[6.0] "After this show, I understand that the tournament is too long. I'm already tired of the matches and the fighters can be seen too. It's kind of hard to watch the matches of fighters who already fought in the tournament one show ago. And we still don't see someone. In general, a normal wrestling show where there was something to see. But I can only highlight KENTA and the whole storyline with a metal glove."

[5.0] "Surprise surprise, it's another totally mediocre day of the 2022 G1. Yujiro vs Yoshi was quite bad. Yujiro's control work was very dull, and while at least Yoshi's work was decently energetic, with the unathletic Yujiro as his partner he was unable to produce anything truly impressive. Their back-and-forth exchanges weren't very exciting as a result. The constant HoT interference was bland and annoying as usual, and eventually made for a super lame finish as Yujiro got the cheap win. **. Sanada vs Chase had the personality-less Sanada vs the athletic-less Chase. Truly a haunting combo. To be fair, their work wasn't actually bad, as they both hit their signature offence moderately well, but there was definitely no creativity or intensity to any of their interactions, and some of those interactions were quite sloppy or amateurish. Definitely not bad, but not good either. **1/2. Taichi vs Tama was on the lower side of 'good' but still good. There were some silly shenanigans early on with Iizuka's claw, followed by a decently aggressive beatdown from Taichi. Tama's babyface-selling in response was good, and he showed nice fire and energy in his comeback, leading to them having some decent back-and-forth. A shame they both got tempted to use Iizuka's claw, especially in such a stereotypically goofy 'mind-controlled' way, but at least their big-move trades following all that were pretty good. They were generically 50/50 structured, but at least most were executed with strong technique, good impact, and a bit of creativity in their set-ups and counters. ***1/4. Archer vs Jonah was alright. It was mostly just a painfully generic 'strong-style' strikefest. Some of those exchange were enjoyable for how mindlessly physical they were, but some of them also looked a bit too slow/weak, plus they were all just way too uncreative. Both had fine 'monster' attacks but they countered each other too perfectly with similar monster styles, not allowing either of them to stand out from the other. A few of their spots were just quite fun, but it also made the match feel overly long as a result. ***. Kenta vs Naito wasn't any sort of great 'work-rate' match, but it still had compelling character work and selling from both men, and then their more typical NJPW 'big-match' trades and spots in the 2nd half were pretty good. Neither's offence was especially impressive in terms of athleticism or impact, but their chemistry together was very strong, and they did a really good job rapidly trading control and going for convincing near falls in-between their various big moves. Obviously MOTN on a mostly very forgettable night. ***1/4 - ***1/2"

[7.0] "I thought that was a good night of G1 action. Naito v. KENTA and Taichi v. Tama Tonga really stuck out to me. The undercard had a couple fun matches. Yujiro v. YOSHI-HASHI was a bit infuriating as the House of Torture getting wins despite being the worst booked stable in NJPW just doesn't make sense for me. 7/10"
