[8.0] "Very good show from Impact. Really not a bad match on the card. I had alot of fun with the Hardcore War tag match. My favorite match of the night was Trey Vs Maclin"

[7.0] "From what I've seen, this was a good PPV for Impact to start the new year. Jonah vs. Josh Alexander was my MOTN, with the ROH World Championship match being second. Kudos for Impact treating the Knockouts as equal and it showed here. This PPV also had some nice stories development with the involvement of ROH's stars."

[8.0] "For once, IMPACT produced quite a consistent show. From start to the finish, that was superb. X-Division, Pure Rules and JONAH vs. Alexander tored the house down. IMPACT has a great roster and finaly using it in the most good way possible. They have quite a great momentum in the recent weeks, hoping they'll kept it."

[6.0] "During the first part of this show, I thought this was proving IMPACT as a must watch promotion for the workrate fan in 2022. However, this show took a bit of a dive during the second half. The plunder/gimmick matches (outside of the Pure rules match) were glaring weak spots. IMPACT has a great roster who can wrestle - so let them actually wrestle and not be bogged down by stipulations! Still an above average show for sure, if not anywhere near greatness. [Ultimate X match] - 3 stars. [Trey Miguel vs Maclin] - 3 ¾ stars. [Gresham vs Sabin] - 4 ¼ stars (Match of the Night). [Alexander vs JONAH] - 3 ½ stars. [Hardcore War 10 man tag] - 2 ¼ stars (Worst of the Night). [Moose vs Cardona vs Morrissey] - 3 ¼ stars. [Mickie James vs Deonna] - 2 ½ stars. Average match rating: 3.21 of 5 stars (or 6.42 of 10). Rounded to 6 for Cagematch."

[8.0] "While the last 3 matches weren't up to par with the strengths of the first half of the card, the three standout matches of Gresham'/Sabin, Josh Alexander/JONAH & the X-Division Title match really make this show a solid recommendation."

[5.0] "This show had good matches and it made me upset that the production was so terrible. The audio for commentary kept going from good to bad and we even got a test color pattern during Josh Alexander vs. JONAH. I don't like Tom Phillips as an announcer and thankfully Ian Riccaboni came in for The ROH World Title match, that really added to what that fantastic match. Like I said there were good matches but I have to include the production value in my grade, and it doesn't matter how good the wrestling is if the VOD is unwatchable. Honestly this wasn't worth my $40 and I feel bad about giving Impact a chance again. It's epically annoying considering Impact is own by a mass media company so they should know how to make a broadcast."

[9.0] "The first half of the show was literally exellent, with making history opener, that was much better than expected, and three next matches all stealing the show. Next two matches although were not standing up to the standards of the matches before, despite being decent. Great Main event. If not those two matches - hardcore war and triple threat, it would be the greatest Impact show of all time"

[5.0] "The event was not that satistying to me, I only loved the X-Division title match and ROH title, which irinocally were the shortest ones, a mere 10+ minutes. All of the other matches were some sort of bad extreme rules kind of match where you see old style independent wrestlers with close to zero likability and charisma go at each other for whatever reason. This is my point, the build-up to this event was bad and non sufficient, except for the main event. That said, all of the said matches (including the main event) were filled with bad executed spots and botches and were mostly anti-climatic"
SimonCopp wrote on 10.01.2022:
[6.0] "This was a decent show but it had a major problem in that it peaked too early in match quality. I thought Miguel vs Maclin was very good and the best match, Gresham vs Sabin was also very good and Jonah vs Alexander was good but everything else was just there. The main and semi-main were both marred by poor pacing. The show also had way too many stips. This was the first TNA/Impact show I've watched in years and it simply wasn't anywhere near strong enough for me to consider picking them up as one of the promotions I watch regularly."

