[6.0] "Some light and easy fun in this show. Nothing too elaborated, but we follow up the fresh start RAW had after SummerSlam with this one. Io Shirai is the new Champion and puts the top women on notice (badly executed idea interrupting the match). I don't get why making Santos the number one contender and beat the champion clean if you're going to give the title to Rey anyways. I don't remember reading about Santos being injured, so the only thing that would make this have sense is a future betrayal, which would be the wrong thing to do since it will mean throwing all what you build with Legado and Rey down the sewage. The good thing is the reign of Theory is over. What a really bad reign. The only really good match I recall from that reign is the one with Seth Rollins in the first RAW of the year. But this didn't make Theory any better, as he always survived his matches instead of winning them. The title match beign so short was some sort of karma coming to Theory for trying to avoid Santos (that was some good storytelling actually). Then we have some minutes with LA Knight following up his good momentum, a closing segment that, while it was greatly delivered as always, it all feels so forced now. Jimmy has some understandable motivations, whether you agree or not with them, for betraying Jey and it's something they've been building up for some time if you pay close attention to the story after The Usos betray Roman. And Jey quitting is a bit random. And then we have the best moment of the show, the surprising Edge return with his real speech about how Sheamus made him believe he could return to the ring, and the talk they had in the ring. WWE is going to pay homage to Edge, but Edge is paying homage to Sheamus not just because he is one of the greatest WWE superstars of the last two decades, maybe one of the greatests ever, but because he is his friend, and if he is going to have a last rodeo in the company, who better than him to go for it. Really good segment between both men (and I loved Edge calling "Butch" PETE. I hope they end that Butch crap soon and finallly bring the Bruiserweight back in complete form)."

[7.0] "Good show , not match wise but promo wise . The worst match was La Knight vs Top Dolla , it really didn't need to be on the card and was only on the card to get Knight a win which to be fair he needs. The best match was Rey vs Theory , for two minutes it was a fun match and Rey winning the title , which will probably be his last us title reign was a good moment. The promo that was the best was the main event , the intrigue of Jey leaving wwe adds to the show , even though this is a Kayfabe exit for a couple of months. Jey will be hot and over when he comes back , this is good for him , also the Canada tour is going on so that also stops him. Match ratings Asuka vs Charlotte 5/10 , Styles vs Kross 5/10, Dolla vs Knight 5/10 , Rey vs Theory 7/10."

[7.0] "Matches for the show were not impressive to me but the segments on the show were good. Charlotte v Asuka was good but below expectations of these two and the interference ending did not help. Styles and Kross just had another underwhelming match in an underwhelming feud. All the rest of the matches were short. The things that saved the show were the segments. Edge and Sheamus had a great segment. The segments with Theory attacking Escobar were good but I am not sure about Rey winning the championship."

[3.0] "This is way overrated it was quite a bad episode : 23 minutes of wrestling on a 2 hours show is unacceptable, the opener was a complete waist of time, no one wants to see Karrion Kross on TV, Santos fake injury was weird the dude was cleared to compete but he can't get up after one chop block, and the US champ lost his belt in a 2 minutes match after 250 days of reign... hell even the bloodline segment was not as good as usual"

[6.0] "this SmackDown is good with edge will going up against sheamus and jey uso quitting promo and jimmy marking fun of roman and rey winning title from theory is better for theory futue so he can get some time off but other things are ok to bad Category with being worst was asuka vs Charlotte"

[5.0] "I found this episode of Smackdown rather unbalanced. The opening Asuka-Flair and AJ Style-Kross matches were nice and enjoyable even if there are some negative points. Edge's promo was touching, but I found it a little long. But it was still nice to set the scene and find out what was going on backstage. La Knight's match was rushed, but useful to show that he's moved up the ladder. Austin Theory's match, however, was incomprehensible. Bringing up a hated champion for months, grooming a challenger for weeks, and then ending up doing none of that and giving the title to Rey Mysterio out of nothing and with a very short match... It feels like either really bad decisions or a last minute change of plan. Finally, the sequence with the Bloodline seemed pathetic to me. Jimmy Uso's explanations of the events at Summerslam are understandable, but it's so poorly presented, confusing and lame. I almost felt like Jey Uso at the end: enough is enough!"

