Of course, the pearl of the show is a verbal duel between Punk and MJF, it seems to me that this is an ideal story that will clearly be recorded in the assets of both fighters. AEW TNT Title Unification Ladder Match is a great start to the show, which most people really liked, especially the audience in the arena. Britt on the microphone is also great, she doesn't even have to fight, she's already a champion in the conversational format."

[8.0] "A really nice little TV special for AEW this week. They're giving the best into the opener for weeks and makes sense in order to try to get new fans into AEW since too many storylines are going on right now so a casual could lose focus. The TNT Unification Ladder match was great, Wardlow's match was another brick into the face turn they are building. The in ring action of the six man match wasn't spectacular, just all right, but in storytelling we can see how the Inner Circle is slowly getting away and looks like is Jericho the one turning heel -something he really needs right now-. Leyla is another worker getting a slow heel turn and she's doing fine with her new attitude. The match itself wasn't really good, but not as awful as a match between these two women could have been 6 months ago. They are getting better and that's great for the future of the division. And the main event was a bit of a split this time. Some people love it, some people hate it. I think it was a great way to end the Orange vs Cole feud but also I know some spots worked better than others. Of course Danhausen was a good and unexpected turn, but I just don't know if I was burn out by the amazing Sammy vs Cody or what, but I can't give this main event more than a 7/10 for some reason. Promo territory, lots of things and storylines advanced. Probably the MJF-Punk was the big point, meanwhile Britt's promo looked a bit long and stiff this week in what is supposed to be her strenght. Anyways, a solid 7.5/8 this week for Dynamite. Can't wait for next week."

[9.0] "Cody VS Guevara: What I liked a lot about this match, it is how evolved with time, and finished with a great win fro Guevara. It began very slowly, even with some good spots from both of them, mostly carried by Cody. But when Guevara began to accelerate it, it became a much better match. It is not a 5 star match, but pretty cool starting of the show. [****]; Wardlow VS Dean & Alexander: No much to say, probably AEW building Wardlow as their next medium future World Champion. Will see [N/A]; Inner Circle VS 2point0 & Garcia: I don't know why, but I also liked a lot this match. Maybe the chemistry between these two teams is awesome, and put a great effort to make it feel trough all the match, It's the first fight I've seen from 2point0 & Garcia, and hope to see more of them. [****]; The CM Punk & MJF'S promos were great. They had been building this match very well, i hope next week to watch their match it's going to be. Also, I just wanted to add that is pretty ironic that FTR & Shawn as are same as midcards as they were on WWE; Hirsch VS Velvet: I don't know how to feel about this match. I think they put a great effort to get a good match, but there a LOT of botches that didn't let to enjoy the match. Also it felt a little nosense to have this match in this event, and last, the attendance people were not too much into the match. [**1/2]; I guess that Sammy's promo was his babyface turn, hope to see where they go with a new rivalry for the TNT Championship; Even if I like Britt Baker a lot, I sincerely think neither she or AEW deserves that amount of PWI awards. Also, it is good to see them take advantage of that to build her as undisputed champion; O. Cassidy VS A. Cole: Even if I didn't understand all that kind of "Lights out" stipulation match (it looked the same as a NO DQ match, Unsactioned match, or a Extreme Rules match, even a Falls Count Anywhere match) It was very good to end the event. Cassidy and Cole are some of the wrestlers with more hype from the crowd, and that eventually made the match better. They also had some great spots. [****1/2] Good show overall, the best wrestling event I've seen since the beggining of this year"

MJF and CM Punk continue putting on great promos and the Wardlow turn draws near. The inner circle fracturing storyline continued with the six man tag and Leyla Hirsch's heel turn was also progressed. The House of Black promo video was fantastic, I've had it on repeat for days."

Opening with that TNT Championship match was insane, and then you end it with DANHAUSEN, THIS IS WHAT MAKES WRESTLING INCREDIBLE! in the best way, the last 10 minutes of this broadcast felt like a RAW from 1998-1999 or 2002-2003. Just sublime. so many stars, so many moves, the falling through the stage. AEW GETS IT, THEY GET WHAT MAKES THE SPORT WORK"

Like, nearly every high spot from the ladders they did, they were both back on their feet in a matter of seconds. Didn't really like the referee getting directly involved also, the commentators even pointing this out. Main was a clueless brawl with a weird finish. The rest of the matches weren't anything special, and I was bored out of my mind by the promo segments."
Moonvest wrote on 28.01.2022:
[6.0] "Great opening and closing. MJF needs an editor desperately, talks for so long and gets to the point way after the fact. Britt Baker had the most pointless segment in all of tv this week. Not just wrestling like ALL of tv. It's interesting AEW thinks dark is watched enough that Leyla and Red would have anything going for them with the crowd. Main event was really fun, I found the backstage spot oddly placed. Like they just fought back there, did a table spot and left. Fun show. Cody and Sammy stole the whole night."

