[7.0] "I'm disappointed because the matches weren't as good as their ratings implied, but the 'important' matches were all still really good, which deserves props. Natsupoi vs Mina was alright. Both had good energy, some entertaining oneupmanship, and a few creative ideas. Their execution wasn't the best, though. **3/4. Saki vs Death was a goofy comedy match with limited actual wrestling. TS;NR (too short; no rating). Koguma vs Himeka was alright. Himekas powerhouse work was fun, though Koguma's offence was pretty generic and a bit sloppy. They had decent chemistry, with Himeka's big strikes being the best moments. **3/4. Mayu vs Kid was a really good and hard-fought grudge battle. Kid showed good aggression and urgency, while Mayu showed good fiery defiance. Kids high-flying and speed-based attacks were all good, but Mayu really overshadowed her with her great strikes and power moves, plus her awesome bumping/selling. Their chemistry was mostly really strong, excluding one bad botch. ***1/2. AZM vs Ruaka was really forgettable. Ruaka did her generic heel-beatdown work and relied on interference, while AZM provided the actual excitement with her speedy and agile movements and attacks. TS;NR. Unagi vs Kamitani was fine. I wanted to like it more because they both showed good energy, passion, and generally worked hard, but they were also both quite unpolished, resulting in some sloppy interactions and outright botches. They at least both had a few somewhat creative/cool spots. **3/4. Konami vs Maika was off. Konami dominated a good amount of this short 6-minute match, but then Maika suddenly just hit her Michinoku Driver for the win, without any proper build-up or drama. At least they both had some really good strikes and submissions in that time, and Maika sold her targeted arm decently, but yeah this was massively rushed. **3/4. Syuri vs Takumi was pretty overrated but still really good. The 1st half was quite slow with mostly nice but inconsequential grappling, while the 2nd half had all their stiff strikes, big signature moves, and spammed near falls. I didn't see anything truly great, and the finish was anti-climactic, but I still thought this was really fun. ***1/2. Utami vs Tam was another really good match. They quickly moved into the fast-paced action after a slow first minute, going after each other with energetic strikes, some big moves on the outside, and then trading bombs back in the ring. They definitely got quite overkill with the many big moves and near falls, but their technique remained mostly very strong, and that non-stop action was still pretty exciting. ***1/2. Syuri vs Momo was pretty overrated. There was nothing truly exciting or special about it that made it fitting as a big tournament final. They admittedly traded some excitingly stiff kicks, but their other exchanges and spots were merely 'good' at best. I also struggled with some of their contrived spots and big-move spam. Still a really good match, but nothing more. ***1/2"
[9.0] "Most of the undercard ranged from decent to good and this delivered big at the business end of the card as the final three matches were great at a minimum. Syuri vs Momo was MOTN."
[7.0] "The tale of two shows. The first nine matches, with the laudable exception of Mayu vs Starlight Kid, ranged from completely unremarkable to bad. As the commeter below me there are a lot of wrestlers in Stardom pushed beyond their paygrade and it really really showed here. This was hard to watch at times. On the other side the final four matches massively delivered, especially considering all matches were finally free of the now tired "NJPW big match" curse. No interminable forearm exchanges? No matches going 30 minutes just for the sake of it? Sign me up!"
[8.0] "Another strong big STARDOM show that leaves the viewer with the most important impression - there is a group of wrestlers (not all of them) that wants to succeed, they win audience over, and they keep the ball rolling. There are pushed wrestlers that are just bad/mid/dead weight, but there are awesome wrestlers that make the difference and make promotion worth following and be excited about it's future."
[10.0] "One of my favourite Stardom events I have seen. All matches were at least very good and my interest was thoroughly maintained throughout the whole show. A few of the later matches were incredibly hard-hitting with a crazy amount of bumps. How awesome was it to have Mina Shirakawa on English commentary as well? She did a great job!"
[9.0] "Another near perfect show for Stardom and an event that crowned Syuri as one of the absolute best in the world. The biggest tour of the year ended with a bang. I'm not sure if it was the best Grand Prix ever but it certainly was the best final day and overall one of the best shows Stardom has ever had."
"This show was the peak of everything that made this entire Grand Prix, and Stardom right now in general, great - despite a couple deflating finishes, every match ranged from very good to fantastic, MOTY contender matches in the final stretch. This show is especially easy to recommend with every match being under 20 minutes - there's never been a better time to get into Stardom, or Joshi as a whole."
[9.0] "The final run of matches were enough to turn this into a great show. Through a lot of the card the invisible hand of the booker felt quite visible cutting matches short abruptly. This nonetheless doesn't diminish the show having 2 MOTY candidates and a handful of other very good story matches."
[8.0] "This was a tale of two shows. Of the first six matches of the PPV, only one match went long enough to feel like a PPV match and that was Mayu/SLK. The other five matches were barely 20 minutes long combined. They weren't bad, but several of them didn't get the opportunity to feel like anything but filler either. Mayu/SLK itself was less than 10 minutes long, so while it was really good, it didn't get the chance to reach great level. Following the first half, Saya/Unagi got good time, and it was a hectic match, but it felt off too. Konami/Maika was really good, but it didn't get the chance to reach great level either, because it was only 6 minutes long. The pacing of this show was really warped and caused this show to not feel like it was worth the big price tag through the first seven PPV matches. That leads to the "other" part of the show: the last three matches. The final three matches were all fantastic and worthy of **** or better. Iroha/Syuri was phenomenal albeit a bit off the rails by the end. Utami/Tam was exactly what I wanted it to be, consisting of big moments and a story to go with it. The main event was a legitimate MOTY contender with a ton of big moments, nonstop action for nearly 20 minutes and was a blast throughout.. That closing stretch of matches might be the best three-match stretch in Stardom history, although I think the first show of this year's tournament might have been as good too.The first seven matches combined get a 6 and a half or 7 out of 10. The final three get a 9 at worst. The promo segment after the epic main event felt like something out of a Western wrestling go home show. It was a hot mess, but entertaining and set up three big matches for the 10/9 show, all of which will be great. Then there was a trophy ceremony a few minutes after that, which went ten minutes and resulted in a bunch of extra trophies being given out. I won't hate on it, because everyone worked so hard and they get something for it I guess. It all just made for a weirdly paced show where more of the undercard matches could've and should've gotten more time, but didn't, even though there was a 4-hour window for the PPV to take place. This show will probably get a lot of 9s and maybe 10s too, due to how great the final three matches were. Mixed altogether though, for a PPV, I will give it an 8, largely elevated by the epic trifecta of matches that capped it off."
