a 7/10"
[10.0] "Is this biased because this was my first live AEW show (yes)? I love this show. As much as the righteous were buried, MJF had the crowd in the palm of his hand and he was great. Everything afterwards was great but especially the Danielson Sabre Jr. match. I can barely recall it because I think I blacked out from how much fun I was having? It was just pure excitement and adrenaline. They proved that you can have a technical showcase while also being interesting to a live crowd. Overall the show was amazing and had maybe the second best PPV enders of the year for AEW."
[9.0] "The first part of the show was pretty mid but after Swerve vs. Page the quality of the matches got better and there were even two five star classics: MJF vs. The Righteous was the worst opener possible. The Righteous aren't very good in the ring and their gimmicks are already have been seen before. MJF used some of this trademark offense but it wasn't good enough to save the match. Shibata vs. Kingston was alright but I was a bit let down by this match. Hart vs. Statlander was decent mainly because of the closing stretch. Hart has great character work but she is still green in the ring and Statlander was below her usual level, too. Overall enjoyable but nothing special. The tag team four way was another dissapointment, it was too messy and something just never clicked with it. Also the Young Bucks winning was a terrible choice, The Gunns should've won. Page vs. Swerve was tremendous. Great win for Swerve on a Pay-Per-View. Starks vs. Yuta was the bathroom break of the show but it was still solid. Danielson vs. ZSJ was the best technical match of all time: a masterpiece that will go down in the history of this sport. Don Callis Family vs. Omega, Ibushi & Jericho was very fun and excting. I had a really good time watching it. Aussie Open vs. Ftr was, perhaps, the biggest let down of the night: it wasn't bad but it wasn't the classic I was expecting. I don't know but something just felt off maybe it was because the crowd was tired or because both Davis and Wheeler suffered injuries during the match but I don't know. Christian vs. Allin was simply perfect: the steel stairs spots were horrifying, the frog splash on the stratcher was crazy and the part on the exposed ring was awesome. And Nick Wayne turning on Darby costing him the match was done brillantly despite being predictable. In the post-match Adam Copeland/Edge made his debut. One of the greatest moments in Aew's history by far. Overall: the first four match drag this show down a lot and a couple of matches didn't have to on the card but there were two MOTYc and Page vs. Swerve that was amazing so it was a great show. Plus it had a fantastic ending."
[10.0] "Two matches of the year, three phenomenal matches other than those, and the right people won almost every match. What more could you want from a ppv?"
[6.0] "Overrated and not without some real boredom our outright bad stuff, but admittedly still quite good overall. MJF vs The Righteous was the exact sort of cheesy, early-00s-WWF-style pantomime I expected, where everything was over-done to the point of insult. It didn't help that The Righteous are absolute dorks. **. Kingston vs Shibata was quite good. Shibata looked great all around, and Kingston was actually quite decent for a surprisingly long time before gassing out and becoming sloppy/weak. This resulted in some pretty physical exchanges and spots, though they also had some pretty generic and cheesy trades and "fighting-spirit" displays. ***1/4. Statlander vs Julia was very mediocre with very basic exchanges and spots with minimal chemistry, constant over-telegraphing, and almost every interaction feeling disconnected from the next/last. Statlander kept this together, since Julia was clearly exposed for how awkward and unathletic she is. **1/2. The 4-way tag was an alright spotfest but definitely quite overkill and mostly nothing we haven't seen many times before. The pure action was still okay for the most part. Hook's suplexes and judo moves as well as the Gunns' entertaining heel work and brutish beatdown work were actually the match's clear highlights. A shame Fenix left super early, and a shame the Bucks won despite being noticeably sloppy. **3/4. Page vs Swerve was heavily overrated but really good nonetheless. Both had good arrogant character work as well as good chemistry and some impressively physical and athletic spots. Their 50/50 trades/counters felt rather rushed and unnatural but were at least all well-executed and featured a nice mix of their styles. Despite them having some really good ideas and technique, I never found any of it truly special, with their occasionally underwhelming selling and pacing, their occasional over-cooperation, and the interference finish all holding this back. ***1/2. Starks vs Yuta was very forgettable. They had some decent brawling and technical work, but Yuta is still so bland and lacking in real intensity/power. At least Starks had good energy, was somewhat flashy, and was quite charismatic, though his selling was a bit goofy at times, and this was still a pretty underwhelming just because of Yuta being a total non-entity and there being no real story/build. **1/2. Danielson vs Sabre was certainly no classic but definitely a purely great match. Heavily technical-based matches have a lower ceiling for me, but I still managed to love all the many creative and slick counters and transitions here, especially because of their realistic displays of athleticism and physicality. Their oneupmanship game was very engaging, and I really liked both guys trying to work around their respective injuries and selling them very consistently. They were a bit too 'cute' at times