"This is the first episode of NXT Ive watched since the beginning of the 2.0 days and while I find it trending in a better direction and it feels a little more focused it was still a reminder why I dont really enjoy or watch NXT outside of the specials anymore. The opener was super weak given how short it was and Valkyria did not have a good showing at all. Interesting choice for the winners in each of the tournament semis, certainly not who Id have gone with in either but thats more a personal preference and not really a reflection of the quality of booking. The Dabba-Kato/Axiom, Hank/Tank, and Wagner/Crusifino matches all felt like total time wasters to fill out the card and were all only average at best (most are below that mark). I wish Bate/Thorpe got a little more time, and Fraser/Dar was match of the night. Stratton/Perez in the main was also pretty solid and I think both should be factored into the future plans of the show so good on them for giving them that spot. As for segments, Dijak/Dragunov are the only ones really worthwhile, everything else is very skipable. A weak show with a couple of highlights to keep it from being a total dud."
[7.0] "I was surprised by the speed of the opener, but overall the tournament was good, and the final is a real eye-catcher. The rest of the show was a bit sad, with rushed matches and uninteresting characters like Hank Walker and Scrypts. On the other hand, I'm pretty invested in the story told by Von Wagner. Hayes isn't a very attractive champion and I'm looking forward to seeing him destroyed by Breakker. Overall it was an average show in the ring, but the short angles promoting the PLE make me really look forward to it. Particularly to see Dragunov vs Dijak, which promises to be huge."
[7.0] "This show was funny with two great match (Stratton vs Perez and Dar vs Frazer), the segment between Jacy Jayne and Gigi was good they are selling promo very well and i love the idea with a steel cage match as conclusion, the first two matches were rusty but i'm confident that they will do better. I didn't think i will ever say something like that but i appreciate the development of Von Wagner and the possible feud between Dabba-Kato and Axiom caught my attention positively. The contract's sign of Ilja and Dijak was the funniest that i remember, no conversation no vocal confront but only a violent fight that stop for a few second when one of the two have to make the sign, i laughed a lot for this segment. A good esisode and i have high expectation for Battleground."
[4.0] "The opening match between Lyra and Jade had a slightly better flow than their previous encounter, but there was a springboard botch from Lyra and the finish was very weak. Dragunov attacked Dijak backstage as they began washing the stink of last week's wretched vignettes off their feud. What happened next was a disgrace... Axiom, one of the best talents in NXT, was jobbed out clean in under 2 minutes to the lumbering Kato, then needed to be saved by a now maskless Scrypts, I hated everything about this. Things got better with D'Angelo's interrogation (I guess they were real cops last week after all) and a great Breakker video package. Gallus cut a boring in-ring promo before being interrupted by Brutus Creed's hair and Julius Creed was there also. They joined Gallus in the ring where they went back and forth on the mic and no charisma was detected. Eventually it turned into a brawl and Stacks got involved to even the odds. Bate vs Thorpe was a short nothing match that was a vehicle for Wes Lee to whine on commentary, which I've already spoken at length about on the matchguide. Dar vs Frazer was match of the night, but is not a must see, it was just decent. McKenzie interviewed Dragunov backstage but Dijak was looking for revenge and they brawled. Two jobbers had a pointless match then got wiped out with spears by Breakker, shame he didn't do it a couple of minutes earlier. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne cut poor promos to set up a cage match for next week. Gigi still doesn't work as a babyface, she just comes across completely fake. An enraged Wagner destroyed Crusofino in a fine segment. D'Angelo faced more interrogation ending with him being cuffed as the cops seemingly have an informant which I'd wager money is Stacks, although that would disappoint me immensely as I enjoy them together. The main event wasn't very good. An underwhelming episode at least ended hot with an intense brawl between Dragunov and Dijak. Overall it was better than last week, but not by much and again, none of the matches were essential viewing. The highlights were the various Dragunov/Dijak brawls, the Breakker video package and the entertaining D'Angelo police interrogations. The lowlights were the main event, Gallus/Creeds promo and the horrendous booking of Axiom."
[6.0] "It was a pretty decent show. Noam Dar and Nathan Frazer definitely had the best match but my favorite one was one of the short ones, the one between Axiom and Dabba-Kato. Dabba-Kato doesn't wrestle enough and he honestly isn't that bad in the ring. He just needs to be in the ring more consistently."
[5.0] "The release came out mediocre, which is head and shoulders behind last week. All the plots either issued a filler today, or generally stand still. Only the women's tournament can be singled out, and now the final has become too predictable, and the matches in it were the same, so we can only praise for the intrigue up to this stage. All the other titles seem to be dead, because they are at a standstill, and neither the champions are developing, nor the contenders are being revealed. A dull release that does not warm up to the special show, which looks so tolerable on the card."
[7.0] "An enjoyable go home show for Battleground. I felt they tried to squeeze a bit too much into the show with some things like Hank/Tank as an example, no disrespect to them. A match like Tyler/Eddy could have benefited from more time. I was surprised at how little time Lyra/Cora got which had some rough moments early anyway. Frazer/Dar and Roxanne/Tiffany both had good matches. Every match at battleground was featured in some way and there were some quality matches out of it. Could do a lot worse for a go home show. 6.5-7."
