[4.0] "Unfortunately, title matches were Tony Khan's crutch for this episode as he used them as the draw instead of trying to build any of the matches with the exception of the main event. The rest were either hastily booked matches or, in the case of the opener, a rematch in a series of countless matches between two teams that have no actual story besides 'Pac and Cassidy are nothing alike'. The quality of the matches was nothing to write home about. The first two were downright bad in my book, while Jericho vs. Castle managed to have a fun sports entertainment type of match. Main event wasn't that good and the ending absolutely killed it for me. MJF was once again the lone reason to tune in, with a lengthy but entertaining promo directed at William Regal, and then Regal went on and destroyed him on the mic. The ending angle was nonsensical but also intriguing."
[9.0] "Excellent show that unfortunately ended in a bummer with Hangman's injury. An all-time segment (MJF-Regal), really good matches (Mox v Hangman was on pace to be MOTYC) and the pacing of the show was much better than rushing a lot of stuff into 2 hours and just letting things breathe. PS: Several of the comments for the reviews here break the rules (just read the lowest scores). Don't just look the other way and pretend reviews like that are up to the standard."
[8.0] "I thought this was a consistently good episode of AEW Dynamite. The match of the night for me was the opening AEW World Trios Championship match. The only thing I didn't like from the episode was the unfortunate injury from Hangman. 8/10"
[9.0] "The festivities kicked off with a strong spot rally between two trios who knew the drill all along & gave a blazing starter. The momentum never stopped as the women entered the fray, delivered a physical battle that was crisp & clear till the final moment and the post-match altercation between Saraya & Britt is the next big program which piqued interest easily. Add in the return of Riho to fill the empty holes of the roster & keep the streak of resurgence intact. MJF understood the badass nature of Regal and took him to a trip down the memory lane through a raw, petrified promo that shed the skin of MJF's dream as the current self & Regal's part of a strategic executive. Regal's response was intense enough to equalize the magnitude deflecting words from The Devil. Bryan & Yuta had their interview focusing on the negligence of Bryan towards Garcia with an interesting path of civil face-off between them while Jericho survived the odds stacked against the overpowered Dalton who is a complete package of excellent entertainment. Then arrived the highly anticipated main event. Firstly, my hearty prayers to Hangman for a speedy recovery from the catastrophic phase he's in after taking a bullet like strike from Moxley. Both are absolute killers of pro wrestling and did the same throughout until the accident. Had that not occurred, we could've experienced a hockey fight indeed for the richest prize of the league. The untimely scare was matched by another intense face-off between Moxley & MJF carving the foundation of their showdown towards Full Gear. This episode is a standout from the usual editions because of many reasons. Firstly, heading into competition after a long time against the rivals is a huge task since the winds of change on the other shore. AEW surely kept the fight neck-to-neck & produced an exceptional show. Secondly, the way of handling an unfortunate atmosphere like injuries has been great by AEW & it was no different here. The final & underrated reason is despite the jeopardy of the closure, it didn't hinder anything that happened before it thereby having an amazing night of wrestling."
[8.0] "For sur a pretty stacked episode, such a pity it ended on Hangman's injury. He ate a panini, so he's good. I hope he's coming back soon. That segment between MJF and Regal was an all-time one, we're saying that a bit too much for Friedman this years. Man's so good with a mic."
[7.0] "Match-wise, I wasn't into a whole lot outside of the main event, and long promos walk a fine line for me, but I thought this was one of the better Dynamites in a while. The show ended with an injury and still managed to go out on a relative high. Love or hate MJF, it's no coincidence that he's been involved in most of AEW's better stories. The "Sympathy for the devil" angle they're running is pretty interesting. I just hope the ending is something different from the Punk/MJF attack this time around."
[6.0] "Some good matches on the card put together at the expense of story telling. Every match was entirely predictable, only the MJF/BCC story was progressed in a good way and MJF didn't even wrestle. Matches thrown together for ratings due to a night change and the NBA beginning. (An NXT argument can be made as well, but the NBA is the reason for the night change.) Death Triangle vs Best Friends for the seems like tenth time and was the same match as always, but still enjoyable. The Toni Storm vs Shida match was sloppy, but not bad. The "interim" part of this title tells you the belt will not change because Toni will never be recognized as champion without unifying with Thunder Rosa first. If it was the "real" world title then it would have been less predictable. Dalton vs Jericho was the best match of the night. First pairing of the two and they delivered, and this story progressed with Jericho beating a former ROH champ and piledriving another. The main event was a classic Moxley match with him bleeding almost immediately. Unfortunate for Hangman getting injured on a spot he's taken plenty of times, it really shows how dangerous wrestling is, hope he is ok with no lasting effects."