with their rapid run-on counters and stand-offs, but their chemistry and individual technique was undeniably impeccable. Easy MOTN. ****. The 6-man tag was unsurprisingly pretty good. Ospreay and Takeshita's athleticism and explosiveness were very impressive, while Omega and Ibushi were much less impressive but still solid enough in their roles. Sammy was pretty good as the athletic and slimy daredevil, and even Jericho was actually okay with his stuff. They did all get a bit cheesy and nonsensical at times but made up for that with a number of pretty cool run-on spots and exchanges, and there were a surprising number of twists and turns in the final 1/3rd. ***1/4 - ***1/2. FTR vs Aussie Open was totally alright and totally forgettable. Good fundamentals and tag work from FTR, and some decent 'work-rate' stuff from AO. They unfortunately got a bit sloppy and never felt to have a true 'direction', never resulting in anything especially exciting or interesting. ***. Christian vs Darby had good ideas but a bad structure. Darby was naturally very exciting and sympathetic, while Christian was enjoyably aggressive and tricky. Darby's comebacks were always very fun, and Christian's responding cut-offs were always enjoyably deflating to make Darby even more sympathetic. Their 'bodyslam off the apron onto the stairs' spot was absolutely brutal, though Christian's top-rope splash onto Darby on the stretcher was underwhelming. I was disappointed to see them go REALLY overkill once they exposed the ring boards, though Darby's great babyface-selling and Christian's dastardly character work kept it all engaging. Both Wayne's heel-turn and especially Edgam's debut were almost entirely expected but still got strong reactions, though they definitely botched Edgam's reveal by not simply hitting his iconic music and having him enter. Pretty good match overall but definitely not without issues. ***1/4 - ***1/2"
[10.0] "Easily one of the best PPV AEW's ever offered. Swerve/Page and Danielson/ZSJ were top notch matches. The ROH Tag match being a comedy match was a bit of a letdown after believing Cole would be a part of it just a couple weeks earlier, but it was fine for what it was. Highly recommended."
[10.0] "Great PPV With amazing matches like Bryan Danielson vs ZSJ. Main Event was higher than my expectations. Now Christian Cage is the best heel in pro wrestling. And the ending of ppv almost got me a heart attack. Thank you tony khan for a great event again."
[9.0] "WrestleDream was a great show (not the best of the year), very good matches, a classic on the card and the debut of Adam "Edge" Copeland, which will be the moment that will remain forever from this show. MJF vs. The Righteous: they turned the ROH Tag belts into a joke after this match, the result was never in question because neither of the two idiots would pin the world champion, a comical match that could necessarily be in a Rampage (**1/2). Eddie vs. Shibata: great demonstration of strong style from both, living up to the tribute to Antonio Inoki that the show set out to do (***3/4). Kris vs. Julia: match that surprised me, normally these matches for the TBS Title are very lazy and boring (like the entire AEW women's division), but this one was something else, far from being a classic, but it was a really cool match (***1/2). 4 Way Tag: a really fun spotfest that the worst thing was the result (****1/4). Swerve vs. Page: big win for Swerve to move up the card, the crowd was great in this match (****1/4). Starks vs. Yuta: good technical demonstration from both, I don't think this match should be on the PPV, especially since it's just a continuation of the Starks vs. Danielson feud (***). Danielson vs. ZSJ: MOTN, a classic delivered by these two, the pinnacle of technical wrestling and the only reason it wasn't perfect was because it didn't end in submission, but apparently there was a hook for a rematch (****3/4). 6 man tag: super fun match with great moments especially involving the Golden Lovers, the ending was pretty bad, but the match itself was great (****1/2). FTR vs. Aussie Open: not that this match was bad, but it was very disappointing, they put so much emphasis on the classic that took place at Royal Quest II and this one doesn't do justice to that match and what these two teams can deliver (****), Christian vs. Darby: Christian's heel work was phenomenal and consequently the best thing about this match (***)"
[9.0] "A really good show overall. Entertaining main event with some pretty extreme spots, and of course set up the memorable debut of the former Edge. Danielson vs ZSJ and Swerve vs Hangman were also major standouts, Kingston vs Shibata was a good hard-hitting affair, FTR vs Aussie Open was a good if slightly overlong Tag Title match, and the four-way tag and Jericho/Golden Lovers vs Callis Family were solid if characteristic matches for their participants. Statlander vs Hart was good and the best match Julia Hart has had so far; hopefully a sign of more to come from her. MJF vs Righteous was the match I'm most divided on - MJF was entertaining and you have to give props for somebody getting a bodyslam over as an anticipated move in 2023, but the way the match was structured comes out as pretty much a burial for the Righteous - MJF should have cheated more to escape with the win (and yes, that could have worked even if he currently leans face). Starks vs Yuta was OK but kind of a filler match, and IMO should've been swapped out with the Claudio vs Barnett pre-show match, which is worth seeing and would have been deserving of an undercard slot on the main show. Nitpicks aside this is probably the strongest yet in string of very strong AEW PPVs that began with this year's Forbidden Door."
