| 1 | 23.07.2023 | jboyaquar | 5.0 | While viewing the January & March Zero-1 Korakuen shows I became snide at viewing old-man Otani ringside for seemingly every match exuding more IWA-MS Ian Rotten than one of the best-in-the-world from the late 90s. He wasn't competing and came-off as a former talent now businessman trying to hold-on to his past. Then I saw the end of the March show and became concerned, not-from-what-came-to-pass but that this very infrequently performing run-down physical specimen was going to create a subpar performance at Zero-1's biggest show in years. Never did I think or wish what happened to Otani is what happened. But perhaps his tragic, and it is truly tragic that any former top talent like an Otani-Takayama becomes such a shell that even daily life becomes a struggle, happenstance should have been avoided if he had simply retired. He hadn't been a fulltime competitor since '19 and everyone knows he hasn't been the same guy we adored in more than a decade. To conclude, it should have never come to this. I don't fault Sugs; he does the German to the post in all his big singles matches. It's just that unlucky Otani couldn't properly spring his full head-shoulders so-that only the bottom of his neck, the vulnerable cervix, was exposed. It was awful watching young-boys cry mid-ring and such a celebratory occasion be tarred by this. Elsewhere on this card, Lingerie Muto added some spice to the Battle Royal, the Ganbare guys added enthusiasm, the old ladies added some fun nostalgia, Jason Lee/Wu added youth-verve to the six-man, The Rule got-over as 2AW heels, upon his entrance Miyamoto mugged for the camera, from AJPW Aoyagi and his Firebird Splash looked good, LEONA took some abuse for his septuagenarian teammates, Kitamura fought but Kondo was too-much and the Zero-1 youngsters got one-over on the NJPW legends. |
| 2 | 10.05.2022 | Rudakov | 7.0 | Firstly, this review does NOT take CHONO Camp matches and main event into account for obviouse reasons. I was honestly looking forward to this show, this is just the type of wrestling that's pretty rare nowadays. And it turned out being pretty good! Being honest, none of the matches actually exceed my expectations, but on the other hand every one of them were absolutely enjoyable and fun. Even not considering previously mentioned matches event was far longer than it should be, but on the other hand that's how you can book so many big names of past and future on one massive card. Very enjoyable event, long live ZERO1. |