[8.0] "A great episode overall, with a few bumps that knock it down from being excellent. The Dalton/Jericho match was slow and never reached a higher gear. I think I could really like Dalton's character and shtick, but I'm not impressed with his current in ring work. The post match stuff with the JAS was also not great. The upsetting ending to the main event was obviously out of anyone's control. Rest of the episode was all good, from the promos to the matches. MJF stole the show, loved him and Regal."
[9.0] "A great show from start to finish, obviously Hangman's was quite strong and hopefully he will recover soon, we love you cowboy. On the other hand, what a great moment MJF had with William Regal, awesome. Great show."
[7.0] "If the payoff is Regal's knucks costing Mox the belt, then that was a sturdy set-up. Great to see FTR back in the tag title picture & some clarity for the division. Trios and All-Atlantic belts need breathing space now. And the sooner Rampage becomes the exclusive domain of ROH content the better."
[7.0] "The whole story around MJF is just perfect, this is of course super emotions, a clean match against Mox and of course this whole plot drama is developing perfectly and of course now the stakes are rising and emotions are running high to the limit. It's a pity that Adam's injury made the whole show a little less emotional and only I was upset because of another annoying injury. In general, it was an interesting show where Regal was able to achieve an honest super HYIP match. Where FTR finally declared their desire to become two-time AEW champions, Wheeler Yuta finally made the right claim in the direction of Bryan, and of course logical arguments begin in Death Triangle. The show was shorter, not empty and there was something to discuss, the roster is narrowing more and more and I do not know why, a lot of fighters just disappeared from the screens. It's time to fix it!"
[7.0] "Good show overall. Great combinations & chemistry in the Trios Title match. Decent showing for Storm & Shida. Castle impressed albeit fell short. Despite how it ended, Moxley vs Page was still a solid match. Hope Page will be okay."
[7.0] "Good show. Unusual yet interesting structure; four title matches split in half with a ton of promos. No outstanding match but all pretty good. MJF/Regal promo was one of the best ever! Also, Riho returned looking cuter than ever (hopefully just to boil Cornette's fossilized blood) plus Shida's gear! Jesus! Hope Hangman is OK!"
[8.0] "I thought this was one of the better Dynamites in ages. Such a shame the discourse will be led by the safety police and bad faith actors. Put Jericho in the mid card forever, re focus the womens division on Britt and Jamie and let the tag teams go back to being important and I will be happy. God bless this crowd for pretending to care about titles as unimportant as the trios belt."
[8.0] "The opening match was honestly a little disappointing when compared to both the rest of the show and the superior match these two teams had a week prior. Baker's backstage promo was worse than pointless, it was damaging, as she basically called the upcoming match uninteresting - luckily, the match itself was really good. The post-match brawl was messily done but exciting to watch. WarJoe cut a great backstage promo with a killer closing line - arguably something of a waste given who they're feuding with, but that's a very nitpicky complaint. FTR and SIOG's backstage segment was also really great - the characterisation was logical, the delivery was strong, it sets up an awesome match and Renee always finds a way of elevating these interviews. For a two minute segment, this was basically gold standard. MJF and Regal's back and forth on the mic was absolutely sensational - not without it's flaws, but the strengths were so immaculate that it doesn't feel worth raising any complaints. Jericho vs Castle was an incredibly fun match, including all the silly shenanigans at ringside. The main event was going well until the unfortunate injury - the show did pretty well with the subsequent improvisation and closing segment, but it also feels kind of immaterial at that point. This show had plenty of flaws but everything that happened felt important, the match quality was generally high all around and the verbal segments were absolutely fantastic."
[9.0] "A fantastic show that, with a conclusion to the main event it would've been in the conversation for best episode this year. Still awesome all things considered."
[9.0] "One of the best Dynamites in a while. All the matches were good, we finally got a Riho return, set up some interesting matchups for next week, particularly FTR vs Swerve in Our Glory and Riho vs Hayter. The MJF and Regal segment was fantastic stuff, especially Regals rebuttal after Max went off on him. Then after Hangman was unfortunately concussed in the main event, Mox and MJF set the date for their title match with a very good, and probably kinda improvised, promo to close out the show. Felt like a show that had almost no filler, which is how Dynamite is at its best."
