[4.0] "Der erste Tag Der "New Years Golden Series" Tour 2022 war ein absolut Solider Event. Mehr aber auch nicht. Hiromu Takahashi mit seiner Masken Challange war sehenswert und interessant, der Main Event war natürlich Stark und das war's aber dann auch schon wieder. Der Rest war halt einfach Solide New Japan Standard Kost die man halt kennt um weitere Fehden und Titelmatches aufzubauen. Man hat auch für die Kommenden Tage der Tour schon viele Titel Matches angekündigt und man kann sich auf einiges freuen. Der erste Tag war aber dennoch einfach nur Schwach bis Solide. Nix besonderes hier Passiert. Main Event (***1/2). 4 Punkte."

[5.0] "Das meißte ist hier auf gutem solidem Niveau. Die beiden Bullet Club Matches stinken wieder ab und der Main Event ist ein starkes Match ***1/4"

[6.0] "Nothing to go out of your way to see, but it was elevated a bit above a normal tour show, with the Hiromu v Oiwa match having an interesting bonus of Hiromu giving Oiwa money if he could unmask him, and it felt like there were two Main Events with the final two matches. Again, above average for a tour show, skippable but enjoyable."

[6.0] "All pretty skippable, but the first two matches did something a little different from standard "Road to" shows. O-Khan and Nakashima had an entirely grappling-based match, and Hiromu came to the ring with a mask and offered Oiwa a cash prize if he could remove it. Both of these matches were enjoyable enough for young lion matches. The main event was also fine, but the four matches before that were all pretty basic."

[7.0] "NJPW New Year Golden Series kicks off to a decent start. Nothing earth shattering, but nothing bad. Great-O-Khan is showing an even more aggressive side and Hiromu Takahashi is trying to find his place after losing to Despy, on the inverse the Young Lions continue to scratch and claw. Tiger Mask and Taiji started build to their title match, but without Eagles and ELP it's not really a build yet. Suzuki and Yano are building off their previous feuds and rivalry into what should be a very entertaining KOPW match. Wato and Despy are on the road to a banger Jr Title match. CHAOS and HoT didn't add anything new to their months long rivalry, but it was nice to see CHAOS get the win and control the match, and hopefully they clean sweep this tour to end the rivalry (I can dream). The main event was as good as expected and it built to Tana/SANADA and Okada/Naito very well, while also possibly teasing Shingo Vs Nagata II for the New Japan Cup. All in all, show had forward progression towards the end of the tour, so I cannot complain."
