[8.0] "The best show I have seen in a while and it's not even a highly regarded Takeover. If there's one thing that pre-NXT 2.0 Takeovers had over other shows of similar quality is the how digestible they were. There are five matches on this card and while they vary in quality, none of it feels like it didn't need to be on the show. it's pure quality over quantity. The opening match is probably the only match I think wasn't great due to some sloppy ring work and downright bad psychology but it's a ultimately a fun match that served its purpose in making Raquel Gonzalez look like a beast. Gargano and Kushida have a frantic technical masterclass that could realistically main event any card, the fact that it was a secondary championship match is insane. The second Dusty Rhodes Classic Final is much more solid than the opener and while it's not up to par with my usual expectation of the NXT tag team division it's still really good. The NXT Women's Championship triple threat had a lot of hurdles with its placement on the card and a table that didn't want to play ball but all three women delivered a fun and well worked match. The main event earned its spot and somehow didn't let the North American title steal the show because it had some many levels of greatness. Great mat work, great character work, great structure and some good ol fashioned brutality. Even outside of the matches we get the signing of LA Knight and the beginning of the fall of The Undisputed Era as Adam Cole turns on Kyle O'Reilly and Finn Balor. An all round great show that still feels like the tip of the ice berg when it comes to classic Takeovers"

[8.0] "It's a great show, a really good show, no bad matches. By far, the best for me was Grizzled Young Veterans vs. MSK, basically a perfect match from every angle. The rest of the matches weren't bad either; they all had good spots, good dynamics, everything. The very few segments the show had weren't bad, nothing outstanding, but nothing to complain about, so it was fine."

Over NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day (2021) is a real phenomenal show with a superb match card and insane breakup of one of the best wrestling factions ever."

An' talk about a hell of an ending with Adam Cole signed up the End of the greatest NXT faction of all time, The Undisputed ERA by superkicking Balor but mostly Kyle ! Was a killer end of a show to start out a big feud !"

I just don't understand the decision of keeping the NA belt on Gargano but he is entertaining as a heel so I don't care that much. Also Adam Cole's heel turn at the end was just perfect, unexepcted but logic and we'll have KOR and Cole feuding and it's enough to hype me."

[10.0] "Current show of the year for me in the US. The opener over delivered and had a great match. Gargano/Kushida, MSK/GYV, and Dunne/Balor are three of the best WWE matches this year all providing something different and unique to the show. The triple threat could have been stronger but still at least had a good match despite some mishaps. Clean finishes throughout the card. Strong commentary. A solid enough crowd considering the limited numbers in attendance. Wouldn? t just call it the best NXT show of the pandemic era but also one of the strongest Takeovers to take place from start to finish."

Didn't hit as high as the best ones, but more consistent than most. [Shotzi/Ember vs Dakota/Raquel] - 4 stars. [Gargano vs Kushida] - 3 ¾ stars. [MSK vs GYV] - 4 ¼ stars (Match of the Night). [Io vs Mercedes vs Toni] - 3 ¾ stars (Worst of the Night). [Balor vs Dunne] - 4 ¼ stars. Average match rating: 4. 0 of 5 stars (or 8 of 10)."

