[4.0] "Had hoped for a more hyped start to the year from MLW as both the tag title and National Openweight Title bouts were disappointing. Seeing Rush get some well-earned recognition for his MLW debut was the positive note on this show. Okay match too, even if they could have put it up an extra gear had they wanted to. Marshall von Erich & Ross von Erich (c) -vs- Leo Brien & Michael Patrick - (MLW Tag Title; Texas Tornado Match) [* 1/2], Myron Reed (c) -vs- Lio Rush - (MLW Middleweight Title) [** 1/4], Alexander Hammerstone (c) -vs- Mads Krügger - (MLW National Openweight Title) [* 1/4]"
[5.0] "I don't get why the first match was no disqualification, There was little build to this match and it didn't take long for The Von Erichs to beat The Dirty Blonds anyway. The Middleweight Tittle match was good as it was going to be without a crowd there. The main event was a let down but to be fair this is a free show. I wonder if MLW is going to sell a rematch on a pay per view or if they're just extending the storyline. While this show wasn't a banger I'm still looking forward to seeing what happens between Hammerstone and Contra."
[4.0] "MLW is my favourite promotion but this was super disappointing. I don't think the tag division is deep enough to absolutely bury the Dirty Blondes like that, and it hurts more to see it against the charisma black holes that are the Von Erichs. Lio and Myron are both superb but never seemed to really hit their stride here. Daivari joining Contra! ? Oh please lord let that not last long, repackaging Logan Creed (whilst an improvement for him) barely worked. I'm not sure what they're trying to achieve with Hammerstone and the double count out. Overall this was not a good advert for MLW but I have faith things will pick up again, they always do in MLW."
[5.0] "What was built as "PPV quality" was just one very good match and two fairly average kick-punch bouts, with the other match just taken off the card for some reason, even though Simon Gotch and Jordan Oliver were both there. Hopefully the title bouts over the next two weeks will deliver."
[5.0] "I don't know what it is about MLW since the restart but they've really just not been able to consistently deliver yet. Rush vs. Reed was solid but the other two matches were pretty boring punch-kick brawls and another match that was advertised (Oliver vs. Gotch) simply didn't happen. I thought maybe there were Covid-related issues with Gotch since they said he wasn't in the building but then he just shows up for a backstage beatdown anyway. Speaking of which, adding Daivari to Contra Unit is, uh... a decision they made. Contra is dangerously close to slipping from 1996 nWo to 1998 nWo. The Tom Lawlor promo was good, though. Tom's definitely been the MVP of MLW since reforming Team Filthy. I'm looking forward to Filthy Island."
[6.0] "Very interesting episode since this 2021 start for MLW was sold almost as a ppv. The result was fine with two not incredible matches for my tastes and the very nice title change for the Middleweight Championship due to Lio Rush."