[9.0] "the cope is crazy. people here will literally remain STEADFAST, even with as clearcut of an explanation as we got on last night's smackdown, that the finish to roman v jey was terrible. that being said, fantastic smackdown. very promo heavy, but in wrestling promos are just as important as matches so if match-heavy shows can be great, promo-heavy shows can be great. congrats to rey on the win, great sd."

[3.0] "Terrible Smackdown. Hardly any wrestling and a severe lack of entertaining angles. The things I did like: the Edge and Sheamus promo setting up their match next week. Iyo showing off just because she can (which unfortunately led to a match DQ so I can't even enjoy it fully). Rey Mysterio dethroning Theory (which also unfortunately happened in a match so short that I can't even rate it). Endless ads and stalling, and the Bloodline promo to close the show off was extremely eye rolling and uninteresting. Oddly enough tho, if they are are halting on this Bloodline stuff, I think the show could actually drastically improve. But overall this was just very boring television with not enough time give to the actual wrestling"
Freezing Moon wrote on 12.08.2023:
"I'm not gonna rate it because I don't watch WWE so that would be unfair. However, I think there should be not excuse for having less than 25 minutes of wrestling in a two-hour wrestling show. How anyone can think this is decent or justifiable is beyond me."

[9.0] "I Found this one of the most entertaining smackdowns in a long time, last week was terrible and they recovered it this week, the promos and the storytelling was great rey mysterio becoming an champion was unexpected and so good to see, even the bloodline stuff was watchable, very weak on ring skill but sensational overall."

[7.0] "This was a very promo heavy Smackdown but it was entertaining. LA Knight continues to be over and him calling Top Dolla Uncle Phil makes me laugh every time. The Bloodline promo again was awesome. The story of the night of Austin Theory not wanted to defend and losing his ttile to Rey Mysterio was good. I am hoping to Rey vs Santos for the title. The womens match was good but i dont need to see Charlotte and Asuka int he same ring for a long time."

[5.0] "This episode of smack down wasnt great to say the least. The fact that only 2 matches could be rated was a big red flag. Its called a wrestling show for a reason. Give us quality matches not promos and squash matches. Theory needed the title off of him but not in 2 minutes. Ending a year long title reign like that is absolutely wild. The bloodline segment honestly was alright but it seemed like the same old stuff."
rgpick wrote on 12.08.2023:
"I suppose it's fine if you don't really need wrestling on your wrestling show. Not even 20% of the show was wrestling going off the timings here. A very scary show overall. The explanation for the interference in Tribal Combat was very lacking for me and there was no explanation why family interference was allowed when that was specifically NOT allowed per the stipulation. WWE continues to throw logic out the window."
HarryKane wrote on 12.08.2023:
"The atmosphere and crowd during the show showed moments of fervor and engagement and saved the majority of the episode, while at times, it may have seemed somewhat subdued, though still the highlight throughout. The standout segment of the night undoubtedly was the Bloodline saga, which took a turn, keeping the audience invested after a mediocre display in SummerSlam. While a few other storylines did progress, they didn't quite unfold in an incredibly astonishing manner as the Main event did. From a production standpoint, the execution was well-handled, although there wasn't a distinct theme that threaded through the episode. In summary, this episode presented a blend of positive aspects with some areas that could have been elevated further to create an even more engaging product."

"This episode of SmackDown turned out to be quite satisfying overall. The matches showcased were certainly enjoyable, and what added an unexpected layer of excitement was the surprising twist in the ongoing Bloodline storyline. Instead of Jimmy making a complete return, he intriguingly revealed that his actions were driven by the intention to prevent Jey from following a similar path as Roman. Undoubtedly, this segment stood out as the undeniable highlight of the entire night. However, there were some mixed points in the episode. While the matches presented were decent and showcased the wrestlers' talents, there was a sense that none of them managed to attain that extraordinary level of greatness. The structural organization of the show was commendable, although a potential issue arose with a title change occurring just before the climactic Bloodline segment. This unintentionally seemed to diminish some of the grandeur that the main event deserved. Overall a fine show."