[8.0] "Quite a nice show with sometimes some strange choices. Kai and Raquel vs Moon et Blackheart **1/2 some botches and miscommunications that set me out of the match. Raquel was as always built like a tank. She just seems to be the Brock Lesnar made woman. Gargano vs Kushida ****1/4+ finally Johnny Takeover is back and Kushida showed what he is/was truly capable of. What a storytelling with that straight up wrestling technical match, no bs from Gargano, he did not cheat a single time. He was there to prove he was still relevant in the ring and damn he is. Too bad for Kushida i truly expected to win. i don't know what will be up for him next... MSK vs GYV ***3/4 really nice clash of styles and an adequate platform for the former Rascalz to sky rocket in the eyes of the public. GYV really put heir opponents over by making them come back from everything. Shirai vs Martinez vs Storm ***1/4 well that was a disapointment i really expected this match to be fantastic but this was clearly a match to slow down the pace between the non-stop action of the previous and the electricity of the main event coming next. I still don't understand why Martinez kicked out of the Storm Zero with no reason. Was it worth it to reduce the impact of this finisher in a filler match without a strong storyline behind it ? It's obvious after this why Gonzalez became the next challenger as she was on fire. Balor vs Dunne **** A takeover worthy main event for sure with this scrap that was as technical as the NA title Match was. It has been some time Balor was worked off on his arm and this match add a new dimension to it with Dunne shredding the fingers of the champion. There was also some recall from the jaw injury of Balor. Only problem about this match : was Balor not strong enough to have to kick out from the Bitter End ? Ilike main event match from WWE because a finisher is a FINISHer and 1 time a year someone kick out of it and it's huge but breaking two finishers in the same show was maybe too much, both in filler matches. The Adam Cole betrayal at the end of the match was a great way to pursue the carrer of Kyle O'Reilly that played it lone wolf throught the main event position. P. S : why the hell do WWE have to always rename the guys they recruit. I mean, Eli Drake was perfect with his name. The imperialism of this company..........."

The quality of matches was generally good to very good but they all went too long and outstayed their welcome. The production was truly horrid though and is what dings the score I've given it. I had to have a lie down after watching the show because the camera work made me disorientated. The piped in audio was distracting and cringe worthy. WWE's production team would do well to learn that less is more."

[9.0] "Amazing. What a show. One of the best shows I have watched in the COViD period. Even better than Takeover 31. MOTN: Gargano Vs KUSHIDA ****1/2. All matches were good. The worst was the Women's match and it could have stolen the show in any TV show, just not a Takeover quality match. The North American Title match and the main event were especially great and the conclusion of the show with Cole superkicking O'Reilly and Balor was freaking fantastic. This is a must see show. The only let down was the crowd. The NXT Crowd surrounding the ring were great but the Thunder Dome screens were just horrible. They rarely reacted. The best they did was a few claps and some thumbs down. It brought my mood down. Aren't there any NXT fans among WWE's Network subscribers? They looked like they had no idea of what they were watching, it was just sad. Thankfully, Rocky7(a cagematch user) cleared up my confusion with The Thunder Dome Screens. I mean the point of those screens is to give a genuine reaction. If its used footage, better leave it and just use some extras. Anyway despite those overated Thunder Dome screens, the whole show was a blast."

The show also closed out with a well-done angle as the Undisputed Era imploded with Cole's turn on O'Reilly, which leaves plenty of intrigue in its wake (where Strong's loyalty lies; how Fish will factor in). Good show overall."

There was nothing that significantly stood out to me here as the quality was high throughout, except for the surprise turn at the end! I would probably watch this event again."

The worst of the night was the women's triple threat but even that was not that bad and was good as a matter of fact. LA Knight or Eli Drake joining the black and gold brand was also a wonderful addition to the roster . The most surprising moment was Cole super kicking Balor and O Reilly marking the end of the most successful faction in NXT history in the Undisputed Era. The only thing I did not like was Josiah's raps but that accounts for almost nothing . If I were to rate this event to 2 decimal places it would be a 9. 92 and a 10 . The best takeover since New York ."

The only match that wasn't fantastic was the womens championship match, which was still a completely fine match, just didn't meet the high standards the matches preceding it had created."

[7.0] "It's not a bad show, but I think it's a little overrated because of the fact that this is the first good Takeover in a little over a year. The women's tag team match was quite incomprehensible. The match between Gargano and Kushida is as frustrating and unstructured as possible. The men's tag team match is good, despite the boring start. The women's triple threat match is not as mediocre as it can show due to the rating, they showed a completely satisfactory program, without swinging to a high level and not disappointing from that. The main event is a classic, where every move mattered and where selling was at a very high level, Gargano and Kushida need to learn from Balor and Dunne. The advent of the Era has caused a lot of negative emotions, I associate Adam Cole with the downfall of NXT as a terrific brand, but they keep shoving it down their throats. I absolutely don't care about the showdown inside their stable, but I wish I could finish watching the show after such a great match."