[8.0] "It's hard to rate this show because of what happened in the Main Event (I really don't know if should reduce my overall rating because of that because it was an accident), but with that aside, this show is absolutely worth your time - Best Friends vs. Death Triangle and Jericho vs. Castle were really fun ***¾ matches and MJF/Regal promo was another addition to 'AEW's best promo segments' list. Storm and Shida found a way to make fast-paced, heavy-workrate match boring/forgettable. Riho's run-in was simply unforgettable, it's hard to describe how awesome but at the same time incredible funny that was."
[8.0] "Good show this week. All title matches so all had a meaning to it. Can't wait for MJF vs. Moxley at Full Gear and the promo between him and Regal was amazing like most of MJF's promos. Favorite match was probably most people's least favorite of the show, the one between Toni Storm and Hikaru Shida. Glad they're keeping the course for the unification by not switching the interim belt around between people and we might possibly actually get the Toni Storm and Thunder Rosa match in the future."
[9.0] "One of the best episodes of Dynamite of the year. The only letdown was the Adam Page injury, which took the wind out of the sails of what was tracking to be an all-time show to that point. I actually thought Moxley and MJF did a great job improvising at the end, all things considered. Moxley was especially impressive. He is such a valuable asset to AEW, once again cool under pressure. The other three matches were very enjoyable - I particularly enjoyed Dalton Castle vs Chris Jericho. What a fun match! Dalton Castle is someone whose really grown on me and I hope we see him in the ROH reboot. Speaking of ROH - I think part of what made this show so great was the lack of ROH. It wasn't filled to the brim with ROH midcard acts I don't care about. We were still missing several notable AEW names - where the hell are Eddie Kingston, Brody King, Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs? for example - but everything felt like it had its place on this show. My favorite thing about this show was the MJF/William Regal story. Damn. MJF is an incredible talent and considering this wasn't the original plan for Full Gear, the pivot to MJF and Regal working together has been incredibly well executed (starting with the Wheeler Yuta storyline). MJF as the devil with soul (? ) is incredibly compelling. I don't want to see MJF as a babyface, but an "old fashioned villian" MJF is something I could get behind - especially since he is a phenomenal wrestler in his own right and doesn't need to cheat (as Regal pointed out in his promo). Regal was great tonight as well. Perfect facials, great promo. I've rewatched the segment several times already. So good."
[7.0] "A very good show in the ring that was hindered from being an all timer by Hangman's injury happening just before the match kicked into its third act. The MJF arc took a turn for the better with Regal goading him into cashing in in an honorable fashion. I always make fun of the people who complain about a lack of video packages but I did enjoy them here."
[8.0] "Good show other than the Hangman injury. Hope hes okay. Trios match was good, Toni storm match was pretty good, and that MJF promo was outstanding. Dalton castle was good, and the main event was good until the injury."
[9.0] "Truly incredible show, outside of the Hangman injury (just read he ended up with a concussion. Hopefully he recovers well! ) The MJF/Regal promo was an all timer. Every match on the card was solid or better. The interview and backstage segments progressed the storylines nicely. Feels like AEW is hitting its stride again."
[8.0] "A good return to form for Dynamite this week. Highlighted by an excellent promo segment between MJF and William Regal, as well as planting the seeds for Danielson/Yuta to come in the future. My favorite match of the night was Jericho/Castle, and the main event was also good. Most importantly, I hope Hangman Adam Page is healthy. Scary injury to end the match prematurely. Despite that, Moxley, MJF saved the end of the show, despite a dampened crowd reaction due to Hangman's injury."
[10.0] "Apart from the Hangman injury, I thought this was an all-timer Dynamite. The matches ranged from good to excellent (again, putting aside the unfortunate Hangman injury.) The crowd was pretty hot and there were a lot of good performances. MJF and William Regal were the MVPs of the show with fantastic work from them. Hope Hanger is OK, but otherwise this show gets a big thumbs up for me."
[9.0] "This felt like it was going to be an all-time great Dynamite and a shot in the arm for this promotion, but then the AEW curse struck again. The MJF-Regal segment will stick with me for a long time, the opener was a fun party match, Dalton Castle made the absolute most of his opportunity, and they even stuck the landing with a hot confrontation at the end. But Hangman's injury looms over all of it. I hope he's all right."
