Nach dem vierten Match kam das Roster von Pro Wrestling NOAH zum Ring. Kenou und Kaito Kiyomiya lieferten sich dabei ein Wortgefecht mit Los Ingobernables de Japon.
[8.0] "[RERATING] ? Since I've rewatched Okada vs. Ospreay II, I'm changing my mind. Both nights of WK16 were pretty equals, but the big scene delivered a bit better during the second. Tanahasi vs. KENTA was something as well, they came at the Dome to destroy the living shit out of each other."
[6.0] "Definitely the better of the two nights. You can watch the main event of Night 1 and then start this show, without losing anything of value. Still not as good as years gone by, but that's the industry as a whole right now anyway. [GBH/Nagata vs Bullet Club] - 1 ½ stars. [Wato/TenKoji vs Suzuki-gun] - 2 ½ stars. [Suzuki-Gun vs LiJ] - 2 ¾ stars. [Jr Tag 3 way] - 3 ¼ stars. [Iwatani/Starlight Kid vs Kamitani/Nakano] - 3 ½ stars. [KOPW 4 way] - 3 ¼ stars. [HoT vs CHAOS] - 1 ½ stars (Worst of the Night). [SANADA vs G-O-K] - 3 ½ stars. [Naito vs Cobb] - 3 stars. [KENTA vs Tanahashi] - 4 ½ stars. [Okada vs Ospreay] - 5 stars (Match of the Night, MOTYC). Average match rating: 3.11 of 5 stars (or 6.22 of 10). Rounded to 6 for Cagematch."
[6.0] "This card looked on paper better than the first night. And it gladly was although not by a landslide. I liked how there were no shitty matches halfway through the night (there were in the pre show) and the last three matches delivered better than night 1"
[6.0] "The second day at Tokyo Dome for NJPW in 2022 had a lot more potential than the slightly disappointing first show, but apart from a better main event, I'm not sure if the rest of the show managed to top the previous night. Every match felt a bit flat, especially with the Covid restricted quietness of the Dome which got half the attendance of the first show. The first match I appreciated on the show wasn't even a New Japan match, it was the Stardom guest match with the girls wanting to give the fans more fun than most of the NJPW wanted to give them [** 1/2]. I sort of got into SANADA/Great-O-Khan [** 1/4], but it wasn't exactly one I was hyped for. Tetsuya Naito vs Jeff Cobb was good. Never got into third gear, but it was the closest New Japan had gotten to a worth wild match up to that point, and it's already the 9th match on the show! [** 1/2]. Then came the biggest disappointment for me. KENTA/Tanahashi, and they had to make it a hardcore match, a style which is neither guy's forte. By the time KENTA struggled to set-up the big ladder, the steam had ran out for me. Embarrassing from the two greats in an environment none of them belonged. But then it was main event time and here we had a proper MOTYC! Natural rivals Okada and Ospreay! You had to expect it being a little long, but there wasn't that much time wasted, and thanks to some amazing moments, the down-time was almost needed to digest the fantastic portions they did provide. This is the NJPW I love! [****]."
[10.0] "If you give me a match as good as Okada and Ospreay to close the show, it's gonna be very hard for me not to love the show. Not to mention the US Title match was filled with dramatic, brutal spots. And the Stardom match was a very fun sprint. And Naito and Cobb had a heck of a match, leading to the challenge at the end of the night. There may have been some questionable stuff on this show, and the crowd restrictions hurt. But at the end of the day, the Main event carried the show to great heights. Watch that match. You won't be disappointed."
[6.0] "I wasn't rushing to watch this after Night 1 and I wasn't wrong to. Most of this card is skippable at best, even the fun stuff like the Stardom tag and the KOPW match. Naito vs Cobb & Tanahashi vs KENTA were great matches, don't get me wrong, but there's a LOT of nothing before it and the main event was an even more disappointing overly-long modern New Japan main that wastes Okada's talents and puts more mileage on his body than they need to."
[7.0] "Much better than Night 1, this really felt like a Wrestle Kingdom (not the best of course). Must-see matches: Stardom Tag, Kenta vs Tana and Okada vs Ospreay."
