[5.0] "Cole vs Hardy was hard to watch, and the wildcards were hugely underwhelming. Takeshita vs Hangman was the only thing worth watching - what a match!"
[8.0] "That was a pretty good Dynamite until the last 30 minutes, the bouts were awful. Thankfully, KOR and Fenix put on a banger as Joe and Johnny Elite displayed all their experience on the mat. The clear highlight was, of course, Page vs. Takeshita. What an excellent bout that was, a star-making (in the US) performance for Takesoup. Wardlow's ten lashes by MJF was also quite a good segment."
[5.0] "This was a very up and down episode. Both jokers were disappointing to me and both subsequent matches were poor. The show also finished on a real low with a really bad main event. On the other side of the coin there were two really good matches, firstly between Takeshita & Page then Fenix & O'Reilly. The Wardlow/MJF/Spears whipping segment was absolutely fantastic, AEW are doing an amazing job building Wardlow up to be a top star. There was also a brilliant promo from Chris Jericho although, outside of Regal's toothbrush line (that he took too long to get to), the response from the BCC/Kingston wasn't good, poor promos from all the guys standing in the ring unfortunately. Red Velvet and Statlander were both given the chance to talk backstage, Red Velvet was acceptable but Statlander was terribly wooden and boring, but thankfully she was interrupted by Jade. The Serena Deeb segment was interesting...the content of her promo was good and while the delivery could have been better, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected and was probably the best mic work I've seen from her, when Thunder Rosa came out though, that malarkey looked embarrassing. In all honesty, so far Rosa has been every bit as bad of a champion as Baker, I really wanted Jamie Hayter to be the next champ, but it's probably for the best to get the title off Rosa at Double or Nothing."
[6.0] "Not bad though a bit weak by usual Dynamite standards. The matches were mostly good but not great in my view. The segments were good as usual, really liked the Wardlow/MJF segment once again as well as Jericho/Regal and Serena Deeb's heartfelt promo."
[7.0] "Pretty good episode of Dynamite. Johnny Elite and Maki Itoh being the Jokers for the two Owen tourneys was a welcome surprise. The highlights of the show include the MJF/Wardlow segment, the Hangman/Takeshita match, and the Fenix/O'Reilly match. Low parts of the show were the Deeb/Rosa segment, the Hardy/Cole match, and the Itoh/Baker match (from a wrestling standpoint). Lots of great stuff on this episode of Dynamite. 7/10"
[7.0] "Towards the end of the show, it was felt that the timing was ruining the show and the fighters were in a hurry and nothing normal was working out. Jokers lose in the end, and quite simply for themselves, they are probably sad. Johnny Elite is at the Elite Promotion for the first time and I hope he will visit again, maybe even more successfully. Maki Itoh is a real cutie, she seemed to want to defend her Japanese title in the USA, I wonder if she is still a champion? Adam Page shows that he is still in very cool shape and ready to defend the title further! CM Punk be ready for a serious challenge. MJF VS Wardlow with their parody of belt strikes on Cody and as a result, Wardlow endured and even angered his enemy, but as a result, MJF found a way to cause maximum harm. The Jericho-LAX-Blackpool Combat Club feud looks like it will lead us to a cage match and it will be really bloody, the main thing is not to be as strange as last year. In general, the show turned out to be very intense, a lot of events and disputes between the fighters, wrestling was the coolest at the beginning and until the middle, at the end the fighters screwed up, but it's okay, they didn't spoil the overall picture. Then I expect big events for the upcoming ppv."
