"My first AEW live show. Of note: CM Punk vs Dustin Rhodes was fine. An excuse to see Punk before he left the promotion. Kyle O'Reilly vs Jungle Boy was great, easily the match of the night. Both of them have so much talent between the ropes. Dr Britt Baker DMD vs Danielle Kamela was also fine. Hometown hero popped the crowd. Finally, Andrade El Idolo vs Darby Allin in a Coffin Match was super fun. The spots were great, especially the bit with Sting in the crowd. Watching a legend do a balcony dive live was wild."

[7.0] "Decent if unspectacular episode of Dynamite. The best match of the night was probably the opener, but I enjoyed the Main Event as well. Other highlights included the continuation of the highly enjoyable MJF v Wardlow and Hook v Danhausen feuds. Everything else was fine but was either unspectacular or not noteworthy, the Blackpool Combat Club seems to just be treading water with no real direction at the moment, and the Jungle Boy v KOR match was just kind of there. Only lowlight was whatever the hell the Baker match and promo was, I don't know if she's dealing with an injury or what but she got blown up and was gasping for air doing a promo after a six minute match. Overall a fine TV episode."

CM Punk has approached the world title, now it remains only to speak on the microphone, sign a contract and wait for a rather intriguing match. Wardlow is taking slow steps towards MJF, I think they will meet soon. Hook pleased us with his presence and received a new challenge - hmm, we are waiting. I am pleased with the subsequent announcements for the future, AEW is developing, although on this show I felt that there are no plot developments in some moments."

[3.0] "Not the best episode of Dynamite that's for sure. The opener and main event were the only matches worth watching. The Hook squash was fine, but come on, Anthony Henry should be doing way more than jobbing to Hook in a minute, he's better than at least half of the roster, also, the Danhausen shit is not for me at all. There was another hideous Guevara/Conti segment as Guevara cut another crappy, wooden promo whilst looking smarmy, thankfully he was interrupted by Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page and Dan Lambert who all showed Guevara how to cut a promo, Ethan Page in particular was excellent. I don't care if Guevara and Conti are heel or face, either way they are complete go away heat for me, I don't want to see them get their ass kicked, I just don't want to see them on TV at all. Along with Guevara's promo the worst thing on the show was Britt Baker's unwanted (by me at least) return, she had a horrible match and an even worse promo. If they're going to let this lack of talent, charisma vacuum continue to bury the entire women's division without anybody ever responding, they might as well cancel the division, infuriating stuff."

The Wardlow/MJF feud continues to be some of the best stuff on the show. The last quarter of the show wasn't good at all tho."

[7.0] "From my perspective it's a tough show to rate, because generally it was also nothing to write home about if there hadn't been that AEW/NJPW announcement, otherwise it was a show that entertained enough to deserve at least a 7, but there have been several screw ups, especially in the last two bouts."
inauric wrote on 22.04.2022:
[8.0] "Bit of a strangely cerebral show for a crowd like this but they were mostly feeling it and I was loving some of the slower more technical stuff from KOR/Jungle Boy and Punk/Dustin. Wardlow continues his top of the world hot streak too. Only dud point of the card was Britt's promo as even her match was decent."

[7.0] "Fun show but not as good as other weeks. Pros: Punk/Dustin was a good old school style opener to keep Punk on his path to a match with Page, Six man tag was a fun sprint, the Wardlow/MJF feud keeps going strong, The Forbidden Door being announced was cool, HOOK/Danhausen face off. Sammy turning heel and Men of the Year playing Face really worked Cons: The womens match was skippable and same with Britts post match promo, Jungle Boy/O'Reilly was fine but not as great as it could've, Darby/Andrade was chaotic but not that entertaining. Overall nothing blowaway but mostly solid 7/10"

[4.0] "The first half was middling and the second half was poor. Not the best way to spend two hours if you're as time-conscious as I am. Punk vs Dustin was the best match of the night but that wasn't without issues. Slow matches can be fine but there were three matches on this card which seemed to really lean into being slow. The Baker match was bad and somehow felt slow despite only lasting 6 minutes, the main event was a disappointment considering the potential and the previous coffin match, and I'm done with seeing Hook and/or Danhausen on my TV unless either of them does something truly spectacular. On the plus side, the Wardlow angle continues to be pretty entertaining even if there wasn't much of a match on this show."