[7.0] "The final two matches and the STARDOM match felt like Tokyo Dome matches, and I'd say the final two are absolute must see matches. Everything else really just felt like a sub-standard big event not worthy of the Tokyo Dome. But man, those three matches were incredible spectacles. SANADA v O-Kahn was really good although it didn't feel like a big match, I enjoyed it. Naito v Cobb was hampered by what seemed like a legit injury on Cobb's knee, but they made the best of it and the match was still good. Everything else was kinda skippable and not really worth mentioning, which is very disappointing for a Wrestle Kingdom, Tokyo Dome event. English commentary was really good, especially Chris Charlton giving multiple history lessons throughout the night. I recommend at least the final two matches, and recommend the entire event with the caveat that it doesn't feel like a Wrestle Kingdom for most of it."
[9.0] "Very good night of action and much better than night 1. The last two matches were great. Solid tag team action from Stardom and the Junior Heavyweights. KOPW and Never matches were ok, Sanada O-Khan was good but unspectacular and Cobb and Naito was short but very good. Also seeing Keji Mutoh lead out the entire Noah roster was cool."
[8.0] "Great show from NJPW, significantly better than the previous night. I'd say the highs are about the same but the lows aren't nearly as low. Was also really great to see Stardom make the main card. I'd recommend that match and the main event."
[6.0] "6 - Had less of the Wrestle Kingdom shine as yesterday, until the main event looked more in place at WK than any other match. Watched from the KOPW match, SANADA GOK was actively disinteresting, and I couldn't shake the thought that Cobb was legit hurt. The semi was an all around bad hardcore match that was saved by crazy spots at the end. Then Ospreay returned to the main stage and proved he belonged."
[7.0] "Overall, Night 2 isn't as strong as night 1, however this was still a very entertaining watch. Special shout out to Tanahashi and Kenta, who put themselves through absolute hell in that No DQ match for the IWGP United States title, and to Ospreay and Okada, who put on one of the finest Wrestle Kingdom main events in history."
[7.0] "This was a great show, it seems to have been seen by a lot less people too. Pre show shouldn't have even been shown. This felt more like a "Wrestle Kingdom", good marquee matches but nothing topped the main event. KENTA and Tanahashi went all out in a match I'm not sure either should've given injury histories. STARDOM and NOAH's parts here upped how "big" this felt. HOT really brought down what could have been a good midshow, post KOPW break. Looking forward to Okada's Inoki cosplay year."
[7.0] "Well it was better than Night 1, thank God. Nothing on this show was badddddddd per say. However, both the "Special singles matches" and the 6 man Tag were boring and useless. The KOPW match wasn't boring, but was certainly useless. As for the rest of the show: the STARDOM girls had a fun Tag Match, the opener (No pre show in this house) with the Jr tags was good and the US title match was extremely boring until the end when it was horribly violent so i can't say it's bad. The main event was the best thing imo from night 1 or 2, but it wasn't a 5 star classic or anything. I don't wanna be a hater though, it was very good and I'm glad it ended the way it did. Poor Shingo though, he got owned by that dude from NOAH and then did Commentary, what a dork"
[7.0] "Good event. I didn't watch the pre-show, and I zoned out hard during the 6 Man NEVER Openweight Title match, but everything else I saw I liked. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs KENTA was amazing and Ospreay vs Okada was pure perfection, a very early MOTY contender, as it seems to be always the case when Ospreay is involved. The best wrestler in the world right now is not Kenny Omega, is not Brian Danielson, it sure as hell is not CM Punk, it is Will Ospreay."
[8.0] "-pre show 5/10: not needed at all, really. Even Wato tapping out Desperado could've been done on a road show. -Junior Tag Title 7/10: fun and fast paced, they played some good spots and also paid off the one year long angle of Phantasmo's loaded boot. -Stardom match 7/10: like the opener this was extremely quicky, and the four ladies were able to showcase their insane offense of kicks, bridging suplex and combined tag action. -KOPW Title 6/10: not bad, it was very short and Suzuki killed people. -NEVER 6 Man Title 6/10: good choice to keep it short and sweet. Never boring and it'll lead to more matches between the factions. Don't like HOT' Good. -SANADA vs O-Khan 7/10: I disagree with the rating. I found it a very solid match as O-Khan once agan showed off his versatility, but in the end fell victim to his usual arrogance and that's the story of almost all his defeats. -Naito vs Cobb 7.5/10: this was an extremely solid and well laid out match. Cobb's insane power matched the intelligence and leg work of Naito for a clash of styles that rewarded the more experienced Naito, who needed a strong win ahead of his title challenge. -Tanahashi vs KENTA 8/10: yes, some spots were clunky but the match was insane for the standards of NJPW and Tanahashi, it looked more like an AEW street fight than a NJPW match and we've seen it all, huge ladders, table spots, kendo sticks, chairs and the classy touch of KENTA's inseparable briefcase. -Okada vs Ospreay 9/10: this match was just incredible. It had so many callbacks to previous matches they had, as Ospreay redid the insane spot from WK 12 and the wrist control spot that Okada used from WK 10, plus many others, they have this undeniable chemistry and dynamic and in a sense, Okada might have become Ospreay's Tanahashi. -show 8.5/10: better than night 1, not perfect by any means but the last 4 matches are an incredibly solid stretch and overall, WK 16 left us with 8 matches that reached at least 7.5/10, this is why even with the booking problems and the useless undercard tag bouts, topping NJPW is still very hard."
