Die Umsetzung ist dann auch ziemlich antändig, bevor auch die Damen sich zu einem Titelmatch im Tag-Bereich hinreissen lassen. Das ist dann sogar ziemlich viel Star-Power bei den Mädels. Auch Daniel Bryan kann sich endlich des lästigen Zwillings entledigen. Und dann schickt man das WWE Universum mit einem Weihnachtsgeschenk in Form eines Titelwechsels nach Hause. Das ist zwar schön für Biggy, beendet aber im Grunde nur einen Titelrun, bei welchem Zayn nie den Hauch einer Gelegenheit hatte, sein Können seriös unter Beweis zu stellen. Qualitativ im Ring eine passable Episode, die bei mir am Ende aber auch ein kleines Geschmäckle hinterlässt. |

Alle Performer in den vier Matches liefern richtig ordentlich ab und auch das Booking der Finishes ist gelungen, um eine wirklich erinnerungswürdige Show zu produzieren. Das Steel Cage Match zwischen Reigns und Owens ist bereits großartig. Ich weiß nicht so genau, was ich von dem Finish halten soll, als Kevin Owens mit Handschellen an den Käfig gekettet wird, aber es verdirbt dieses für eine WWE-TV-Show ungewöhnlich starke Match auf keinen Fall. Das Women's Tag Title Match fing stark an, hatte aber dann einige Unsauberkeiten drin. Dennoch blieb es am Ende insgesamt auf einem guten Niveau. Daniel Bryan gegen Jey Uso war ebenfalls stark. Daniel Bryan wird hier heimlich durch die Hintertür als nächster Gegner von Roman Reigns etabliert, indem er Jey Uso besiegt und danach davon spricht, den Royal Rumble zu gewinnen und das wäre auch eine Paarung, die ich sehr interessant finden würde. Zum Abschluss des Abends steht dann das Lumberjack Match zwischen Big E und Sami Zayn an, bei dem man einen der seltenen großen Babyface-Feel-Good-Siege sieht. Der Titelgewinn für Big E wirkt hier wie eine richtig große Sache, viel größer als man es vorher gedacht hätte, wenn man gehört hätte, dass Big E der Intercontinental Champion wird. Wenn man diesen Schwung mit Big E mit in die nächsten Shows nehmen kann, könnte es ein guter Run für ihn werden und der Sieg in diesem Match ein Eckpfeiler seiner Singles-Karriere. Mal sehen, ob es so kommt oder ob es nur eine Eintagsfliege war. Alles in allem hat mir sehr gut gefallen, dass jedes Match eine andere Herangehensweise hatte. Keines glich dem anderen. Und wer weiß, was diese Performer heute sich vor der Show vorgenommen hatten und ob sie aus irgendeinem Grund alle besonders motiviert waren, ausgerechnet die Weihnachtsshow zu einem echten Highlight zu machen, aber es hat auf jeden Fall funktioniert und SmackDown ist hier so gut wie seit langem keine WWE Show im Fernsehen mehr. |

Reigns und Owens zeigen auch hier wieder, dass sie sehr viel Chemie und Intensität miteinander haben und gleichzeitig war es ein ganz anderes Match als bei TLC. Es gab hier nonstop Action und vor Allem auch richtige WTF Momente. Die beiden setzten die Stipulation richtig gut um und das Finish war dann auch vom Charakter her richtig passend. Das einleitende Segment des Damenmatches war in meinen Augen wirklich gelungen und auch das Match selbst war mehr als anständig. Alle Beteiligten konnten was zeigen und auch wenn die Sieger feststanden echt unterhaltsam. Richtig gut war dann sogar das Match zwischen Uso und Bryan in welchem Uso zeigte, dass er viel von Reigns übernommen hat. Er attackiert Bryan fast wie entgeistert sodass Bryan seine gewohnt starke Rolle einnehmen konnte. Das ME ist dann wie ich finde schon richtig starkaufgebaut auch mit dem Backstage Segment der Street Profits und Sami Zayn ( in welchem sie eine richtig starke Chemie zeigen). Das wurde dann auch in dem ME stark aufgespielt, welches ein wirklich mehr als anständiges Sports Entertainment Match war, welches mit der Krönung von Big E endete, welche in meinen Augen eine der besten Bookingentscheidungen der jüngeren Vergangenheit darstellt. Zudem war das - so wie alles an diesem Abend - richtig stark erzählt. Insgesamt war das eine der besten Smack Down Ausgaben seit längerer Zeit und wirklich sehr gut, sodass ich 9 Punkte für angemessen halte. |

