[HoT vs SZKGN] - 2.25 stars. [BC vs UE] - 1.75 stars. [Tanahashi vs Goto] - 3.25 stars. [Shingo vs Taichi] - 3.5 stars. [Tama vs Karl] - 2 stars. [SANADA vs Ospreay] - 3.5 stars (Match of the Night). [Okada vs White] - 2.25 stars. Average match rating: 2.45 of 5 stars (or 4.9 of 10). Rounded to 5 for Cagematch."

[5.0] "A pretty mediocre show overall that without the final two matches would have been a miss. There was a four match stretch from the Yano match to the Tanahashi match that really drained my energy. Thankfully, Shingo vs Taichi had a fun sprint to bring some life back to the show. Tama/Anderson was just there but once that was done I new the final two matches would deliver and they did, although why Ospreay/SANADA didn't get more time is a mystery to me. The Bullet Club/LIJ match early in the show was also a good bit of fun. Overall though, for one of NJPW's biggest shows of the year, this was a disappointment."

[7.0] "The opener & LIJ vs. BC tag matches were the same as both went fast and furious with crisp action and a fine share of it within most of the men. Yano did his move and gave his weirdo comedy as a cooler while the NEVER six-man tag was a letdown of a standard six-man bout. Cobb & O-Khan did a cool work out of General's Jewel & gave a nice fight for the tag titles. Tanahashi vs. Goto was another great contest between them but not to the intense levels of their previous bouts while Takagi & Taichi had a fantastic sprint of hard-hitting action with a very interesting gimmick surrounding them bringing a ton of speed. Tonga had a tough fight against Anderson where the decision might've not been the best move but has a "what if" factor around Tonga & his inclusion in the upcoming G1 Climax. SANADA & Ospreay gave a great action-packed match even though the circumstances were displeasing. The main event was the usual "epic clash" that fortunately ended on a very high note considering the solid ring work & the fantastic story presented by two exceptional characters in The Rainmaker & The Switchblade. White winning was much needed for him since his work being at the peak level & one of the best to be witnessed so far. In overall, the show was really good but compared to other Dominion PPVs, this left a lot to be desired."

[8.0] "Six Or Nine & Hiroyoshi Tenzan VS Aaron Henare, Francesco Akira & TJP: Satisfactory opener. I would have preferred a title match as a opener for this Dominion event, but this was interesting enough. Now it seems like Tenzan it's in the opener of every New Japan event. [***]; Ace Austin, El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori VS BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito: What an interesting combination are these three Junior Heavyweight of the Bullet Club. Doing a great job defeating Los Ingobernables. More than a satisfactory match. [***1/2]; Toru Yano VS Doc Gallows: Nice classical comedy match from Yano. Happy to see Gallows back on New Japan. [***]; NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Title Match: Actually a satisfactory match. I was hoping to some change of hands for the titles, but it seems we have House of Torture for time. Suzuki-gun being the top players of the match. [***]; IWGP Tag Team Title Match: Adequate match to finally give the titles to United Empire again. The match was a bit boring, maybe because these Bulletc Club members are pretty regular inside the ring. The Rocky shennanigan was good. [**]; Now this G1 Climax announce is good, pretty exciting. There almost any surprise, but the division on 4 blocks and some returning wrestlers, it's great; Hiroshi Tanahashi VS Hirooki Goto: This is more like a formal match to have Tanahashi as the New Japan contender for the AEW Title. The winner would be he in any case scenario. Very satisfactory to see him clashing with Gooto, but maybe that place could have been given to another wrestler. It would be AWESOME to see Tanahashi as champion. [***1/2]; Shingo Takagi VS Taichi: Wonderful stipulation put on practice by these two. These 10 minutes felt pretty intense, and anyone at the end could have the most counts. It's great what New Japan is doing with this title. [****]; NEVER Openweight Title Match: Just overpassing the adequate rating. The match went pretty slow with all that sheenaningans. The final minutes were really exciting, but that trashy end didn't help at all. [**1/2]; SANADA VS Will Ospreay: As expected, the winner and the intensity of the match. First of all, really happy to see that Sanada's injury isn't very serious. and second, a very powerful match to begin the Ospreay's reign. Good match. [****]; Kazuchika Okada VS Jay White: What a surprise winner. Finnaly the Switchblade time has come. Really good match with the classical New Japan-Okada formula. The agility of White bring something different to the match. Very interesting election. Almost everything with this match was good. [****1/2]; A satisfactory overall show, with a few surprises and new crowned champions. I was really expecting more of this event, specially some title matches. But still, I liked this show. The Bullet Club celebrating at the end, bring something special to this too. [***3/4]"

[7.0] "A long and slow show. Most of the matches were held in the same style and many fighters were not at all ready to show a good show. I wanted more energy and audience interaction. United Empire was greatly strengthened during the show, Will Ospreay took a new trophy for himself, and his brothers returned the team gold. BULLET CLUB lost something, but gained two big titles and the main matches in any case are behind them and their Era brings dominance again. The announcement of G1 raises more questions, it's a pity that there are few new participants and there are almost no guests from AEW. Unlimited Pinfall Scramble Match needs to be used more often, a good type of fight. Jay White is back on the throne and now I wonder what he will do on the AEWvsNJPW show! As for me, he stole the whole show with Okada, this match elevated the whole show to a greater position than it was before this epic. I hope the show turned out this way only because in the USA we will be waiting for a really grandiose show with big stakes and a history for decades."