[8.0] "Reading through the comments it's abundantly clear that AEW has set the bar too high for themselves - this was an excellent episode of wrestling television that admittedly had timing issues towards the end - but featured very few low points. Samoa Joe vs Johnny Elite was really fun and featured a genuine surprise "Joker". I didn't see anyone speculating John Hennigan for this spot and it was such a pleasant surprise to see him show up in AEW. He would be a great addition to ROH - capable of having excellent matches and being a top guy to work with your up-and-coming stars like Dante Martin, Lee Moriarty and Wheeler Yuta. Adam Page is quickly establishing himself as one of the best wrestlers in the world. His match with Takeshita was phenomenal and was a great showing for the newcomer who is not overly familiar to audiences outside of Jaoan. I also really loved Kyle O'Reilly vs Rey Phenix. This felt like his best match (so far) in AEW and the match I was expecting him to have a few weeks back with Jungle Boy. Speaking of Jungle Boy, I loved the progression of the story in the tag title feud - with Swerve, Christian and Ricky really shining on the mic tonight (not so much Keith Lee). I'm glad TK subverted our expectations and that this is the tag title match at Double or Nothing (and not FTR or reDRagon vs Jurassic Express). As much as I love FTR, you get the feeling Team Taz is a team on the cusp of hitting it big and I think this could be the cherry on top of a fantastic 2022 for Starks and Hobbs. FTR vs Starks/Hobbs would actually be a great program down the line too. Can't wait for the Jungle Boy vs Swerve vs Starks match next week - it should be FANTASTIC. The women's Joker was a really nice surprise - though I'm still holding out hope for Athena at some point. The JAS/BCC segment and Wardlow 10 lashes segments were entertaining and served their purpose well. Particularly the JAS stuff. I wasn't sold on this match at the PPV until this segment. Jeff Hardy vs Adam Cole was just there for me. It was fine, but I'm not into either Cole or Hardy and feel like we've seen a lot of them lately. To be honest, the back-end of this show felt rushed. One difference between AEW now and the early days is, back when Dynamite first started, things were let to breathe much more. One of the drawbacks of having such a stacked roster I guess- everything happens too fast now. An enjoyable show that fell away towards the end. DoN is shaping up to be a great PPV with an excellent go-home card for next week!"
[8.0] "The two most note worthy matches were Page/Takeshita and Fenix/Cole nothing else really came to those two matches in terms of quality at all. Dynamite 1st hour contiues to be amazing, meanwhile, the 2nd hour usually sees a drop in quality. The JAS segment was long but it served its point, the Deeb promo was lifeless and didn't have good delivery, and probably took time away from the main event which was probably a good thing because we don't need to see Jeff Hardy having long single matches and the match wasn't good anyway even while shortened."
[6.0] "A bit up and down but mostly not bad. Fenix vs O'Reilly and Page vs Takeshita were the highlights as far as the matches go. The final two matches felt like a waste of time. The Wardlow segment was okay as well, and I'm glad it wasn't just the same as the Cody angle. I think I actually didn't mind the JAS segment this time but that might be because Regal still has some novelty value in AEW. Can't say I'm at all interested in anything to do with the tag titles right now. The last two matches and the uninteresting post-match after the main event made the episode end with a bit of a whimper, but I think there was enough there to still be at least satisfactory for me."
[7.0] "Samoa Joe VS Johnny Elite: Well, it really was a return I wasn't expecting. Now the match, was just an adequate encounter, and that is pretty sad. There was more a chemistry connection problem than anything. There were some nice moves, but also some very notorious botches. Adequate for keeping Joe as the monster, but very bad for the Debut of Johnny. [*1/2]; Adam Page VS Konosuke Takeshita: This match came from nothing, and fastly became in one of my favorites Adam Page's matches since he's champion. Konosuke made everything to make Adam look good, and also that returned to him doing a very nice showing. Really nice match with a precious end. Completely loved it. [****1/2]; Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland VS The WorkHorsemen: As Excalibur said, not bad, not bad at all, nice squach victory for this team. Maybe this way to book Keeth could be interesting. This thing of the 3-way match looks pretty cool, but also very repetitive. Make me feel that the champs just can look good having a bunch of guys into the ring. [***]; This MJF VS Wardlow feud gets more and more interesting, I really think they're giving the victory to Wardlow, but the in-ring action and psychology preview to it has been awesome; Well, now we're having a pretty interesting match for the ROH tag team titles. As always, this PPV looks spectacular; Kyle O'Reilly VS Rey Fenix: Another pretty good match for this tournament. A match that nobody expected, but