[5.0] "The boring and relatively uneventful undercard would have quickly been forgiven if SANADA v. Ibushi had been a huge home run; it wasn't. The main was decent but unspectacular and failed to carry an otherwise forgettable night."

[6.0] "[CHAOS vs Suzuki-Gun] - 2 1/2 stars. [Suzuki-Gun vs LiJ] - 3 1/2 stars. [Tanahashi/Cobb/Juice vs Bullet Club] - 2 1/4 stars (Worst of the Night). [Oka/Ospreay vs CHAOS] - 2 3/4 stars. [Bullet Club vs LiJ] - 2 3/4 stars. [Ibushi vs SANADA] - 3 1/2 stars (Best of the Night). Average match rating: 2. 83 of 5 stars (or 5. 66 of 10). Rounded to 6 for Cagematch."

[4.0] "The G1 Finals is always a one match show and this was no exception. It is like they deliberately go out their way to make sure that the undercard is as weak as possible. Great main event, everything else not so much. As a top to bottom show, it was easily the weakest thing all G1. Great main event though and I'm so happy for Ibushi."

[6.0] "One of the weaker show this G1. Thankfully the Finals was quite good and a lot better than I had expected given the current situation. I really wanted Tanahashi Vs Ibushi but this was also quite good. Good storyline progression but there weren't any outstanding match. 6. 5/10"

[8.0] "A great night of action. Great matches, great story development. Everything one could ask for. The road to Power Struggle (and the rest of 2020, beginning of 2021) is on and I look forward to it. The G1 Finals was not the best match of the tournament IMO, but it was still a phenomenal match. Not sure why this show is getting mediocre reviews but to each their own, for me it ticked most of the boxes and ticked them well."

[7.0] "This was a good NJPW event. Nothing spectacular in the undercard, and some of the matches like O-Khan/Ospreay vs Okada/Sho disappointed but the final was well worth the time."

[7.0] "Solid card with 2 particularly hot story matches in the undercard and a very good main event. Didn't blow the roof off, didn't really need to. Very satisfying conclusion to the G1."

[5.0] "I've been following New Japan for six years and this is the first time I was disappointed in a G1 Final card. The only match on the undercard worth checking out at all was Suzuki and Shingo's tag match. That gets a ***1/2 and is worth watching. None of the other matches were bad, but some of them were boring and none of them were worthy of a show of magnitude. There were also no angles of note on this show, other than setting up some matches like Suzuki/Shingo and another Naito/Evil match. You know, since everyone isn't dead tired of the rivalry already. Now for the main event. What a doozy of a match to rate. The first half was mostly lackluster and is skippable. Then things picked up some, but not much over the next ten minutes. The final 10 minutes are what really should be checked out. The near-falls are some of the best I've ever seen and the finish was good. A match with that much polarity and that much wasted time can't get anything close to a *****. I can't even give that a ****. Sadly, despite the hot stretch at the end, I have to settle with a ***1/2. The postmatch backstage was hilarious and one of the biggest highlights of the show. To recap, just watch the Shingo/Suzuki tag match and the final 10 minutes of the main event, as well as the backstage segment at the end. For a show that went nearly three hours to only have those three things stand out? And this was a G1 final? Disappointing. 5. 5/10"

[3.0] "Definitely didn't miss the undercard tag matches during this tour, so having a show be mostly those wasn't the best experience. Main event was alright but underwhelming so I really can't rate this show highly."
