[4.0] "The Dynamite that followed All Out appears to be moving AEW away from quality wrestling and closer to convoluted storylines, go away heat, and bad comedy. Giving Vickie Guerrero TV time to scream into the microphone is why legions of fans turned off Smackdown, and yet here we are. I'm assuming most AEW fans are also huge fans of the Elite, but the Elite has only wrestled a handful of meaningful matches on Dynamite over the past six weeks. The split and Kenny's "turn" is moving incredibly slow, and I'm hoping there's a payoff soon because watching a bunch of ex-WWE mid-carders is not the "world-changing" product that was promised. None of the (former) Elite have been booked for next week, so they are really dragging this out. As for Dynamite #49, Jurassic Express vs Lucha Bros was decent, however the Eddie Kingston bit is tired. I thought Butcher and Blade had some momentum following their highly-watched falls count anywhere match vs the Bucks on Dynamite #42, but they haven't had one 2v2 tag match on Dynamite since then. And don't get me started on the burial of the Lucha Bros. Jurassic Express continues to be a bright spot whenever they're in the ring, and Marko is awesome at ringside with them. Cassidy vs Angelico could have, and should have been much better. Jericho and Hager moving to the tag ranks makes no sense; the koi pond is already full. I'm assuming Hager is replacing Sammy in Le Sex Gods as Sammy's punishment for hurting Hardy multiple times now (All Out concussion, chair shot). This is an unfortunate development because Sammy is entertaining, and Hager is generally unwatchable. A great second / manager for sure, but he is awful in the ring. Not sure why Janela can suddenly hang with Jericho after the squash last week. Brodie vs Dustin was better than expected considering Dustin had absolutely no chance of winning - after a rewatch this match really was very good and raised the bar of the show. Definitely one of the better Dynamite matches in 2020. Would love to someday see Dustin take the title and blow the roof off a packed arena once things get back to normal. The woman's division is suffering, so they bring in the NWA woman's champ Thunder Rosa - while promoting the NWA, which just makes it more obvious they are grasping at straws to plug holes on a sinking ship. Apparently they are trying to appease the "legions" of "fans" on twitter constantly clamoring for more women's matches on Dynamite, despite the lack of talent and poor booking. The highlight of the show was when AEW shocked the world by introducing Miro / Rusev as Kip Sabian's best man. I'm assuming we'll get a good payoff with this questionable intro angle, however, Miro crying and whining about his WWE experience has me wondering how he'll react when he isn't automatically the top guy in AEW. To summarize, two semi-interesting matches and a bunch of nonsense with too much Vickie and not enough Elite - 4/10."
[9.0] "Really enjoyable Dynamite for me, the main event was fantastic and the rest of the matches were all solid enough. Some awesome promo stuff, I loved the Hangman promo in particular."
[5.0] "Solid night of tv wrestling. AEW continues to fall into the trap of defining themselves as "not wwe", with the Rusev/Miro segment. There's way too much wink and nod to dissatisfied WWE fans, those who are basically already in the tank for AEW. Miro also wasn't portrayed as some sort of bad-ass wrestler there to compete but rather, a gamer with a streaming channel. The Adam Page segment rocked and was the most real personality I've seen with him in a while."
[7.0] "This show felt light on content considering it was coming off a PPV. No mention of either of the women's matches. Only the segment where Shida made the save. No mention of Matt Sydal. I feel like the show was dominated by Miro showing up and the Inner Circle. None of the matches except fer Nyla vs. Tay Conti were bad per se, but none of them were really good either. Brodie vs. Dustin was a solid match and hard to explain how Dustin took Brodie to his limit when Cody put up little offense. Just because Dustin is bigger or was the challenger? To be fair, I don't watch WWE so I don't know much about Miro so I don't care until he does something in AEW, but playing a prolonged comedy bit with Kip Sabian I don't think started things off on the right foot. The Hardy appearance was just weird too - it was like AEW cut a match to put him out there instead to prove he didn't have brain damage. Nothing came of that segment. Cody being a judge on some game show I won't watch was not an announcement I was hoping to hear. FTR celebration was a waste of time, Jake & Archer's promo wasn't their best, but MJF firing his team and seeds of discord with Wardlow was a good segment."
[7.0] "A good show that was a treat to watch, but it missed anything must-see or of superlative quality to take it to that next level. The opening tag match was fun, as you'd expect with the teams involved, although I felt the finish was a little silly. Anything that leads to more Eddie Kingston promo time is a plus, though. OC-Angelico wasn't much of anything, although it was nice to see Angelico get a little time to shine on TV. The No DQ tag match was pretty damn enjoyable, especially because Janela and Kiss got to be more competitive than expected and showed off a lot of their unique styles of offence. Rose-Conti was also a strong match - Conti still has a few holes in her game but she's very impressive already and she's always made every match look important to her. The main event was a bit of a generic brawl to begin with but built into a decent match - could have been better, considering the participants, but still a good contest, even if Brodie could have looked a little more dominant. There was tons of great promo videos tonight, as a bonus - Omega, Hangman, Moxley, Hardy, Archer and MJF all came off fantastically, and FTR's in-ring segment was better than their previous verbal segments too. Debuting Miro in this way is a strange but interesting choice, so we'll see how that plays out. A good show, one that should start rebuilding the good will partially lost at All Out."
[9.0] "This is the Dynamite we know and loved. After a All Out that had a lot of problems, we got back on track. A lot of things to look forward too, and obviously Miro. That "British Friend" line has to be mean something right? Page & Omega interviews were gold, confirming that they are the feud of 2020."
[9.0] "Very good show, good matches and very good segments. This was very interesting, the problem is they have a lot of wrestlers, they need to have a second show (dark doesn't count)"
[10.0] "What a fantastic way to introduce Miro ? this was a perfect swever, taking a great shot at Miro's last story in WWE. Also, the Mox promo was great and the Omega-Page saga is beautiful, not just somebody randomly turning heel."
[10.0] "This was a great show. AEW needed something like this to rub off the negativity around All Out. They've perfectly reset the storylines. And also MIRO DAY!"
[9.0] "These two hours seemed to just flew by. Week 49 of AEW Dynamite didn't bring a loaded show, and the card was not stacked by any means, but there was not a dull or uninteresting moment on the entire program. The Kip Sabian promo might have gone on a minute or so too long, and that's about it for negative criticisms. Way better than All Out."
[9.0] "Incredibly fun show from start to finish. Great way to restart after the PPV and put Dynamite back on the right track. This show was the biggest indication so far of what just a small crowd can add. The hot crowd all night really made the action and segments super fun. For matches, JE vs Lucha Bros was a fun opener that put Jungle Boy over big. OC vs Angelico was fine to put over OC. IC vs Janela/Kiss was a ton of fun and really put over Sonny who looked like a star. Tay vs Nyla was fine and a nice intro for Tay. Then Brodie vs Dustin was seriously great. Dustin really is incredible for his age. As for the promos, they were the real stars here, every promo segment killed it and the Miro debut was really nice to see. Just a really really fun show all around"
[10.0] "Second best Dynamite of the Year. JE vs LB, ***1/2; OC vs. Angelico **, IC vs Janela and Kiss, ***, Dustin vs Brodie ****. Segments were amazing and incredible build up."