Prince Osborne wrote on 28.01.2022:
[8.0] "The opener was a great match that had a really good first half and a frenzy second half where the breath window between spots could've been more realistic. Wardlow had his homecoming in style while The Inner Circle's fractures have certainly begun as it aged like fine wine. Punk & MJF had another promo with much less references from their previous exchanges as it was a bit more focused. The women did solid work but the lack of heat in their story missed the fans' garnering. Britt Baker had a really decent promo that went longer than expected. The main event was fun with cool spots and a much cooler debut in Danhausen. Extra perks to the build to this week's Rampage & next week's Dynamite with loaded matches and that's a strong special Dynamite episode."

[5.0] "for several weeks now i have come to the conclusion that aew in the past has accustomed us too well. The quality has gone down, it's objective. The initial match was good, Cody and Guevara gave a good show but I don't find Guevara champion credible. But it's a personal thing I suppose. Nice segment between MJF and Punk, although I would have humiliated Punk less, but that's okay. The rest of the show' All very mediocre. The women's match was of no interest to anyone. Britt Baker's promo with all the awards given by mark supreme is totally absurd, sometimes, even in kayabe, a little humility wouldn't hurt. I avoid saying this girl doesn't have a credible opponent from...ever. The main event was terrible. Let me explain, the match I accept but the ending absolutely not. Especially the defeat of Cole. But that's okay, it's always going to be okay anyway. Ah and Danhausen' useless. I can't understand how anyone can give this show a 10. Maybe one is too much of a mark'"

[6.0] "Nice TV ladder match, but definitely overstayed its welcome; plodding highspot-heavy last half (but they were really good spots); plus, the typical bane of ladder matches - impossible suspension of disbelief by stalling with the ladder climb. But it was good, you should watch. The women's match was an example in how, sometimes, aew can benefit from doing two short singles matches instead, just to give nobodies more exposure (green wrestlers can look better in shorter matches anyways). For the type of shows aew is doing now, at this stage, featuring two not over wrestlers doing the kind of match they had...neither benefited by being out there for that long - for anyone who questions "why factions and interference", this is why. Another protracted Punk/MJF mic-off may be too much for some at this point; I think they've only impressed once. The Baker promo was unfortunately not one of her best, meandering with no direction, and for whatever reason, didn't set up the next thing for her. Hopefully the reason was schedule conflict because she didn't need another self-adulating promo. Main was fine, unremarkable gimmick match that hopefully closed a non-memorable feud."

[7.0] "A very front loaded show containing a great opening Ladder match, a solid angle building match with Inner Circle and capped off by a great segment involving C.M. Punk and MJF. Punk and MJF ended 2021 as the hottest feud in the industry and it has continued on in 2022. I am looking forward to seeing this continue to unfold as we head farther into the year. The back half was average at best and the main event wasn't my cup of tea. Hopefully this ends Cole and Orange and they can both move on to bigger and better things. Overall a very good episode of Dynamite."
MaveDeltzer wrote on 27.01.2022:
[6.0] "Only AEW could start with something as wild and entertaining as that ladder match (which had its faults but was still pretty fun, I thought) and still leave you wondering if the episode was even satisfactory by the end. Lots of talk along with two needless matches and a mediocre six-man made the middle portion of this episode feel extremely hollow, though at least something is happening with The Inner Circle. The main event to me was another example of AEW not really knowing what it wants to be and the match suffered for it."

"Opener was fantastic. Sammy is a really impressive athlete, and does som truly amazing things in the ring. But I'm scared he's going to seriously injure himself some day if he keep this up. Cody is also a really good worker, even though he isn't exactly the most popular guy in AEW right now. The Punk/MJF segment was good, as usual. Tag was okay. The women's match was rough to watch. AEW's women's division has a lot of green wrestlers right now. They could really need some new women with more experience on their roster. Britt Baker's promo was okay. The crowd was really into the main event, and certain parts of it was really good. But I struggle to get invested in Cassidy's comedy spots, especially when it's done in a main event spot."
CactusJack79 wrote on 27.01.2022:
"[9.0] great show, AEW really know how to do a solid episode with wise stories. the only thing that i can say it wasn't that good is Leyla vs Red velvet match... the match wasn't good, they should fight on dark or dark-elevation at this time."
theworker wrote on 27.01.2022:
[6.0] "Another average Dynamite. Ladder match opener was certainly exciting, though more of a stunt show than a wrestling match. MJF and Punk is officially stale. The war of words between the two -- though obviously well-performed -- has gone on far too long without a blow off, and the self-referential nature of their segments has lost its impact. The impending turn of Wardlow and a possible confrontation between him and MLF is now the hotter angle. Britt Baker delivered her worst in-ring promo in months, getting cheap heat from trashing the Cleveland Browns and still expecting the crowd to chant "D.M.D." along with her at the end (which they did). Cassidy and Cole had the same match they always do, this time with a dangerous looking fall through a gimmicked floor as the finish. I worry someone in this company will suffer a serious injury from one of these reckless bumps."
Matt Macks wrote on 27.01.2022:
[8.0] "Another rock solid Dynamite story-wise and with some great matches to boot. The opener was crazy and outshined the main event in my eyes, but both matches were full of mostly good action and some dangerous, probably too dangerous, situations. Sammy nearly killed himself falling from the ladder, catching the title construction with his legs during the superplex and doing the senton on the ladder. Cole went almost head-first into the puny cardboard stage trap. I hope they realize that they can be crazy without going insane. Aside from the matches, I liked the storyline progression all across the board. The big angle obviously was Punk and MJF and the match announcement for Chicago, which should be a barnburner."

