[8.0] "The two-nights formula is a flop, but I still had so much fun watching first day of Kobe World 2022. The only real cons of the event are underwhelming Ben-K tag (yet we still get to see Bodyguard, which is always cool) and for how long Ultimo's segment went, they really just needed to do a longer singles and Perros interference with Sasuke save to build-up night two, but not wasting time on tag bout. Everything alse on the show was fun and exciting. Dream, Twin & Brave title matches were great and other matches delivered some good wrestling. All new champs totally deserved their triumphs and were the right choices from story perspective. If it was a one day event, Kobe World 2022 would be amazing, yet first night still was great."

[3.0] "While the final two matches were both very good, night one was overall a bad show. Those matches were not high enough of a peak and most matches were in the fine-decent range so there wasn't anywhere near a high enough average quality for what was a very long show."

[5.0] "One of the weaker DG PPVs I've seen, with a mostly forgettable undercard, only one truly good match, and a very underwhelming main-event. Still not an outright bad show, but only mildly okay. Pre-show battle royal was messy and cheesy fun. *3/4. Natural Vibes vs Gold Class 6-man tag saw all 6 play their roles well and hit some fun run-on exchanges. ***. 2nd 6-man tag was lesser but still fine, with Ben-K and Kikuta impressing. **1/2. Dia vs Hyo was alright but disappointing. Hyo's control period was too long, too slow, and quite bland. Dia's aerial spots were impressive, but his selling of Hyo's leg-targeting was bad. Their rapid exchanges in the final 1/3rd were decent but generically paced/structured. ***. 3rd 6-man tag was mostly forgettable but still fine. Kondo and Kagetora were decent, but the other 4 were forgettable. **1/4. Kid & Tanaka vs Hulk & Yamato was alright. All hit their signature stuff but didn't go above that. **3/4. Ichikawa vs Muto was the usual short but decent Ichikawa comedy match. NR. LPMJ vs M3K was another merely fine match with the generic heels-vs-faces structure. None of the 6 got enough time to show off the extent of their abilities. A few nice moments for Jr. at least, especially as he ultimately caused the count-out victory. **1/2. Santo vs Ultimo was 7 minutes of what you expect from 2 legendary but 50+ luchadors, and then LMPJ's interference resulted in a no-contest. *1/2. The impromptu Santo & Ultimo vs Eita & Nosawa tag was a lame cop-out likely due to backstage politics for the prior match. Match itself was super short and generic, with the legendary faces going over in cheesy fashion. NR. Sasuke making the post-match save was fun. Diamante & Skywalker vs Kamei & Jason FINALLY gave us a properly good match on this show, and it was definitely one of the better tag matches of the year. Diamante and Skywalker were good bully heels with their awesome strength-displays and powerhouse work, while Kamei and Jason were good with their speedy, agile, and acrobatic attacks (plus their 'kung fu' spots). They worked at a great pace, introducing lots of exciting exchanges and some pretty crazy and complex individual spots in the 2nd half. Easy MOTN. ***1/2. Kai vs Yoshioka was quite good but very underwhelming as a Kobe World main-event and Dream Gate match. The main issue was that there were only slight bursts of explosiveness between them, with most of their interactions lacking impact and especially creativity. Kai had a generic heel control period for the 1st half, and then it was just a mindless bombfest and finisherfest for the 2nd half once Yoshioka finally fought back to even ground, with no meaningful psychology/story to supplement it. Yoshioka at least showed some pretty good intensity in the final 1/3rd, but not enough appropriate for his first ever world-title win. Also, even by clap-crowd standards, the crowd here clearly wasn't very invested in this. ***1/4"