[9.0] "it was hard for me to rate the show! I was comparing it to the All Out, and honestly, I enjoyed All Out a bit more than WrestleDream. but everything went perfect plus edge return, which was the Ice on the Cake! let's get to the star rating: MJF vs. The Righteous (**) - Eddie Kingston vs. Katsuyori Shibata (***1/4) - Julia Hart vs. Kris Statlander (***1/4) - #1 Contendership Four Way Match (***1/2) - Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland (****) - Ricky Starks vs. Wheeler Yuta (***1/2) - Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (****1/4) - The Don Callis Family vs. Golden Lovers & Chris Jericho (****3/4) - FTR vs. Aussie Open (****) - Christian Cage vs. Darby Allin (****1/2) ."
[9.0] "MJF vs The Righteous: It was an okay match, with MJF holding his own against two opponents on his own, but could have been better quality to be honest, there were a few entertaining moments, and the bodyslam on Dutch was the highlight of the match, MJF winning was a surprise [**1/2]. Eddie Kingston vs Katsuyori Shibata: An enjoyable hard hitting match, with some nice tributes to Antonio Inoki, my only complaint would be that it should have been given more time, they did what they could in the time that they had [***3/4]. Kris Statlander vs Julia Hart: A good back and forth match, with a good mix of styles with the agility of Julia Hart and the power of Kris Statlander made for an interesting watch, Kris Statlander winning and ending the match win streak of Julia Hart was a surprise [***1/4]. The Young Bucks vs The Gunns vs Hook & Orange Cassidy vs The Lucha Brothers: A match that should have been given more time, but still worth a watch, all four teams managed to showcase their wrestling skills which were good to see, Rey Fenix being out for most of the match was not good but at least Penta El Zero Miedo managed to hold his own, The Young Bucks winning was good and cannot wait to see The Young Bucks vs FTR 4 [****]. Adam Page vs Swerve Strickland: A great classic match, some cool but brutal at times moments, they pushed each other to the limits and the result was definitely a match that is a must watch, Prince Nana getting ejected was good to see after blatanly getting involved [****1/2]. Ricky Starks vs Wheeler Yuta: A decent match, but with this quality would have been better suited on Dynamite not a PPV, but Jon Moxley on commentary was funny [**3/4]. Bryan Danielson vs Zack Sabre Jr: What a match that defines the term 'Dream Match', great technical wrestling from both and some hard hitting action as well made for a great viewing, Danielson overcame adversity within the 23 minute match to outshine ZSJ and win the match, easily recommend watching it [*****]. The Don Callis Family vs Chris Jericho & The Golden Lovers: Really good and enjoyable trios match, all six involved gave their best and it showed [****1/4] .FTR vs Aussie Open: A match that delievered but not of the same level as their previous encounter last year but still a classic match, FTR winning was nice to see and cannot wait for the YB vs FTR IV match [****1/2]. Christian Cage vs Darby Allin: A decent 2 out of 3 falls match that was brutal at times and it looked like the match was gonna end prematurely at times when Christian Cage slammed Darby Allin onto the steel steps and the betrayal of Nick Wayne when he hit Darby Allin was shocking and the post match debut of Adam Copeland was shocking to see, a watch worthy match [****1/2]"
"Such a great PPV. Zack Sabre Jr./Bryan Danielson was a MOTY contender, really liked the Swerve/Hangman match. I hope that this PPV will launch a new wave at AEW with more focus put on middle/long-term storylines to build PPV without trying to just throw in some random matches. Danielson MUST have a run as World Champ before retiring."