The main event was very good, except for a pointless Danhausen debut, with a surprise finish. Recommend those two matches, everything else can be skipped."

That counts the main event as well. I'm sick of this Orange Cassidy/Adam Cole feud. I like both men, Cassidy had a good showing, though Cole should be mixing with main event stars, not feuding with Best Friends. Getting Cutler involved was also a little daft."

Derek Joists wrote on 27.01.2022:
[9.0] "One of the best episodes of Dynamite to date, especially coming off of a relatively bad run. The only real weakness was the six-man match, it's clear what they were trying to do there but it didn't quite work. The opening and closing matches were amazing - despite both being stipulation matches they mixed in plenty of real wrestling with the shenanigans which stopped them being just spotfests. Leyla Hirsch again showed why she's one of the best women in the division, and hopefully will get a big push soon, and Danhausen is All Elite! Add to that several great promos and it was an amazing episode."

[5.0] "I had lofty expectations for this show and they were, well, not met. The opener was okay but had a TON of flaws. Also what was the point of Cody winning the belt if Sammy was just gonna win it back' Cody did absolutely nothing with the belt. Wardlow squash was fine. Punk/MJF promo is just retreading old ground. This feud, despite a hot start, has died down so incredibly hard and hopefully next week is the end of it. 6 man tag wasn't bad but very boring until the last 2 minutes or so. Women's match, despite a fair number of Red Velvet botches, was a passable match. Leyla is awesome and tried her best to carry. Baker's promo was kind of all over the place, but she's charismatic and made it work I guess. The main event, while not necessarily BAD, I didn't particularly enjoy. There were some cool spots I guess, but the finish was awful. You're trying to tell me Adam Cole can't escape a weak hug from Orange Cassidy' Give me a break. You have to be an All Elite Drone to be able to digest the mediocrity of the product right now. Hopefully it gets better, but this show did nothing to make me believe that it will."

The best part of course was the MJF and CM Punk storyline advancing further, with MJF even paying some tribute to KENTA at the end of the great segment. God, I'm so relieved."

Cody hits a Cross Rhodes off the top of the ladder; moments later, Sammy pops up like nothing happened and scurries up the ladder. Shit like this makes all the moves feel meaningless. It ruins my immersion. I really wish we would have gotten the Wardlow turn here. Why drag it out more' Trios- sucks it didn't get more time. Again it feels like storylines are dragging on waaaay too long. PnP need to ditch the face paint and be fun again away from Jericho. They had such a good act going. I muted the Britt Baker promo. The main event was VERY underwhelming."

[6.0] "Very meh episode of AEW Dynamite tonight. For a special episode, not much felt special. Sammy and Cody had a slog of a match at a snails pace, but I am glad Sammy won I guess. Wardlow did his usual jobber squash that does nothing for anyone. Inner Circle match was skippable save for the teases that Inner Circle are breaking up. Leyla and Velvet had a better match than I expected and we are building towards Statlander Vs Leyla. Main event was MOTN, as expected. I'd call it the weakest lights out match AEW has had so far, but it wasn't a bad match at all, I really enjoyed it. The Punk/MJF segment fell flat for me, they just repeated themselves a lot for several minutes, I hope the feud ends with the match next week. Same thing with the Britt Baker promo, a lot of repetition for just on air time filler. Nyla Rose wants Ruby Soho again, that could be good. Julia gets a title match with Jade Cargill, that'll be bad. PAC & Penta Vs Malakai & Brody set up, that could be tag team MOTY. All in all, a skippable Dynamite but I'd recommend checking out the main event."

Props to Cody as well as always it takes two to tango and he put his body on the line in this one too. I am beyond hyped for the Punk vs MJF match finally happening next week and their segment was great as always. I wish the crowd was a bit more into it though, they seemed quiet at times. The rest of the matches were okay but the main event was a straight up banger, and OC deserves more credit than just being referred to as a 'comedy' worker/gimmick."

Some good backstage and pre recorded segments to set up future matches, shout out to Hangman's reaction to the Texas Death Match announcement. The Britt segment was mostly just filler. The main Event between Cole and Orange was super fun match to close off an overall awesome episode"

The opener and main event matches were great fun and very entertaining, and the middle had some brilliant promo work from MJF and CM Punk, but I really didn't get much else out of the show. There was a lot of down time between matches which messed with the pace of the show, and I think some booking decisions were very questionable. Not sure why you'd book Hirsch to win by cheating instead of having her dominate, and 2.0 really look weak by having no significant wins right now. Still despite that I really enjoyed the show."