delivered as it they were in a main event. Really good pace by pace, good strikes from Kile and pretty good high-flying by Fenix. Very happy to see him at this level after that horrifying injury. [****1/4]; Now this rivalry between the Jericho-LAX-Blackpool Combat Club extension, it's very interesting what they are going to bring to Double or Nothing; Dr. Britt Baker VS Maki Itoh: Maybe the pop wasn't as expected 'cause everyone, included me, hoped to see Candice LeRae. And the match wasn't very adequate too, They sell the Joker as a surprise wrestler with high possibilities of winning, and now we have a pretty near squach match for Britt Baker. [*]; Well, now is the first time I get interested in a women's rivalry. Maybe having Dustin in the middle could help them to build something nice; Jeff Hardy VS Adam Cole: Maybe this wasn't the correct choice to be the main event, although than that is satisfactory. Jeff even with his age, put some interesting moves, and obviously Cole doing his work as great as always. For me, a satisfactory match, far away from being a good main event. The interferences at the end were very well-received by the public, but I didn't understand it at all. There is truly a neccesity to make another 5 VS 5 match? [***]; Well this show had some very high ups and very low downs, but overall was a interesting show. They confirmed some interesting participations at Double or Nothing, advances in the mens and womens torunament, and keep working aroung their wrestlers as always. Very satisfactory show. [***3/4]"
[7.0] "Had all of the makings of a true all-timer Dynamite until the final 30 minutes. Hangman vs Takeshita and Kyle vs Fenix are both MOTY contenders, Samoa Joe and the debuting Johnny Elite had a fun opener and the team of Swerve and Keith Lee had a perfectly serviceable squash match, followed by two exciting match announcements. MJF and Wardlow had an entertaining segment, as did the JAS and the group of Moxley, Danielson, Proud and Powerful and Eddie Kingston. Johnny Elite was a pleasant surprise as the joker. I think most people were expecting Claudio or Gargano, but I was perfectly okay with what we got here. The Britt Baker vs Maki Itoh match was the beginning of the downfall of this episode, as the strange Deeb promo followed as did the rushed Adam Cole vs Jeff Hardy match. Overall, this Dynamite had some incredibly high highs and unfortunately some rather low lows. Regardless, Double or Nothing is looking to be a stacked pay-per-view."
[8.0] "A show with two absolutely amazing matches and another very good one, exciting jokers and some decent storyline stuff is just about all that can be asked for on a TV show. The only real failure was Deeb's poor promo, and while the last two matches weren't much above average they were both good for other reasons - comedy from Itoh and storyline stuff from the main event. Without the timing issues and a different order for the matches this would probably have been a 9, it's very close as it is."
[8.0] "Just a straight up great dynamite for about an hour and 20 minutes then it ran into the Deeb promo. They need to protect the women that get nervous on promos a bit more. Pre-tape would have worked better for Deeb and Rosa. I liked Itoh/Baker (the crowd was hot for it) The last match was rushed and suffered. Hangman/Take is in my top 10 for MOTY at the moment. What a fun match."
[5.0] "Hangman vs Takeshita and O'Reilly vs Fénix saved this from being one of the worst episodes of dynamite of all time. Really bad segments littered the show and the other matches were average at best. Itoh showed up which was cool and I'm sure someone out there is happy to see John Morrison in AEW. All in all though a very poor episode after a good streak of excellent dynamites."
[8.0] "A show that entertained enough to give it a high rating like this, however, the last half hour left a lot to be desired in terms of what had been built up previously, but hey, putting that aside, great show to continue on the road to Double or Nothing."
[8.0] "Wilcard Wednesday was a nice episode in my view. Johnny Elite being the first joker was a pleasent surprise. Page/Takeshita (MOTN) and O'Reilly/Fenix were both super fun matches. The Tag title match being set up adds more hype to Double or Nothing and Wardlows lashes segment was done perfectly. The rest of the show with Maki/Baker Cole/Hardy the Jericho Regal standoff and Deebs promo wasn't as good as the first half but still solid"
[6.0] "The only reason I'm giving a 6 is because the Joker's were kind of a letdown. Although Johnny Elite and Maki Itoh are both really entertaining I really wanted a Samoa Joe vs. Cesaro match. Best match of the show though was probably the Konosuke Takeshita and Adam Page match."
[8.0] "It was a great show with the typical problem Dynamite's usually have which is a great 1st hour and then the 2nd hour is just ok. Page vs Takeshita was amazing."
[7.0] "Overall good episode. However, the opening match wasn't as exciting, given the joker reveal was slightly disappointing, and the main event felt like it was severely rushed with a confusing ending where the screen just cut to black. Regardless, everything else was pretty fun to watch."