[6.0] "Needed a little bit more juice from the bigger matches, and for others to not fall flat as they did. Kingston/Shibata had too much respect, the six-man had a clunky finish, FTR/AO became a slog, and the main event bailed on a spot that would've made highlight reels for years. Swerve vs Page earned the build it had, and ZSJ/Danielson was the technical dream match it was advertised as, but could've been a true wrestling dream match. The women's match was a letdown, and I hope Statlander doesn't take the blame. The Adam Copeland debut was excellent, but there were more deserving crowds of that moment."
[8.0] "Very good card. There were some great matches on the card. The biggest and best match for me was the Bryan Vs ZSJ match, it was an awesome technical masterpiece between the two best technical wrestlers of all time. Other than the Bryan ZSJ match, Hangman Vs Swerve and the main event were also great matches. There wasn't a single bad match on the card but the arrangement of the card top to bottom could have been done better. Putting multiple 20+ matches at the end kind of dragged the pace even though the matches weren't bad. Overall, it was a very good show but not quite great. MOTN : Bryan Vs ZSJ (*****)."
[7.0] "Ill start off with the good points, the 3 big singles matches on this show delivered (ZSJ vs BD, Darby vs Cage, Swerve vs Page) and they definitely helped the ppv feel more worthwhile. Edge making his debut at the end was a typical TK move and one that gets fans excited and will hopefully lead to some better ppv sales for full gear. This PPV really suffered from being right after all in & all out, especially being another 4 hour event with a 1 hour preshow (thats Wrestlemania length). I know TK wants every show to have value for money, but I get burnt out with these long shows, especially when theres at least 3 matches you could easily have cut and put on TV instead. The other big sticking point is the poor womens booking as they only had 1 match which went less than 10 mins, I thought Kenny was taking a hands on approach and fixing this women's division? Goes to show just how good these EVPs are, which speaking of, why are the young bucks tag contenders while being 6 man tag champs and why does nick jackson also have singles title shot too, its a bit much and comes across like theyre booking themselves the second CM Punk goes. Overall I think TK did a solid job and if all the monthly ppvs are this quality I'd be happy, but please make them shorter if youre going to run so many in short succession, it even makes the matches that do make it on feel more prestigious when theyre not lumped in with TV fodder."
[9.0] "Much like All Out, this show started a little weak, but absolutely killed it in the second half. We opened with MJF defending the ROH Tag Team Titles in a handicap match against the Righteous. This was a fun match, that allowed MJF to hit most of his entertaining face spots. It's just too bad that Adam Cole is hurt so we didn't get the DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE. We then saw Eddie Kingston defend both his ROH World Title and his New Japan Strong Openweight Title against Katsuyori Shibata in a match that was better than it had any right to be. It will always be uncomfortable watching Shibata wrestle after his injury, but this was enjoyable nonetheless. It might have been better if Eddie was only defending the ROH Title, though. New Japan have been pretty clear that they aren't comfortable taking the risk of having Shibata wrestle for them, so there was no way that he was leaving with their title. Kris Statlander then defended her TBS Title against Julia Hart in another very good match. I don't think this was Hart's best match, but it was close. We then got a four way for the Number 1 Contendership to the Tag Team Titles as the Young Bucks took on the Gunns, the Lucha Brothers, and Hook and Orange Cassidy in another very good match. We then got Swerve Strickland vs. Adam Page in a match that I briefly rated a perfect 10 until the Bryan Danielson/Zack Sabre Jr. match raised the bar so high that I had to knock this one down to a 9. We then Cooled things off a bit as Rick Starks faced Wheeler Yuta in a good match that probably didn't quite deserve to be on pay-per-view. We then got the aforementioned Danielson/Sabre match and it was one of the best matches that I've ever seen. Following that, The Don Callis Family took on Chris Jericho and the Golden Lovers in a very good match. I was impressed with how well everyone worked together. FTR were up next, defending their Tag Team Titles against Aussie Open in a fantastic match. This was the most that I've ever enjoyed Aussie Open. Finally, Christian Cage took on Darby Allin in another match that would have gotten a 10 on a night that did not contain the Danielson/Sabre match."
