2113.10.2024Quenthi39.0Well, that was a tremendous show ! There were no bad matches in fact, that made the show very enjoyable. Only thing I regret is the shortness of the show overall, if every matches had 1 or 2 minutes more it would have been perfect. What makes Wrestle Kingdom different from Wrestlemania is that they can have several 30 minutes matches in a single night, it didnt happen at this show while it would have been enjoyable, this is only expectation I had that has been disappointed, I expected Okada vs Danielson to be over 30 minutes and I expected the match for the IWGP tag team and STRONG Openweight tag team to be at least 20 minutes (this match was basically a rematch from last years World Tag league final which lasted 40 minutes, we didnt have a quarter of that duration at WK. Overall, it remains an excellent show, I dont miss the 2nd night, especially when the card is so damn good. Maybe theyll keep the formula for next year but 2 nights also allows to have more matches and see several more wrestlers in action.

3006.07.2024Okaro1438.0Very good Event. The card wasn't quite as heavily stacked and not as exciting for a Dome event as previous Wrestle Kingdom Events but they still did a good job in putting together a mostly solid undercard, we also crowned our very first IWGP global Champion in a very good semi main event, the Okada Danielson event was truly an excellent dream match that exceeded the Forbidden Door match, and while The main event didn't live up to expectations, the crowd went home happy seeing their guy on top of New Japan. In the 2010s, every match in the Dome felt like a big deal whether a tag match, a NEVER match, or whether the IC or US Title matches but it didn't feel like a big deal here even if the matches were solid to good. I think that New Japan should do a better job of building their guys especially rhe the ones who just graduated the dojo and have them familiarized in the main event stage, especially now that Ospreay and Okada are going away.
3106.07.2024WAKA Flockanoku8.0This was a very good show with a MOTY contender to start the year off. Still, I thought there were too many matches that ended up being disappointments for me to want to rate this any higher. Still an amazing show from New Japan though. [MOTN: Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada]

3324.06.2024RealGrapsThomsen10.0In my opinion, this is one of the best Wrestle Kingdoms and heavily underrated. The show had quite a few workers from AEW which most definitely benefited the show overall and some pretty good title changes.

4013.05.2024Judestar7.0No doubt a good show but its quality was capped by an uninspired card full of rematches. This needed more of Umino and Tsuji in bigger spots. The best thing I can say is that the top two matches delivered and had the right result.

4518.04.2024Pigeon Scratch9.0This is the first Wrestle Kingdom I've watched, with a friend of mine a couple days after it happened. In fact, this was my first experience with a full Japanese wrestling show, and I was beyond excited. I had no expectations asides from the reputation that WK has. Every match was on the spectrum of at least enjoyable to absolutely fantastic. The worst was House of Torture Vs. Kaito Kiyomiya & Shota Umino, which isn't surprising at all to say the least. The interference at the end ruined it, but the work itself was good. All the other tag team matches were great fun, the table spot was a personal highlight. Hiroshi Tanahashi Vs. Zack Sabre Jr. was great and memorable, Tama Tonga Vs. Shingo Takagi was a great match. Just a shame that he was planning on leaving just a month later. Really though, the last four matches are the absolute must watches of this show. The Junior Heavyweight match was really fantastic. I absolutely loved the Global Heavyweight Title, and would've been my choice for best match if it wasn't for Kazuchika Okada Vs. Bryan Danielson. One of the best matches I've seen of this year. And while the IWGP World Heavyweight Title Match wasn't as good as Okada Vs. Danielson, it was still a blast and a really good end to the show. Tetsuya Naito deserved the title, and SANADA looked amazing. Overall a fantastic show, and to think this is only considered a "good" Wrestle Kingdom is insane to me. I recommend it.

4903.04.2024Willie 192008.0Overall an amazing show, it had it's lows, but it also had Okada VS Danielson II and Tetsuya Naito winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. and when I mean lows I mean The House Of Torture match, every other match I enjoyed. Takahashi VS Desperado was not their best match against each other but still great, Tama VS Takagi was awesome, Finlay VS Mox VS Ospreay was great plus had the debut of Nic Nemeth FKA Dolph Ziggler. I wish the Tanahashi and Zack Sabre Jr. could have gone longer but it was still good. Also Guerrillas of Destiny and Catch 22 won gold, and Yuya got a much deserved win over Tsuji.