[9.0] "Not sure what those low ratings are on about. This was one of my favorite Dynamite episodes ever. Great matches and entertaining segments. Also, MAKI ITOH!"
[4.0] "This show just felt... off. The opener was fun, I love John Morrison and was happy to see him get such a great reaction. Wish they signed him but Tony has proved he would rather have a bunch of nobodies under contract instead of proven commodities. Anyway he had a fun match with Samoa Joe. Page and Takeshita had an alright match but the no selling from Page at the end was outrageous. The squash tag was merely a set up for a bunch of announcements from Christian, but I want to know who gave him such power? Since when can he just declare matches will happen? Give me an explanation. MJF/Wardlow lashing segment was good but a little too long. Kyle and Rey had a very solid match. The pace forced Fenix to actually sell stuff (somewhat). Jericho/Regal face off was... bleh. I have NO interest in the JAS and this didn't make me interested in seeing major stars like Bryan, Mox, Eddie, Santana, and Ortiz face off against Jericho and a bunch of bums. Jericho needs to go back to WWE ASAP because his career is dying a slow death in AEW and it's sad. Maki Ito was a pretty tame surprise but she has history with Baker that they played with during the match. I like Ito, but her matches in AEW have been underwhelming and this was no different. Bringing in two surprises in these tournaments only to have them immediately job just feels lazy. The main event was sad. Jeff Hardy is in no place to be wrestling these days. The post match wasn't good either. The Young Bucks hit one of the worst superkicks I have ever seen in my life on Sting, and the fact he decided to sell that while no selling chairshots is laughable and probably due to the huge ego the Bucks have. Mediocre show overall but the last 30 minutes were just not good at all."
[8.0] "A rickety episode of Dynamite, but a very entertaining one to me. Every matchup felt fresh and exciting and generally delivered (especially Hangman vs. Takeshita), and the Wardlow segment was amazing. Unfortunately, despite Serena's best efforts, the women's title feud still has no heat, and you could feel the sweat from backstage as everyone rushed to get their main event and show-closing stuff in under the wire. But even if it ended in kind of a sloppy place, this was still a stellar two-hour wrestling program. If only I could forget the toothbrush imagery in Regal's promo."
[4.0] "They really named him Johnny Elite. Why? Some of the wrestling was good but the same thing happens after all these matches. I don't understand why the world champion of this promotion can barely defeat a nobody from Japan. Adam Page is the worst World Champion since Jinder Mahal. I don't understand why Christain Cage has the power to make the world tag team title match a triple threat. The only explanation I can come up with is that he's afraid his team can't win team on team. Ricky Starks did beat Jungle Boy. Kyle O'Reilly and Rey Fenix had the match of the night. I really don't understand why AEW is bringing in Maki Ito of all people to wrestle here. The main event was probably as good as it was going to be with how banged up Jeff Hardy is. The ending angle had no impact on me. I was going to give this a score of 3 but the MJF and Wardlow segment was so good I'll bump the rating up."
[6.0] "Decent week for Dynamite, brought down heavily by Johnny Disappointment and a boring mainevent. I understand that these guys are still very popular, though I'm simply not interested in seeing them promoted as high-level wrestlers in the year 2022. This may be the first week to date where I genuinely enjoyed Dark over Dynamite. A strong recommendation for Kyle O'Reilly vs Rey Fénix."
[8.0] "Pretty good episode of Dynamite with plenty of good matches all throughout the card. Didn? t have high expectations for the jokers, the same people who complain about AEW no having enough time for new signees are the same ones complaining about how they were ? disappointing? . Show helped build towards the PPV well. Id recommend it"
[7.0] "We shouldn't have got too excited about the Jokers. I thought for certain who they were an hour before the show, they ended up not being as exciting (and Tony Khan misled everyone over the female Joker when he said it would be a debut)... yet it was the point that they weren't massive debuts (or debut given Maki Itoh has wrestled for AEW before), as Samoa Joe and Britt Baker needed wins, and big debuts wouldn't be smart to job out in their first matches. Other than that and Cole/Hardy being so brief, a good show to build up to Double or Nothing."
[9.0] "There were a lot of great things about that show. Quality matches with some very entertaining segments. Hangman/Takeshita, KOR/Fenix and the Wardlow segment were the standouts of the night. The PPV is looking stacked and next week will be great."