[8.0] "A very solid show yes but worthy of a 9 or a 10 not in my opinion no the card was way to bloated and the show felt like it went on for ages no real bad matches with the main event being the match of the night for me the debut of Adam Copeland was amazing but as a Ppv as a whole a good show just not the best in my opinion."
[8.0] "I'm not sure this show has to be this long considering that AEW is going with more PPVS now, but it was definitely worth a watch with three killer matches, and it also had some good stuff in between, although nothing else was great, thats fine when you have three killer matches. Swerve/Page had a great dynamic, and both guys killed their roles. Bryan/ZSJ was a technical masterpiece that felt like a struggle and was also filled with tons of great strikes. Christian/Darby was great with Christian doing his thing, and Darby bumped his ass off for him plus Edge debuted after the match which was really cool. The good stuff was Kingston/Shibata outside of the annoying spots, Kris/Julia, and FTR/Aussie Open. Starks/Yuta was decent although a nice change of pace compared to the backend of the card. MJFs match was a nice crowd-pleasing match, and the six-man tag was decent although it never seemed to end. The only thing I really didnt like was the 4-man tag. Overall this was a great show, although not as consistent as All Out."
[9.0] "My gut tells me to give this a 9/10, even though in-ring this show is on par with other recent shows I've given the full 10 to. I can't really find fault with the show (besides the opener, which didn't impact my enjoyment of the rest of the show), and it even featured a memorable ending with Edge's debut. It could just be fatigue from AEW putting on three big PPVs in just over a month, all of which were great in my book. It's honestly unprecedented to have this many great shows in such a short timespan."
"Great show. It started a bit slow but picked up midway through. The Danielson/Sabre Jr. was a great technical masterclass. The main event was great and the debut of Adam Copeland was a nice cherry on top. Im excited to see what he does in AEW. I give the show a solid 9/10"
[10.0] "I loved this. The only match that didn't make sense was Starks vs Yuta but the rest was amazing and good Jesus EDGE IS ALL ELITE. It was the candy on a magnificent cake that is one of the best things you 'll see this year. Perfect, nothing to say, near to make me break the scale. *****"
[7.0] "Took a while to warm up, but last 4-5 matches on the card were superb (ignoring Starks/Yuta which was good but a bit lost in the shuffle). However, the MJF match leaves a really sour taste when all is said and done. For me, that was bad enough to prevent this being an 8 or 9."
[7.0] "I thought this was another solid outing from AEW but it was not a great memorial for Inoki in my opinion. Alot of the matches were just there and I couldn't get invested into them much but they were all pretty great. The 2 matches you need to go watch from this card is Bryan vs Zach and Christian vs Darby. It's so amazing Christian can still go like that at his age. I have no idea how this show has so many 10's because it certainly wasn't. Still a good show though with a fun ending."
[9.0] "Very good start with the great champion MJF and The Righteous; rudeness in its entirety with Shibata and Kingston, excellent match; fabulous match by Statlander and Hart, increases prestige for the TBS championship; very good match from Young Bucks, The Gunns, Penta & Fenix and Hook & Cassidy; a wonderful match that every wrestling fan must see, excellent match on the part of Page and Strickland; a very common match from Ricky Starkz and Wheeler Yuta; pure Technical Wrestling with Danielson and Saber Jr., a great match that every Wrestling connoisseur should see; nice match with a slightly dubious ending from Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Kota Ibushi, Sammy Guevara, Will Ospreay and Takeshita; terrible penultimate match, FTR is already boring; REAL Wrestling definitely won, Edge is AEW, Christian and Allin had a fabulous match."
[10.0] "An outstanding showcase for AEW as they continue to get back on the tracks from good to great professional wrestling. I always have a hard time grappling (no pun intended) of how to rate PPVs given length, variability of talents and match layouts, story arches and/or new storylines, and overall in-ring quality. So, I often allow my emotional appeal to the event to tug my ratings. In this case, Wrestledream reinvigorated my excitement in being a wrestling fan and made me immediately look forward to the next shows. From the dream match, to Hanger and Swerve, and the main event, to name just a few, everyone involved in the final product brought it here. The ending of this show was just the cherry on top to solidify this show as a 10 for me."
