[7.0] "It's a beautifully executed and emotional memorial show for the tragically passed David, one that not only delivered plenty of heartfelt moments but also maintained a high standard of in-ring quality. Kamala vs Kabuki and Reed vs Donovan were the only underwhelming bouts, but everything else more than delivered. JYD vs Link wasn't a masterpiece, yet Dog was over enough to get the crowd going with the simplest of things. A similar case was the mixed tag - Sunshine and Precious didn't exactly put on a Bryan Danielson tribute match, but the fans were still incredibly hot for it. The Super Destroyers once again delivered a fantastic tag team performance, this time against Parsons and Zumhofe, who brought tons of charisma and energy to their surprising title win. The Freebirds vs Von Erichs match was another great entry in their chaotic and heated rivalry. Finally, the main event served as the perfect cherry on top, with Kerry winning the big one in memory of his late brother. The emotion was strong enough to make the bout truly exciting, and the in-ring work was solid, with both men showing great chemistry. A touching way to close the show, capped off by an impressive attendance that created a fantastic atmosphere."

[6.0] "It is memorable for obvious reasons. The David Von Erich's Memorial Show in the larger than life Texas Stadium could not have gone different than it did. On main notes, the matches that stood out the most were Chris Adams and Sunshine against Jimmy Garvin and Precious, which was notably fun, not only because of the match, but also because of Gino Hernandez's random appearance at the beginning doing a soliloquy of how he wasn't featured on the show. The six man battle dubbed "Come As You Are" was great as well, just another all bruising and cruising Von ErichFreebird saga, with Papa Fritz as an extra this time. Kerry and Flair was a great match, tainted by a lazy finish. It would have been far better if Kerry won via Iron Claw. Overall: a great memorial show for David, with potential historic recalls."

[4.0] "A few months after the tragic, premature passing of David von Erich, at his memorial show in front of a massive crowd, his brother Kerry challenges Ric Flair for the belt that David may have been soon to win if fate hadn't had other plans. It's a solid Flair main event of the era and an emotional moment as Kerry wins the gold. It's also easily the one part of the show worth going out of your way to see if you're not a completionist like me. The rest is OK - the Six-Man Tag Title belt is a fun if chaotic entry in the Von Erichs-Freebirds rivalry, the Adams/Sunshine vs. Garvin/Precious mixed tag is reasonably entertaining, and the Tag Title match between the Super Destroyers vs. Parsons & Zumhofe is decent enough (if, in retrospect, you can get past Zumhofe's presence considering what would later be known about him). Still very much a one-match show overall."

[4.0] "Apart from the last two matches the show sucked. However Kerry Von Erich winning the title was an awesome moment which received a huge pop so at least the people went home happy."

"The Great Kabuki w/ Gary Hart vs. Kamala w/ Kimchee & Akbar: From the Cotton Bowl – Kabuki’s thick mane of hair does the job of alluding to J-horror demons thus increasing his heelish appeal. The entire concept w/ bright, flamboyant ring-gear, the mist and the numbchucks, turned this perennial undercarder into a position that proved to be much more financially lucrative…'thank you Gary Hart' says Mera-san. An odd match-up w/ two heel monsters squaring-off. Kamala manhandles Kabuki early. Although I can barely understand WPW's Japanese announcers, their presentation of wrestling as a sport keeps their verbiage and tone of this happening tightly focused, and as such, certain mundane announcements like, “Gary Hart is at ringside, ” sounded much more urgent. Is that a double-nipple grasp Kamala has on Kabuki? Kabuki hits a nice thrust kick from the SE buckle during his comeback but shortly thereafter the accompaniments of both competitors start getting into it. Akbar enters the ring, but before he could do anything to Kabuki, G Hart’s there and he begins to squeeze the life from Akbar’s lungs. A schmozz that ends w/ Hart raising Kabuki’s hands in victory…nahh, a double DQ. 4"

[4.0] "This show not so good. In fact, there is only two matches that worth watching (Six Man Tag Team Match [3/5] and Flair vs. von Erich [3. 5/5]). Another two matches (match for tag team titles [2/5] and Adams & Sunshine vs. Garvin & Precious [2/5]) are at least watchable. This show, it's not the level of the NWA in 1984 and even not the level of the WWF in 1984. P. S. Von Erichs - great wrestling family, David - one of the greatest wrestlers."
