[6.0] "Despite the amount of starpower the rumble match and overall show had, this rumble show is overrated. The opener with Matt and Swagger was solid, the women's is watchable and I guess was solid for it's time. JBL vs Cena had some good storytelling as a match, but not something i would go back and rewatch or even was that great of a match. Edge vs Jeff is really good title match, but not that great. The rumble itself was really enjoyable, but not one of the best. 6.5/10"

[5.0] "A poor-to-average undercard and generic Royal Rumble match. WWE is paint-by-numbers at the best of times and this was no exception. The easiest fixes would've been giving the women's title match more time, avoiding the ridiculously telegraphed ending to the WWE title match, and not having the World title match center on a non-participant. Not that WWE would bother fixing those problems, they were probably features rather than bugs."

[9.0] "Melina Vs Phoenix was just weak and Swagger Vs Matt was just decent, but Cena Vs JBL was solid and Jeff Vs Edge no DQ, the royal rumble match and everything revolving around Orton was just fantastic. Overall WWE Royal Rumble (2009) is a fantastic show."

[7.0] "A really solid show with a lot of the focus being on Randy Orton being unhinged and seeming to be in a need to win situation for the main event. Swagger vs. Hardy was a solid opener that didn't overstay it's welcome and was a great win for Jack, Melina's surprise title win was a cool moment and Cena vs. JBL was entertaining enough but this show really got going with the WWE Title match. Hardy/Edge was great with a lot of good bumps and a fantastic turn by Matt Hardy for the finish. The Rumble match was fantastic with a lot of great storytelling and a cool looking finish that played out perfectly. The moment of the night was absolutely the return of RVD and the insane pop he receives. 3.5 star show."

[6.0] "This PPV was all about Orton as he was the hottest thing in the industry at the time and they really did a fantastic job of making him look like a menace throughout the length of the show. They started out with an impressive performance from Swagger against Matt Hardy, then Melina had a pretty decent match with Beth, Cena vs JBL was all about Michaels who played his role perfectly and Jeff vs Edge wasn't bad, but apart from Matt's nicely done turn it was a standard match with not much standing out. And then the Royal Rumble Match was alright, they had some nice performances there, plus Rob Van Dam's return got a big pop, but it's not the best one I've seen. Legacy should have dominated the match a little more, but at least they had a great final encounter against Triple H with Orton standing tall. So a decent watch, not any wrestling classics, but booking-wise they were doing a great job with Randy."

[8.0] "Solid PPV, with the Rumble match and the Jeff vs Edge match standing out, the rest isnt bad but nothing special. I think this Rumble match is pretty underrated and not talked enough it had a lot of big names in it and a very good surprise with RVD being in it. Jeff and Edge had a great match and its shame that Jeff lost the title so quickly. Id recommend the last two matches the rest is skippable but not bad ."

The rest of the card wasn't too impressive, but there were some bright spots in the Melina / Beth Phoenix match, and the John Cena / JBL / Shawn Michaels storyline developing was fun to watch."

All the matchs where like around ** 1/2 except for the opener who was very nice and i give to him a ***, the rumble was so boring, just guys who try to eliminate other guys near the ropes while the crowd is couting for the newt entrant, at least the 10 first inutes are pretty cool, and the production for this event was excellent (like every time with WWE)"