[9.0] "This is now the 4th consecutive incredible PPV that AEW have put on since Forbidden Door. Just bangers on bangers for the whole night, and while it didn't have the great pacing that Forbidden Door or All Out had, the high points on this show are higher than perhaps any other AEW show this year. Swerve vs Hangman, Danielson vs ZSJ, Christian vs Darby and Edge's AEW debut all on one show. Absolutely wild, what a fucking show."
[8.0] "Highpoints were ZSJ/Danielson, Swerve/Hangman and Darby/Cage which were just excellent pro wrestling all in very different ways which is exactly what I want in a big show. The MJF stuff was utterly dire and he has serious go away heat with me, just pathetic. Everything else was good to very good. I am not convinced by Adam Copeland but his debut was exciting."
[3.0] "This PPV has one of the worst first bunch of matches I have ever seen. Like seriously, I wanted to drop watching it completely after the first four horrendously bad contests. The fifth one was Swerve vs Page that also was very disappointing and Wheeler Yuta having the best match of the night so far really speaks volumes. Then thank God for Danielson vs Sabre that absolutely knocked it out of the park and I finally felt alive here. 6-Man Tag gave me hope for the first part of it but then made me feel miserable again and at least FTR vs Aussie Open delivered and I had an actual fun watching this. The main event was okay but with Jimmy Uso type of a turn and of course Edge's debut happened, but I'm not as hyped as other people after his recent WWE run. After All Out I had positive attitude for this PPV, but it quickly went back to the All In dirt levels."
[8.0] "This PPV started out slow up to the Swerve vs Adam match which was a great match, an ok match with Starks Yuta, a great match between Danielson vs Saber Jr (MOTN), 2 good matches with ^ man Tag and FTR vs Aussie Open. Then we finish with just Cage trying to kill Darby in the final match. Complete with the betrayal from Wayne and of course Edge showing up to finish the show to come to the aid of Darby and Sting. I honestly did not think Edge would go to AEW with how well WWE has treated him. I mean he was the face of WWE for most his career there. Now pretty much anything can happen."
[10.0] "An outstanding show capped off by the best conclusion in AEW since the return of Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson at All Out 2021. Match for match this one tops maybe every other PPV this year. What it may lack compared to this year's All Out or Revolution (the year's two best AEW PPVs) is their ingenius pacing. FTR/AO is very unfortunately placed on the card, and there's maybe more fillers than I prefer, but I enjoyed this beginning to end."
[10.0] "Looked great on paper and did not disappoint. Zack Sabre Jr vs. Bryan Danielson was a tremendous technical wrestling match. Swerve vs. Hangman was a great big match feel. Julia Hart vs. Kris Statlander was great, Julia has come so far. The main event was a brutal match, and the debut at the end was perfectly done."
[9.0] "This PPV was fucking amazing, and what AEW is managing to achieve should be a case study. The run of PPVs they've been having after the mediocre DoN it's been marvelous, so I hope they can keep up this pace with Full Gear and the eventual december PPV. Just as it happened with Forbidden Door and All Out, the card had three highly praised matches, one of them being a MOTYC. On the other hand, the Edge debut was pulled perfectly despite being so much predictable. If this is the standard of the "new era" they've been announcing, I hope they can mantain the momentum and quality on display."
[8.0] "This felt like an "8.5" event for me, but I'll round down to avoid grade inflation. The back half of the PPV (basically from Swerve/Hangman onward) was fantastically worked by all the wrestlers. I'd also like to applaud the layout of the matches, which built effectively toward a crescendo in the main event. There was a slight peak/valley situation with Starks/Yuta following the mega-hot Swerve/Hangman match, but otherwise the night built toward the big matches/angles in an effective way. The debut of Adam Copeland was handled very well, and felt like a big deal. I also thought the lack of hardcore spots throughout the rest of the show ensured that the shocking spots in the main event felt like big deals. Apart from the Main Event, Danielson/Sabre Jr and Swerve/Hangman matches were standouts. I also quite liked the Statlander/Hart match."