[8.0] "This was a very good Smackdown with a range of stories, and some great swerves and surprises. A good opener with the women led into a match-long thread with Theory and Escobar. There was a nice surprise Edge appearance for a great segment with Sheamus. A good Styles and Kross match hopefully put that feud to bed and we got an obligatory LA Knight roll over of Top Dolla. The swerve of having Mysterio take the injured Escobars place and FINALLY end Theorys reign was awesome. The Bloodline segment was a positive swerve away from what was expected. Jeys Im out keeps the intrigue alive. Theyve surely got to start building Solo back up as a beast he has taken a whooping lately. The three man commentary team seemed to work well too. All round solid post-PLE show"

[6.0] "A show that boils down to The Bloodline, Rey Mysterio's surprise United States Champion, LA Knight doing a squash, little else. Really, it's a bittersweet show, not that entertaining due to the absurd filler with The Bloodline that hogs the whole show."
RoseySplash97 wrote on 12.08.2023:
[5.0] "Less than 30 minutes of wrestling on the entire show and none of the matches were anything to write home about. They did try to explain the Russo-esque Uso turn at Summerslam and the closing segment was decent but the show felt very long. LA Knight getting a squash win was a highlight, and at least they've got the US title off the ice cold and inauthentic Austin Theory."
Rocky7 wrote on 12.08.2023:
[5.0] "Twice as many fans at the Saddledome than AEW Collision last month, but that Collision episode, especially FTR/Bullet Club Gold, smoked this SmackDown out of the water. No good matches, the downturn of the Bloodline storyline with Jimmy Uso claiming he attacked Jey because he didn't want him to become Roman Reigns, and WWE realising how awful Karrion Kross and Austin Theory are. Was cool seeing Rey Mysterio win the US Title, but I was hoping for Santos Escobar, and I bet they'll turn him heel."

[7.0] "Decent Smackdown if you have to ask me and a lot happend, we might get IYO and Asuka, AJ Styles and Kross, fine match but Karrion should possibly go to NXT back, LA Knight being LA Knight, good promo of fella Sheamus and never too old Edge, bloodline story was fine, and the biggest thing that happend this night... Rey Mysterio winning the United States Championship... oh boy i cheered and im happy for Rey, I hope hell get an... atleast 100 days decent possibly last title run in his career"
Eli Knight wrote on 12.08.2023:
"Can't rate yet but I would give this show a good 6.5 to 7 out of 10. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. We saw Asuka vs Charlotte but it was interrupted by Damage CTRL which will be an interesting story. AJ defeated Karrion again and I hope this feud is over, honestly they should send him back to NXT or something but I do not care for Karrion. LA Knight got his moment to shine and I hope he gets a good feud for either the US Championship or something better than Hit Row. Rey defeating Austin was cool but I wanted LA Knight to be the new champ but I ain't gonna complain. I hope Bobby and The Street Profits get in a good faction feud, I'm glad Jey kicked Jimmy and can't wait to see where this is going. Sheamus vs Edge sounds legendary next week and I can't wait for RAW."

Also complete bullshit was Theory loosing his united states championship to Rey Mysterio in just a few minutes. Great moments of this smackdown was sheamus and edge promo and Iyo was shown great as a champ also they finally doing something with Kross."
LadySnowblood wrote on 12.08.2023:
[5.0] "The ending segment with the Bloodline was solid, but they are streching this story too much. Rey Mysterio won the US title, which is good. Theory gives me nothing. Edge came back and had a nice segment with Sheamus. None of the matches stood out. Karrion Kross is really bad in the ring and botched some moves. Just an ok shown this week."
Dune wrote on 12.08.2023:
[4.0] "Like most recent Smackdowns, this was rough up until the Bloodline segment. Commercials and undercooked feuds galore! Karrion Kross and AJ Styles continue one of the most underwhelming storylines of the year, which is nothing but a misuse of Styles' talent in his final years of performing. Austin Theory is finally stripped of his US Title to give a rub to young up-and-comer Rey Mysterio in a match so short it can't even be rated on Cagematch. But hey, they had LA Knight talk for 30 seconds after he squashed Hit Row, right? Oh, there was also an awkward Edge/Sheamus promo that went on for too long and made the crowd uncomfortably silent. Very strange, I don't know what to make of it other than I think it's setting up some sort of heel turn for Sheamus or the Brutes. The Bloodline segment, once you got the ~10 minutes of entrances, commercials, and silent pacing around the ring out of the way, delivered a pretty weak excuse as to why Jimmy betrayed Jey, but after Brock/Cody, I'm just happy we got an explanation in the first place. Thankfully, the ending was both unpredictable and exciting. "I Quit" angles are always fun. Who knows, maybe WWE will choose to do something truly creative and Jey can show up on a certain alternative company's show. The chances of that happening are slim to none, but it would be cool."