[5.0] "This had a good middle period but lost a lot of points for a poor opener and a bland final 3 run of matches. The women's Ultimate X match was pretty bad, featuring sloppy technique, obviously set-up spots which were 'decent' at best, and not much drama in the attempted 'X' grabs. At least they all seemed to try their best. **1/4. Miguel vs Maclin was the match Impact *should* have opened this show with, because it was really fun and energetic. A classic story of the flashy high-flyer vs the pissed-off powerhouse. Some of Maclin's offence looked pretty brutal, and Miguel hit quite a few creative or at least relatively complex and dangerous-looking stunts. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Gresham vs Sabin was another match that was pretty good but which would have benefitted from more time. Gresham's technical work was quite varied and painful-looking. Sabin was mostly just along for the ride, though his selling and his few bursts of big offence were good. The false finish on Sabin's Cradle Shock was cool, and the entire final few minutes were very exciting. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Jonah vs Alexander continued the streak of good matches. Jonah's big-man spots and ribs-targeting were good, and Alexander sold well while responding with some intense offence. Nice idea with Alexander targeting the ankle, though Jonah's selling could have been better. ***1/4 - ***1/2. After 3 matches in a row that I thought all ended too quickly, I actually thought the Hardcore War match was way too long. It was a mix of bland wrestling, bland brawling, and bland weapon attacks. The wrestlers and commentators kept trying to sell this as a truly 'hardcore war', but it was honestly very tame by today's standards. If you want to go for 'spectacle' then at least show some creativity. **1/2. The ROH invasion in the post-match was fun, at least. Moose vs Morrissey vs Cardona was thankfully a return to wrestling, but it wasn't very exciting. All 3 guys tried, but they showed no real creativity, intensity, or especially impressive chemistry. It was just wrestling moves for the sake of taking up time. Cardona was the best by fact of being the most energetic, but he was still pretty mediocre. The overbooking at the end with the ref bumps, interference, and visual pins was pretty tiresome. **1/2. Mickie vs Deonna combined the worst of the last 2 matches together, giving us even lower-effort wrestling AND super bland brawling and weapon attacks. The concept of getting a fall and *then* needing a 10-count to win also just felt needlessly convoluted and meant there was even less drama in those near falls. Just have a straight Last Man Standing match in the first place. Everything they attempted in the final few minutes looked totally amateur, and what came before that wasn't much better either. This still had some small semblance of cohesion, so it wasn't awful but it definitely wasn't enjoyable. **"

[9.0] "One of the best Impact shows I've seen and deserving of more attention than Impact usually gets. The only thing which almost makes me rate this a point lower is that the wheels kind of came off in the final few minutes of the main event, and it's a stipulation which I'm not really a fan of in general (regular Last Man Standing rules are much better). The string of matches from the X-Division title match up to and including Jonah vs Alexander was really solid. I thought the three-way was a lot of fun, too."

[10.0] "WOW! Just a fantastic PPV last night! All the matches ranged from Good to Amazing, with the Trey/Maclin, Gresham/Sabin & JONAH/Alexander matches all being Amazing, early MOTYC! Both of the Knockouts matches were Really Good & good choices to bookend the show! The World Title match & the Hardcore War were Good matches, plus the ROH Invasion after the latter match was a great surprise! Finally, Tom Hannifan did a Really Good job in his debut with the company, & had good chemistry with D'Lo! I definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't seen it!"

[6.0] "It was a fairly mid ppv for Impact standards lately. I was 50/50 on booking decisions but it was enjoyable nonetheless and honestly the Steve Maclin vs. Trey Miguel X Division Championship match was my favorite match on the show. Josh Alexander and Mickie James winning were both pleasant surprises though. Violent By Design losing was pretty lame. They might as well stick a fork in that faction."

[9.0] "An awesome card from beginning to end Miguel/Maclin and Sabin/Gresham being in my early top of the year list, every single match delivered either technical wrestling, big high spots, hoss matches or badass hardcore spots. Couple that with some surpries and a great commentary team, its the best impact show in quite a while"

[10.0] "I'm rarely so generous with Impact Wrestling and I'm fully aware that this company has its ups and downs despite all the support I give them since years now but here I have to be generous this time because they have simply produced their best show IN YEARS without a shadow of a doubt, I don't say that easily so it's that I really mean it and some people should stop sleeping on this federation which offers such a qualitative product. There were zero bad matches on this card, everything delivered as it should and the addition of Tom Philips in commentary is directly felt because he's truly excellent at his job. I've always found him to be very good at it but this is even better because he has more freedom and because he doesn't have Vince McMahon talking to him in his headset. Here are my ratings for the show : - Women's Ultimate-X (***1/4) - Trey Miguel vs. Steve Maclin (***1/2) - Jonathan Gresham vs. Chris Sabin (***3/4) - Josh Alexander vs. JONAH (****) - Ten-Man Hardcore War (***3/4) - Moose vs. W. Morrissey vs. Matt Cardona (***1/2) - Mickie James vs. Deonna Purrazzo (***3/4) - Top to bottom a fn' stacked card, this show RULED."

