406.05.2023chaqudemus7.0Definitely funnier than I was expecting. Really enjoyed the opener, Sakura Hirota was entertaining and the main event was pretty good.
518.04.2023arrancar4.0I of course get that this is a tribute show, but given its insanely high ratings (7th highest show EVER), I feel obliged to rate it. I don't rate on mere sentiment, though, since I prefer rating on the wrestling itself (just as I appreciated Hana for her wrestling skills). Take away the emotional nature of this being a 'memorial' and it's actually pretty bad. It was about 80-90% comedy-focussed, and the main-event -- the only good match -- wasn't even that exciting. Kenou vs Menso-re was the first of many comedy matches. Kenou beating down dorky Menso-re was mildly entertaining but quickly grew stale. **. The tag-team battle royal had lots of underwhelming comedy spots and low-effort wrestling, though at least the 2nd half had a bit more direction. Still no reason for this to go as long as it did. **1/4. Kyona vs Kyoko definitely benefitted from the 'emotional bump' of it being Hana's close friend vs her mother, since it was otherwise a truly forgettable match. That story sadly didn't touch me much, since I mostly just found this to be Kyona wrestling a very low-effort style against an uninteresting and far-past-her-prime opponent. They were also often just too light-hearted for me to get any serious emotions from their performance, anyways. At least Kyona showed good energy at points. **1/2. The handicap match with Fake Hana was a total waste of time. Firstly: having someone try to comedically impersonate Hana on her own memorial show just felt really poor taste. All this fake really did was make a mockery of all of Hana's mannerisms and attacks, and I felt awkward watching that. Anyways, this match was yet more comedy and even more of the same low-effort wrestling interactions. *. Fake Hana vs Aja was an instant squash for their 1st match and then just a longer squash for their instant 2nd match. Both were likewise very pointless, though Aja was mildly fun at 1 or 2 points. Too short; no rating. Fake Hana vs Rina was, of course, yet more underwhelming comedy, plus some generic heel brawling. Rina showed a bit of energy but got literally nothing meaningful from Fake Hana. *1/4. Asuka vs Syuri was literally the only good match on this show, and it was only low-level good at best. It must have also benefited from an aforementioned 'emotional bump', given Asuka was Hana's close friend and Syuri was the ace of Hana's final promotion, but their interactions were pretty tame. They had some nice grappling exchanges and strike trades, but that was it. Asuka was good but Syuri was far more explosive. ***1/4. Please don't take my relatively low rating here as a criticism of Hana herself. I thought Hana was a great wrestler soon to be a massive star, but this was a pretty poor show for her name to be tied to. EDIT: Quite frankly, my rating/comment was extensively explained and not merely trolling or anything, so requesting that it be "disposed of" just because of disagreement is what's REALLY insulting (not to mention plain embarrassing).

812.04.2023ShineyxDiver10.0Quite frankly the rating from 'arrancar' should be disposed of. Stupid and useless and insulting post. These shows are always so, so beautiful.

4224.05.2022Javichohervas10.0If last year's show was more or less to mourn Hana's death, this was 100% to celebrate her life and putting on a show that she would absolutely love. From this ridiculously funny Kenoh vs Menso-re Oyagi, to a chaotic battle royal/4 way tag that her best rival ends up winning, to her loyal partner facing her mother in an emotional MOTYc for what it represents, to Kyousei Hana Kimura (I ADORE Sakura Hirota) and Rina as a surprise opponent, to that five star main event between two of the best in the planet. I need this to be an annual thing because it's such a beautiful show that has also been one of the best shows of 2021 and 2022. Hope you're smiling from above Hana, we miss you <3
4324.05.2022Yellow Belly10.0I guess these Hana Memorial shows are just gonna be the best shows of the year every year, huh? Kyoko is an inspiration.

5223.05.2022SondreBjorn10.0Pro wrestling can not only inspire people it can unite people Hana showed me that. We celebrated Hana's life today. We will never forget her. Rest in peace. Thank you forever. We love you forever. A great tribute show to a way too short career.

5523.05.2022NoSell10.0Just like the first Memorial show last year, this is one of the most beautiful and important shows I've watched in my life as a wrestling fan. Everything from the comedy, to Jungle making her comeback against Kyoko of all people, Sakura Hirota fighting a gauntlet cosplaying as Hana, with one of her opponents none other than little Rina, Hana's protege who won the match with the Hydrangea - the move she inherited from Hana - (she said some beautiful words in the post match promo, I encourage everyone to find the translation on twitter) to a barn burner of a main event between two of the best wrestlers in the world to that incredibly beautiful, touching video package that I think made most people watching cry. It's been a hard 2 years without Hana but these shows always remember us that she will never be forgotten and her legacy will be carried on. We love you Hana. Thank you so much to Kyoko Kimura for doing this.
5623.05.2022inauric10.0The next Hana Kimura memorial show didn't quite deliver on the match quality as highly as the first, but in terms of delivering meaningful message I think it might win out. Its framing of nostalgia as a lens through which we can be grateful for the present and look toward the future gave an extra dimension to all of the matches in a more bright and breezy card. The structuring of the set of Kyuusei Hana Kimura matches was nothing short of genius and the show also delivered two dream matches, highlighted talent of the future and gave space to those who paved the way. Not even a fairly protracted Battle Royale with not a lot going on can detract from that, imo.
5723.05.2022Kung10.0I don't think I can add anything that Suzukigun already said. This was another wonderful tribute show. I left the show with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face because I know wherever she is, Hana is looking down at Korakuen Hall smiling from ear to ear. Everyone who was on that show has my eternal respect.
5823.05.2022Suzukigun10.0Whereas last year's Matane tribute show was emotional and heartbreaking, this one was more light-hearted and celebratory, which many were hoping for. The opening match was hilarious, with Kenoh being the straight man to Oyagi's comedy, and it was a really fun way to start the show. The tag team battle royal was good for what it was, even though it did go longer than it needed to, but it was pretty fun. Kyona's return was handled perfectly. The video package, her entrance, her challenge, the response to said challenge and the match itself was more than I could have hoped for. It's not secret that she is still rehabbing her injury, so I kept my expectation's tempered. The fact that she looked like she hadn't missed a beat despite being out for 18 months, with Kyoko killing it too, might be the happiest surprise in Joshi this year. If not the best, it's right up there with Kairi's return to Stardom. The handicap match was hilarious, especially the Aja Kong stuff. The Oedo Tai dance with Yuu Ishino (formerly known as Kagetsu) and Hirota, who was cosplaying as Hana for the match, was really nice. After the match, Rina's music unexpectedly started playing and when she came out, she got by far the biggest ovation of her career. She then had an impromptu match with Hirota and it was honestly the best singles match of her career. Her postmatch promo was heartfelt and, for those who know what Hana meant to her, it was all very touching. The main event was really good and great down the stretch. It didn't go too long, was the perfect length for a main event, was paced well and ASUKA got a lot of offense in against the reigning World of Stardom champion. The video montage of Hana's life was really good and pierced the heart. However, unlike last year's beautiful yet somber "Matane" video and subsequent 10-bell salute to end the show, this show had a much happier ending. There was another video of several notable wrestlers saying the show name like last year, but it had a happier and more celebratory tone. Last year's tribute show was perfect for what it was supposed to be. This year's which was supposed to be more light-hearted and celebratory of Hana, was just that. It was full of comedy and chaos, with some really good wrestling mixed in, heartwarming moments and occasionally some emotional stuff as well. If we get another tribute show next year, I think this show will be a good template for it. If this show turns out to be the last tribute show for Hana, then it was a great way to go out. Either way, I'm really glad I bought it and watched it.