The second match was the match of the night as kushida and gargano put on an instant classic. This match got 4. 75 stars off me. The third match of the night was a fantastic tag match between MSK and GYV this earned 4. 5 stars off me. The next match was the womens title triple threat this got 3. 5 stars off me. The final match was a pure wrestling match between balor and dunne which got 4. 5 stars off me. The last part of the show was were the storytelling took place as adam cole superkicked both balor and oreilly."

The men's Dusty final and Gargano x Kushida were also good. However, both women's matches were a bit weak. The final segment was very cool and it really "shocked the system". Good PPV but not amazing."

[7.0] "Damnnnn this is the best Takeover I've seen since like 2016. Over the years, I've been very critical of NXT's style of "epic" matches, especially in the main-event scene, but there were absolutely zero bad matches on this show, a few good ones, and even a great one. Moon & Blackheart vs Kai & Gonzalez was a pretty good opener. Blackheart's offence was creative and energetic, and Moon showed off impressive acrobatics and agility, with both of them showing strong tag spots. Kai had decent speed and kicks, and her partner Gonzalez showed some fine bruiser/powerhouse work. The match became a bit messy, but there was mostly quite decent intensity and aggression. Final 1/4th had good desperation from both teams. ***1/4. Gargano vs Kushida is massively overrated on here, but I can still admit that it was really good. It was all The Kushida Show, with him getting to show off his fantastic grappling prowess and looking like an absolute star in the process. Gargano -- one of my least favourite 'top' wrestlers of the last half decade -- was mostly inoffensive here, managing to keep up with Kushida at every step and thankfully not bringing the match down with his melodrama and spotfest nature. He couldn't produce anything offence-wise to Kushida's level sadly, which is why Kushida could only carry this match to its final rating of ***1/2. Nash & Wes vs Drake & Gibson was a pretty fun spotfest. The Grizzled Young Vets played good powerhouse heels, allowing the babyface high-flyers to get in some very cool high spots and acrobatics. It became a bit overkill towards the end, but was still thoroughly enjoyable. Wes looked fantastic. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Io vs Toni vs Mercedes was the worst match on the show, though it at least managed to be fine at worst. Io was the sole highlight here, showing off her ridiculously perfect acrobatics and general movement, all while executing her tremendous signature offence. Mercedes was a fine aggressive heel. Toni did nothing for me; her most memorable moments were just here bumping and selling for Io and Mercedes. Io's win out of nowhere made the finish feel quite rushed. **3/4. Balor vs Dunne was easily MOTN for me. It started with slow but very aggressive and engaging grappling work, eventually evolving to the main story of both men targeting the other's limb (Balor targeting Dunne's leg, Dunne targeting Balor's hands/arms). Both men delivered this offence and respectively sold for the other's offence very well. They then stepped up with some great strikes and general big-move exchanges in the final 5-10 minutes, with their rapid pace nicely following from their slow previous exchanges, and they both still took time to sell their injured limbs very well. Great match -- best WWE/NXT match I've seen in about 3 years. ***3/4 - ****. Please, keep this level of quality up, NXT."

[9.0] "The best front-to-back TakeOver since possibly NOLA in 2018. All the urgency and character motivation that has been missing for years now. Both the Dusty tag finals were intense sprints but told unique stories (the women's building each individual woman, the men's showing off the perfect hivemind functions of the teams), Gargano/Kushida was Johnny Wrestling's best, most intense, least bullshit match since that New Orleans main event, and the main event is possibly Balor's best match ever and a great mix of technical grappling and an absolutely intense, stiff war that is so well-adapted to the COVID era. Only the women's title match, which suffered all the issues all but the rarefied great triple threat matches have, fell short of greatness but even then all three women looked strong. Add in the outstanding closing angle and NXT feels invigorated and must-see for the first time in an age."