Die Stipulation wird ausgenutzt und bietet am Ende doch eine passende Lücke, die Reigns mal wieder mit guter Charakterarbeit füllt. Das Vorgeplänkel für das Damen-Match ist noch das Lowlight der Show, aber schon okay, um ihnen die entsprechende Bühne zu geben. Auch das Match macht vieles richtig und nutzt den Triple Threat-Rahmen passend aus. Champs etwas zu dominant, aber die Konstellation der Teams funktioniert gut. Die Street Profits mit dem Gruß zur Showmitte geben Sami noch etwas passenden Aufbau für sein Match, ehe Bryan aus Uso das nächste gute Match herausholt. Starke Leistung von DB, der im Anschluss seine Rumble-Teilnahme ankündigt und die Story könnte klappen. Im Main Event geht dann die nächste Stipulation sehr sauber auf und beide Charaktere funktionieren in diesem Umfeld. Die Post-Match-Celebration ist mir etwas drüber, aber wenn das Wertschätzung für den Intercontinental-Title sein soll, nehme ich das gerne mit. Starke Show, die als Holiday Special wirklich gut funktioniert. |

Nur ich bin halt nicht mehr der Freund von den Eingriffen Jey Usos welcher Owens mit Handschellen am Käfig festhält. Normal müsste es noch ein Match zwischen Reigns und Owens beim Royal Rumble geben. Die Women waren in Ordnung. Carmella und Sasha werden geschützt was auch richtig ist. Auch hier ein ganz gutes Match. Jey Uso vs Bryan war in Ordnung. Vor dem Match gab es eine Attacke von Jey Uso an seinen Gegner. Bryans Sieg ist richtig. Möglicherweise wird er nach Owens Reigns herausfordern. Er plant jedenfalls den Royal Rumble zu gewinnen. Der Main-Event war in Ordnung. Zayns Titelverlust ist überfällig. Seine Regentschaft war nur öde. Zayn wollte wieder im Match abhauen was die Lumberjacks verhinderten. Da man aus Big E ohnehin einen Singles Star machen will ist der Titelgewinn der richtige Schritt. Vier gute Matches ohne unnötige Segmente und das als letzte Show in 2020. Starke Sache. |

This was essentially a network special/PPV quality show. Roman vs KO was not as great as their TLC or Royal Rumble 2017 match, but it was still great. These two have some of the best chemistry in all of wrestling. It was a **** match. The women's tag title match surprised me by how much time it got and how good it was. Everyone got to shine. Bianca was amazing. The ending made sense. It might be high, but I'm going with a ***1/2 rating for it. Daniel Bryan vs Jey was better than their lats encounter and also PPV quality. The result was right and the match rocked. It was also a ***1/2 match, and I am not being high on that one when I say that. The main event was more gimmicky than the other matches, obviously because of the stipulation. Still, it was really good and also a ***+ match. The ending was fantastic and the result and aftermath were great. Smackdown's had a great second-half of 2020, aside for the Karaoke segment a while back, and this was the perfect show to end its year. It was an 8 1/2 out of 10 show. Nothing on it is skippable and all of it rocked. |

Cap that off with a Big E celebration to end the show, and you got the best SD of all year. They really didn't need to go all out for a Christmas episode, since they never do, but seems like that NFL lead in boosted their creativity. |