5425.02.2024SolomonBwei A good strong start to the year, which is to be expected from Wrestle Kingdoms. This may have worked better as a 2 nighter to give more time to the earlier bouts, a lot of them seemed to just finish out of nowhere, but it still worked well as it was. 8/10
5524.02.2024Visual Kei9.0I need to rate this objectively. I was there..live in JAPAN...in the fucking TOKYO DOME...of course this always will be the greatest wrestling event I ever attended! So its actually a 10. So many atmospheric and emotional feelings and memories I bond with this event. 1. *** (Seeing Taichi live was the first emotional breakout for me on this evening. Taichi plays a very very big part in my life.) 2. ***1/2 (Absolutely sick entrance from TJP. One of the best Ive ever witnessed; match could have been a bit better and longer though. Because of the gimmick change its ok that it went like it went.) 3. ***1/2 (surprising title change actually.) 4. ***1/2 (could have been a lot better.) 5. ***1/4 6. ****1/2 (unnecessary title change) 7. ***1/2 8. ***1/2 9. ****1/2 (awesome triple threat! ) 10. ****1/2 (but not the promoted match of the century 11. ***** [5 STARS]

5921.02.2024Bmccall0728.0Overall I really enjoyed the event, There were down parts such as the House of Torture nonsense but there many more great moments like the Global Heavyweight three way and Okada vs Danielson. There were a few good matches that might fly under the radar due to some of the really good ones that happened during the show, for example the Tsuji vs Uemura match. My favorite moment from the show was Naito finally getting his role call.
6020.02.2024Prince Osborne9.0Under the new guiding light, NJPW crushed the annual event in a mega shade of positives. Except for the Rambo open, all matches didn't overstay its welcome, which has been a recurring issue for a long. I'm glad that it was resolved quickly to enjoy Wrestle Kingdom better. New champions, a rock-solid undercard, and an exceptional audience in the Tokyo Dome, especially during the roll call, stood out as the hallmark moments. The magnanimous trilogy of main-event matches itself vouch for a revisit to this edition at any time given.
6108.02.2024JackStiofain7.0I really enjoyed this show especially as it exceeded my expectations. A lot of the matches went by at a brisk pace and all-in-all the final three matches really delivered. I'd give the show an average of 3.5 stars [or a 7/10 on this websites rating scale]. There were no real duds on this card other than the Rambo match at the beginning to kick of the KOPW title. I'd say the TV Champion title match went off very well with both wrestlers looking good and the show stealer would have to be the Takagi-Tonga match for the NEVER Openweight Title as I was not expecting such a great showing from Tonga but he thoroughly delivered. I'd say the same for the Global Heavyweight 3-way match. I almost never enjoy 3-ways and find it to be kind-of-a lazy booking angle but all three wrestlers more than delivered. And of course, you can never go wrong with Danielson or Okada and thoroughly enjoyed Naito being able to complete his story with a nice baby-face assist and send off for Sanada.

6828.01.2024jayro20068.0Wrestle Kingdom was an overall good show but not at the level I expect from what I consider the 2nd biggest wrestling show of the year. Match of the night for me was Okada/Danielson (8.5). Runner up for match of the night goes to the triple threat match (8.0). It was much better than I expected. Rounding out my top three matches was Tama/Shingo. I also really enjoyed Sabre/Tanahasi (7) and Uemura/Tsuji (7). The Junior Title match was good but nowhere near what these 2 can do together. The appearance by Nemeth was a nice surprise.

7220.01.2024cal90999.0Another excellent wrestle kingdom. The second half of the show really delivered in my opinion, and while SANADA and Naito didn't blow the roof off the place I think they had a match worthy of a WK main event. 9/10
7320.01.2024DanTalksRasslin8.0A characteristically strong WK event. Notably we get a great match between Okada and Danielson as Okada gets his win back (and undoubtedly sets up a rubber match between them). A good main event, too, with Naito finally winning the title over Sanada, even if his title win might be a few years late. Other good matches such as Despy vs Hiromu, the Finlay/Mox/Ospreay Global Title three-way and Tama vs Shingo. The rest of the card, too, featured solid matches with only the antics of the House of Torture in their match possibly serving - depending on your preferences - as a real lowlight. Good show throughout.

