Some good matches on the card (most notably the main event, the World title match, and the elimination match), while even the weaker matches on the card were elevated by other developments (such as the debut of Santino in the Moose vs Hendry match)."

[8.0] "Alexander & Ray presented a crazy bloodbath of a fight with highly fueled emotions taking over a major chunk of the time. It was a success which is still unable to accept for me considering Ray's past-the-prime condition. MCMG defended the tag titles in a crowded chaotic sprint that showcased Ace & Bey excellently while Major Players played their role as egotistical jackasses really well. I expect the story of Major Players to end so that we could get a full-on story from Ace & Bey with the champs since they've evolved brightly as a duo. Hendry & Moose had a solid hoss battle with an ending that was lighthearted, and I enjoyed it. Santino Marrella appeared as the new executive which is a good sign for him to shine at this point. The four-way from the women was kept short but the action was pleasing enough. Masha as the contender was expected as she has the essence of a champion smitten all over her. Swann & Maclin led a fun brawl around the arena which was a great setting that's been missed during the stipulation mostly. Gresham & Edwards tussled in a fantastic encounter that showed out the technical savagery from both men much to the applause of the fans. Edwards winning makes a lot of sense as he needed the momentum from this more than Gresham. The main event was a blazing close to the PPV where the result was a heartfelt hallmark even though I didn't expect. Both women battled like there's no tomorrow and kept the fans on the edge of their seats. The run Mickie is about to have might be her last, so let's cherish it and I hope it'll be treated so good as her first one since her return. Another year, another appreciative start for Impact as every match had a purpose, ample time to deliver and left a great impression. There were moments where some bouts could've been tinkered for a better result, but nothing was a letdown. That itself shows the consistency the brand keeps up recently. Add in the returns of Frankie Kazarian who's sticking with the brand for good & PCO with vengeance set on his mind and we have a prominent lineup for the next set of specials that'll be exceptional as before."

I was shocked how good a Bully Ray match could be in 2023. The Santino Marella debut was certainly unexpected, too bad it had to happen during a boring Moose match. God I hate Moose. The falls count anywhere match was alright as well It felt a bit like an attitude era hardcore title match which I appreciated. Definitely check this one out if you can."

I thought Hendry vs Moose wasn't bad either. It was a nice showcase of Hendry's strength matched with Moose's bumping ability, which is still very good for a guy that big. Grace vs James lived up to the build for me but Alexander vs Bully didn't, although that match was still a nice way to open."

The rest of the matches ranged from Good - Very Good! We also got some great returns, from Frankie Kazarian(who has signed with Impact Wrestling! ), Santino Marella(the new Director of Authority) & PCO! The crowd was fantastic & hot the entire night! The 10-Bell Salute to Don West at the start was a great & emotional start to the show! I highly recommend this show!"

[7.0] "A very good show, couldve been better but still very good. Sadly I wouldnt say any of the matches were a match of the year candidate, even though I think some definitely had the potential to be. Equally though, there wasnt a single bad or boring match on the show. I must admit Im not a massive fan of the choice to open the show with the World title match, made it feel like less of a big deal. However, Im happy that Alexanders reign will get to go on longer. Whilst everything was good, Gresham vs Edwards was the clear match of the night. It was just really entertaining. I keep saying this but Im excited to see what Gresham does in Impact. We also got some nice surprises here. Santino Marella, PCO, Frankie Kazarian, all brilliant. Im happy that James won the title, itll be interesting to see her first defence. Another great match that maximised the time they were given. Plenty of drama and thats what Im here for!"

[8.0] "A strong show to start Impact's PPV year. The opener was good, if overbooked - at least some of the interference could probably have been saved for a post-match angle - but Alexander overcoming the veteran Bully in his own type of match is another notable notch in Alexander's belt in what has been a very, very well put-together title run. Other notably strong matches include the three last - a great main event for the Knockouts Title between Mickie James and Jordynne Grace, with - to me at least - a somewhat unexpected result (if Jordynne isn't the one to end Mickie's career, then who? Or does she retire as champion? ) Edwards and Gresham put on a strong technical wrestling match, and Maclin vs. Swann was a fun WWE Hardcore Title era backstage brawl, going at one point out onto the street before making its way to the ring. Everything else was solid too, and overall the booking was good with either the obvious right winners going over, or having justifiable results."

Their were some technical issues but not as bad as past shows, only one match I didn't care about was the Degital Media title match, cool seeing Santino Marella but it was the low point of the show. Bully Ray and Josh Alexander had a bloody opener that stole the show until Jothan Gresham and Eddie Edwards, then that sweet main event that had a lot on the line, it felt emotional."

[7.0] "Overall, it is a PPV that goes from good to remarkable in its final stretch. IMPACT knows perfectly the knowledge of the people and their narrative and plays with it to create excitement, surprises and meaningful stories that don't have to end in the event. Good results in all the matches, each champion has several contender options around him and the stories outside of the headline orbits are interesting and with big names. A good PPV to start this new year in Impact Wrestling."