[9.0] "Significantly better than night 1, and although still not quite up to standards of recent wrestle kingdoms, this was still great. It's more of an 8.5 but I'm rounding up. The evil match wasn't good, but basically everything else on the main card delivered. Stardom match was really fun. Cobb and Naito was very good, albeit a bit short. Tana and Kenta far exceeded my expectations. And Okada and Ospreay had an elite Tokyo dome main event. Everytime they wrestle, it's near perfection and this was no different. Great show overall, take out the evil match and it's easily a 9/10."
[6.0] "Opener was good. Finally can put the ELP boot story behind us. Stardom match was really good. Next two matches were pretty . Great-O-Khan was very sloppy vs SANADA. Naito vs Jeff Cobb was alright. Not a lot of chemistry between the two. The US title match was too dangerous for my liking. KENTA seems to have broken his nose. The main event was amazing and a MOTY contender. Overall much better than the first night, but still no where near past Wrestle Kingdoms. If you are tight on time just watch the main event."
[8.0] "Just far better than the first night. Felt like there was way less filler in this card although there was still a bit of stuff that I didn't care for. I also liked the variety that we got in match types this card, but the main event was the icing on the cake that made Night 2 good. (****)"
[9.0] "Another excellent WK night, as usual. So many cool moments in this one, the Stardom tag, Suzuki finally getting a hold of KOPW, Flying Tigers retaining, the ludicrously bloody US Title Match which was A LOT better than I think anyone expected (Let's just hope KENTA is all right), Ospreay's lighting rig spot, Ospreay's entrance, Okada finally rising to the top again, almost the entire NOAH roster coming out to declare war, a great performance by O-Khan, wow. Had EVIL and his goobers (with all due respect to Yujiro and SHO) not mucked things up as usual, I'd call this a perfect show."
[6.0] "Much better compared to Night 1 even though on paper I liked the matches in general about the same. It just felt like a better paced and more interesting show despite not really having any standout matches besides the main event."
[7.0] "This was a really mixed show carried to a good rating by virtue of it's peaks being so strong. Okada vs Ospreay was the best match across both nights. Tana vs KENTA was the spectacle it should have been, the Stardom offer match was a hella fun high speed affair and Naito vs Cobb was pretty good. Everything else was mediocre to fine though."
[9.0] "Pretty good show, it was better than the first night. Ospreay and Okada is a MOTYC already, and the other three last matches were great. I hope New Japan regain some of the momentum they had before the pandemic."
[8.0] "Much better Than night 1. The Main event was amazing, Loved Kenta/Tanahashi the Junior heavyweight threeway and The Stardom tag, everything else apart from the House of Torture was solid to good as well"
[7.0] "This was better than Night 1, but still a not so great rating for a major show. Still, we had NOAH invading NJPW and that hyped me as fuck! I'm really excited for January 8th in Yokohama."
[6.0] "A typical one-match show, the main event was great but besides that there was nothing impressive. The best part besides the main event might be the invasion of NOAH. The House Of Torture Bullshit continued, and the US championship match was really boring and made me feel uncomfortable(I really can't understand why so many people like it). The great main event can't save this show, it's still not good enough, especially comparing with NOAH The New Year. 2022 is the 50th anniversary of New Japan, but it seems that this is not a good start."
[7.0] "Much better than the first night. The match were okay. Top 3: Stardom tag team match, No DQ match and the ME. NOAH showed with all the roster was nicee. The last 2 matches were above ***3/4 stars. We had to spend our time seeing an Evil's match but well, everything is not perfect."
[9.0] "I enjoyed this show, if there wasn't house of torture i'll give it a 10 every match was above what i've expected, we got a MOTYC ( and the MOTY so far ) great stuff by NJPW"
[7.0] "This was a whole lot better than night one but that really is not saying much. At least in this one everything was at least good but still a long way off the top to bottom quality of previous shows from the Tokyo Dome."