7517.01.2024YeastOfTheEast8.0A great WrestleKingdom although not in the all time best imo. Danielson/Okada was awesome and delivered on that dream Kingdom match feel. Takahashi/Desperado and Tana/Shingo were also good. Yuya/Tsuji was a nice look into the future. Triple threat wasnt for me but still a fun watch. Main event was a cool and Naito getting his moment at the end wrapped up a great night.
7617.01.2024packjutney9.0The first WK I've actually stayed up for and watched through completion, and it didn't disappoint at all. Standouts were ZSJ/Tana, Yuya/Tsuji, Shingo/Tama, and the entire back half of the card. Bryan and Okada killed it as you would expect, and the angle at the end with Sanada saving Naito to get the role call was extremely well done. If this show is any indication for the upcoming year, it should be a great one filled with breakout stars!

8215.01.2024RingsportsRob9.0This was lacking the killer main event to make it a vintage Wrestle Kingdom, but for a 4-hour show it went quick, with lots of fun action on the undercard that didn't overstay its welcome. Shingo/Tama and the three-way both stood out, and Okada and Danielson put on the classic we knew they could. Not bad for President Tanahashi's first outing.

8615.01.2024Dynamax Dawn7.0The last few matches were great, but the undercard really dragged and that hurts a long show. Okada vs Danielson was the clear match of the night but it wasn't quite a 10/10 for me, and I really don't agree with Meltzer saying its 5 and 1/4 stars but that's just his opinion so it's ok. Overall the matches were just too short for a lot of these matches, and it didn't feel like it helped the overall time be shorter so I'm not sure what was really accomplished by this decision.
8714.01.2024MarkCarnochan977.0First Wrestlekingdom show since 2012 to have zero matches go 30+ minutes. This isn't such an issue on its own but it felt as though almost every single match needed more time. Because of this I felt a lot of matches didn't quite live up to their potential. Still high quality and very consistent.

9213.01.2024Moksli10.0Just something beautiful. This PPV didn't have a major weak point. Each fight was at least of a good standard, there were surprises, there were candidates for fight of the year, there were amazing entrances, atmosphere and the feeling that we were watching the biggest ppv of the year. One of the biggest minuses is the appearance of Evil after the Naito fight, but in the face of this gala we can turn a blind eye to it. For me, this is one of the best ppv in recent years, I hope NJPW brings it throughout the rest of the year.

9612.01.2024undeniablythegoat4209.0Pretty good show, enjoyed it until the end, lots of title changes, match of the night is easily Okada vs Danielson, or Sanada vs Naito. 9/10 show
9712.01.2024The Quick Man9.0
9812.01.2024rntsdl035.0A pretty underwhelming show from NJPW with only one match being a true highlight and at the level NJPW was putting out pre-pandemic.
9912.01.2024BruceMarcos5248.0Amazing show overall from start to finish. Glad to see the crowd can shout and chant loudly again after years of COVID protocol but still practicing face mask. Although there some matches that are short but understandable because they are running a 10-match show. The New Japan Rambo being in the pre-show is appropriate since the important ones will take place at the event itself. Nic Nemeth F.K.A. Dolph Ziggler all of the sudden showed up, unexpected yet intriguing. Can't wait what's next for him. My ratings for this match: TJP/Akira vs Connors/Moloney, amazing unveiling of the alter-ego of TJP, THE ASWANG, (not rated because the beginning portion of the match was cut), Tanahashi vs Zack, my review on the matchguide, (***1/2), Uemura vs Tsuji, decent match but nothing special, (**1/2), EVIL/Narita vs Kiyomiya/Umino, the HoT overstaying their welcome makes it the worst match of the night, (*1/2), Tama vs Takagi, my review on the matchguide, (****1/4), Bishamon vs Hikuleo/Phantasmo, decent match and mildly exciting, (***1/4), Hiromu vs Despy, my review on the matchguide, (***3/4), Moxley vs Ospreay vs Finlay, my review on the matchguide, (****3/4), Danielson vs Okada, my review on the matchguide, my MOTN (****3/4) and Naito vs SANADA, my review on the matchguide, (****1/2). Naito fulfilling his destiny and finally completing the roll call at the end is so satisfying to watch and one of the moments to be remembered. NJPW once again delivered, no surprise there. Is it the calibre of the past WrestleKingdom's (2013-2020), not so much but much better than the last 3 years of WK.