[5.0] "One of the weakest Dynamite episodes of the year. Coming off last week's fantastic New Orleans show and with a card that looked quite decent on paper, I definitely expected more out of this. The only standout match was CM Punk vs Dustin Rhodes, and even that underperformed on my expectations. Probably my favourite thing on this show was Hook and Danhausen - and I'm not even the biggest Hook fan. The Sammy/Tay/Ethan/Scorpio/Lambert segment was an improvement on every other segment they've had - which admittedly isn't saying much - but I'm not sure MOTY being babyfaces is the right move (regardless of how despised Sammy and Tay are right now). Lambert was literally calling Conti a whore a week ago- and now we're supposed to cheer him? Personally I would move the TNT title away from everyone involved in this feud ASAP. By all means, do the mixed tag. But must we chain the AEW workhorse belt to a mixed tag feud where horny 20-somethings are posing naked with a belt dedicated the memory of a deceased wrestler and women are regularly being slut shamed? ! Also Ethan Page is a god damn star and continues to outshine everyone in this feud on the mic. The biggest disappointment of this show, for me at least, was that there was no Lee/Swerve/Starks/Hobbs follow-up after those four men stole the show last week. After their match in NOLA, I came away thinking their star power was undeniable and that AEW should change course and build their future around all four guys immediately. But nope. Not this week at least. Hopefully they'll have a presence next week on Dynamite, because they really should be a prominent part of AEW programming going forward (and not just hidden away on Rampage, which has 50% of the viewership of Dynamite). I really liked the presentation of Wardlow tonight, but the match was...not good. I also thought Britt's promo was a major miss. Burying the Women's division by promo is counter productive right now - especially when the points being made by the heel are kinda accurate. The division has felt listless in 2022 (outside of Deeb and Shida, who will be having their blow off next week - CAN NOT WAIT). I'm sure AEW will bounce back next week in Philly (they always do), but definitely the weakest episode of the year with a lot of misses."

[6.0] "It was an okay show - nothing particularly memorable outside of the announcement of the AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door supershow. Punk vs Dustin was MOTN easily. Crowd was hot for mostly everything. Poor main event and a flat closing shot but at least it wasn't as bad as the Satnam Singh debut last week."
kakkakikkare wrote on 21.04.2022:
[7.0] "Average quality for Dynamite. Started with a good old school wrestling match between Punk and Dustin, some BCC violence after, Wardlow squashing Butcher. Jungle Boy vs O'Reilly was a let down for what one would expect from the two but it was still okay. HOOK squashes are fun to watch. Britt beat the jobber and did a meh promo. Darby vs Andrade was just there but Sting hiding behind a Sting mask and doing a dive from balcony was awesome."
boisecombatclub wrote on 21.04.2022:
[7.0] "Some really tremendous highs, particularly in the near-flawless opening stretch, but things get shaky in the second hour with some underwhelming live promos and an anticlimactic main event that felt rushed by poor pacing in the earlier segments. Still an above average episode of Dynamite, though."
LivingLegend wrote on 21.04.2022:
[4.0] "Blah... Just didn't feel all that great. The pacing was fine, but the matches themselves were not really up to Dynamite standards apart from the opener. Speaking of which, CM Punk and Dustin Rhodes put on a very fun opening contest, even if the finish felt like slow motion and disappointing. Blackpool Combat Club match was fine but what happened to Top Flight? Is Darius injured again? Why is Dante getting pinned when Brock Anderson is RIGHT THERE? MJF promo was okay. Wardlow match was a fine hoss match. Kyle O'Reilly VS Jungle Boy was technically sound and a good match, but it never kicked into that next gear it needed to. Crowd couldn't have cared less either. O'Reilly excels more in a tag setting regardless. Hook match was an ordinary squash. The kid looked good though. I don't see the appeal to Danhausen, and I'm not sure why Hook is involved in comedy, but I guess it's not terrible. Women's match took place almost exclusively during a commercial, which SUCKS. I thought Rosa would elevate the division and get it more ring time, but I suppose that was too much to ask of Tony Khan. Baker got more Dynamite screen time tonight than Rosa has since winning the title over a month ago. Do better Tony. You have talented/up and coming women like Ruby Soho, Anna Jay, Nyla Rose, Toni Storm, and Penelope Ford all wasting away in catering so a sexual predator can main event your television program. Tay Conti has also just become a background object for Sammy Guevara. Speaking of Guevara, please make him go away. He offers NOTHING to the product and has kept the midcard title in an orbit that only a select few are able to enter. Not to mention he is dragging Conti through the dirt. Anyways... the main event was fine, if a little bland. Darby predictably wins and Andrade loses another feud. Smh. AEW has so much potential to deliver a quality program but Tony Khan is a moronic booker who can't do shit, especially with his women's division. Tony fucking Khan got more TV time than the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION."

[9.0] "This show might not have had the absolute best wrestling I've ever seen, or the best promos - I might even have seen a bigger announcement - but it was top to bottom one of the most satisfying and enjoyable wrestling programmes I've watched. There was sadly one major exception, which is that on a 7 match card they could only find room for one short women's match, and that's enough to stop it getting top marks. Apart from that, it was excellent."

[9.0] "Back to back great dynamites, no iffy finish on this one and I honestly can't think of many lows this week, maybe the end of the ATT/Sammy segment but the rest of that was pretty good, glad something is finally going to happen with Danhausen."