[9.0] "The opener was fun and I'm glad it was kept short since it would hurt the men's Ultimate X value if kept long. Tasha was a surprise pick as I rooted for Chelsea/Frost. The X-Division title match was really good and both men slugged it out for the time given. Can't wait to see who's next in line for Trey. Gresham vs Sabin was another Pure Rules treat and I totally enjoyed this match being here and ROH taking over the independent scene with matches like these. I'm looking forward to Gresham's own promotion - TERMINUS - holding their first event in a matter of days. Josh vs JONAH was another power fight and they did it great. Both looked strong as heck with Josh returning to winning ways. The Hardcore War was a WarGames modification and I liked the way it went. Slow paced and cool spots here. The ROH invasion is intriguing enough to see how it goes. The three-way match was getting heated until the unnecessary ref bump and the things after that were bland. The main event was a great brawl with a rough start but picked up steam slowly. Mickie is about to make history and it's going to blow the roof! Great PPV to kick off Impact's 2022."

[10.0] "Best PPV/Super card of the Anthem era on Impact. Every match was a banger. I know this may be a strange thing to say but I think the show was helped by not having the Knockouts Tag title match as it allowed more time for the other matches to breath. I'm in the UK and wasn't sure if I should stay up to watch live and I'm so glad I did. GO WATCH THIS SHOW!"

[8.0] "A very nice return to form for IMPACT PPVs that were painfully average in 2021. Every match here was PPV-worthy and ranged from good to great. Maybe they should have spread out more the hardcore matches, or do something more classical with the 3-way, but that's a nitpick, because it clearly didn't hurt the crowd. I like the risks taken with the knockouts, the Ultimate X was way better than last women's MITB despite a clearly weaker field, and Mickie/Deonna clearly benefited from the Mickie at Rumble hype."

[8.0] "The first 90 minutes maybe the best content impact has done in forever and they would have been on track for an all timer PPV but the final three matches had low ceilings and were not helped by all being no dq. Once someone has been out through a barbed wire board there is not much a television company can do to top it. Does not take away from great first four matches. Tom Hannifan is a huge upgrade on Matt Striker"
Kung wrote on 09.01.2022:
[8.0] "Forgetting for a second that the main event wasn't very good, mostly because of the stipulation, this was a very strong show from Impact. Three matches, Maclin/Miguel, Sabin/Gresham, and Alexander/JONAH, were all really strong, the ROH invasion was intriguing even if half of the four invaders are wrestlers I don't care for, and not for nothing, but Tom Hannifan did an excellent job on commentary with D-Lo."
Rocky7 wrote on 09.01.2022:
[7.0] "This was on track to be one of the best IMPACT/TNA PPVs, but the last three matches let the air out of the balloon a bit. Miguel/Maclin, Gresham/Sabin and Alexander/JONAH were all great, but they went too similar with the last three, and nothing from those stood out as a result. The Women's Ultimate X was too short as well. Did like the ROH involvement, maybe Ian Riccaboni snuck them in!"

[10.0] "Everything was good to great on this PPV, especially the first four matches. Nevertheless, the final three matches, all of which featured weapons, were worked with passion and kept the crowd hot to the very end. Trey Miguel vs Steve Maclin was my match of the night (and an early contender for Match of the Year). These two worked at a blistering pace and told a great story."

[9.0] "Minus a couple streaming issues during JONAH vs Alexander, I thought this PPV was amazing and its very much an early contender for show of the year. I don't know what happened, maybe its the buzz Smackdown generated the night before, but Impact decided to show their ass tonight. Every wrestler on tonights show and the folks backstage should be proud."