[7.0] "Really strong event, maybe just a hair short of Dontaku for NJPW's best of the year. Per usual, the undercard is fine but not much to right home about, just some basic fun. Post-intermission the great stuff starts rolling in. Tana vs. Goto was a relatively quick but spirited affair that, much like Mox vs. O'Reilly, was slightly capped by the fact we knew Goto wasn't going to win but was still full of hard hits and great psychology. Takagi continues to rehab KOPW alongside Taichi with a great scramble, the stip and a lot of urgency to this one. Anderson vs. Tama Tonga overdelivered with a strong storytelling match that showed off his babyface potential really well. The history between the two added a lot this and Anderson's still an underrated worker, especially when he's motivated. Ospreay vs. SANADA was a movez oriented barnburner, lots of fun and a great change of pace for the show. Wild spots and sequences between these two. And White vs. Okada caps things off with an excellent world title bout which sees White mock, admonish and destroy Okada over 35+ minutes. The deliberate pace and trash talk build to an awesome final rally that ultimately sees White shut Okada down for good. White gets the crowd to break protocol and make noise here, so there's not much doubt that this was the right booking call. Dude's on fire right now. That's two major NJPW shows back-to-back that have delivered the goods and it really feesl like the promotion is crawling out of the mud now."

[3.0] "Usually a Dominion is supposed to be the second biggest show of New Japan's calendar year, but this one was just boring and uninteresting. The only match that I was excited for Goto vs. Tanahashi but it underwhelmed and felt heatless, and I had some hopes that main event would actually be good but boy I was wrong, what a boring match that felt long and the fact that Jay White is the champion going into Forbidden Door just feels gross. Awful show, not worth watching."

[5.0] "Such a nothing show. Not a great match for the whole night. Definitely should have skipped this and saved time. There was nothing terrible or terribly wrestled it was just boring and average. Thought the main event would save the whole show but turned out to be a boring 36 minute jay white dominant match. Was loving Ospreay and Sanada but then it ends after 12 minutes. Why are all the matches 10 minutes and then the main event 36. I don't understand that. Even if the main event was incredible it wouldn't have helped how painfully average the rest of the card was. A show like dominion should not have so many meaningless dead matches. What a downfall from the Dominions of 17 and 18. The state of the roster and booking is very sad to see."

[6.0] "This felt like a lot of necessity booking for Forbidden Door. Nothing really too bad other than the main event feeling unnecessarily long, but what a world we live in now when the KOPW match is possibly the best match on the card. Taichi and Shingo have worked wonders for that trophy and I hope it stays far away from Yano for as long as posisble. Jay's post-match and post-show promos really drive home how integral a piece he is to Bullet Club. The G1 announcement is pretty interesting, though I'm a little disappointed there's no Impact representative. Kevin and Chris also hinted at Danielson vs ZSJ for Forbidden Door, which I think is one of the matches most fans are hoping for. Okada vs Hangman is probably more interesting now that Okada can potentially lose, but who's next for Jay if AEW's top guys are tied up? Maybe a Kenny return? I guess this is one of those shows which gets you thinking about what comes next instead of being truly memorable on its own merits."

[5.0] "2-3 match card with nothing approaching great, except maybe the post match from Jay White. Best match was Sanada/Ospreay. For the first time in my life I'm wondering if Sanada is a guy they should really get behind. The main event was one of the worst examples of Okada's tired main event formula, which we've seen a hundred times. KOPW match was fun. Everything else was forgettable or just straight up unworthy of being on a Dominion card. No real creativity shown in the build to the AEW ppv, just a copy paste heatless Goto Tana match they've had a dozen times, and a couple of backstage callouts. Serious concerns with whoever is at the top booking this stuff. Heads should roll, new creative voices are needed."

Got a little slow at parts but had enough action to stay entertained throughout. Loved the main event/press conference from White and excited to see what comes next for Okada"

[8.0] "Great show, obviously not on par with Dominion's of the mid to late 2010's but that was to be expected. Last 5 matches (apart from Anderson vs Tama Tonga) were all worth watching. Ospreay vs SANADA was great and Jay vs Okada was awesome."

[6.0] "This show is DEFINITELY going to be a mixed show in terms of ratings. Some loved it, some hated it. I liked it, but I definitely didnt love it. There wasn? t really THAT match that stood out. A lot of them are skippable and hell, this show is really skippable. It was a good show with a great main event and a fantastic ending in terms of heels going out on top. Im not sure how to completely feel about this one, just hoping NJPW steps it up with PPVs, this was NOWHERE near their last PPV."
SimonCopp wrote on 12.06.2022:

[8.0] "Dominion 2022 was probably not as good in execution as it looked on paper, but it was still a pretty good show with some banger matches a lot of story development. Jay White back on top of the World, Will Ospreay is a champion with no title (furthers he keeps getting screwed), Hiroshi Tanahashi Vs Jon Moxley set in stone, G1 entrants revealed, etc etc. This was a must see show with great story progression and four MOTY contenders."
Gonto03 wrote on 12.06.2022:
[7.0] "This event was skippable for the most part of it. On the first half, LIJ vs Bullet Club was the only nice thing. On the second half, Goto vs Tanahashi and Taichi vs Shingo were cool, whereas SANADA vs Ospreay was good. I didn't like Karl Anderson winning the NEVER title, doesn't make much sense to me and it killed a bit Tama Tonga's momentum. The G1 announcement was cool but a little underwhelming. I don't know if the 4 block format will be better and I expected some more big names from outside Japan. Anyway, the main event was amazing and such a high mark in the promotion. It is an absolute classic."
