[7.0] "A good show but not up to the standard as expected by NXT so it was a bit underwhelming. First of all , the negatives and the main complaint is the average in ring action . A average Lumis/Theory match , a mediocre and very underwhelming main event , an ok squash featuring L. A Knight , a solid tag team match and the match of the night was Zoey/Dakota and it was good but not anything special or spectacular but still performed above expectations considering Zoey is a rookie and a good squash between Ciampa and Barthel . I was confused on the announcement of Aliyah and Jessi as the nest challengers for the tag titles . God have mercy on us . I never enjoy any Xia Li vignettes . Even the character change has not done much . Really do not know why she is not connecting . Then I really though it was stupid for Oney and Danny to accept a tag title shot because of seduction by Scarlett . The main event made the tag team champions look like fools considering the tag team division got back on its feet just very recently . Now the positives and that was the story advancements . I thought the opening segment was awesome with Finn for once being fire on the mic and Kross seemed natural as well. Devlin returning was cool and most importantly three title matches have been made official for Takeover : Stand and Deliver . All matches have a purpose and I? m excited . The Cole/O? Reilly segment before and after with the cops was pretty awesome and depicts the boiling intensity of the feud . Walter returned as well and it looks like Ciampa/Walter might get announced for Takeover too. Overall , had it not been for the meaningful advancements , this show would have fallen flat on its feet but it did not and that is good news ."
[5.0] "Very average show, which is poor for the high standards of NXT. I realize they were dealt a tough hand, but if this was supposed to get me excited for Takeover, it largely failed. Only had one good match, and that was with a woman that just debuted. The Cole/O? reilly angle was too ridiculous to take seriously. If you just let them cut promos on each other, it would have been way better. The Kross/Balor main event finish was a strange way to build heat. Made no sense why they were teaming in the 1st place. Not to mention it made the tag division look like a joke when Kross was throwing Lorcan around like he was nothing. Speaking of tag, is the Robert Stone brand the best you can do for challengers? Finally, Io is challenging Raquel? Shouldn? t it be the other way around. I feel a turn coming. Having said all that, Takeover sounds awesome with several can? t miss matches. But the build here was underwhelming to say the least."
[4.0] "Weak show. The matches were very average and all the promos and segments were boring. The match I enjoyed the most was the show opener Dexter Lumis vs Austin Theory."
[7.0] "The covid outbreak hampered this show a bit but there were still a lot of interesting events that I'm looking forward to seeing the ramifications of in the coming weeks. Most matches/segments were enjoyable with WALTER's appearance, Kyle and Adam fighting, and Dakota picking up a needed win being the highlights for me."
[7.0] "all things considered with whats been going on at NXT this week, this was a really good show, there were clearly some people missing that appeared on screen, Gargano's, Grizzled Young Vets and Kyle O'reilly all appear on camera but not at the arena, no sign of Pete Dunne, Indi Hartwell, Toni Storm and various others, but felt they delivered a good show in a tough situation, we knew Devlin was going to be there and the match between him and Escobar at takeover should be great, but the surprise return of WALTER to take on Ciampa was great, inject this match into my veins, main event was good the bump Scarlett took was great, as was Dakota vs Zoey, not the best show of the year but a good solid one all things considered 7/10"
[6.0] "This episode was affected by a Covid outbreak at the Performance Center that led to half the announced card being shelved, but the newsworthy moments were the returns of Jordan Devlin and WALTER in time for Takeover, in addition to the advancement of major angles. Other than Kai/Stark, the in-ring wasn't much to shout about this week."
[7.0] "The first NXT episode of the year that I thought was below a 7 1/2 but they have an excuse. The latest breakout caused several advertised matches including the main event, Swerve vs Ruff and other things to be scrapped from it. What they put forth was a solid show despite all of that. The NXT return of WALTER was awesome. The best match was Dakota vs Zoey, who looks like she'll be a star. That match was ***1/4 or ***1/2 worthy. Legado vs Breezango was a good *** match. Lumis vs Theory was a solid **1/2 match. The makeshift main event was fine. As for segments other than WALTER, the aftermath of the main event was really good, the Cole/KOR promo segment was good, Io was a badass once again, etc. They had to change the show a lot on short notice, so while the show was a clear step below usual, it was still worthy of a 7."