[7.0] "Today the usual debate takes place. AEW has been less than cautious when it comes to trying to prevent injuries. The Page thing is unfortunate, but as Moxley says, this is a tough sport. Even so, it is not a reason not to continue working and preventing these events. Unfortunately, this fact was forgotten when Riho returned, one or another good fight and a women's title fight that, in short, has left me much to be desired."
[9.0] "Really enjoyable Dynamite overall, the opening match in particular was great and the main event was a blast up until the injury. MJF and Regal promo was phenomenal."
[10.0] "Hard to know what to give this as this was on track to be an all timer Dynamite until the Hangman injury. Still though the main event was going great until that point, and Mox proved again what an ultimate professional he is with the handling of the situation. We all hope Hangman is okay, recovers soon, and is back putting on bangers before we know it. As for the rest of the card Death Triangle v Best Friends was a great fast paced match where all guys shined. Toni Storm is looking like she could be the best women's signing AEW have ever had and building towards a match with Riho will just strengthen her reign. Jericho has done well spotlighting two RoH talents now with Bandido and Dalton Castle. Both very entertaining matches in completely different ways. Finally the MJF and Regal segment made this Dynamite a 10 for me. Both on top form and played the crowd masterfully. One minute the crowd gave a standing ovation to MJF and the next Regal won them back to his side. Best part of the show and well worth checking out P.s. if you're using the Hangman injury to shit on AEW then you should probably rethink your life."
[8.0] "A decent but unremarkable set of matches (apart from the unfortunate premature ending of the title bout - I pray that Adam Page makes a swift and complete recovery) lifted up by some really really fantastic promo work. The Trios bout is decent but feels like a bit of a strange contest in the first place, especially with Best Friends taking the L and thusly shutting down any sort of momentum that would have gone towards them going on a titles run. Toni and Hikaru put on a decent show but the drama afterwards is more interesting and exciting - without really going all out on a lengthy showcase of their abilities, the collision between these two just feels like filler. MJF's promo afterwards is what really excites me - he's one of my favourite heels, and I love the darker direction they've been taking him. MJF has always been an emotional character defined by his feelings of isolation within wrestling, but seeing the bravado really stripped down and forcing him to look at himself and what he wants to be is great character work. Jericho continues his dominance over RoH afterwards - the match is pretty good, Castle puts up a hell of a fight, and the escalation of stakes afterwards has me interested (though nothing can hide how wimpy that piledriver was, and I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to simply do something altogether different given the lack of ability for anyone involved to really sell it). Moxley and Page have a bout that starts off looking like it's going to be insane, and the first 8 or so minutes are pretty fantastic, a pure brawl through the crowd with Page pulling off a rad as hell highspot. The match continues to be brutal all the way up until Page gets legitimately injured, forcing a premature end to the bout. It's a shame, but with the amount of time left and the clearly planned MJF promo I have my doubts it was really going to be a huge climactic ending to the feud. That said, it's still a highly unfortunate accident and it speaks to the risk that goes into this artform even at its highest levels. Moxley does a great job of moving things along into the ending promo that sets up the main event at Full Gear. Overall, a compelling bit of TV, but the matches could have been better overall considering that they involve a lot of the company's most prominent talent. It sets up a lot of interesting things for the future, but I don't think people are going to return to this for much outside of the promos."
[4.0] "The MJF segments were great. Everything else, eh. The number of injuries on AEW keep piling up and it's sad to see. But Tony Khan has zero discipline as an owner to reign in his talents' desire to really place themselves in bodily harm and the consequences of that discipline deficit are showing on the growing injured list. There are so many titles that it's embarrassing that the Trios Title and ROH Title are really being defended as if most fans believe their holders to be legitimate champions. Even Toni Storm is just a placeholder champion for Thunder Rosa. The product is becoming less and less watchable just when they are facing significant heat from an improving WWE product. Tony needs to change what's not working and think of some big way to shift the direction of this company or else it will slowly but surely keep sinking."
[7.0] "Maxwell's development is probably why this is a good show, the matches are just by the numbers and lose meaning of value at this point. Kudos on AEW making a star in MJF though, which likely looks at the expense of Adam Page, but whatever, at least it's progressing that they finally acknowledged FTR for the tag titles."
[10.0] "Very good show, I hope Hangman recovers quickly, a neck injury could end careers, and our eager millennial cowboy still has a lot to do in Wrestling"
